I love that the bag fits in its own little bag and is very light. The clip is great so that I can attach the bag to my keys or my pants. I do with the handles were configured so one was on one side of the bag and the second handle on the other side (opens like a purse) instead of like a tank top style. I would like the ability to open it while still resting on my shoulder. I also think the bag could be a bit bigger. I use the stand-up Earth Tote bags (also great!) when making a planned trip to the grocery store, but I carry two of these bags folded in the side pocket of my purse for other shopping, or in case I forget the Earth Tote bags for grocery shopping. They fold up in a flash and don't take up any real space in my purse, and are super-light. The handles are made of the same material as the bag itself, which I think would make them a bit easier to fold and store than the Flip & Tumble bags - but I can't say that for sure since I haven't seen the Flip & Tumble bags in person. I purchased these bags as a give away for my staff at our retreat. I wanted to put water bottles and other items in the bag. When I took the bags out of their pouch, they were so wrinkled that I had to iron them. I hung them up for a long time but wrinkles didn't disappear. Ordered five of the colorful chico bags to encourage my family to stop using plastic bags. What I really like are the bright colors and the stowage bag is sewn to the inside of the shopping bag, so you don't worry about losing it and also provides a purchase for restuffing it which is very easy to do. I also love the wide straps in the shoulders so they don't cut into your shoulders when heavy and the carabiner so it can attach to a purse, backpack, etc. This is a great product at a reasonable price. The men will get the darker, more masculine colors and the girls will get the brighter colors. The pink is really cute! These unfold and restuff easily into their own attached pouch (no special folding needed). I think they will come in handy not just for shopping. They can be used as a tote, extra luggage in travel or camping. They are small enough to fit in a small purse. They can be left in a car; attatched to camping gear; clipped to a jacket or belt loop. I bought 5 bags in green and they are fantastic. They unfold easily in the store, though it does take me several minutes to fold them all back up once I unload the groceries. I've gotten a lot of compliments from the baggers about how much each bag holds. I can get all the produce in one, all dry goods in another, all frozen/fridge stuff in another etc. For ease of use, I unfold them all as soon as I grab a shopping cart and drape them over the seat to avoid the awkwardness of bringing your own bags once you get to the checkout line. I love these bags. I have ten: I tend to do all my grocery shopping once a month, so I need that many at one time. It's possible the checkout bagger is annoyed with them, as they don't sit up while filled ... but they could easily be hung over the plastic bag frame and used that way ... mine just haven't done that yet. Anyway, unlike the bags stores are selling now, these are tiny when not in use, and this makes them much more likely (for me, anyway) to go INTO the store with me. Those other ones were in my trunk and therefore nearly always forgotten. These are also easily washed. I like that the handles are contiguous and not sewn on; one less thing to go wrong! By Erin H

We were flying from Denver to Raleigh and bought 5 sandwiches for the plane. The deli placed them in 3 paper bags which were hard to handle with all the other stuff we were carrying. I can easily fit 4 or 5 in my (not very large) purse when I go to the grocery store and in my glove box the rest of the time, so I have them when I need them. This is the greatest bag and I use mine over and over. I keep one attached to my purse for quick trips into the store. For bigger trips, I keep four more in my car. I give them as gifts and have ordered them several times for that purpose. The way they fold up into themselves makes them indispensable. My latest order variety of bags and two children's water bottles were for use as gifts to friends and family. The Chico blue earth bag, several white cloth lunch bags, white cloth produce bags, and the water bottles were sent to my niece and her family for Valentines along with my note that this was to help them join the movement to save the earth for their children. Today I received a note they had started using the gifts to do just that and sent me a picture of the children too. So sweet! I have given two friends lunch bags and they loved them. I look forward to dispensing joyfully the rest of my order and it truly does make me happy to give such a thoughtful gift to others. For me, I love shopping with the produce bags and I always get comments on my Chico bags and other shopping bags I have from your company. I love these bags. I originally bought them more than 18 months ago. I still have those first ones and have added many more. They are a perfect size to keep with you at all times. I have been using cloth grocery bags for years, but always had to remember to bring them into the store - something I would do for grocery shopping, but would forget at the mall or those quick errands. Now I have enough of these, that there are always some in the car and in my purse, so I'm covered for those quick dash-ins. I love the Chico Bags. They are small and fit into anything you are carrying, but can hold so much. My favorite feature is that they clip to your key chain or wallet. I love these. I bought a bunch several years ago and ended up giving away all but one as gifts. I load those bags up with cans and bottles. These new bags appear to be as sturdy as the ones I bought years ago and I expect them to last just as long. They're so compact I keep one in my purse all the time. I thought the bags were cute. I got them for my daughter-in-law to use when she goes out with her new baby. I found them to be a bit hard to use. Being stuffed inside of themselves made it difficult to get them out and to get them stuffed back into themselves was next to impossible. With a baby around, it was extra worrysome, as you need both hands to get the bags ready to use. I went to the local grocery store and bought theirs for 1.99 ea and they fold flat and are ready to use at once, with one hand, and they don't take up much space, and one bag can carry the others, and when you are done, they don't have to be cramed back into themselves. Yes, you could leave yours unfolded, but because they don't fold flat, they take up even more space. Nice idea, just a wrong application for what I thought they would be. By Melissa S

I purchased several of these and used them to wrap christmas presents in. They worked great for colorful reusable packaging. I kept one for myself and I really enjoy using it. I really like that it folds up into its self for storage. It fits easily in my purse and I use it often for those times when I just need one bag. There are two draw backs to the bag. I LOVE THESE BAGS!!!! I just got them this weekend and they are fantastic! They fit into this tiny sack that is attached and closes w/ a drawstring and comes with a small carabiner clip so that you can clip them to your purse, keys, belt loop or to each other if you want to keep them together so that they dont disappear in your bag or some place else. I love the handles. They dont dig into your hands and they are big enough to fit on your shoulder w/o a coat in the summer. (A skinny person might be able to put it on their shoulder with a coat on.) I also love that you can stuff it into its sack w/o having to worry about how to fold it and it fits in the palm of your hand or pocket. I got one of these in black to try out and their Chico Vita bag in blue from another site that is a shoulder bag. The Chico bag holds 25lbs and the Vita holds 40lbs. I took these two and my ACME bag that I also bought to sample in my small purse to the supermarket and the three of them took up no space at all in my bag. I made sure to open them before reaching the register so as not to slow up the line and handed them over to the bagger as I emptied my cart and told him to use these instead of the plastic bags. Well he enjoyed filling the Chicobag to capacity and even the cashier got a little nervous as he tried to stuff one more thing in there. She told him to put the butter in the other bag but he knew he could squeeze it in there and the bag held up perfectly fine as expected. He actually put the gallon of water in the large Vita bag which I was a little worried if I could carry it on my shoulder but it worked out well and I found it very comfortable. Out of the three bags I only need two of them for what would have taken four bags, yet the bags did not feel heavy and I felt comfortable walking up five flights of stairs knowing that my hands were not full. I have ordered more of these chicobags to give out as stocking stuffers for christmas. I want to give one to everyone they are so great! By Debra W

This is actually my second order of Chico Bags - my toddler was playing with my other ones and lost them in Target. I was so sad because I love them so much. I purchased some for my brother this time too. He used mine while he was visiting and came to really like them. They aren't too "girlie" he said, and he likes how small they fold up. I have about a dozen Chico Bags in many colors and love them a lot! They are perfect for lighter items, but I would steer clear of them for heavier items (i.e., avoid the gallon of milk). My only complaint is that the stitching on the handles is not "locked" into place very well and tends to unravel. This seems to be a systemic problem with this product as about half of my dozen bags have had the stitching start to unravel on the handles. Most of them I have reinforced and have been OK, but two of them were so bad that I contacted the Chico Bag company. Great product for going to the mall or for light items, but watch out for stitching unraveling on the handles. Better than other ultra compact bags because it is designed to stuff into its little sack and does not have to be precisely rolled up like some of the other brands. By Sona K

A friend gave me one of these a year ago, and I have used it weekly at least. It is inexpensive, well-made, has lived through machine washing and many fully-stuffed trips to the store. It's so light weight that I don't even notice it in my purse, and the integral stuff sack makes it whip in and out in a flash (no special folding or rolling required, and no hunting for the correct bag to put it back into!) I have other reuseable bags, but this one is always the first I whip out at the grocery or drug store, with compliments from the checkout folks often. I just bought a bunch more for me and some for stocking stuffers for friends and family over the holidays. The new ones can easily live in my glovebox, bike basket, and/or purse and not take up space in my car like the canvas ones do. My old canvas ones are going to be retired to Freecycle. By Tara T

I received my order within a couple of days so my first comment is that shipping is so fast it will make your head spin! These Chico bags are great. I ordered 6 of them and have now used them twice. They are roomy and attractive (especially in hot pink!)and to my surprise hold at least twice what your basic plastic bag holds. They are very easy to return to their self-contained storage sacks. I have 6 ACME Earth Totes which I use for my bi weekly grocery shopping but I carry 4 of the Chico bags in my car and another 2 in my purse and use these for trips to the drugstore and Lowe's and PetSmart . . . We have been using our Chico bags for grocery shopping for over a year. We have used other bags in the past. The self contained stuff pouch and hooks are why I choose this bag. It makes them easier to store and carry along. The seems will pull if you over stuff the bag with heavier items (several large milks) but as one of the earlier reviewers stated: rotate the bags. We have not lost any bags to overuse and still have our original bags. The grocery store clerks like that we bring our own bags because we can put so much more into each bag than into the plastic bags and they do not have to be double bagged. Chico bags are hands down my favorite reusable shopping bags. I've tried several types, and while there are others that have nicer prints and hold more (such as the Envirosax or Reisenthel), the Chico bags are the ones that actually get used in my household. They easily squish down into their stuff sacks in just a couple of seconds, so after unloading groceries it's easy to pack them away, link them together and hang them from the door knob so we remember to put them back in the car. These are great. The clip to hook them to your belt is a little cheaply made but I just carry them in hand into the store then toss them in the cart or basket while I shop. So far they are strong and easy to use. They easily bundle up to fit in your glovebox so they're there when you need them (just remember to put them back in the car after you unload your groceries). My only complaint is that I'd hoped they hold a little bit more in each bag. You can fit just a hair more in one of these than a standard plastic bag. By Veronica K

I really like the idea of Chico bags; I also like the little storage bag and clip, and I love the colors (especially the purple). However, the handles could be longer (they aren't long enough to put over my shoulder) and the bags themselves are not quite up to the intended job. The seam stitching isn't up to the 20-pound limit, in my opinion, and the fabric isn't as sturdy as I'd hoped for. I've had three Chico bags in the past year. The first one was replaced (by the company) in less than a year when the seam gave out, even though I'd never had anything heavier than a gallon of milk in it, which is far under the stated 20-pound weight limit. The second bag had a hole rubbed in it after the first time I used it, and the third one was torn somehow, also very quickly. The bottom seam on both of them are starting to show signs of giving way, after only a few months of light use. Even carrying books in them leaves little thin spots, almost holes, in the fabric where the book corners hit. In short, I'd use them only for light-weight groceries with no corners - bread, smaller fruits and vegetables, etc. - or for shopping at non-grocery stores. Anything with corners will leave a little dent/hole in the fabric. The company does have a one-year warranty, but if they would improve their seam technique, the bags would probably be more durable. First off, I love the color of these bags. I know that's a little thing, but to me, it's important. Reusable bags available from other sources are very showy and bright, and that's just not my thing. I got brown and love it :) Second, these bags hold more than I'd expected. They look smaller than a Target plastic bag, but I have found they hold just as much if not more items with no worry of breaking or dumping over. Third, the storage of these bags is excellent. I have a few other reusable bags of this type - one wraps up and has a snap holding it together, and one has a zipper. But neither of those have a mode for carrying/attaching the bag to anything else. I have one of these hanging on the back of my doorknob, a few hanging from a clip in the car, and those I can easily grab and clip to my purse. I consider these bags to be a good value. It's hard to compare them to the FREE plastic bags you get at the store, but when you consider the waste! and the fact that these will be around forever because we WANT them to be ... They're an economical choice compared to other reusable bags. And finally - I don't consider myself particularly environmentally conscious or anti-consumption. This is my second order of Chico bags! I've started slipping them into my friends' & family's birthday gifts. The attached pouch makes all the difference in remembering to bring them shopping. I really like these bags. Plain and simple but do just what they're supposed to do (at about the size of a grocery store bag). The compact size fits into my purse, glove compartment, etc. The size is about the same as a plastic grocery store bag. Couldn't love these bags more. Everywhere I shop, people ask me where I got my bags. The bags pack down into tiny pouches, hold a surprising amount of groceries, and look good too. I bought a few of the chico bags in blue. They are a good size and fell pretty sturdy. I like that they fold back into themselves. The only thing I do not care for is the opening. I bought 5 of these and I'm in love! These are really fantastic! They're just like the normal plastic bags from a grocery store - same size, same shape - so the baggers know what to do with it (they don't overfill them - which is a problem I'm having with my bigger reusable bags as well as my paper-bag-shaped reusable bags). These are strong and durable! The color selection is phenomenal! I chose brown with the blue, and it looks really nice. :-) And the price is great too!!! When I bought these, I thought I would like the fact that it folds into it's own attached bag... but actually I find that cumbersome when I'm at the store, trying to pull each one out of its bag. So, instead, I just bunch them all up and throw them into one bag - so I can just hand it to the bagger. I suppose the feature would be convenient if you just wanted to tuck it away in the purse, diaper bag, or glove compartment for occasional spontaneous use... but I use mine at least once a week for groceries, and I just find that a pain to pack it into itself and then later undo it. I much prefer the roll&snap feature of the Envirosax; in fact sometimes I try to roll these up and finagel the drawstring around it to keep it rolled up, just like my Envirosax. By Virginia G

I absolutely love my chico bags, and I'm working hard at trying to get used to taking them into the grocery store with me. My first order was for five red bags...very chic. My second order was for four Earth and one free Gorgeously Green bag (I have the book). The Earth bags arrived, but the GG bag did not and with no explanation on the invoice either. So it would be nice to know why I didn't receive it (maybe you are out of them), and one of my red bags had a slit in it after the first use. It is still usable, but I'm at a loss as to how it happened. Other than that, I am very happy with the product. The bags hold a lot and are too cool. Since your name is reuseablebags, maybe you could start carrying recycled trash bags of different sizes (I would buy them from you). By Kristin S

I ordered five Chico Bags to split with a friend and so far we both love them! I didn't realize how compact they would be when folded down, they fit in the palm of your hand! They are so small, that I can put all three of mine on my keyring, if need be. Yet, expanded, they are the size of a traditional plastic grocery bag. I love the ChicoBags!!! I bought 10, which is PEPRFECT for by bi-weekly grocery shopping trip, as long as you instruct the grocer to fill the bags properly. They are great because the fold so small, not like the big canvas ones everyone is using. I usually store them in the little pocket behind the front seats of my car, then I always have them. This is a really nice bag! I love the color selection. They're very sturdy & strong, as well as comfortable to hold. I also like that it's a familiar look/feel for the bagger at the grocery store (it is so similar to the plastic bag that they're used to), so my groceries get packed up well. (When I go for paper, or for reusable bags that resemble paper bag shapes, the baggers always fill them up - my produce gets put with the glass jars and cracker boxes, and everything gets smushed.) While I think the pocket with the drawstring and the carabeener are a neat touch (especially for the price!), they are not features that I'll be using. When grocery shopping, I find it too much of a pain to pull out my 5-10 reusable bags and have to undo all the drawstrings and pull out all of the bags from their pockets. Yes, it's super convenient for keeping one in the purse, or the glove compartment... but not so much when I've got 2 kids trailing me and I'm trying to get done with the grocery store. Overall, this is a fantastic bag, and I really do love it! It's a tad smaller than the Envirosax, but just as sturdy. The bag packs a lot of features, and is a great price! By Carrie B

I ordered several ChicoBags and my opinion of them is sort of "meh." I think that they work well for lighter-weight items. But after only one use at the grocery store, several of them looked worn in places and one even had a hold in it from what I think may have been the corner of a cereal box. I realize that cereal box corners are pointy, but a reusable bag advertised for grocery store use should be able to take that kind of cereal box abuse - especially after only one trip. And no, they weren't too overloaded. I take my ChicoBags to places like Target and to the drug store where the items tend not to be as heavy as some grocery store products - like gallons of milk and containers of laundry detergent - which I think may be too heavy for them. In my experience, ChicoBags simply don't reliably stand up to grocery store use. In hindsight, I should have purchased canvas grocery store totes as they would probably have been more durable. Too bad canvas totes don't fold up into a teeny tiny package like these Chico bags. ChicoBags get an "A" for cuteness but a "C-" for usefulness in my book. By Susan R

I wanted to write a review because the reviews here seem to suggest you can ONLY buy them online - I encourage people to seek out a local co-op or Whole Foods, Earth Fare, or other local organic concept store. Chico bags can be found at most of these locations, and Whole Foods has their own version (pocketbook-sized fold-up) for about $1.50. I LOVE these bags!!! I've been using various types of reusable bags for several years now, some of those mesh ones, some cloth from various health food stores, a giant Ikea bag. The one problem I had with all of them is that I would forget and leave them in the car when I went shopping. Or I would buy something somewhere that I wasn't planning too, so I wouldn't have a bag with me. With these Chico bags and their little self-contained pouch, I keep two or three of them in my fairly small purse, so I always have them with me. A friend gave me a Chico bag a couple of years ago before I moved to Reno. I loved and used it all the time. Green friends were always attracted and would ask where can I get one? I travel to Quincy a couple of times a year and I buy them at the Quincy Natural Foods. 5 for the price of 4. And then I give them away. I bought out Quincy's supply at Christmas and needed more so I went to your web site and had to buy 5 for the price of 5. Now most people will buy one or two bags I have purchased around 25 of these bags-so I felt that I deserved the 4 for 5 price. When I asked about the offer while making an online purchase they said the offer was not happening at this time. I really thought that was bad PR. It's not the money. These bags are great! These are larger than the average plastic grocery bag and certainly more durable and also able to handle some accidental spillages. My 8 year old came home one day and insisted that he wanted one for his holiday gift. He'd seen it at the nature center. He loves it and he's given away two as gifts. Overall, I loved this bag. The fabric is very sturdy and the bag is constructed really well. It was thick enough to hide the contents (which contained Christmas presents) from my children. The colors are very vibrant. I kept the red and mango for myself, and gave the blue, purple, and pink as Christmas gifts. I really liked the compact size, because it can fit easily in your purse or a coat pocket. My only minor complaint is that the bag is a little smaller than I expected. My one problem with this product is the carrying sack. When the bag comes out of the sack it is a mess. I would never carry such a wrinkled up bag. So I washed it and ironed it and now I just roll up and carry it that way. I wish the name on it was not as prominent and that the color was more conservative. The compactness and ability of bag to roll up and fold in on itself is what makes this bag so special. I have one in my desk drawer at work for any lunch time shopping jaunts, and I carry one around in my hangbag at all times - for the times you never know you might pop into a store. At all but one store they were easy to use, but my experience at the local Walmart upon 2 occasions was met with resistance from the check out clerks. After the second time I stopped at the pleasant greeter and asked for a supervisor. She was very pleasant and promised to bring up the situation at a meeting of the empoyees. I like my Chico bags, but I do prefer the Acme ones. The Chico has a drawstring with a cinch and a little hook to snap it onto something else. I do not have a use for this mechanism, as I keep my bags stuffed into my purse. Although I prefer the Acme ones, I still highly recommend the Chicos. They are strong and durable and cost a bit less than the Acmes. It is amazing how much groceries these bags (and the Acmes) will hold and how much easier it is to tote them into the house when you get home. I use them at every store, not just for groceries. They're basically the same size and shape of a regular plastic shopping bag (like a Whole Foods bag), but you can fill them with a lot of heavy things because they're very strong. I think the product description claims that these bags hold the equivalent of two shopping bags, but they really don't. I wish I had known this--I would have gotten twice as many as I did. No excuses! I LOVE my new Chico bags! They're so small and truly compact, they're a cinch to carry literally everywhere and whip out of their little self-sac whenever needed, wash up if they get messy, and I can easily string a bunch of them together with their hooks for bigger trips. Not that I need many; one Chico bag takes the place of several cheap plastic bags. My children love to unfurl them and "get them ready", they're the first bag I've brought with me that didn't engender eyerolls from the cashier (I've even had them write down the Reusable Bags website, they were so impressed!), they hold a ton and are more comfortable to carry. This is my least favorite of all the bags I've tried (my favorite is the ACME mesh bag), but it is good. The fabric is sturdy, the colors are cool, but it lacks the flexibility of the ACME mesh bag, and isn't as easy on your hands as the ACME mesh bag when carrying a big load. The colors are cool and that helps as you stand in line and dig in a bag for one of these compact bags - you can see them in a dark purse. I purchased four bags (2 for each car, since my husband often does the shopping). I ran them through the washer before using and they are now even softer. We love the handles. The cashier asked where we got them and how much they cost, and seemed suitably impressed. I have one suggestion. I wish that this same supplier also made these bags with square bottoms (for packaged goods and cans). We have two nylon Safeway bags from our years in Canada and they are good as new 15+ years later. We do feel a bit silly in the other grocery stores we frequent with a big red "S" on those bags! I carried my coat in a chicobag to keep it clean while traveling. On the plane I put it in the overhead compartment. My husband ended up putting his leather jacket in with my coat to protect it in the overhead bin, and the bag held both. I kept one chicobag hooked to my purse and another in my husband's back pack. We lost one of the hooks with all the useage, however. Now I keep two in my car's glove compartment to take shopping to save on plastic bags. I like my Chico Bags !!! I used them the next day at Whole Foods. The bagger and the checkout clerk were impressed. I was pleased with the quantity and the weight that they held. I really like the fact that they can clip to my keyring, a ring in my shoulder bag and my belt loop (when I'm not carrying a purse). I'm pleased with my color selection (Brown) 'cause it's discreet, almost like a grocery bag. The Chico bags are great but they don't feel quite as good to me as the 1500. I would be 100% over the top on the 1500 if it came in the colors of the Chico bag. I love my chico reusable shopping bags. Keep them in my purse so I always have them. They are durable. Can load them to the top with groceries and the bag does not rip or tear. Because I am able to fill each bag to the top, there are less bags to carry into the house. I would say approximately 10 plastic bags full of groceries equals 2 chico bags full of groceries. I haven't used these myself, but bought 4 as gifts for Earth Day. I bought some of the ACME Workhorse 1500 bags at the same time. I prefer the color options of the Chico, and the clip is a very nice feature. The price is nice, too, if you're not sure you want to invest a lot yet. However, for myself, I chose the Workhorse 1500 because they are more compact when folded up. I will need a few more next winter to send with the kids for their winter gear. I love the colors they are offered in, I love the durability, I love the way the handles feel - they are most comfortable, not at all cutting to the hand, I love the material - it is light weight, durable, attractive, soil resistant, washable, fast drying, I love yhe size it reaches and folds into for storage and carrying to the store, and the price is excellent - a great bargain and incentive to invest in them (don't raise it, this is a big part of the products high integrity.) Ckerks at the grocery store ask me about the bags due to their attractiveness and quality. They inspire others to follow suit. My mother bought four and I bought four, in the same order, and she feels the same way, and has the same experience from the store clerks. So this survey is really two opinions. I used these bags for the first time today and found them to be sooooo useful! I don't have a car and am walking for groceries. The bags fit well at the self check-out area and are more flexible than the tote bags I had been using up until now. I'm short and the tote bags (not one's from this site) were practically scraping the ground as I walked. These don't even come close to the ground. They are bigger though, than the average grocery store plastic bag. The Chico Bags are great! At first I was disappointed because they were very wrinkly and didn't appear as snazzy as in the pictures. However, after a machine wash (with some fab. softener) and dry, they looked fabulous. They seem, so far, every bit as durable as the Workhorse (another wonderful bag!) and the colors have gotten a lot of positive attention and queries both at the grocery store and at work. Many people ask me where I got them which gives me a great opportunity to "preach" the glories of reusable bags and your website. One negative: you don't offer very many color choices. My husband and I love these bags! I originally bought a few for a friend for Christmas who rides her bike everywhere. My thought was they would be easier for her to use than plastic bags hung over her handle bars. When my husband saw the four bags, he begged my to let him have two. He now carries them with him all of the time, and I see him use them for everything from groceries to lunch to just carrying paperwork back and forth to work. This is the little bag that could! When I first received my ChicoBags, I was a little skeptical - How could a shopping bag fit inside such a small pouch? Removing the bag from its pouch, I was surprised at how large it expanded! Not only is the bag available in my favority color (purple), but it wears like iron and hold a surprising amount of weight.
