Millions of pounds of single-use dry cleaning bags end up in landfills each year, not to mention the money and natural resources they waste. Bringing your clothes to the cleaner in a reusable Green Garmento bag is a simple step you can take to cut back on waste. Plus, it's more durable than flimsy plastic and has 2 strong handle straps and one long duffel-bag style strap, so it makes carting your garments to and from the cleaner even easier.
The bag has inner loops and a hole at the top for hangers and a cord that cinches the bottom closed to protect your clothing. The medium-sized Green Garment bag is roomy enough to hold 10-14 garments and long enough to cover a trench coat. Also functions as a duffel bag or hanging laundry basket.

Design and Functionality Versatile design can be used three ways. Use your Green Garmento reusable dry cleaning bag as a duffel to take clothes to the cleaner and to protect freshly dry cleaned garments. Between trips to the cleaners, use it as a hanging hamper.
While we aren't thrilled about the material, we decided to add this product because it is a truly innovative solution.
Materials Made out of 100% recyclable non-woven polypropylene.
Sustainability Each piece of clothing cleaned and stored in the Green Garmento saves on one single-use dry-cleaning bag that would otherwise sit in a landfill for years.
About Green Garmento Green Garmento was founded in October 2008 by Jennie Nigrosh and Rick Siegel with an understanding that each year, millions of pounds of single-use dry-cleaning plastic bags are wasted each year. Their goal was simple: to reduce that number significantly. By offering consumers a reusable alternative to single-use plastic dry-cleaning bags, they’ve managed to do their part to rid landfills of additional plastic waste.
Care Instructions Spot clean with a cloth or machine wash cold, short cycle. Hang dry.
Tips Do not use more than 15 garments per Green Garmento.
I approached my local dry cleaner with trepidation, worried based on some of the previous reviews that he might not want to deal with this bag. As it turned out, he was happy to oblige. This bag saves not just the plastic bags but also the paper shoulder-covers that normally go under them. If your dry cleaner doesn't want to use this bag, switch to another dry cleaner.
Our dry cleaner is happy to work with these reusable garment bags! I bought 2 so I can keep one at home while one is at the cleaner. However, I don't put the dirty clothes in the bag - why do I want to store dirty clothes in there when the bag won't be washed before the clean clothes are put in? So I just wrap the bag, burrito style, around dirty clothes when I take them in. Also, not a fan of the side zipper, but unsure how this could be improved. So glad to not be tossing all that plastic any more!
This is a well construced bag and I will use it for storage and to keep an extra change of clothes clean when I carry it. However none of the local cleaners--including the "green" ones will process our dry cleaning without returning it in the plastic bags, it is just too labor intensive for them to track and use my reuseable bag. On the other hand two of them did say that I could return the plastic bag for re-use, so I am more careful when I remove the plastic bags. So thanks for getting me to ask about those plastic bags in the first place. Again I will get use from this bag, just not the one I had planned.
