I really love these bags. They are super sturdy, however the Velcro is super strong. It feels like you're tearing open the fabric when you open the bag. It's a bit loud, too. You also have to hold down one side in order to get enough leverage to open it! I like them and I'm not sure this is a negative quality or not, but I thought I should share. I use this one for my 8 year old and my 6 year old uses the softer Lunch Taxis - with a friendlier Velcro system. By mardelle F

I thoroughly enjoy using my LunchSkins. They work great for basic sandwiches and such. Have recommended them to friends, family and church (for fundraiser)If I were to look for ways to expand the product line or add features, I'd be interested in a similar product that seals water tight.
I personally take orange slices (segments) and sliced apples, which would leak using the LunchSkin.
If you could put in a heavy duty (for more than single use) zip-type, it's be great...

After ordering five of them I reordered an additional twomore. One of my concerns that as opposed to a ziploc sandwich bag the bread on sandwiches might become dry if I pre-made sandwiches. Not the case. I feel good about not using all the sandwich bags that we were consuming weekly for our lunches. Not only will we see a savings in not buying plastic lunch bags, but we will save the environment as well. Believe me I am not a die hard environmentalist but I do like to do what I can...

i love how the bag is durable and constructed to last at least during this school year, if not longer. i've had other reuseable sandwich bags before, and over time they became moldy and greasy, and unable to hold food adequately. the print is vibrant and will not fade. the size is a little tight for a whole sandwich, but for other snacks it's a perfect size. I used these bags all last year for my daughter's lunches and they are still in decent condition. For comparative purposes, I purchased the cloth sandwich bags as well, and find the lunchskins easier to clean, and therefore, these get the most use. (The others recommend laundering.) Flipping them inside out is mildly challenging because they can be stiff, but it is easy to wipe the insides with a sponge or pop them in the dishwasher. They are great for sandwiches and chips or other dry snacks, but I wouldn't put a pickle in them because they are not airtight. Although they are a pricey investment, I feel good using less plastic baggies. Unfortunately, they do not replace plastic baggies in every instance. Because I only make my daughter half a sandwich, I find I use the snack size more frequently than the full size. However, if I run out of that size, the lunchskins fold in half easily. Love the pattern choices, too, but why wouldn't they make matching patterns in all sizes? By Christina M

I'm not sure why everyone loves this brand so much. I adore the graphic designs and bold colors, but my bags faded so quickly and don't look cute anymore. The velcro on one has torn loose, too. These have been the least durable of the 3+ brands I have tried. Reusies has been my favorite. They hold up well, look cute, but the best part is they have an extra strip of the soft velcro so the bag can be large for a sandwich or fold over itself to snack-baggie size. By Jacqueline L

I have some other snack bags from another maker.. and it has cloth on the outside and a water-resistant"ish" material on the inside. They seem more luxurious than this bag. It's a well made bag, the stitching and everything, it just seems kind of cheap..However! It's great that they are dishwasher safe! I gave one to my boyfriend and pointed out this fact (he's a guy.. everything! goes in the dishwasher at his house!).

We have been using these bags for about 2 years now, and overall I'm happy with them. They are prettier, more frugal, and more eco-friendly than plastic baggies, probably food-safer too. (I have had allergic reactions to clear plastic bags) Like many non-disposables though, they DO require a little extra care. They are best for dry or only slightly moist things, like sandwiches, or pita wedges for dipping. I don't put them into the sink, because if you get messy food (like olive oil, yikes!) on the velcro it's quite difficult to clean it thoroughly. They have held up well to gentle washing - I turn them inside out, wash them gently, and dry them propped open - make sure they are thoroughly dry! I'm careful to be gentle turning the corners out, and only use bamboo utensils in the bag with them, I can imagine they could be easy to puncture or tear the seams, but considering they are still going strong after daily usage in both adult and child lunches, I have no complaints. The patterns are cute too, and not only have I saved money from not buying plastic baggies, I have saved the time it takes to buy box after box of baggies. I was disapointed with the material and style of stiching. The bag is a single layer, with unfinished edges inside. The material was folded printed sides together, stiched, then turned with print out, leaving the inside edges raw. The velcro was even stiched the same and now the loops are inside the bag and catches the food. I wanted a doluble lined bag like other snack/sandwich bags available on this site, but was temped by the bulk price. Not again, I'll spend the extra money on something else. By Jessica S

I get lots of positive comments on them and I always direct them to the reuseit site so they can get their own. I would like to see more of a zip-lock type bag, if there is something wet-like washed fruit it isn't always waterproof.Colors and styles are great-they look very cool.

Ordered the whales & crab pattern resuable sandwich bags as goodie snack bags for daughter's ocean themed b-day party. Order arrived timely as expected. Colors were vibrant. Velcro fastens really well. Parents seemed to like them.I did notice a strong odor as I worked with them. Not sure if it was the dyes or what but there was a chemical type smell that was not appealing. Perhaps I noticed because of the volume (20 bags). I haven't washed yet.
I love the zipper on the itzy ritzy products. I wish they were available here. Curious to see how the velcro and vibrant colors hold!

I purchased 8 for my 2 girls to use throughout the week for school snack. I was diligent in hand washing and drying as directed. I LOVE these little pouches! As a full-time college student with two part-time jobs, I end up eating at least 1-2 meals on-the-go every day. My husband and I take our lunch to work everyday. We were using hundreds of plastic baggies each year. I have madde all the changes I thought I could make to be more green until I saw these! Very disappointed when the velcro strip was not sewn securely and was tearing loose the first day of use. Naturally it was on the pouch side and difficult to repair. I am a big fan of Lunch Skins, in fact, I am thinking of adding them to birthday gifts for other kids. I have three kids and started using them daily for lunches last Fall. It is now a year later, and we are still using the same bags. They have become a little faded after LOTS of use, but work perfectly and are easy to clean. My only suggestion is to NOT pick ones in the navy/dark colors. It is difficult to hand write your name over those shades if you want to label them with your child's name. By josie y

My sister sent me these bags as a gift. Not only do I have 3 boys, but I'm a 2nd grade teacher as well, so we use a lot of baggies! I was so excited when they arrived! I loved the design of the fabric and idea of not having to use plastic for our lunches. After a few uses & washing, they started giving off an odd, chemical odor. Then I started thinking... they say it's a food safe material, but what exactly are these made of? What's involved in the process of making the fabric. Do they biodegrade or end up in land fills like plastic? In the end, I just stopped using them. I LOVE your website. I live in an area where I have few shopping options. I bought two of these and I use them nearly every day. The velcro is great, and I am never worried about leakage. I pack grapes and carrots in them and never feel at the mercy of fast food places any longer since I can just grab a pre-made, healthy snack from my lunch bag or even my purse when I use these pouches. The designs are great and it has an almost vintage feel. It would be magical if they made a model of these that was insulated, which would extend the shelf life of lunches... By Ryan A

My wife and I have used these bags extensively (and nearly exclusively) for our two kids' lunches during the past school year (approximately nine months). For the most part, we washed the bags inside out in the washing machine nightly. While we purchased the LunchSkins to cut down on our use of plastic baggies, there are two major drawbacks to the LunchSkin line. One, as was flagged by another reviewer, our bags began to smell chemically / terribly over time. We washed them frequently, too! Second, the bags become very tiring over time, especially with school-aged children. Nearly everyday our kids would come home with lunchboxes full of crumbs. The crumbs fall out of the LunchSkins (even when they are closed) --- think cookies, crackers, bread, EVERYTHING. It gets old is all I can say. I truly wish the LunchSkins worked better for us (because I believe in everything they are trying to do) but after nine months of use, we are looking for a better alternative to plastic bags (still). I have tried other products for my bag lunches and all have failed me. These are good if the food is dry, I had a sandwich with tomatoes and mayo and juice escaped into my backpack. I will have to put into plastic bag which kind of defeats the purpose. They also stated these were dishwasher safe, which is true but I found the food particles get caught into the velco. I have enjoyed using this product, however for sandwiches I'm looking for something different. My sandwich is awfully dry after being stored in one of these bags for four hours. I do agree with others that the price is steep for only one bag. On the plus side, the bag is well constructed, easy to clean, and holds just the right amount of other lunch food, such as carrot sticks or other vegetables, crackers, nuts, grapes or cut up fruit. I love my LunchSkins! They are easy to use, easy to wash and great for holding all kinds of foods. The only thing they aren't great for is wet foods like very juicy fruit. I should have figured this out beforehand, esp. since they don't claim to be watertight, but in case anyone was wondering, I've run the experiment and things like fresh pineapple leak. :) Otherwise, they are terrific for things like nuts, sandwiches, cut up veggies and more. Highly recommend for toting your food and snacks around. Large holds several small muffins, small holds a handful of cut-up peppers or ~ 1/2 cup of nuts. By Leah H

We like them. They are a bit tedious to wash by hand, but considering how much we are not putting into the landfills, it's worth it. I washed them in the washer & the color faded a bit, but again, I just hate washing anything by hand. I'll try them in the dishwasher when I have a chance. I ordered both the sandwich and snack sizes of this product. The patterns offered were one of my favorites as they were more adult than some of the other brands. Once I received them I was a little disappointed. They are made of one layer of material. One side has the pattern, this faces out. And the inside is like a plastic barrier painted on the material. The plastic and and inks are BPA-free, lead-free and phthalate-free, but they did not seem as high quality as I was expecting. I was much happier with the other brand I ordered below. By Beverly L

Issues I have is that if I leave food stored in there, the smell of the chemical material leaches into the food. They are cute. My whole family is using these Lunchskins...from crunchy snacks to fruit and veggies to sandwiches. Although, after using one for red peppers and another for a pb&j sandwich, even after cleaning, the inside is somewhat stained. But, they generally wash easily in the dishwasher or with a sponge and I have even thrown them in the drier and they come out fine. I feel so much better not using plastic baggies anymore! The design for these is a good one--easy to access and open. My only complaint is that they have a funny chemical odor (maybe from the food safe liner?) that has not washed out after a few weeks. I love the product and especially the idea of not sending all that plastic to the landfills. However, the velcro has come undone on the bags. The velcro has a very strong grip but, it seems to me that the thread cannot withhold the constant tugging each time you open it. In fact, it came undone the very first time I opened the bag. I purchased a number of the sandwich- and snack-size bags. They've worked great so far. They look fabulous and are sturdy (tough fabric and strong Velcro). They clean right up in the dishwasher (I place them on the prongs on the top shelf). The snack size is pretty small (better for a child than a teenage boy), but the sandwich size has all the room we've needed. I'm really happy with the purchase and already ordered a second batch. Good at saving plastic bags. My daughter loves it. The only thing for me is that snacks (mostly what we have used it for so far) can get stale. Of course, I know they aren't supposed to be in there forever so I just need to remember to take out anything that is left so it gets sealed and stays fresh. I turn them inside out and throw them in the DW. They always come out great! I have washed them at least 5 times & they look as good as new! I'm not working & haven't taken the lunches I used to, but I still figure that we've saved 4-5 ziplock bags this week alone! I also find these nice for storing small veggies in the fridge - My garlic is in a blue shark bag now! My daughter just started Kindergarten and I noticed just how many plastic baggies we were going through in just a few days. These are great! The sandwich size doesn't squish a decent sized sandwich, but can also be used for a larger snack. The velcro closure fits snugly and doesn't allow any snacks to fall out. These have been super! They are durable, attractive and the hook and loop closure runs the full width of the bag which allows it to close completely. It easily accommodates sandwiches on our wide, wheat bread if we put them in sideways. To help juge size, it holds three stacked pieces of bread and closes completely. Love the name feature. I brush out the corners before cleaning the inside to be sure nothing is caught in there. With allergies in the house, it is nice that the kids can easily spot their own colors so we don't have to worry as much about any allergen residue being left inside. I previously had the wrap-n-mat and I like this product better. I wanted something that could be run through a dishwasher or washing machine to get it clean. I also wanted something that could take some variation in temperature. (The plastic on the wrap-n-mats distorted because of the heat of the bread I toasted for sandwiches.) The Lunchskins are well-constructed and quite durable & heavy-duty, and I also enjoy the fun patterns. They are a good size that can accommodate a pretty thick sandwich. I like that they are easy to get clean. One minus: they are not totally leak-proof (liquid can get out from the where the flap folds over), so be aware of this when you pack your bag. By Nina H
