PR Intern

Title: Senior PR Intern

Reports to: Community & PR manager

Location: Downtown Chicago (River North)


About us: "Green" e-commerce company dedicated to serving the triple bottom line (people, planet, profit) has an immediate need for an outstanding person to fill our Senior PR Intern role. We offer a selection of smart, innovative, eco-friendly products that help people consume fewer disposable items (shopping bags, bottled water, paper towels, etc.)

Description: We have an immediate need for a PR intern to support our relations and media outreach. Our PR intern will strategize and execute on all holiday-related PR and marketing efforts along with our Community & PR Manager.  

Responsibilities include:

  • Writing pitch letters and press releases
  • contact list management
  • PR follow up (sending product samples, maintaining editorial calendars, following up on pitches, etc)
  • media trend research

We’re moving fast, so we’re looking for a sharp, high-caliber intern with a passion for our mission.

  • Flexible multi-tasker
  • Thorough researcher, able to quickly digest and synthesize ideas
  • Experience with Constant Contact a plus, but not required

Education:

  • Current student or recent graduate –Journalism, PR or Communications major.
  • Marketing and/or PR experience preferred (internships, part-time jobs OK)

Compensation: $1500 stipend, this intern will also gain experience working with basic html, CMS, various blogging and content management systems and several other valuable e-commerce skills.

Hours: 3-4 months, flexible scheduling.

Start date: immediate

We have an entrepreneurial work environment with a lot of autonomy. While a casual environment, work is fast paced and outstanding results are expected. We expect this position to be 10-20 hours / week. Approximate office hours: M-F, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM.
