Design and Functionality
Klean Kanteen is a reusable, risk-free stainless steel container that does not leach toxins into its contents. Reusable, lightweight & durable. The wide-mouth accommodates ice cubes and makes cleaning easy. Loop caps on sports caps and screw on loop tops can be attached to bags with a carabiner and is easy to carry with one finger.
Klean Kanteen recently altered the design of their sport cap to allow for better air ventilation and easier drinking. Air is allowed into the bottle via an air vent, which is plugged with a small silicone plug. The plug helps to keep the water in, but it is not leak proof.
Materials
Made from electropolished, non-leaching, high grade 304 L.N. (18/8) stainless steel. Klean Kanteen’s 304 L.N. stainless steel is grade blended specifically for food preparation, dairy, brewing, various medical uses and other applications where mineral migration is unacceptable. The steel is put through a electropolishing process which seals the surface and prevents minerals from migrating into the contents. These reusable, risk-free stainless steel containers do not impart taste and do not leach toxins into their contents. Plastics (polycarbonate) have been shown to leach carcinogens including BPA during regular use, exposure to heat and especially after cleaning. .

Care Instructions
- Klean Kanteens are easy to clean with a bottle brush and mild soap. We recommend an old fashioned cleaner: white vinegar and baking soda.
- Stainless steel does not rust. If your bottle appears to have rusted, it is a harmless residue left behind from the electro-polishing process. Electro charges remove fine particles from the stainless steel surface, remove impurities and seal it. Electrolytes left behind sometimes turn a rust color, but it's harmless.
- Do not freeze bottle. The force of liquids expanding as they freeze can cause your Klean Kanteen to become deformed and can also break the weld that holds the bottle together. Freezing any Klean Kanteen will void the one-year warranty against manufacturer defects.
- If your sport caps occasionally make a chirping or squeaking noise when they may be screwed on too tight. To alleviate this problem, try slightly loosening your cap before you drink.

It is the right size for drinks in a snack bag for school. It is easy to clean with a bottle brush. It requires a neoprene cover to keep drinks cold (not double walled or insulated on its own). It can leak through the mouthpiece if tipped over. The paint can chip off the metal. i bought these for my three kids. these are great everyday water bottles, durable, easy to clean and fill. the spout is easy for my kids to open and close. the only drawback is that they sweat as they aren't insulated or double walled. the stainless steel is thick enough to withstand a 5, 4, and 2 year-old. the color options are fun. this is a great purchase. My biggest deal here was that it didn't leak in lunch boxes. The only time I had a leak was when my daughter left the sport cap open...and that was totally her fault. We use the sport caps because the girls are only 5.. it can be quite a mess otherwise. They sit on their sides in their lunch boxes - no problem. they go to the park, in the car and with ice in them keep cold all day long. I have finally found something they can take without worry! I recently purchased these bottles to put in my kids' lunches. I don't actually use them for that because they're too heavy; and, b/c they're stainless steel, they get really wet on the outside. Instead, we use them as our travel bottles - I keep them filled with water when we're driving in the car, and they made a huge difference in keeping the kids hydrated on a long plane flight. I love Klean Kanteen. We have had five of their larger bottles for about two years. I imagine we have saved a lot of plastic bottles from ending up in the landfill during that time. I bought one for each member of my family and put their name on it. I love that you can put them in the dishwasher and the mouth is wide enough that it really gets clean. One sport cap is very hard to open (I have to do it, the 3 year old can't) and the other is too easy. Love these - just bought one each for the kids and one for mama! :) Really like the new colors, too. We already have a couple, wanted extras (one to use, one to wash). Perfect size for little hands: the indentation at the neck makes it the right width for small people. And the straightforward spout design makes it easy to clean without inviting mold or soap residue. The bottles do get cold without some kind of a sleeve. Sometimes I'll use them with this in mind - load them up with ice cubes to use them as cold packs inside a lunch bag. We do have some Built NY sleeves for use with the bottles, but cozies for beer bottles work equally well. :) Am also happy that these can alternate as sippy cups with a simple change of spout. This is our second year using this bottle. I was so happy to find this 12oz size because a 16oz bottle is too large to fit in my son's lunchbox. The smaller size also means there's no waste since he typically can't finish more than 12oz during his lunch period. Emphasis on the "Kanteen" - This is a compact bottle, perfect for quick trips and little sips. However, I'm not too fond of unscrewing and screwing the cap to drink. It's a hassle when you're driving, and threading the top takes a lot of time if you want it to close securely. Sport tops are available, but at an extra cost. Love Love Love these bottles. Three months after "making the switch" and refusing to buy any more plastic bottles, our family has adjusted and we really like these. They are smooth to hold and easy to clean. We each have our own color of 18 oz and I have 12 oz for lunchboxes. You can add ice and they stay cold. My teen daughter, who is notoriously hard to please, is not quite sold on these. She claims they taste metallic. I admit there is the FAINTEST hint of a metallic taste, but the rest of us have found it completely remedied by purchasing the fabulous new sport lid, which means your mouth does not touch the metal of the bottles. We have many kinds of reusable bottles in our house so you can probably believe us when we say these are our favorites. I pack these in my 5-year-old son's Munchler lunchbox each day and they do everything they're supposed to and more. The wide mouth fills easily, cleans well and is easy for my son to drink from. He also has never had a tough time getting the cap back on securely so leftover drinks do not spill into his backpack and cubby (been there , done that with other kinds). They size is right for a full serving of calcium or an all-day drink of water but not huge. The size of the bottle also leaves enough room for food without weighing down a kids bag. The standard of 'green' and expensive has got to stop somewhere and this is a fantastic start. No designer price, a cute but not cutesy design that is best for boys who have outgrown balloon and teddy bear prints. Nice job Klean Kanteen and nice job ReusableBags! By Jean F

Wonderful bottle. It's kid sized but I'm an adult and I use it all the time because it fits nicely in my purse and work bag for on-the-go hydrating. You don't need anything bigger because you'll have cups at home, work, people's houses, etc. If you're going for a bike ride or hike or something then you'll be taking a much bigger bottle anyway. I am generally pleased with the 12 oz. colorful stainless steel reusable bottle, Klean Kanteen. I bought this one because of previous customer reviews pertaining to the larger neck that would hold ice cubes, and because it is small enough to fit in my big ol' purse/bag. It has a bit of a metallic taste to get used to--that is no longer objectionable to me, but after a few days my husband couldn't take it and asked to go back to the plastic bottles--also, since he often "drinks while driving" (water only!), he didn't care for the wide neck as it is harder to control without spilling it down your chin or neck. I gave one to my sister for Christmas--I'll be anxious to hear what she has to say. Many of the competing brands have a springy clip on them, and I would have appreciated this if it didn't add to the price too much. Also, I was glad to find some of the discontinued colors on sale, and later wished I had ordered a few more--though I am anxious to see how the color holds up after repeated washings. I was about to order a sport cap, but was thankful for the honest feedback reviews and decided to wait until they are better perfected. Love the metal, so much better than plastic (even if doesn't contain BPA)everything tastes better out of these bottles and are much more sanitary because they come clean, the plastic stuff never seemed clean to me. Love these sippy cups! They don't leak, they are easy for my 12 month old to drink from and are fairly easy for his little hands to hold on to. If I do put liquid in that is too cold though, the outside of the bottle gets too cold for him to hold. This is the PERFECT size to bring to work for lunch. I like to bring iced tea to work with me, and this easily fits in my lunch bag. It's an ideal alternative to plastic beverage bottles, and makes economic sense since I can buy large sizes of drinks and carry just what I need each day. I bought two of the Kleen Kanteen stainless steel containers to send with my kids to school each day instead of the plastic water bottles. They were very attractive and the kids loved them, but I am disappointed by how quickly the painted coating on the outside has begun to scratch off and peel. My son's container (black) has quite a bit of the color scratched off after only 2 weeks of use. My duaghter's is in better shape (hers is orange). By Juliet G

Great water bottles. I have all of the sizes: 40oz, 27oz, 18oz, and 12oz - each size has its own purpose. Easy to clean. The seal is wonderful as I have not had any spills when I carry them in my bag at any angle. Water tastes like it should - no plastic or metal taste and I know it is safe with no leaching either. Love the colors too - now everyone in the house can have a different color and not get confused on which bottle is which person's. A little expensive, but it makes you more appreciative and reduces lots of waste since I hope these bottles will be around in use for a long time to come. By Lesley G

The size and grip of this bottle is exactly right. I enjoy using it as an alternative to the bigger containers that I also have. It's sleek and nice to look at, and keeps water cold for a while. The only issue is that I find it challenging to screw the lid in. I always get it wrong on the first try or two, and that is a real annoyance when I'm walking or in yoga class. This bottle is great! It is small and light enough to fit in a purse when you are on the go. The water stays pretty cool and tastes great. Oh yes, after reading the other reviews I must concur that the orange is not the orange as depicted in the website. Luckily it looks like the burnt orange of the UT Longhorns, so it looks like we picked it intentionally. In terms of colors I wish more options were availabe, though I am glad for having some colors finally! The pink looked too pepto-bismal-ly so I got orange for my daughter. I purchased this bottle for my daughter's lunch box as we had problems with the plastic bottles leaking and we had health concerns with the plastic ones. This bottle fits perfectly in the lunch box and doesn't leak. It keeps the drinks cooler as well. It does sustain some dings/dents over time but they don't affect the bottle in any way other than adding some character to its appearance. It is easy to clean too. By Robin M
