Tips
- Keep your produce saver in an empty plastic berry container in your crisper. It will keep the saver dry while allowing for air circulation.

I'm a big fan of reuseable shopping bags so after the clerk at my local store told me to please go home and throw out the bags I had been using for 2+ years due to the seams beginning to split, I did just that but only after finding replacements. I decided to give these a try after reading the previous reviews and am really glad I did. They are sturdy and hold a hefty load of groceries. They also stand up well while the clerk packs them since they resemble regular grocery bags. I've got 3 sets of these tan EarthTote Shopping Bag Set over the length of 4 years cos my mom visited and she wanted some, then my sister-in-law visited and she wanted those also - my neighbors and a bunch of shoppers got interested (which got directed to this site). Then imagine my surprise when they're also selling EarthTote Insulated Shopping Bag, which I bought 2... but I just knew I would end up giving away one and buy some more. For description of EarthTote Shopping Bag and why I like so much - these are very durable (can hold the weight of 4 of 3-Litre soda bottles), washable (I recommend machine-washing the bags and then hang to dry quarterly), can stand on it's own (it's just a tad weak upright, but can stand if properly folded when not in use) and these are attractive than plastic or brown paper bag. I bought these bags as as gifts for my mother and mother-in-law and they are really nice. Definitely fit as much as a paper bag, but have the great handles and the pocket in the front. I would love to order a set for myself, but they are a little expensive for me. This set is the BEST! I had never used reusable bags before I got these, and I will NEVER go back to plastic! They are so durable yet so lightweight, and they hold so many groceries. I love that I can put the straps over my shoulders, keeping my hands free. Bag boys do not seem to mind these at all--actually some seem to prefer them because they can load so many groceries into one bag. The produce bags have worked very well also. Sturdy shopping bags which hold many items, stand easily, yet are relatively lightweight and will fold into a small enough area to cram into a stroller back pocket. These bags are by far the best reusable bags that I have ever purchased. They're so easy for baggers to use at the grocery store. In fact, normally the baggers frown when they see my reusable bags, but when I presented these they didn't seem to mind filling them up and sending me on my way. They're super sturdy and easy to tote around (I just toss them in the trunk of my car so they are there when I need them). It definitely makes lugging the groceries up the stairs much easier when I only have 4 bags as opposed to the 15 or 20 I normally receive when they use plastic. I would recommend to anyone! These bags are great! My first time using them was at a wholesale store, you know, they don't have bags period. These bags swallowed up aton of stuff!That made life easier. Then I took them to the grocery store and they held a full cart of things. I am very impressed. The bagger liked them too, because they do stand up on there own. The wide handles make them much more comfortable to carry than plastic bags. Construction seems very good. Looks like they will last a long time. Came with four cotton produce bags. Very handy. We purchased the ACME EarthTote shopping set a few weeks ago and we have been very pleased. The bags are very sturdy and because they stand up well, it makes it easier when putting groceries in the car because there are no flimsy plastic bags letting the contents spill everywhere. I have gotten some strange looks at check out but so far the clerks reactions have been positive. Some have even asked where I got the bags! To give you an idea of how much these bags will hold, we were able to fit about $120 worth of groceries in four bags. This did not include milk and can drinks which we carried as is. I may even begin to take the bags with me when I do other shopping at the mall because they are so convenient. It took me a few trips to the store to remember to bring them so now I keep them in my car. I still sometimes forget if I'm just running in for something quick. As I was walking out of the store on my first trip with these bags, someone actually commented "big enough bag". I filled 3 bags with 1/2 a cart full of food. Could have fit more, but I had bulky chip bags. It was so nice to only have to make one trip in the house with groceries. They are durable too. Before purchasing these bags, I used the plastic bags that were provided by the grocery stores. I would use at least 10-12 bags for each major shopping trip. After purchasing four EarthTote shopping bags, I stopped using plastic bags immediate! The EarthTote fit all of my groceries and they are comfortable to handle. (If you have someone doing your bagging for you, you might need to tell them to fill them to the top as people are used to doing that with the plastic and paper bags.) I got this set in tan, and the bags are so well-made I'm expecting them to last a very long time. The size is just right and so far, even shopping for five in our family, I haven't needed more than four bags for any one shopping trip. The handles are strong and more comfortable to carry than plastic bags, and the color is nice and neutral. I have also used the produce bags which came with the set and I feel even better about using them, because there didn't seem to be a lot of good re-use opportunities for those flimsy plastic produce bags you get in the market. They are lightweight and so they don't add to the weight that you pay for when buying produce at a price per pound. I love this entire set and plan to get some as gifts for Christmas this year! My husband and I absolutely love this shopping bag set. We have them in the trunk of our car so that we can grab them whenever we go shopping. The ACME EarthTotes stand upright and retain their shape. Items can be placed in them in a more organized manner - allowing for more to fit per bag. What used to fill 7-9 plastic bags now only takes two of our ACME bags. The cotton mesh bags have been great for holding our produce in the cart. These bags are great. I thought it might be akward using them at first but the checkers and baggers at the store seem fine with using them. It also makes my loading and unloading a lot easier. The black bags I purchaged are great. They are sturdy and hold a lot of merchandise. It does take more effort on my part to get the groceries in my bags. At the store they are so driven to put your purchases in plastic bags as fast as they can that you have to make them slow down and realize that you want your own bags. The first time I used them the clerk said, "That must be a lot easier to get your groceries home." I replyed, "Yes," but I was lying. It was such a hassel. I'm not giving up. Ordered recently so haven't had many chances to use the set but it seems great so far. Chose it for the guarantee, nylon weight, standard "paper bag" size, inconspicuous color, and value/variety of pieces in the set for the price (at the time I made my order). The tote bags are a great size and shape because it seems to be more like what most store personnel are accustomed to packing. I used to bring along my homemade set of various free-from-the-museum-or-whatever tote bags but they were floppy and annoying to pack. The ACME's are flexible/foldable but also they can almost stand up on their own because they're flat on the bottom and high/wide enough for easy packing with full hands as I go along. I ordered them in black and now I'm especially glad that I did because in black they don't look like grocery bags when used for other purposes. The first time I used them, I walked out of the grocery store feeling wonderfully positive and helpful toward reforming bad consumer habits that help this planet be a better place for my daughters ages 19 and 25. I regularly shop at two full-service grocery stores from which I live equi-distantly. Both of these stores sell canvas bags which feature the store name. I did not want to carry one store's bag into the other store and I did not want two separate bags to store and organize for usage according to the store I would visit. Therefore I was looking for something like the ACME EarthTote Shopping Bag set! And then here, at the website, I discovered the produce bags too and I use them FAITHFULLY. My wife and take this bag and two smaller ones for cold items and we can get out of the store without one paper or plastic bag. I ordered a shopping set- 4 acme totes, a couple fruit/veggie bags, and fridge bags for keeping veggies fresh. The set was a great value and I have LOVED using them. Everytime I've been asked "paper or plastic," I've said "reusable" and handed over my bags. The acme totes stand up on their own and are easy to pack. I believe they hold more groceries than a standard paper bag because they are sturdier. My only minor disappointment was receiving the black set of bags rather than the tan. I don't remember being offered an option upon check out and the thumbnail of my order displayed tan bags. Maybe the black will hide more use, as I've been using them for every shopping trip I make- not just the grocery store. Oh- I guess I have one more "complaint". I usually bring home 8 of their plastic bags every week, but using the ACME EarthTote bag they get a weeks worth of groceries packed into 2 bags! The cashier at Wal-Mart had obviously never had anyone bring their own bags before. He had no idea what to do so he scanned all my items and handed them to me to bag myself. Used my ACME Earth Totes for the first time today. For 20+ years I've been using the same 4 canvas bags which I purchased in Massachusetts and brought to Florida when we moved in 1991. The grocery clerk was delighted to use these new bags, which stood up with no fussing. My only advice, is to watch what the clerk is doing, as she filled one with all the heavy items. The bag had no problem, but because of the generous size, it was pretty tough carrying it, which made the handles really dig into my hands. I've been using my shopping bags occasionally over the last 2 months. I haven't given them a really rugged test but they seem much sturdier than I had expected. Given the stitch job (each end of the handle is stitched in only one location on the bag) that connects the handles to the bag, I would have thought it would rip or tear with a heavy load but so far, they've held up well. I was debating whether to buy these or heavy duty canvas bags simply because of the precarious stitching but I think they will work just fine. Very spacious bags. I wish the handles were longer so that they could be thrown over the shoulder. Fold pretty flat. Very utilitarian looking but who really needs to look fancy when they are grocery shopping. These bags were a great fit for my weekly grocery shopping, and I'm finding them so easy to use, I wonder how I got along without them. We've been using canvas bags for the last 15 years, which have grown wimpy from continued use and washing. It was time for an upgrade, and what I really like about these is that they're easy to fill because they keep their shape. I've also found that because of the construction, my shopping doesn't end up all over the back of my car like it often does with a more collapsible bag. They are easy to fold, compact enough to grab and go, and I find I'm loving the front pocket for shopping lists, coupons and anything else I need. These bags are just the greatest thing! They are exactly the same size as paper shopping bags but are stronger and more durable with a handle that is the perfect length. The bonus pocket on the front is great for car keys, wallet or to store coupons. I keep them in my car so they are always handy when I stop in to do my grocery shopping or even to pick up a just a few items. After much waiting I finally received my bags. I was so anxious to receive the bags that I would check the site every day to see if they had been shipped out. I wanted to receive them so I could try them out because I was tired of taking my plastic bags back to the store to reuse as they got holes in them very easily and then I would have to throw it away and get a new one. I just hate those plastic bags but I DO LOVE my new bags. I really enjoy going to the grocery store being able to carry my new bags in and use them with pride. I can cram a lot of stuff in these bags and know they won't rip or tear as they are made very well. I have already suggested to others that they buy these bags as they are great for the environemnt and very handy to use. I really love these bags. They are study and deep. They hold a lot of groceries without the worry of the bag breaking and are easy to carry by the nice handles they have. I use these bags for all kinds of things, not only groceries. I also take them into K-mart etc. and ask them to bag my things. I use one of them to take my lunch, coffee canister and water to work as we don't have facilities for any of these products at work. It's nice to feel that my bag is secure and ther is no worry of breaking before I get to where I'm taking them. They are so sturdy, and I love that this set comes with produce bags for at the store too. The black grocery bags have a side pocket that easily fits the produce bags in, when I am not using them. I was so sick of all the plastic bags stacking up in my cabinet. I hate to throw them away into a landfill, but I can't reuse them fast enough. So, this will save the earth from so many more bags. These bags are wonderful! I love how much stuff can fit in them. They are easy to load up because they stand well. 4 fit perfectly into a shopping cart, as long as they are not stuffed too much. The produce bags are wonderful also. They are very lightweight (we worried that they'd be too heavy and we'd have to empty them to measure what we were buying). This is a great deal for this price, and will be used for a LONG time. The only fault they have is they take up a lot of space when empty, I wish they could fit in my purse better. I LOVE my new bags! Trust me, you can put a lot more in there than you'd think. I used to come out of Wal-Mart with tons of plastic bags - they'd barely fit into one shopping cart. I can use the four bags I bought and get everything in there with only a few exceptions (larger items such as bathroom tissue). It helps me be even more conscientious about my shopping. After reading some articles on Earth Day, I decided to buy some reusable bags. I already recycle, etc... So I researched and bought The ACME Earth Tote shopping set in black. They are absolutely wonderful. They stand up on their on when filling, and they don't break! Very strong and durable. I've received many compliments on them already, and the Farmers Market where I shop wants to get some. I will definetly get my money's worth out of these bags for many years to come! I hate to sound like everyone else, but these bags are great. I researched a bunch of other bags, but these are far superior. At the market, when I would usually get 8-9 plastic bags, my stuff is fitting in 2-3 acme bags. They stay upright in the car and are quite durable. I would recommend to anyone. By Nicole C

I LOVE these bags and have received so many comments about them, especially from the baggers at the grocery store -- they love them. My only complaint is that they smell a little funny and sometimes cause my car to smell funny, too. It's probably the material and will most likely wear off with time. I haven't tried cleaning them, either. That would probably take away the odor. Still, using them has made grocery loading and unloading soooo much easier -- four bags instead of thirty little plastic ones! By ann b

These are really great bags. I find myself using them for a lot of things, from library books to organizing snacks to go to school to hauling things to my son's birthday party. I use them every time I go to Trader Joe's. They are very strong, and stand up well. I feel much more confident that they will hold a load than I do with paper bags. I thought the outside pocket was no big deal, but now I find that I put receipts or mail in there all the time. I sometimes even stick a paper in the pocket to stick out and identify what I've put in the bag. These are really perfect. By lindsey c

I purchased these bags to use for my weekly grocery trip. I got 4 of them. I love them. They are very sturdy and pretty easy to wipe clean. They stand upright on their own so they are easy to fill. Once unloaded they fold down just like a brown paper bag for easy storage. I would say that each bag is comparable to what fits in about 3 or 4 plastic grocery bags. By April H

Wow, these bags are perfect for my daily shopping sprees. I get so many compliments on them everywhere I go. I keep a few folded in the car and one at the top of my stairway. All my items needed for the following day go in it through the course of the evening. These bags rock! They're durable, simple, and the handles are a great feature. We used to use paper grocery bags, which didn't really hold up when we had to haul stuff in on a rainy day. We get some curious stares from people at the store now, but it's worth it -- we've cut back on waste, and enjoy the convenience of having our own bags. My husband gave this to me as a gift and I love it!
