The DivaCup is a menstrual cup that collects, rather than absorbs, menstrual flow. Made of soft, medical-grade silicone, The DivaCup is inserted in the vagina, and small holes under the rim of The DivaCup create a gentle suction to ensure it stays in place. When inserted properly, it cannot be felt and will not leak.
The DivaCup can be worn for up to 12 hours before emptying, washing and reinserting. It can be used for light or moderate flows and emptied more often to accommodate heavy flows. It's perfect for overnight use and for all activities – like running, biking, hiking, dancing, camping, swimming, diving, scuba, yoga, extreme sports and more.
The DivaCup is available in two models:
Model 1: For women under 30 years old who have never given birth. Model 2: For women over 30 years old and/or for women who have given birth.

Sustainability
Each DivaCup replaces hundreds of disposable tampons and pads over the course of its lifetime. More than 170,000 tampon applicators were collected along U.S. coastal areas between 1998 and 1999, according to the Center for Marine Conservation. Each year, women dispose of more than 20 billion disposable pads and tampons – that’s 10,000 pads and tampons in an average woman’s lifetime – according to waste consultant Franklin Associates. Conventional pads and tampons (including packaging and applicators) also require tremendous resources to produce, and can take hundreds of years to degrade in landfills.

Care Instructions
During daily use, hand wash The DivaCup in mild soap and warm water. At the end of each cycle, The DivaCup should be washed and rinsed, then submerged in a pot of boiling water for 20 minutes. For extra cleaning of the holes under the rim, use a soft toothbrush or toothpick after soaking.
Store The DivaCup in its drawstring pouch or other storage container that allows for air flow.
Note: The DivaCup is not dishwasher-safe. Do not use vinegar, tea tree oil, scented or antibacterial soap, hydrogen peroxide, bleach or harsh chemicals, as these may damage the silicone.
The DivaCup may be returned to us in its original condition. We accept returns on unopened, unused personal items only.

I was pretty skeptical about this purchase, but I am always looking for ways to decrease my waste, so I decided to give it a go. I've used it through one cycle, and I actually like it a lot better than tampons! I was traveling at the time and the convenience of only twice a day emptying can't be beat. It also isn't drying to the tissues the way tampons are and is very comfortable to wear. I had one overflow the very first time I used it, but that was with really heavy overnight flow. I adjusted how I use it (I don't think I had a good seal either, so now I make sure I turn it at least one quarter to halfway around after insertion), and had absolutely no problem with it subsequently. It was very easy to clean, and I loved that there was no smelly trash left behind in my host's trash cans (yuk!). I LOVE IT By Danielle M

This is a product I wish I had discovered years ago. Once you get used to inserting and removing the cup, it's comfortable and works better than anything else I've tried over the years. No more embarrassing leaks! Definitely worth paying a little more for something that works so well and there's no waste like other options out there. This product is immeasurably better than tampons. #1 SAVES TIME: no more multiple tampon switches/day. I have a heavier flow and only the first 2 days do I change it 1 additional time to the "every 12 hours" switcheroo. #2 SAVES YOUR ENERGY: No more constant checking of purse to make sure I'm stocked up on tampons and pantyliners.#3 MORE COMFY: Just like the 1st couple times with tampons, its a different feel. But after that, you don't feel it at all...no more "spontaneous tampon-sticking-out" (you know what I'm talking about). #4 CHANGED RELATIONSHIP WITH PERIOD: With disposables, there's this "throw it away, garbage-ie" feeling associated with your period. To be honest I wanted to try something else other than pads or tampons as I found they leaked and the embarassment is awful.The Divacup arrived 2 weeks before my period came so I had plenty of time to review te instructions.
My first night with the Divacup was perfect. No leakage, no pain, no problems. But I guess I got cocky and was careless about inserting the cup.
The next few days were frustrating and messy. Figured it out near the tail end of my period and will have to go to my next period to be sure I have the hang of it.
Other than that when it did not leak it felt like freedom.

Hi,I have not yet had the pleasure of using the Blossom Pads but I am very anxious to try them. I also have a daughter and I know she will love them.
I had not heard of this new product and I am so happy I happen to come across them. What a fabulous idea you have come up with!! I honestly think this is the answer for women everywhere to have a product that is so geared to a woman's taste and style with all the wonderful colors and all the great sizes of pads you offer!! We know in our hearts when we use this product it is safe and also it meets our needs as far as our cycle is concerned. To know this and to feel how soft and absorbant they are is such a great plus!!! I am so happy and excited to use this product. After having my children, tampons were so uncomfortable, but I hated wearing pads. I came across this option while looking for reusable lunch items and I thought why not give it a try. I am so happy I did. I feel it is easy to use, I have not had any "accidents" in the 3 months I have been using the DivaCup. I also work as a nurse in a very busy urban ER and not having the extra worry about fitting in a bathroom break makes it worth the money in just one shift! I was unsure of the whole reusable tampon idea - sounds weird. But I'm completely disgusted with our disposable society, and I'm constantly trying to find ways to lesson my impact on the environment. I had NEVER considered how much waste is put into the world through disposal tampons & pads. That seemed to be the only thing to use, so I just thought it had to be that way. But, I gave the DivaCup a shot & have been pleasantly pleased. Once you get past the awkwardness of inserting it, turning it & removing it, you'll be SO happy you tried it. I read other reviews about how comfortable it was & could'nt believe that it was possible, but it is. It's so comfortable & so easy to use. I don't have any issues removing it as some other reviews stated. One day, any female children I have will only know of products like this. 5.0 Best Product for Heavy Flow-ers

If you're like me, and can overflow a pad or tampon in 3 seconds flat, this is the product for you! Granted, during my heaviest flow times, I'll have to empty every hour or two, but it sure beats flowing "over and out", if you know what I mean.It took a few months to get used to inserting it (I like the "Seven Fold"-- google it), remembering to turn it to engage the suction, and then to learn to feel when it needed emptying. Wear a backup pad while you're learning to use it.
During my heaviest flow days, I still wear a pantyliner to catch my overflows (some people believe this prevents leaking and will "back up" your menstrual flow into your vagina/uterus-- they don't know what they're talking about). But it sure beats tampons and pads anyday!!!
If you are squeamish about blood, bodily fluids, etc, this is not the product for you. But as I always say, hands wash easily. :)

What a fantastic idea! I am trying everything I can to reduce my impact on this planet. It's the little things like this that make a HUGE difference. When I read Americans threw out around 20 billion feminine products a yr I knew I was buying this! It looks big at first but flexes with your body and is comfortable. Comes in a cute pouch. I've had no problems with it at all and I really really recommend this to every woman out there... We all should be comfortable enough with our bodies to use this... and you get over the ick-factor very quickly. We are women right!? I've been using the Divacup since 2008/age 22. It took about 3-4 months for me to get used to inserting it and feeling comfortable. but after that it was pretty much always great/no leaks. A year after having it, it became really hard to insert and it would sit really low and poke out. I figured out a new fold and turned it inside out to make it shorter and it's been problem-free since then.(the fold i switched to is: hold it between thumb and middle finger and use the index finger to dip the lip inwards, so it makes a cone/triangular shape at the opening. then insert and spin 360 as usual.)
i actually find using it inside out makes it easier to pull out too, feels like there's more to grip because it doesn't have a slippery curve.
overall, after figuring out how to use it (twice), i love it. i had to use regular pads once a few months ago because i couldnt find the cup and the pads were so uncomfortable!

Amazing product! At first I thought insertion was going to be difficult, but it's really just getting used to a new type of product, which hasn't taken long at all! Fairly easy to insert, so comfortable I don't even know it's there, and I've had no problem at all removing it. All you need to do is "push" and it's easy to grab and remove. I'm really excited about the DivaCup! It's a much simpler option than tampons since it only needs to be emptied a couple times a day and creates no waste. I had a little trouble getting it inserted correctly at first, but once I figured out a way that worked for me I haven't had a problem. 2.0 Easy in...impossible out

After doing the research and reading so many reviews I decided to buy the DivaCup while it was on sale. I was so excited by the concept of having an eco-friendly and safer alternative to tampons. I purchased model 1 because I am 29 and have never had children (maybe I should have gone for model 2?). I am on birth control pills so I don't generally bleed a lot except on day one. I made sure to review all the inserting methods and techniques so I had no trouble getting it in. It was the removal process that brought me to tears after day 3. I realized this transition would be an adjustment and would take practice. I realize most women said "after a few months" they could use the product with much more ease and comfort. That is why I stuck with it and continued use. Yet each time I wanted to remove the cup it was a 30 minute ordeal which inevitably ended in me laying on the floor because luckily I was always home. The cup wasn't lost but it would sit so high that I could barely reach it. When I could the tip was so slipperly and short I couldn't get a strong enough hold to actually pull down. The suction created even more challenge. I tried every position possible so I could relax my muscles and laying down seemed my best option. I tried not inserting it too deep but no matter what the cup would immediately find itself in an unreachable spot. Maybe it's my body's design or maybe I'm doing something wrong but I've tried everything and still find myself doing a search and rescue mission to get this out! I'm sorry to say I couldn't put myself thru it another day. By Olivia M

I've only had my DivaCup for one month, and I love it. The amount of waste created by tampons and feminine products made me feel guilty and gross. Finally, I can eliminate all that waste that I thought was necessary, with this eco-friendly, low-impact product. The DivaCup is very comfortable, I don't notice it at all while I'm wearing it, and I've had no problem with leaks. I have long days with school and work, so it's nice to be able to keep this in all day and not have to worry about ducking into the bathroom every few hours and filling my pockets with tampons. As another huge bonus, with the DivaCup I don't have to worry about TSS, bleach or other chemicals, discomfort from drying, or any of the other concerns that come with tampons. This product is fantastic! I was concerned that it might be messy or seem unclean...I was pleasantly surprised that it was just the opposite. I love that there were no leaks and that you could sleep comfortably with it. There is a learning curve, but after the first day or so it was very easy. When I'm using the cup, other than cramps, I can completely forget about my period. You can't feel it at all, I wore it for a half marathon my third day trying it. DO boil it after each cycle though, it'll help the cup to not get rust-colored. Also, DO twist it once you think you've got it in, to make sure it doesn't leak at all. By Abby H

This product has changed my life. I have never been able to use tampons but the Diva Cup is no problem. It is something different and it did take a while to get use to (I kept inserting it too high up) but now I could not live without it. I never have to worry about it because I just change it morning and night when I am home. If I am out then I just wipe it with the toilet paper and put it back in. I wish I could give this ten stars. There are so many good things that I can say about the DivaCup. Not only are you vastly reducing plastic waste generated from throw-away tampons/pads, but you are taking an important step towards better personal health, comfort and convenience! I have had my cup for three years and only wished that I had been introduced to it when I first got my period. It seems daunting at first, but it really will become easy and soon you won't be worrying about planning your life around your period. It has proven invaluable while camping, traveling, working long hours and exercising. If you're skeptical, do some more research and learn some techniques of how to use the cup. I was excited and ready to try this. I boldly did so. But I thought I heard a suction and felt it swoop up a bit which caused me to quickly fumble around to remove it. I was afraid it would get stuck. I've been using my Diva Cup for the past 5 years and absolutely love it. It took me several months to get the hang of inserting it correctly but now it's easy since I learned a different folding technique for insertion (I use the Punch-Down Fold, as shown here: http://community.livejournal.com/menstrual_cups/453392.html). My Diva Cup was extremely uncomfortable until I trimmed the tail almost completely off. No problem now! I had leakage on my heaviest days until I realized that the little holes near the top of the cup need to be cleaned. I usually didn't do this because it was nearly impossible to do easily (who wants to get out a toothpick each time you remove it?!)... until I found out by accident that it's easy to clean if you fold the top of the cup in under running water and the little holes clean themselves! Emptying the cup is no problem for me in public restrooms. I just wipe it with toilet paper before reinserting. I've never had to do it two times in a row and I make sure to wash it well once I'm at home. I love so many things about the Diva Cup: 1) No risk of TSS 2) No dirty tampon string to deal with 3) No more yeast infections! (Paper products were causing mine.) 4) It's reusable and eco-friendly 5) It works better & holds more than a tampon I don't dread my periods anymore. In fact, I usually forget I have it! I sometimes worry that I'm going to completely forget I have it in and forget to take it out (it happened to a friend of mine!). A fantastic product. Highly recommended! By April H

I was very uncertain about this product, but it is the BEST! It did take a couple days to get use to using, but now I can put it in place and take it out with ease. I love that I can wake up and not have to deal with that "mess" from my menstrual cycle. The second day I used it I went to my yoga class and forgot I even had my period! Easy to clean too! Since using this... I can almost forget I'm even having my period! Almost no mess in comparison... and unlike (wasteful!) tampons you can leave it in and forget about it! No risk of TSS... I only have to change mine morning and night even on my heavy days! And since using this and the re-usable lunapads... somehow my cramps have gone away! Maybe it was all the chemicals they put in the disposable "sanitary" items... What a blessing finding these has been! The ONLY issue I have had with the divacup is that after say 3 days of using just the cup, it does get a little bit dry and uncomfortable "down there"--which is when I switch over to the pads for a little while. And to get the little holes at the top clean all you have to do is bend the cup under running water. Also... this would be the best thing ever for going backpacking if you were menstruating! No having to either carry around or burn (yuck) the disposables... good for the environment and good for us women :). When I first got this product I loved it. It works well. But after a while I started to realize that it was causing some tearing upon insertion (I do fold it up the way youre supposed to before inserting). I really wanted to continue using it but even using some lube around the edges to get it in smoother didnt stop the tearing feeling, so I had to stop using it unfortunately. If it wasnt for that issue I would still be using it today, so if you can insert it comfortably, then its a great product, but if you have sensitivity issues it becomes a pain. By Julie M

I know this sounds crazy but I received my Diva cup the day before leaving for a weeks vacation to the Canary Islands - and I thought do I try this new thing on vacation - just go for it 100% - I didn't even bring tampons along - I loved it - there were a couple times I was caught in a public restroom - no troubles ladies - I caried my unscended dove soap in a ziplock in my fanny pack and washed my hands really good before entering stall and brought a water bottle in with me (which isn't too suspicious looking), use the water bottle to rinse the cup and reinsert - you get faster after a bit although I found that I did change it every 6 hours personally - but LOVED it - more comfortable, more economical and better for the environment. I was initially nervous to use the Diva Cup, fearing leaks or discomfort, but I have been very pleased with my purchase. Though insertion is a little more awkward than that of a tampon, once you get used to it, it's quite comfortable and forms a very tight seal. The biggest advantage is that it holds much more than a tampon, so that I'm not running to the bathroom every hour during the heaviest part of my cycle. It also does not leave me feeling dried out on my dry days. Yes, it's a little messy, but I think it's worth not having to buy tampons, and it's definitely great to be able to sleep with it in and not worry about leaks. The product is being sold for $23.95 on Amazon, so I feel like Reusable Bags should mark it down a few bucks, but even at $39.95 plus shipping, it will pay for itself over time, as well as save the environment from the waste of all your tampons and pads. It is very sturdy and I think it will probably last me a few years. Glad I made the switch. By jessica h

It can be a little strange to get use to taking it out in public bathrooms. I work in an office building and felt a bit uncomfortable at first taking it out and washing it in a public sink. The way I have started handling it, is just wiping it completely off with toilet paper and then taking it out to the public sink to wash it off with soap. No one has ever said anything, and at this point I am so comfortable with it, I would probably try to sell them on the thing while washing it. By jessica h

Love the DivaCup! It's unbelievably comfortable...no more 'plugged up' feeling, less cramps (go figure), even on my heaviest days (inserted correctly) DivaCup doesn't leak and best of all, no more WASTE! There is a bit of a learning curve with insertion and although I haven't had to empty it in a public restroom, I can see where that might be more difficult than being in the comforts of home. DivaCup for me also sits higher than stated in the instructions, but I've never had a problem with removal. Highly recommend. Wish I had known about it sooner. I wish they had this 20 yrs ago. I don't feel like I even have an insert of any kind unlike when using tampons. I absolutely love the Diva Cup and am recommending it to all my friends. It is a littel cumbersome at first trying to insert but once I got the hang of it, wow!! I feel cleaner and fresher with this. I'm 48 years old and my only regret is that I won't get more use out of this on account of approaching menopause. I am using it for the first time this period and it has been easier, cleaner, more convenient, more discrete, more comfortable, with less cramping, and more reliable than any menstrual product I've ever used...and this was with a lot of activity, visiting and a house full of guests over the holidays. I agree that you need a degree of privacy for rinsing in the sink, but that hasn't been an issue yet on account of there's been no real urgency as I've had with full/leaking tampons. There was no learning curve for me (as opposed to my first period when I was unprepared and my friend and fellow camper loaned me a tampon which I inserted cardboard tube and all). I agree with all the complementary things and the multiple reasons to convert to the diva cup said in the other reviews...especially the annoying smuggling of tampons at work. You do want to shout it from the rooftops, even though this isn't the type of thing you'd typically discuss, but I did take aside my sister who has been having heavy, frequent periods and told her how wonderful it is...how much money she'd save and how much better she'll feel. I absolutely love the diva cup! It was a little hard for me to figure out how to get it in correctly, but ever since there has been no leakage. I bought it so that I would have no waste to pack out when I'm backpacking and since you only have to empty it 2-3 times per day it makes those trailside pit stops less messy. It stays in place no matter what activity I'm engaged in. It pays for itself, there are no chemicals (pads and tampons are usually treated), and I don't have to leave giant toiletpaper balls in the trash. By Lauren H

The Diva Cup is a great product!! I was slightly nervous at first about inserting it correctly and having it be comfortable, but my fears were soon gone. It is sooo comfortable and easy to use. I use the recommended way of folding it as described on the box and have never had a problem. Even on heavier days I haven't had any leaks, even though I always wear a LunaPad pantyliner with it (love those as well). Even wearing them to work and rugby practice, they are super comfy and I don't have to worry about carrying around disposable tampons/pads with me. Diva Cup how I love thee...Not as hard as you think to put in and take out it just takes a few tries to get it down. I practiced with it before my period started and that helped. I haven't had any leaks at all and there is no smell like with a pad and it's comfortable. I love that I can put it in and not think about it for at least 8 hours and sometimes 12! I don't dread having my period now, I look forward to it. I also have noticed my cramping is not as much anymore (makes you wonder). I will never go back to tampons or pads again. When my daughter comes of age this will be the product I will purchase for her. Thank you Diva Cup! It pairs great with Lunapads for backup if you are afraid of leaks I love those products as well. Like everyone else here, I love the cup so much! I got it for cheaper elsewhere, but I've had mine for almost two years and it shows no sign of needing to be replaced, contrary to the FAQs. It does have a bit of a learning curve (for me probably 4 or 5 cycles, but now I need no backup), but don't be discouraged! I'm never ever EVER going back! And for the record I am a very small person with a very heavy flow at least one day out of the eight... only difference then is that I need to check on it every ~4 hours (still an improvement over super-plus tampons) instead of every 12! I just used this last month and I have to say it's pretty awesome! I wore a pantyliner just in case because I worried about leakage in the beginning. It takes some practice until you get the hang of it. I will say that one time, it went in pretty far and I had a hard time getting it out. As long as you stay relaxed so that you don't grip the cup with your muscles, you'll be able to get it out. If you freak out, just take a breather and try again when you're relaxed. One thing I would recommend is developing some kind of grip-able surface on the sloped sides of the cup to make it a little easier to grab and do the 360 degree rotation they say to do. It tends to be a slippery little sucker most of the time. Overall, I'm super happy with this product! I'll be saving loads by not having to buy tampons or pads! By Sarah M

COULD NOT GET THIS OUT - I ordered one of these, put it in no problem, comfortable, no leaks, then I tried to get it out and just couldn't. It was too slippery for me to get a hold of. I called the company, no answer, then made a doctor's appointment. Someone from the company called back, actually discouraged me from going to the doctor (which was a major red flag for me), and told me to keep trying. I had literally tried for 2 hours, so that was not helpful. My doctor had a tough time getting it out too. Obviously it works for many people but beware - if it doesn't work for you, it's a MAJOR hassle. By Jen W

LOVE this product! My husband thinks I should get commission on how much I talk about this product to all of my family and friends (and so far I've converted 4 of them!). I can't imagine periods without it anymore. I've been using it over a year and can NEVER go back to tampons. It did take a couple of cycles to get used to. I also cut the stem off (has no negative effects) for comfort. Its not gross in my opinion (no grosser than tampons), and I feel so great about the environment, my body, and my period (for once). I did have a friend who had a hard time using it at work in a stall situation, however, I never have to change mine more than every 12 hours. Depends on your flow, etc. BUY ONE!!!!! Here's something nobody has commented on: I hated taking showers with tampons (wet string, ugh), as well as without tampons (drip on the floor, ugh). With the DivaCup there are no leaks. I don't have to worry about wet strings or yeast-friendly environments. I don't have to worry about washing my bath mat every period. In fact, I wash the Cup while I'm in the shower, and that's that for another 8 or so hours. I never feel gross or dirty "down there," it is so clean, the only time anything makes its way out is when I clean it, and it's only a little bit. Overnight is beautiful, like not having a period. I never have to hide a tampon in my sleeve before I go to the bathroom at work anymore. I never have to pack a few on my way out the door. I have yet to be able to convince any of my friends to try a DivaCup, but they just don't know what they are missing! I have pretty heavy periods and was going through a tampon (super) AND a pad every couple of hours. I also had horrible cramps and was just hating life for a week out of every month. I discovered cloth pads when my daughter was in cloth diapers. I thought - "I'm washing diapers anyway, I can wash these too!". The cloth pads were so much more comfortable than tampons had ever been for me, I completely fell in love with them. It isn't quite so easy to deal with cloth pads when you travel or are camping though, so enter the DivaCup! It's always in my purse so I never get "stranded" without anything. I still use my cloth pads unless I am working on a very busy day or am traveling, but I would never trade in my DivaCup either! An interesting side-note - my periods have gotten significantly less heavy and my cramps are non-existent now. Kind of makes you wonder... By Lynn B

This really is a great product for women who want to either: 1. divest themselves of the grossness of tampons and/or pads, 2. want to lessen the garbage associated with their menstrual cycle or 3. want a healthier alternative to chemically-saturated tampons. There is nothing to throw away and no odor. It lasts for a long time...so far I've had mine for a year and a half and it shows no signs of needing to be replaced. (Can you imagine...I've not bought tampons or pads for almost 2 years!) One feature no one's mentioned yet is that the cup holds a lot more fluid than a tampon. Except for my heaviest flow day, I can easily wear it for 12 hours without emptying it. Of course, each woman flows differently, but it is designed to hold more, which is really great. It does take some getting used to, however. I have definitely had some "OMG! I can't get it in there!" and "OMG! It won't come out!" moments. You will need to be patient with yourself....think of how long you've been using tampons...this change might take some time to adjust to, but it is SO WORTH IT! There are web sites where users advise each other on the easiest ways of using it. Pros: no waste, no chemicals, change less often, no odor, cheaper than one-time-use products, long lasting Cons: takes time to get used to, you will get menstrual fluid on your hands By Diane P

No, you have no idea how much I love this thing and how much I want to promote it's sheer awesomeness. This is the best thing for monthly circumstances that I can imagine! With out thought anymore, I can place and remove it with ease. It's easy to clean, it's durable, comfortable, and I cannot live with out this thing. At first, I was very weary. I have a copper IUD, so I was told 'I was going to bleed like a stuffed pig'. I hate tampons because I ever bled enough and they were dry and uncomfortable and I had that everlasting fear of TSS in the back of my mind. Pads where the second worst thing on the planet, they had a horrible smell, they made me uncomfortable, they dried my sensitive skin out, they itched, they just made the lining of my underwear feel funky from the glue stuff, they bunched, GROSS, but not as bad as tampons. I did my research and found this marvel, I was skeptical at first but then I found a live journal devoted to this, the luna cup and several other variations and the women who have experience using them. There's a long FAQ section with everything from removal to cleaning to insertion to trouble shooting etc. These ladies are a huge help, look them up. These and some reusable pads (I got gladrags, they do not have them on this site though) and I was set. I still am! I'm NEVER going back to the waste of materials that pads and tampons are. This is so much more comfortable. At first it was a bit uncomfortable and seemed to be a bit of a fuss, but after month 3 it was like second nature. It does take some adjustment time, but really, it's amazing how I've lived so long with out one of these. Why did I wait so long? I'm 42 and wish I would have started using a Diva Cup years ago. Love it! I will say that I might have a low cervix *or* am "loose" (have had seven kids! smile) because the cup lies low and is a touch uncomfortable the way it pokes out a little at these times. BUT this slight discomfort is not so much that I would ever going back to icky tampons (blech). It's well constructed and I can tell it will last for years. YAY! By Jessica H
