Perfect heavy duty no nonsense shoulder Bag at a fair price.
The Super Strong Cotton Canvas Messenger Shopping Bag is great for delivering Papers. It fits my Daughter perfectly, however I wish the stap was 6" longer for me, since I'm the one who carries the bag when it is full.
These shoulder bags are the best! I have 6 or 7. They are super strong and can carry lots of groceries. They can carry any else too - tool boxes, clothes, whatever. No more plastic bag boulder growing in my apartment. Since they have a wide shoulder strap your hands are free to open doors and your mail box.
I bought one of these bags about seven years or so back now. It's been in constant use ever since. It can comfortably hold more weight than I'd care to lift. And it's never so much as popped a stitch!
Now that I shop only once a week, I have to get a silly amount of stuff. That's why I had no hesitation in simply buying another of these brilliant bags. There's simply nothing else out there that compares.
This is a very versatile bag. I can pack a lot of stuff to take with me. Living on an island and facing evacuation occasionally, I can pack almost everything I need in this one bag. It could, however, use a snap in the middle of the opening. Best of all, it is Made in the USA!
I lost the use of an arm and the long strap on this bag allows me to carry things like groceries and larger items a that won't fit in a standard size bag. The bag is well-made and easily folds up nicely so I can keep it in my car and always have it when I need it. The delivery was right on time. I couldn't be more pleased
If you are looking for a traditional newspaper bag . . . this is it. Lightweight and sturdy. Can be a little flimsy but it is perfect for over the shoulder carrying of bulk items.
I brought 2 of the messanger bags, one for a gift and the other for my self. A well made American product. Well worth the money.
I got the bag for my son.He delivers newspapers and it has made that task much easier. Quality merchandise. Thanks reuseit !
I wanted a strong, well put-together canvas bag for lugging things around, for example, books to and from the library, and this nifty bag does the job very well.
I received my two “super strong cotton canvas carrier bags” about a month ago, and they are working great. I bought them because a work friend suggested that my conventional canvas carry sacks looked gay (not that there is anything wrong with that; he used the word “murse”). Searching for a solution, I was originally remembering Jean Seberg selling the International Herald Tribune in Breathless; it turns out, from stills anyway, that she was just holding the papers without a bag! Pretty woman. The bags (my subject here) are roomy, with a long, wide and slightly low shape. My first expedition was to Acme, where large containers of laundry and dish detergent, vegetarian chili, fruit and tomatoes all fit and coexisted through the walk home. A second trip by car also worked, although one plum did briefly escape. We were ready for a trip to Reading Market, where cheese, frisee and salad type stuff all fit and were happy together.
I can carry the sack either on shoulder or (better) crossways across chest, like Antonio Banderas, Arnold Schwarzenegger or Raquel Welch carry ammo belts. The latter position has added advantage of disguising my belly, at least from one angle. With heavy loads one might wish for a padded strap, or even bearers, but some degree of suffering is educational. A trip to Whole Foods was also successful, although, even carrying a complete set of Remembrance of Things Past to impress the ladies with my sensitivity, all I came back with was groceries. Next time I’ll try a Vin Diesel DVD.
To test longevity, I washed/dried one of the bags. It limped back from the cellar with serious shrinkage (see Seinfeld episode), not to mention wrinkles. However, still works fine, and seems to be recovering.
All in all, lots of utility and cool look. Maybe they can print International Herald Tribune on the side? Daily Planet?
My favorite use for this bag is bookshopping. I am avid reader and make trips to Half Price books in Texas on regular occasion. This bag holds a ton of books, keeps thems corralled so they're not spilling out and looks great. I also use it for smaller items that I purchase in bulk at Costco and even at the regular grocery store. Definitely worth the money.
So far this bag has taken everything I've thrown at it. If I wear it across my body it can hold an incredible amount of stuff, making it wonderful for walking trips through the farmer's market. Washable, durable, capacious...what more could I ask?
Great for groceries. Not as deep as regular grocery bags so you can spread your stuff out and not crush everything on the bottom. You can carry a lot as the shoulder strap saves wrists, elbows and shoulders. I fill mine till its really heavy as I hate to make two trips and so far it doesn't seem to phase it.
I'm usually skeptical to when it comes to messenger style bags. They are either not big enough, badly made or just ugly. I got this one in black to haul books back and forth from the library and the book store. I really like this bag and will be buying more for me and for presents. Seriously good bag.
This bag is unbelievably handy for carrying linens to and from my office. It is very generously sized and solidly constructed.
I initially purchased this bag as a symptom of the very problem with which it now helps-- the dreaded impulse buy. I have a habit of forgetting my list and I noticed that I had started to go into a store with the Workhorse bags and find so many things at a "bargain" that I would not have enough bags and end up needing a plastic bag or two. No more! Now I unroll and hook the bag on my cart; if it doesn't fit into the bag, it doesn't get bought.
Fits easily over the shoulder and across the chest for hands free use. I'm a massage therapist and carry laundry from car to 2nd floor office. Four sets of sheets as well as a few towels and pillowcases fit easily. Very strong, heavy canvas with thick stitching, I can't get over how light and easy my load is compared to lugging a laundry basket around. I bought 2 so I'll use for grocery purchases too.
I was pleased to find how well made the product was. But then anything made in the USA is going to be superior!
This bag is great! We're a newspaper publisher and this bag is perfect for taking papers (and other supplies) to events to distribute. It is roomy (to say the least) and strong. Having a couple of snap closures on the bag would be awesome, but that would be icing on the cake. I highly recommend this bag if you have to haul a lot of stuff.
The bag is very well constructed and the material is heavy enough to carry a reasonable weight. Two options that might make the bag better: 1) add a center dividing strip (canvas) This will help keep items from shifting too much. 2) Add a top flap. This will help insulate refrigerated items in hot weather and protect items from other elements (rain). Both options would add to the cost due to additional materials but would be worth the extra to a consumer
Great bags big enough for a man to carry on his shoulders without having the load catch under the arms. I personally hate carrying things in my hands, why?
This bag is well built and looks as though it would hold up to heavy use. It is bigger than I expected (my fault for not being more mindful of the description) and so it won't work for the use I had in mind but I plan to find another way to put it to work.
I'm in a wheelchair, but I can get around in my wheelchair lift-equipped van. Before I got this bag, grocery shopping alone was a real hassle. Now, I just put the strap around my neck and load it up as I'm shopping. All of the cashiers now know not to bother to bag my groceries as I just put them back into my bag. I bought some of that 3" wide day-glo green safety tape and had a local seamstress sew it onto the front of the bag for added visibility when I'm navigating store parking lots at night. The only problem I've had is that my housekeeper washed it in hot water and I lost a little volume due to shrinkage. Great product! Jay Moreno St. Marys, GA
This is a wonderful product. I use them for shopping as I did the white cotton canvas bags. The strap is too large for me because it slips off my shoulder sometimes. The bag does Not fall however. The opening I feel needs a flap as it is too large for me since experience has shown the contents will fall out if it's on a floor and has to be moved quickly. If a flap that would be sewn on and locked by perhaps a large zipper or an expanse of velcro or rope with wood as I've noticed some ladys' purses are made. I was thinking of velcro. If however you know of the best/better way to seal the flap I'm thinking of, I'd like to send one, then the other back for these additions. And to have an length adjuster added if possible.
I'm a field biologist and I use these bags to carry heavy boxes of equipment out to and around my study sites. They get used pretty roughly, but these bags are really strong and hold up well to my abuse. They have a long enough strap to cross over the shoulder opposite that which the bag is held, which makes balancing heavy bags relatively easy. I have washed these a couple times, and they seem to maintain their color and size very well. Sure, you take on the look of a newspaper delivery person, but especially in black, it still looks pretty nice. If you need a really big, strong bag, this is a great choice!
I purchased this bag as a gift for our paper carrier (He was using a shopping bag). He was very happy to receive and loves using his new bag! Bag is well made and quite sturdy!
I discovered these bags a few years ago when a volunteer brought them to one of my plant identification workshops in which we remove non-native plants and install natives in natural areas. They worked so well that I ordered another batch when I took a new job in another county. The bags are perfect for collecting non-native plants (such as Air Potatoes), carrying native plants to the location in which they will get planted (including those in small pots), and great for garbage clean-up workshops as well! We can use them for seed collection, too. The shoulder strap makes carrying a lot of material easy, and the bags can be thrown in to the washer.
I got these for my grandson who delivers a once weekly paper. It is a walking route and he says they are great. Lot easier than carrying several small bags. My husband said the strap is a little short for him but it is fine for my grandson.
This is the pride of my reusable bag fleet :) It carries A LOT of weight! I put my favorite patch: "Do the right thing" on it.
I love these newspaper-style bags. They are a great canvas for machine-embroidery, so I have dressed them up with embroidery on the outside, then I have made linings with multiple pockets, making them perfect for all sorts of tasks. My most-used one has embroidered images of my two dogs and a pocket-filled lining. I use it to tote all their stuff to dog training classes, and I have even popped one of the dogs in as well! I love the wide strap, which is very comfortable on the shoulder. I have ordered more than a dozen of these in white and black, and have made gifts out of some, although I hate to part with any!
I love this item. Well made a good looking. The only thing that I would change would be for this bag to have a longer handle. When it is put over your shoulder, it is sometims hard to get things in and out of it.
This is my second time ordering these bags. Got two this time because they're good for EVERYTHING. Fill it to capacity, you can carry a lot. Or just fill it partially, it's still great. Very strong, comfortable strap. Love it.
I love your canvas reusable bags! I use these bags to distribute fliers. I have a regular crew of 5 people and the bags not only add convenience but they also give y company an sire of professionalism often missed in my industry.
Simple but hard to find newsboy bag, well done. My second. Quite satisfied. I wish the strap was a few inches longer, to better accomadate my height when wearing bag on opposite shoulder.
This is a beautiful, sturdy bag. We used it in a play where my son was a paperboy. Now I take it to the local shops with me. It's comfortable and easy to wear. Love it.
SO FAR SO GOOD! I HAVE A NEWSPAPER ROUTE THAT I WANTED TO START USING MY BICYCLE TO DELIVER THEM ON. I ACTUALLY HAVE AN ELECTRIC BIKE THAT HAS PERFORMED BEYOND MY EXPECTATIONS. (WILDERNESSENERGY.COM MODEL BL-36) ANYWAYS,WHILE I'VE ONLY USED THE BAG ABOUT A HALF A DOZEN TIMES,IT'S DEFINITELY WORTH WHAT I PAID FOR IT. NOT ONLY THAT,BUT I'VE HAD A VERY DIFFICULT TIME FINDING THESE! THIS WAS ONLY PLACE ANYWHERE,NOT JUST ON THE WEB BUT EVEN THE BRICK & MORTAR STORES THAT HAVE THESE BAGS! PLEASED SO FAR,JUST HAVE TO SEE HOW MUCH LIFE IT GIVES ME.
This is the biggest bag ever, and I love it. Great for groceries and anything else you can imagine. I've not carried anything super heavy in it, yet, but it definitely feels like it could carry quite a load. Nice wide strap, very comfortable.
I LOVE THIS BAG! LIVES UP TO EXPECTATIONS! GREAT PRICE! GREAT VALUE!
Indestructible, holds masses of stuff and the wide strap makes it comfortable and easy to carry. Perhaps the ultimate beach bag.
This is a great bag! I don't use it for shopping, but I keep my car organized with it - 2 children under 3 means lots of stuff rattling around in the back. I love that I can take everything in and out of the car in one trip!
I purchased two of these canvas bags, and they are great! They are big enough to not look like a purse (a big plus for me being a guy and all), but not so large that when you fill them up you can't get home with them. If you have bags that are more the traditional grocery bag size, they fit inside of these bags with ease. The canvas they are made from is very strong, I hauled one full of canned goods, and it gave no signs of giving. No longer do I have to worry about my milk bag making it the whole walk home! So now I can carry my largest grocery hauls in two bags, no chance of ripping. The most amazing thing of all, last night I went to find a plastic bag to dispose of some meat cuttings, and there wasn't one in my house! That alone was worth the price of these bags.
This is a great bag, perfect for shopping at the Farmer's Market and for many other shopping needs. The wide strap, which is long enough to go across the chest and the sturdy construction are terrific.
Now that I am getting into the habit of using the bags, they are great. I ordered different sizes and all are working out better than I expected. Have large ones that are excellent when I go to Sam's. I have other sizes that I use for Wal-Mart and the cashier actually had a good time seeing how much he could reasonable get into the bags. I have receive many good comments and asked where I purchased them. Do direct them to your site. The only ones that seem confused when they are given the bags is City Market which is part of Kroger Chain. The bagger always looks perplexed but then this is good for them to notice that older folks are very interested in helping our our planet. Though, am concerned that many young people don't seem to be interested in the planet, recyling; hopefully it just limited to our area and not the whole country.
Absolutely wonderful. I use it every time I go shopping!
WOW! These bags are unreal! I cannot believe how much these bags can hold. They are perfect for all of those big boxes at the store. I wish I had a dime for every compliment I received on these bags, I could have paid them off by now.
So much bigger than i expected. Holds tons of groceries and the wide strap helps distribute the weight so it's not too heavy on the walk home.
Outstanding product. I am ordering more after filling this survey out. Thanks again.
I love this bag! I use it all the time and not only for grocery shopping. I've used it to carry gifts to children's parties (great size for board games), to the beach, shoe shopping, light laundry trips. I cannot imagine living without it. People look at you a little strange when they first see it but when they see what you can comfortably carry while they are struggling with heavy, uncomfortable, incorrectly sized plastic bags they are really interested.
For quite some time, I've been looking for a large, sturdy canvas shopping bag and you had EXACTLY what I needed! I keep them in the car all the time in case I decide to go shopping. It feels great to know that I'm helping the environment and really enjoy the convenience of these heavy-duty bags. They're comfortable to carry and save me numerous trips from the car to the house. You just can't beat these canvas bags and I recommend them to everyone who's tired of plastic cluttering our landscape, harming wildlife and pets, and wants to help the environment. Thanks so much for providing such a fantastic product.
If you can manage the weight when full, these bags are great for grocery trips. Big enough to hold 2 liter bottles on the bottom with more piled up on top.
Hello, The large canvas bags are wonderful. We use them for all of our shopping now and the stores are thrilled when they see us come in with our own bags. The should strap makes it very easy to carry these large bags. And very well made so we should be able to use them for years and years. Thank you for the great service and product, Donna & Rance DeLong Los Gatos, Calif.
This bag hold a LOT of groceries. I bought two, and have only needed to use the second bag once (then again, I'm only buying for one). The shoulder strap is not only comfortable, but it makes it easy to carry many and heavy loads. This bag's shoulder strap also allows one to keep one's hands free to do things like use keys and open car and house doors. Plus, I've already received complements on them from other folks at the grocery store. I've already written a myspace blog on my bags, aimed at my friends to encourage them to buy from reusablebags.com Thank you for making these products available. Sincerely, Mark Specht St. Louis, MO
its great for the heavy stuff. carried a 12pk of soda (cans) and a 12pk of beer (bottles) all in one bag. carried it easy. great green bag.
I think it is a great bag...makes treks to the grocery store much easier. The only thing I think it could use would be a strap or two to close the bag...snap on one side. Bag has a tendency to flop open....
this bag is great! heavy duty and built to carry even the heaviest groceries/items. my walk home from the local store just got a lot easier. no need to worry about breaking--this thing is sturdy, well-constructed and can hold a lot. my favorite part? it feels like a messenger bag and not a purse, good for the guys out there. GO GREEN EVERYBODY!!!
I've just advised a friend who's looking for a Big, Strong, Rugged bag to haul Lots of outdoor type kit around in that I own just such a bag. Then I thought how I could Never part with my bag, which I've had and used and abused for Three Years now! I load so much stuff into my bag that lugging the weight nearly drags me over. But that bag has never so much as had a stich come away! No wear. No tears. It's proven indestructable. That bag is still as good as the day it arrived. You will Not be dissapointed with this excellent product.
I ordered 3 Cotton Canvas Messenger Shoppng Bags and absolutely LOVE them. They are large enough to accomodate everything I carry from Market, veggies, soymilk etc. Perfect!
These bags were perfect for our use. Strong and large and very well made. We used them as newspaper bags for children newsies in our musical production this Christmas. We painted "The Post" on them with acrylic paint and it worked very well. I would buy them again.
This is the second order we have made for the "Super Strong Cotton Canvas Messenger Shopping Bag" and we can't be more pleased. We used the bags everyday carrying survey stakes and supplies in the field in every weather condition and they hold up just as you would expect them to. Great product for a great price. Thanx guys, Meridian Associates, Inc., Virginia Beach, VA
I used the paper deliver bag to carry my two dogs around in ( two small poddles)I remember the bags from 60 years ago when I delivered the newspaper as a kid. They are very strong. Thanks!
I love this bag! Buuuuttttt I would love it more if it was 2"x2"x2" larger. The strap is great to use over the shoulder, unlike the much too short strap we find on every tote bag that I've seen.(Note to all Tote bag makers: If you're going to make a bag with a shoulder strap make the strap long enough to fit comfortably on one's shoulder.
This bag is great! It was a great price and works well. I have a paper route and the newspaper was going to charge me $50 for a similar bag. I said, "No thanks!" So far it has held up great and it is comfortable to carry. I would definitely recommend it.
My son had been struggling with makeshift bags we had found locally and they were falling apart and had to be replaced several times-you bags came quickly and have been the saving grace for the paper route! He uses one and I use the other! Thank you for a wonderful product and excellent service! I have reccomended you to the supervisor in case anyone else is struggling! Thank you!
This is a really well-made and useful bag. It's an excellent value. The one improvement that I would suggest would be to add a large flap that could cover the bag. I used to deliver newspapers with a friend many years ago and we had flaps on our bags to protect the papers from rain and snow.
At first I didn't know what I'd do with this enormous bag. But I have been using it a lot. It can carry a lot of stuff - picnics, school projects etc. I like the wide handle that disperses the weight of the load. The service here is extremely fast. On of the fasted mail order places I've used.
I hate taking numerous trips to bring the groceries in. I bought three bags and they were sturdy enough and large enough to bring the whole lot in in one go. :)
This is my go to bag. Quick trip to the farmer's market, carrying water for the dog or as a diaper bag.
We got this bag for our daughter who began using it immediately. It suited her perfectly for college.
We are very pleased our recent purchase of 12 black cotton canvas messenger bags. We ordered 12 of the natural messenger bags on February of this year, and had a need for more, so we decided to get the black this time. They are exactly what we were looking for, and have not disappointed in quality and durability. We use them for distibution of handouts (flyers, magnets, brochures, etc.) for clients at events in our city. PS - We have even had people comment on them saying they remind them of the old time newspaper carrier bags.
The bag actually can carry quite a lot. You can fit a 12 pack cereal, and milk all together in the bag. You're obviously not going to get a whole week in one bag, but you can probably get 2-3 days pretty easy in this bag.
I live goto Eastern Market in Detroit - the oldest fresh produce market in the country -- I love going but always hated carrying all the bags -- I had been looking for a good canvas bag to use but everytime I found one, I thought I am not paying 30-40 bucks for a bag. This bag holds a lot of stuff, for easy to carry since strap is long enough to go over your shoulder -- as a bonus when I get home and empty the be bag -- I put back any plastic bags that I got from the vendor right back into the bag -- that I way I don't have to remember to bring my own. I strongly recommend this bag!
This bag is huge! Very sturdy and comfy to carry. It holds everything. I load it up when I get home to carry my stuff inside. I'm taking it with me to the farmers market next week to help carry my things as I collect them!
Great size, great quality! I'm a big fan of the bags.
Sorry it has taken so long to respond. I love my messenger bags. I ordered 3. I black and two natural. I use them at the grocery store and they fit a lot of groceries in them if packed right. The baggers at the store have a little trouble, I guess because of the unfamiliarity. Just remember to put them back in your car after you unload groceries from them. I have forgot a couple of times and had to use paper bags. Thank you for your products. Very durable and large bags. Thank you very much!!!!
One of the "newsboy bags" was ordered some time ago for my elderly father. He wanted it to assist him in transporting the daily mail and newspaper from the road to the house. When my husband seen what we were sending my dad, my husband immediately saw uses for the same bag at his warehousing job. Knowing that the bag would quickly become dirty at work, I ordered 2 bags for my husband. That way he would have "one to wash and one to wear," so to speak. This is one sturdy bag and holds quite a bit. However, my husband said that the strap could be a bit longer and the bag a little deeper. If those changes were made, he would be "done working quicker." However, a deeper bag would mean a heavier load. He agreed that it's a sturdy bag and does hold quite a bit. Thanks for offering such a great and useful bag at ReusableBags.com.
The messanger bags are used in our toy boutique while an employee is shopping and they are working out very well.
The messenger bag is for our Toy Boutique while employees are shopping, and the bags are working out great.
The bags are great. I live in a condo and use them to carry laundry supplies, and newspapers/recycleable plastic, etc. to the laundry room.
This product is great for shopping when you need to keep your hands free. I have a baby and often walk to the store with the stroller. I am able to get almost everything in the stroller and this bag, and I am still able to steer the stroller home!
the bags are everything that I thought they would be I use them to get food and other things up to my apartmento they work great thanks and keep up the good work
THIS BAG IS FOR GOING FROM THE CAR INTO THE HOUSE ONLY. I WON'T BE TAKING IT IN THE STORE. I HAVE USED IT ONCE, THINGS FIT NICELY. VERY HAPPY WITH MY ENTIRE ORDER! I WILL BE BACK, THE ONLY BUMMER WAS THAT AFTER I ORDERED, SOME OF THE ITEMS WENT ON SALE. KEEP UP THE GREAT JOB THAT YOU DO!
Love the bags They are exactly what i was looking for! you have a great site and company thanks! Michael
These bags are great! My wife and I use them for everything. It is nice to walk out of the grocery store without fifteen plastic bags and knowing we are doing something constructive to help the environment.
The bags are great. They are everything you said they would be and hold a surprising amount of groceries. Even gallon size milk jugs are easy to carry in them. It's nice to have everything in 1 bag instead of 15 little plastic bags. Thank you.
I love my bags!! These were a great investment and I like to take them along wherever I go.
Love my bags and use them weekly. I can carry so much in one bag and not have my arms/back hurt like they do with plastic bags.
I love the bag! It holds tons of stuff, it's durable and easy to carry when full. However, I was suprised when I opened the box and it was full of packing paper. Seemed a little wastefull to use all that paper to protect a canvas bag.
The Cotton Canvas Messenger Bag is GREAT. Super strong...just as advertised, attractive, durable, and very comfortable to carry. Great product and a great value!!
This bag was just what I was looking for and could not find anywhere else. I work at a college and will have students use it when making deliveries around campus and when posting flyers. Great value...prompt delivery. Thanks!
I bought both the organic cotton version and this version of the bag. Although the length of the strap on this bag is 6" shorter, it's still great. The strap is 3" wide, which makes carrying it on your shoulder super comfortable. Since it's not made out of organic cotton, it's a little cheaper, but from what I can tell, there are no other differences between the two versions in terms of quality. Both are well constructed and sturdy. I think I've found what I'll be giving away for Christmas gifts!
This bag was exactly what I wanted. High quality, durable construction, and the appearance of an old-fashioned newsboy's bag. Delivery was fast.
The canvas messenger shopping bags I bought are excellent for a "house hubby" who buys the weekly groceries. I especially like the wide straps. It might be nice to have pockets on one side for coupons, etc. thanks again, bill oldsmar, fla
excellent bags so far. much better than the ones I was given
LOVE THEM! GREAT FRO THE GROCERY STORE TOO! THANKS SO MUCH!
Great bag! It is thin yet sturdy and can carry 50+ newspapers easily. I lost one and reordered the identical bag because I missed it so much and nothing else seemed to fit the bill. Great for groceries, yard sales and other bulky awkward items that my need to be carried.
Awesome, no frills bag. We picked up a bunch for a promotion and they worked out great. It would have been nice if the cotton messenger bag had an adjustable strap - but the price is right. I'm picking one up for myself.
The product could be improved by making the shoulder strap about six (6) inches longer. I use this item everyday to make deliveries. I am a tall and husky man, and a longer shoulder strap would greatly improve the comfort and ease of access into the pouch to remove items. I actually ordered two bags, one black and one white. The black bag shoulder strap was cut to a comfortable length, while the white bag shoulder strap was shorter (sorry I did not measure) and not as comfortable & accessible when carrying the same amount of items in each bag. Please make the shoulder strap longer to really improve this product.
With a distinguished 5 year term as a Chicago Tribune paperboy under my belt, I know a thing or two about canvas messenger bags. While this one lacks the canvas flap to keep light rain off all the news that is fit to print, it is more than adequate to carry large loads while keeping your hands free to use keys, open doors, retrieve bus passes, etc.
The strap on the bag is wide enough to prevent heavy loads from cutting into your shoulder and has sufficient capacity to hold 3 traditional sized plastic bags worth of groceries. I use the ReuseIt Workhorse bags at the self-checkout and then load them into the messenger bag to bring it all back home by bike.
This is a nice big bag. I haven't used it much yet, but i got it to help me carry bigger bulky things when I am throwing a shower at church or something like that. It's nice to have a big bag with a long strap to "wear". I agree with other reviews, some sort of top flap or even a snap strap to help the bag maintain some of its structural integrity when full would make it even better in my book, but that's a modification I can easily make myself.
I've been searching for a carrier bag like this for some time now and you people at reuseit are the only one that provided this particular product. I do parcel deliveries for a living and this bag is perfect for carrying small packages. It seems durable enough but I think it could be made better by using a heavier weight canvas- all in all a good product that I would recommend to friends..
I have used a variety of bags and baskets and, to various degrees, have appreciated their(choose one) lightness, compactness, cleverness, engineering, or aesthetic. This bag can be appreciated for what it can lug.....period....and that's not a bad thing. If you tire of carrying multiple bags loaded with a bit too much stuff and find the loops biting into your palms, give this a try. Thrown over a shoulder, both hands are free to fondle the fruit and veggies, tear off plastic baggies, whatever..and the wide sling spreads out the weight pretty well. Finally, when you get home, the bag works well in reverse....letting you walk about the kitchen with both hands free while you load your goodies from the bag to the pantry/refer/freezer. I got mine in a workmanlike black and it appears ruggedly stitched together.....perhaps the stitching's a bit crudely executed but not so as to impair the durability........just rendering a slightly homemade look.
I haven't gotten a chance to put my bag to use yet, because I bought it to collect the harvest from my large home garden. The bag has plenty of room, and it is very well made. I don't think I could rip it out if I tried. My only complaint with it is that the strap is a bit too short for me at 6 foot. The opening of the bag catches me just a bit under the armpit,so I think a longer strap or better yet,an adjustable one would work better for my purpose. I think I may ask a seemstres I know, if she will make it longer for me. Other than that one thing, I am satisfied with the bag.
My two black messenger/newspaper bags are good for carrying bulky, lightweight things like a load of clothes for the laundromat, for a walk of about four blocks/ten or twelve minute walk. Not so good for heavy items like a grocery shopping trip of oranges and carrots wieghing perhaps twenty pounds. The laundry weighed less, about 12 pounds, I would guess. The heavy groceries caused my back to start hurting on the way home from the grocery store. So I reserve my two black newspaper/messenger bags for laundry trips, and am happy because up til now, I had no convenient way to carry my laundry in winter. (In summer I use my bicycle; but in winter, having no car, I must walk to the laundromat.) Thank you reuseablebags.com for a great product! P.s. I keep things from falling out of the messenger/newspaper bags by tying the load up within secured bags. For the groceries, I used several smaller bags, each tied close at the top, to keep groceries from falling out. For the laundry trips, I first put all my laundry on top of an old sheet, then tie up the sheet securely. ONly then do I put the laundry (inside the tied-up sheet) into the open-top messenger/newspaper bag. Note in winter with extra big laundry loads, I will use both my messenger/newspaper bags, on on the left, and one on the right, to balance each other as I walk.
The two black newspaper bags ("messenger bags") I bought are handy for carrying my laundry to the laundromat several blocks from my residence. In one of the bags I carried about 12-15 pounds of clothing (wrapped in a sheet which was tied together at the top so nothing fell out). I packed the clothing in quite tight, and the bag was very full, to its absolute limit, yet was relatively easy to carry for the ten or twelve minute walk to the laundry, then back home again afterward On the other hand, for carrying a heavy 20-25 pound load of groceries like carrots and oranges, the bag was not so good. The load was too heavy and so my back started hurting. My conclusion: for lightweight bulky items like clothing, the newspaper/messenger bag is great. But for heavy, compact loads, I still prefer my old over-the-shoulder tote bags (from Deer Creek Sewing at cottontotebags.com).
Ok, maybe not the *entire* house, but this is a big freakin' bag! It fits messenger style, and I can put tons of stuff in it. I have used it to take back returnable bottles to the grocery store, and I was able to fit a lot of glass bottles in this bag. The black with white stitching is very nice. I agree with other reviewers that some sort of closure or strap across the middle of the bag would be very helpful. I'll probably attempt a DIY fix for that, but that's my one and only complaint about the bag.
It's big and strong. And it's made me a checkout employee friend at my grocery store. She appreciates my produce-heavy purchases and my self-bagging ways. Using fewer plastic bags is bloody cool. Although, after a washing, it seems to lose its stiffness and shrink a bit.
I gave two of these bags to my mother for Mother's Day. She loves them. She currently uses these bags to transport her veggies back from the co-op as the veggies are lightweight and just take up a lot of space. Another use is to collect empty refillable one gallon water bottles that will later be taken to the store to refill. As for the construction of the tote, I hope that the company producing these will address the construction as the threads seem to be ending way off of the bag leaving long strings that, if cut-off at the edge of the bag would cause the stitching to unravel. For now, we left the strings as-is but wish for asthetics that the strings would end with the end of the bag.
We were looking for an alternative to wooden boxes for wildlife biologists to carry small mammal trap while in the field and purchased 16 of these bags. The bags fit 15 Sherman traps perfectly and allow for easy carrying in the field. These bags appear to be rugged and hold up well to use, and we hope to use them over the course of several years. However, because we have only been using them a short time, it remains to be seen how well they will hold up for the long term and if the sharp corners of the traps will cause excess wear on the bags. The only drawback to these bags is the straps - they could be a bit longer or be adjustable.
This bag is almost perfect. I do have a couple of nits to pick. Although it was probably not intended for the purpose, I use the bag when I go to the supermarket. So, it's too bad the strap doesn't completely wrap around the bottom of the bag for a bit of reinforcement. I bought a lot of canned items recently and the lack of 'structure' made it slightly difficult to pack, though the bag was strong enough to cope with the load. I could probably address this with a little bit of cardboard. I also wish the strap was a little longer, every inch matters, but it looks sturdy enough. White stitching on black canvas looks sharp, but the way the stitches were finished was definitely second-rate. I don't know how to sew, but I think I could do better. 4 stars out of 5, I say.
Great bag, but not what I was looking for (something with two straps). I'm trying to return it.
I bought this messenger shopping bag for big trips to Costco. I do like it for that because you can put just about the whole world in there. It doesn't have a zipper or anything like that but things don't fall out becasue the bag is so deep. The only thing I don't like about the bag is that it doesn't have a flat or sturdy bottom. If they come out wtih another bag that's the same only a flat sturdy bottom I'm the first in line to buy one. ;)
The canvas messenger bag is a very nice size but a little big for me. It does hold a lot of items and I just need to find the most convienent way to use it for myself. All and all a very good value and worth buying.
This bag is a lot bigger than I expected. I had to figure out how to best wear it with lots of groceries. Overall, pretty durable and definitely spacious
This is a strong, large bag. The wide shoulder strap helps distribute weight pretty well. I was able to put a 25lb bag of kitty litter and two other large bags of groceries (including one with canned items) in it, allowing my hands to be free to carry other things. Strong it is, however, if you are expecting a really nice looking bag, this may not be for you. It is made using a serger and not all the seams are finished.
Product is EXCELLENT! It exceeded our expectations. The only concern I had about using your services was that I could never get a LIVE person answering the phone. I had questions and I tried numerous days at different times and never received an answer. Thanks again for your quality products and prompt service!
I use this bag to carry large numbers of newspapers each day and actually use it as a carrier satchel. It's smaller than the real paper counterparts of yore but the double stitching helps and is making it last much longer than those I've used in the past and it works well, and fits well over the shoulder and for long walking routes.
I purchased the Super Strong Cotton Canvas Messenger Shopping Bag in part because I remembered, years ago, seeing the paperboys using them. I've used it several times and find it handy for limited grocery shopping. It's construction is excellent but being of canvas, while it stores easily, its flexable unstructured shape can be bothersome when purchasing too many items or some types of items. The bag would be even better if it was as deep or slightly deeper than an average paper grocery bag.
So far they seem good and strong -- that's what's important to me. But for such a price, I expected them to (1) not have so many loose threads that needed trimming after I tossed them in the wash before their first use; and (2) that one side or the other would clearly look like the outside. I can't figure out if I have it inside-out or not as both sides look inside out.
The bag arrived super quick and was just as described... took me back to my days as a newspaper carrier! It's very large and sturdy and will work well for my needs. I'd seen another review that mentioned sloppy stitching -- my bag wasn't stitched perfectly either but also wasn't as bad as the other reviewer's bag seemed to have been; perhaps it's a little hit or miss as to the quality of the stitching on each individual bag. All in all, a good value.
Received this as a Christmas gift from my son; it's very useful in the part of my paper route that I walk. But I think the strap could be a couple of inches longer. With a bag full of papers it's hard to pull over my head. I'll probably have to sling it from my shoulder. Overall very useful.
I purchased this bag for my nephew who is a paperboy. i called him and asked if the bag met his needs, that being large enough and strong enough. he said that it did.
This is a great product, however the stitching is quite sloppy. It seems to be solidly made and will probably hold up, it just looks sloppy.
It's a wonderful bag! My only complaint is the strap: I'm short, so I wish it was a little shorter. Otherwise--fantastic!
I wish it were a little deeper, but then it might not be as back friendly. Overall it was a very good investment. Don't expect to use it on your bike, though!
This bag is ideal for large amounts of groceries, heavy items such as juices and cans work well. The strap is very strong and I never worry about it breaking. There is one idea I had about improving the bag. Since the bag is a long bag, and when it is full of goods it seems to sink in the middle a bit, which causes the top of the sides to bow outwards. If there was some type of string ties at the top middle, it would keep the bag closed and less exposed to inclimate weather as well as securing the load better. Other than that, the bag is super, and unbelievably tough. Thanks,
Well designed, cavernous bag that is comfortable to wear even when very full. Similar to the newspaper delivery bags I used as a child for my paper route but a longer shoulder strap would be appreciated now that I'm an adult.
It's a well-constructed bag. Good for the price. We use it to deliver newspapers... it would be nice if the straps were padded and if there was a reflector somewhere on the bag (as a safety measure for our carriers who deliver papers in the evening).
I'm very happy to have reusable bags! The store clerks think they're neat. They are a little wide and short-sided for me, but I'll get used to the shape. Thanks very much, KC
The large canvas bag is sturdy but would be better if divided into three compartments, thus eliminating rolling around and also to keep the sides up while loading groceries.
The totes are very heavy and constructed well. You can pack them full of items, even heavy items, and they work great. Definitely worth the money. The only drawback is that they seem to be sewn together in an odd manner which is only an appearance issue and has no effect on function.
Product quality is very good. Strong and well suited to its' intention (walking shopping bag). The only thing I really didn't like was when I order online it is easier for me to have the charge come out right away instead of waiting for product to be sent. This gives me more control, especially with a online company I trust. Thanks
Nice product, great price, quick shipping. I would only recommend a longer strap, or at least the option for one.
I wanted to love these bags. But the other reviewers are right about the stitching. I've only done the bare minimum of sewing projects, but I could have sewn this thing with better stitching. Every time I use it, I end up holding a handful of loose thread that just keeps coming out. I'm wondering when it's going to effect the bag's integrity. They ARE big, and they ARE sturdy, at least so far as the stitching holds together...which it has for the past two weeks of heavy use (I even used it to move). Even with the stitching problem, I have not found an alternative that is as large, and has such a large strap that can go diagonally over my chest. That was the main reason I got these, because I have problems with my arms, and can't hold on to those grocery totes with the little bitty straps. The large strap across my chest stabilizes it and allows me to carry heavy loads. I just hope it doesn't unravel too much more! I'm going to have to do some emergency maintenance sewing of my own on it.
The idea is great but feel some improvement with the straps might make it more user friendly especially for women. Two straps, one on either side would keep the bag from buckling in the middle. Love the "NO THANK YOU" to plastic or paper
The bag is nice but the canvas should be of a heavier grade. Or you should offer a choice of a heavier grade canvas bag in addition to this one.
These bags are great for carrying really heavy or bulky items. I originally bought them for grocery shopping. For this, they are maybe too long and not deep enough. Very durable though and the black colored bags will stay stay looking new for a long time.
The bag doesn't look as nice as I thought it would. The stitching looks like it is loose in some areas and there is extra thread hanging off the bag. It looks like it will work well for groceries but I wish the quality was better.
This bag is a bit difficult to use. It works really well if you are buying a bunch of canned goods. It is just shallow enough that it cannot be filled much.
I bought this bag for groceries. It's pretty well made but does not stand up to bag stuff so frustrating to the baggers. Would be ok as a gym bag or for toting stuff to the beach.
the bag is too long for me, i probably won't use it.
I found that this product was made out of great material, but it seemed to be an odd shape and when carried it smushed all of my groceries together. I love this site, but i think this one product will be returned for another style of bag.
I was pleased that the bag was larger in area than my others BUT the one thing that would certainly help would be if they were a bit taller. My other bags do not have as large a bottom area but are at least 8"-10" taller which helps stabilize my products so they can be stacked as needed and I cannot do that with any stability with this particular bag. It is your largest but I cannot fit as much into it because it is height challenged.
I would not buy the canvas messenger bag again although I like the size of it. Although it is not what I'd call inexpensive, it is poorly constructed and obviously put together as fast as possible. The stiches are wide and many were unfinished. I had to spend a considerable amount of time snipping loose threads and sewing the unfinished stitches with the hope this bit of mending will keep the bag together longer.
I purchased several bags to try them out and find the right reusable grocery bag for me. Of the few that I purchased, this bag seemed completely impractical as it is much to big. The space is great except that once it's full I couldn't carry the load.
