Comments about Product:I had been toying with the idea of roasting my own coffee for a long time. I felt I was not getting the most flavorful cup of coffee without 'doctoring' it. I then heard about cold-brewing, did some reading and finally found the Toddy. I have since converted many friends to my brew. I find that my iced coffee during the warmer months are perfect without being watered down by ice and my hot drinks in the winter are 'off the wall great'!Glad I finally found it and now am searching for that perfect bean.Wish me luck!
Comments about Product:If someone would have told me that a brewing product can actually revolutionize coffee to make it the best tasting beverage EVER, I could not have believed it unless I had experienced it first hand.
If you have at least a moderate interest in coffee, do yourself a favor and purchase this product.
To brew a pot does require patience...since you're using cold water, it takes 12 hours (or overnight). But the taste results are outstanding.
My problem is that I'd like to drink this amazing coffee all day. I've usually been just a 1/2 cup-a-day coffee drinker. Not any more!
Comments about Product:I purchased the Toddy for my husband to do away with the instant packet habit, which he would use on occasion instead of brewing a full pot of coffee.
My first attempt at the brew was a little challenging because I was using whole beans at home and my grinder only holds about two ounces of beans (you need 12oz ). On the second shot, I went for the 12 ounce package of whole beans at the grocery store and took advantage of their grinder (set to 'course'). This made the brewing steps really easy.
As for the product itself: Kind of strange that it doesn't have a lid for the brewing pot - my solution to this has been to place a salad-size plate over it. Other gripe is the handle - there is no way I trust this handle to support a full brewing pot, so I end up placing another salad-size plate under it to support it (and also to put my mind at ease about possible leakage - which has not happened, by the way).
And for the taste? It's pretty good, I usually drink iced coffee, so it's convenient for me to take an already cold concentrate and just add water and minimal ice. My husband heats his up with the added water and says that he can definitely detect the lower acidity (this is a good thing). You can also adjust your preferred strength by the water to concentrate ratio.
I recommend purchasing a couple extra packets of filters when you purchase your Toddy because they are only good for 10 brews (1 brew = 1 12oz bag of coffee, which would last the average couple about a week)
Comments about Product:I was making cold-brewed coffee on my own using some glass pitchers and a for life tea filter to filter out the grounds. While this diy method worked, I almost always ended up spilling and making a huge mess. So, I asked for the Toddy system for my birthday and cold-brewing has never been easier! This product is worth the money. Cold-brewed coffee tastes amazing! It is less bitter and it brings out the different notes in the coffee. I usually drink mine iced, but recently mixed my concentrate with some warmed milk and it was the perfect latte. I also find that I don't need to add sweetener to cold-brewed coffee. The picture of the Toddy system makes it look small, but it is much bigger than you expect and makes enough concentrate for a week for my 2 coffee drinker household. The concentrate keeps great in the fridge.
Comments about Product:This makes our weekday routines just a bit easier, and everything counts! The coffee is much tastier than with other brewing methods, and this is especially a great method for when you want cold coffee drinks.
The one caveat is that you need to be careful with timing on the front end -- making sure you put coffee on in a timely manner so that there's enough concentrate in the morning for everyone who's drinking it, plus making sure that you put it on with good enough timing that you can drain it 12 hours later. We have become more adept at the timing, and we also keep some finer grind on hand for single-cup brewing in case we run out of cold-brewed concentrate.
Comments about Product:I am very pleased with this product, and the coffee is fantastic. Go ahead and buy extra filters and rubber plugs. I really won't drink my regular brew at home anymore, it is all cold brew.
