The Recycled Market Bags are a bit smaller than the Recycled Wave Totes but still hold plenty. Great-looking & super durable. Its heavy-duty construction provides another benefit: these shopping bags can stand on their own to facilitate easy loading. Constructed with tough as nails material the bags include box stitching at stress point. Holds about double the amount of a plastic grocery bag. Also great as a carry-all for around town or travel tote.

When I ordered this bag in blue I was excited because I thought the catfish on the bag were really cute and I liked the idea of supporting the cause. However, upon arrival I was really really disappointed in the bag. Although it is very well made, the print on the bag looked NOTHING like what is displayed online. I was further disappointed by the customer service at reuseit. They claim "Satisfaction Guaranteed" but I am afraid I am less than satisfied by their response. I was told that each item is "unique" and that if I want to return it, fine, but I have to pay for the shipping. This is really not good customer service. First, do not display these bags online in a manner that does not represent the product that you will recieve in any way. Of course, they only put the cute versions of the bag so that they will sell. My bag had the NOSE of one fish on the bag and that was all!! 26$ is way too much to pay for a product that is not what you expect to receive. I understand that these are unique handmade items and I expect a bag that is not exactly like what is online but come one people!! You only display the really cute ones and then give me one that has half a freaking fish AND then expect ME to pay the shipping to return it. I am so disappointed to be treated this way by customer service after spending over 100$ on this site and enthusiastically recommending it to others. At this point, I am not sure I would buy anything else from reuseit.

I love the material that these bags are made out of. They are just the right height for grocery shopping. I have some taller shopping bags that require more effort to put the stuff in the bags because of their tallness, but these are just right. Everyone always admires them when I shop with them. I've had two for a really long time, and they've held up very well. I just bought two more because I like them so much! They're also great for car trips because it's so easy to get stuff in and out of them, and they stand up really well. The long handles make it easy to sling it over your shoulder.

I was one of the first to purchase Gecko bags - Market, Wave and Bucket - when they first appeared on this site. I still use them A LOT and am now in awe at how well they have held up given the way they've been used all these years.



Yes, these bags start at $20 plus, but they prove the adage "You get what you pay for". These bags are an investment, not just a purchase.

2.0 Wish I could give 5 stars, but....

The Gecko Traders bags are beautifully designed, and I owned a few of them before I realized they cannot be used to transport anything wet, as there is, in fact, the real possibility of color transfer. Granted, it takes a lot to get the color to transfer, but the point is, the color is not permanent and can either rub or bleed off.

Here is how I found out: Worried about this possibility, and wanting to know if the bags could be washed intermittently, I tried washing a couple of them in the machine (cold water, mild detergent, gentle cycle). They came out fine, if a little faded. I did notice some of the color on one of them had been removed in places. I also noticed what looked like color transfer on one bag, so I dabbed at the spot with a little rubbing alcohol. To my horror, the color completely dissolved! Then I decided to try hand scrubbing them to remove the graphics entirely, but it proved to be way too labor intensive. Now they sit in a closet unused, while I try to figure out what to do with them. So sad! If only, if only the recycled fabric had been somehow sealed before the bags were sewn so they could be safely used for the many purposes they are designed for!

We have a similar bag to the Gecko Market Bag and it's lasted us for years. Having a second one is great as it means twice the sturdy carry-all awesomeness. The bag is water resistant and easy to clean (just a quick rinse or wipe down works fine).

I use them daily for carrying the children's toys, at the beach, for anything and of course, the groceries. They are very interesting to look at and people ask about the bags all the time. They will last forever as they are so incredibly well made. I love that they are recycled and I am using them instead of awful plastic bags. I have even used one as a purse! They also make great gifts!!!

1.0 SHIPPED WRONG COLOR / HASSLE W/REFUND

Purchased 4 of these market bags. The wrong color was shipped. All 4 bags. The bins had been stocked incorrectly and the packers didn't catch the mistake thus customers ordering Blue / Green received only green bags. Requested label to ship back. Was instructed before authorizing a label they had to first make certain it was their mistake. They finally acknowledged it was. Shipped the merchandise back. When they paused to send the label, I decided I would not be making another purchase with them and just wanted a full refund. Well, here we are 2 weeks later and they still have not refunded my paypal account. I have the impression the company has shoddy customer service issues. Have sent email expressing 2 weeks is long enough to wait for a refund. What a hassle ! How many mistakes can a company make with what should have been a simple purchase and a simple return ? Makes you appreciate the professionalism of other companies such as LL Bean and Zappos.

I just came back to reusable bags after two years of owning this bag. It has held up very well and i really put it to work, but un-fortunately has come apart from the seam on one handle where it meets the top of the bag. I'm sure i can fix that with a lil bit of very tight sewing. It's also worn at the same spots, but no biggie for 2 yrs of wear and tear, considering what i paid. Aside from that, this bag has been my favorite of all the reusable bags i have used. It is a workhorse. I use it to bike with my groceries and pile the produce and heavy products sky high. Like others have said, the fact that it stands up when filling and un-filling it is great. It's a cute bag and i get compliments as well. Oh and they're not kidding about the smell, but i just gave it a bath with fabric softener and left some inside the bag for a few days until it was no longer funky. Also, yes it bleeds, but i live in North florida where it is extremely humid on a regular basis and i think it has rubbed off on me once! I wouldn't suggest taking it to the pool or if you do , keep it far away from the water, same goes for the beach. Nuff said, besides GET THIS BAG. Seriously, for real.

I have owned a six of these for several years (in pink!) and they carry such a heavy load, are totally waterproof, have super useful side pockets and are so bright they cheer up even the most dreary shopping day. I use these not only for groceries, but for ALL shopping. I just bought some more for my 22 year old daughter as she has just moved into her own apartment. They make terrific gifts!

I keep this bag folded up inside my Reisenthel market tote to handle the overflow. The checkers love that it stands up and stays open while they're packing it. It's lightweight but very strong and holds a surprising amount. Because of another reviewer's comment about the ink rub-off I wiped it down well with an old cloth diaper before using it the first time. I did get a bit of rub-off from the red ink but haven't had any transfer since then. It wipes clean easily and folds up neatly, and the fun, colorful print elicits comments every time I shop.

The previous reviewers of this product are insane. While I agree that, conceptually, this bad is great, there is one major flaw that trumps all of its positive features. Specifically, the bag comes with a disclosure statement that basically tells you that the ink used in printing the bag for its original, intended use is not stable in its new purpose. As a result, if you purchase this bag, you may very experience what I have experienced: both discoloration my hands (easy to wash off) and staining of your clothes if you sling the bag over your shoulder - both at the shoulder itself and where the bag rubs along your torso. Buyer beware. It would have been helpful to see the disclosure BEFORE purchase.

These bags are simply amazing. They hold much more than you expect and can be used to carry quite heavy loads. I don't think twice now about filling it up with bottles or tins from the supermarket. Once on your shoulder they don't even feel heavy. I can cary much more in two of these than I could with plastic bags and I still have two hands free to carry more so I go to the supermarket less often. I love this bag!

I got these bags for Christmas presents and one for myself. Everyone loved them, the unique style and sturdiness. The grip is just right, and the bag holds more than I expected. There was a musty smell inside as had been noted by a few other customers. I didn't have a lot of time to air outside, so I put a few dryer sheets (Bounce) inside and that did the trick. Also, the shipping and delivery was incredibly fast, and it was only $4.95 regardless of order size. I would definitely order more.

I LOVE my new Gecko Traders bags! They are super sturdy. They are stylish and fun and long lasting. I get lots of compliments on my bags. They can easily fold up to fit inside your purse. I love this bag! It is sturdy and water proof and very stylish. My only complaint is that when you said the dye wasn't colorfast, you REALLY meant it. The dye was getting all over my clothing and hands just from the moisture of a warm summer day. I found that a soak and drip dry in warm salt water worked without changing the finish of the bag.

5 STARS!!! I couldn't give this bag a better review, I took my chances and bought 5 right off the bat and I am 100% thrilled with my purchase. Besides being the perfect size for any type of shopping--grocery, Target and even the mall, I use them for just about everything now! These bags are great quality, super durable, with comfortable handles, not to mention colorful and fun to boot!

Great bag - good looking and well made. I use it every day. Handle is long enough to carry from the shoulder and short enough to carry in hand. Only complaint is that the dye transfers if you rest your hands or arms on the bag for more than a few minutes. Not enough of a drawback to keep me from purchasing similar bags though.

These Gecko Traders bags are incredible! I use the Market Bag for the grocery store because the Bucket Bag can get overfilled and heavy, fast. I use the Bucket Bag for swim and sand toys for my kids. These are lovely and I haven't met a bagger yet who hasn't loved these bags. They are strong and durable.

The colors in this bag (the blue/green) are beautiful. Gave one as a gift and kept one, we both are using them as carry-all bags and are stopped numerous times by women wanting to know where we got them. So far seem to be very sturdy. Very happy with my purchace.

The Gecko Traders market bags are great! They're well made and fun to use because they are so bright and colorful. I was very happy with the service from your company, too -- I had seen the same bags elsewhere, and you guys had by far the best price and shipping cost. The only problem was I gave one away as a gift and now I need to get more!

I was very excited to order this bag, I bought it as a gift, It is very large and seems like it will be a great bag for groceries or even going to the beach or pool, the material has a slight smell to it, but i think it will fade with time. It seems to be very durable and its very unique. My friend absolutely loved it.

These bags are unlike anything else you'll see. I ordered one along with some PET bags, & recently ordered 2 more in the orange & pink. At least one will be a gift if I can bear to part with it. People love receiving these bags, & customer service people seem to get a kick out of them also. They are strong, hold more than twice what an average plastic bags does, & when not in use or in my car, I like to keep at least one hanging on the wall. It looks cool.

These bags are brilliant. Sturdy and light, and beautiful. When I carry them to the grocery store, I am always asked about them, which helps in the message to others to stop using plastic. And, while I bought them for grocery shopping, I now use them for all sorts of purposes. The fact that they are recycled from rice bags adds to their greatness. Bravo.

5.0 Just got my bags yesterday

Just got my bags yesterday. The photos do not do the bags (Dark pink/orange) justice - They are *so* beautiful - and just the right size for carrying two or three plastic bags' worth of groceries. I already own several Gecko Traders products (Wave Tote, shoulder bag, cosmetic bags) and know from experience how sturdy the fabric is and that it's fairly water-resistant. One small suggestion: Please offer these bags with longer handles, possibly dual handles. The handles currently in place on the bag are nice, but they're too short to function as shoulder straps.

I ordered three of these bags for Christmas gifts and was very pleased with their appearance and quality. My daughters seemed pleased as well. To make it even better, I have seen similar, but not-so-pretty, bags in a local shop at nearly twice the price.
