4.0 Just what I needed
Comments about Product:
I don't have a huge kitchen and so it's always a struggle to find good storage options. These sacks take up very little wall space and, since you can't miss them, you don't have to worry about forgetting the bag of potatoes you put in your cabinet and discovering your kitchen overrun by fruit flies (fun times...).The interior is dark but it breaths, so less green potatoes and fewer moldy onions.
Great product. Only wish the cute hooks in the picture came with them.

I received my keep sacks last week and am a huge fan. They are very well made, esthetically pleasing, and do the job. They keep your veggies from seeing light, but also allow for good ventilation. 4.0 good but...

I got these on a whim--the small garlic size, medium onion size, and large potato size. I use all three and haven't seen any green sprouts on my veges, which I used to all the time when I just kept them in (what I thought was) a dark cupboard.My gripes:
* The pinch-to-open cinchers are clumsy to use. I can't have one hand full of onions and expect to open the sack with the other. I have to use both hands to open either end.
* Once the veges are in the sack, I can't see them at all. That is to be expected because these are intended to keep veges in the dark (ahem), and I haven't had any veges go bad such that I end up sticking my hand into molding goo, but it sort of bothers me. I do look and smell when I open the sack, and they are machine washable, so maybe this is just my making a mountain out of a keep sack.
* I can't fit a whole lot of veges in there. Maybe that's a good thing, though, as it forces me to buy and use veges up more regularly, so we end up eating fresher food.
I'm still giving these 4 stars because they do what they say, they're machine-washable, and in the end I've got better fresher veges. I figure I'll get used to working with these and they will have ended up improving my kitchen workflow.

5.0 perfect solution for a small space

these make storing winter staples a no brainer. in my apartment kitchen with limited counter and storage space, these were a great addition. they're incredibly sturdy--even with the potato keep sack full i don't have to worry--and work exactly as described. best method i've found to keep these veggies from going bad or sprouting. highly recommended. I'm pretty excited about these and finally having a good place to store my potatoes, onions and garlic, both out of the light and with some air circulation.Time will tell how well they work, but I have one small beef already: I wish the potato and onion bags were a little more generously sized.
I put the contents of a new 3 pound bag of yellow onions in the onion bag and it just barely fit, with the drawstring top bulging. Larger onions (and these were just your standard yellow onions) in particular were problematic; a big Spanish onion would nearly take up the whole width of it, and I would guess you could only fit 4 of them in it, and the largest ones would have trouble squeezing through the opening.
I was able to put a 5 pound bag of potatoes, plus 2 pounds of sweet potatoes into the potato bag. Again they just barely fit with the top bulging.
I really think the onion bag should be the size of the potato bag, and the potato bag even larger. The garlic / shallot bag is fine.
This is not the end of the world for me. They are big enough for my needs most of the time, but now and then I will have to leave a few onions or potatoes out. But someone with a big family would definitely not find these adequate. I'll give it a four with the idea of these being for a single person or couple.

We are a larger family of 6, while these have worked exactly as promised, they could be a bit larger. They do not accommodate a whole bag of onions or potatoes, so the box hiding under my table still keeps the rest of my potatoes and onions safely in the dark. Otherwise, it's a great find! These work well and keep the food in a dark environment, while looking cute hanging on my kitchen wall. Please take note, that these bags won't replace a root cellar...so you will still have to eat up the potatoes/onions/garlic in a normal amount of time. As for sizes, the potato and onion bags are big enough to hold a grocery store amount of produce (about the same size as the plastic mesh bags). By Maryli M

Goodness how long have I been looking for and trying different storage methods for my potatoes, onions, and garlic. This is the only one that has ever worked. I left some store bought organic yukon gold potatoes in the bag for almost 2 months in a warmish kitchen. I had my husband, who grew up by a potato farm & is very fussy about them, check out the potatoes. They had grown some eyes, but they were barely squishy, still very firm. He was impressed and declared them fit to eat. Practically none of my garlic has started to grow green inside because of sprouting. And the onions have kept their firmness. I"m buying extra bags today for: sweet potatoes, red/white onions, and shallots. By Caitlin S
