4.0 Very roomy, very useful

I just bought a couple of these to replace my old Acme Workhorse bag that was wearing out, and I really like them. They're a huge improvement on that one in several ways: first, they're much bigger, holding almost twice as much, while still folding up into a compact pouch that's almost as small as the one the Workhorse bag went into. Second, the straps are longer, so that I can easily carry them on my shoulder, and also wider, so that they're more comfortable to carry, whether on my shoulder or in my hand. And third, the designs are lovely.

I only have a few small criticisms that stand in the way of my giving these bags a 5-star rating. First, although this is really just a cosmetic issue, the material they're made from holds wrinkles like crazy, which is a bit of a nuisance with a compact bag that gets squished into a tiny pouch when you're not using it. Once it's expanded, it looks very, very crumpled and wrinkly, and stays that way for quite a while, though the wrinkles to eventually hang out if you're carrying heavy stuff in it for some time. The second is more of a functional issue: as with the workhorse bag, the little pouch is attached sideways to the inside of the bag, so that when the bag is expanded, the pouch just sort of hangs uselessly inside. It would be really nice if someday someone would make a compact shopping bag where the pouch served some kind of purpose when using the bag - like if it stayed right-side-up so that you could put your keys or other small items in it. Plus, in this case the positioning of the pouch is a little awkward and you have to twist the bag at a weird angle to get it in there when rolling it up.

However, both of these are pretty minor issues, and don't detract all that much from how great these bags are. I use them all the time, and will happily buy more whenever these ones eventually wear out.

I bought a bag for myself, my daughters and my grandchldren a few years ago. Now that my food store no longer uses paper bags I thought it was time to buy a couple more. I love them!!!!! They are very pretty, they hold quite a bit and are very durable. Store employees have asked me where I've gotten them and I pass the word on.
