Care and Use
For maximum insulation efficiency: pre-heat or pre-cool your mug/bottle just prior to use, fill with hot/cold tap water, attach lid, let stand for 5 to 10 minutes and empty
After filling, cover the mug/bottle with the lid or top to increase thermal efficiency
Wash and rinse mug/bottle thoroughly after each use and thoroughly dry
We recommend avoiding the dishwasher for everyday cleaning. Simply use a soft cloth or moistened sponge with a mild dishwashing liquid to remove exterior dirt. Do not use bleach or cleaners containing chlorine to clean the mug/container/bottle. For periodic sterilization, using the dishwasher is considered OK.

My boyfriend brings his coffee in the car to work every day and had mentioned that it's never still hot by the time he gets to work in the plastic cups he was using; and also I don't like him using plastic mugs for hot coffee, even if they say they're BPA-free. I finally found and ordered this mug for him to try, and while he doesn't care himself whether the inside is stainless steel like I do, he was impressed that it kept his coffee warm for his long commute, and he's very happy with it! When i realized that the disposable paper cups have some kind of plastic lining i started my search. I considered all the options out there, porcelain, ceramic, glass but apparently the lids smell funny, and they're fragile. I didnt want a plastic mug even if it was bpa-free. Most reviews of other products complained of a smelly lid after multiple uses bc you cant clean under the sliding tab, so that became important. I came across this Timborino: it's perfect, a lid that can be fully cleaned, lid fits very snug (no spills tho i'm not one to flip my mug upside down), 18/8 ss, bpa-free. Also keeps coffee hot for almost the whole cup (for me about an hour) and warm after that. After 1 month of use i'm still so happy w it, got 2 more for wife and mother. Great product! By Johanna H

The feedback I have received is: "Stainless cup feels nice to drink from if you want to avoid the #5PP lid". I like this mug a lot. I've had and used two of them for the past two or three years, not as a travel mug (the lid is not designed to be spill proof) but just to keep coffee warm for several hours at home. Over the years the thumb pads have come off, but that doesn't bother me very much. I've also had occasional problems with leaking, but think this is a matter of adjusting the rubber ring on the lid. A few months ago, when considering reordering these, I noticed that the slide closure on the lid is supposed to be removable, so I started removing it for better cleaning. Unfortunately, on both lids the prongs that attached the sliding mechanism to the cup broke in about a week. I will still probably re-order at least one of these, or see about getting a new cap, as I find them very comfortable to drink from and they do keep the coffee at a good temperature. For work I now use the Kleen kanteen wide-mouth; it comes will a spill proof lid that you can swap for a cafe lid once at work; this lid does come apart for cleaning and seems to hold up very well. It also keeps the coffee hot for longer than this one, but I don't find it as comfortable to drink from. By Angela L

I've had this mug for a few years and have loved it. It's gone everywhere with me. I miss it if I forget it! However, within the last year the lid has started leaking and the cushion part of the handle has come off and become a little brittle. This mug has never been in the dishwasher, because I don't have one, and I'm a little disappointed that the cushion has come off. It's also a little difficult to clean on the inside because my hand does not fit down inside all the way, and brushes don't seem to get it all the way clean. I bought this mug, and a few of the same as gifts. Personally, it is my favorite mug. It keeps hot water, coffee, tea, or whatever beverage you put into it hot for hours and I do mean hours. My only problem with this mug is the lid. The original lid that comes with it does not provide you with a tight vacuum seal. However, this is a solution and it won't burn a big hole in your pocket. Go on to timolino's website and buy a replacement cap. They do not sell directly to the public so you'll have to ask them where to buy. The "correct" replacement cap that you want for this mug is LD-B01. That is the timolino model number and it's slight different from the cap that is sold with this travel mug but it provides a tighter fit. Besides that, this is a great mug! By Lorraine N

I want to like this item, I really do. It holds a good amount of coffee and in all is pretty well-constructed. Only thing is, it leaks. I'll go to take a sip and coffee will come pouring out the side where the lid meets the cup. The lid fits well, and noting seems to be out of place or broken. It just leaks. The coffee cup is not bad. It wasn't exactly what I was looking for, but I have a feeling that I'm looking for a rather obscure item which may or may not be findable. I ride my bike to work, and wanted to have a coffee cup that would (a) not spill and (b) handle being dropped and damaged. With (b), I've already dropped it on the road twice, and it has held up quite nicely there (the lid even remained on, which made me happy). As for (a), it does leak through the airhole at the top, so I can only fill it half full, but as I said, I imagine that's probably true with any coffee cup I would have bought, so I can't complain. (I was considering getting a klean kanteen, but I was worried that it would be too hot if I tried to hold it, and with its insulated sleeve wouldn't fit on a bike-mounted cup/bottle holder.) For the most part I like this travel mug. It keeps my coffee hot for most of the day. The shape of the mug fits perfectly in my car and I have not had any issues with coffee spilling out of the mug. My only issues with the mug are that the thumb pad was already peeling off when I received it in the mail. I had ordered 2 mugs and on both the thumb pad were peeling off. When the travel mug is closed, small amounts of coffee leaks out when the mug is tilted, so I wouldn't put a full mug in a bag. Good vacuum tumbler. The "vacuum", means that the lid doesn't screw on but is secured by suction by a rubber siding. Overall pretty good quality. The Sigg water bottle is well made, durable, and light weight. I love it. The stainless steel vacuum tumbler is basically a good product, although the trim is poorly constructed and part of the trim came off when the tumbler was hand washed prior to the first use. This cup looks great, I have received many compliments on it already. It DOES keep my coffee hot all morning long, which is a must for me. Previous cups that I have used have never really kept things HOT, and I can't stand lukewarm beverages, but this one really does keep it hot. The only bummer is that when tipped it does leak. In the winter, I mainly use the tumbler in the car. In the summer, I'll use it while lounging on the patio. It really does insulate, to the point that I burned my mouth on hot tea long after I expected it to be cool, so leave the lid off until your beverage cools to drinking temperature. It fits my hand, my car's drink holders, and my mouth, hasn't been a dribble cup, and the slide closure on the lid opens easily with one hand. I think I can take the slide closure on the lid apart for deep cleaning, but rinsing has worked so far. Cons - it's not dishwasher safe. I got value for my money. I recommend this insulated tumbler. Does just what it's supposed to do, thermal wise! Keeping the lid's drinking port closed helps maintain temperature for longer time periods. However, for odor neutrality, remove the gray oval spongy "thumb" spot. Fortunately, it's easy to remove, and I don't miss it so far as ease in holding. The cup is a good bit wider along the top so it can seem a bit top heavy, but even my small hands can hold it fine. And the narrower bottom fits in my standard sized car cup holder. Nice to have the fairly large capacity though, so the width disparity is worthwhile! By Alexis K

This cup turned out to be different than I thought when I bought it. It is definitely NOT leakproof, which was a bummer; and part of the outside of the cup (a little thumb cushion) fell off the first time I bought it. That said, I have never, ever had a cup that kept things as warm (really HOT) as this one does, for as long! And this by far outweighs the other shortcomings. By David S

Wonderful! maybe a little bigger than expected but fits where I had intended to put it. Great flow from the drinking hole. Keeps it hot without even heating the outside of the cup great when trying to ride my bike and drinking.
