Design and Functionality
Laptop Lunch bento boxes were modeled after traditional bento boxes, containers used in Japanese culture to pack single-portion takeout meals. Updating this classic design, the Laptop Lunch integrates a large snap-shut tray, five colorful, modular containers. The containers vary in size and three come with lids, enabling parents to pack dry and wet foods securely. The un-lidded containers are designed to accommodate dry foods such as vegetable sticks, crackers, cereal, sliced apple, etc. The lidded containers are perfect for wet foods, such as dips, yogurt, cottage cheese, and dressings. All of the food containers fit into a larger snap-shut tray, which fits into many of our large lunch bags.

The choice to include only three lids was intentional – surveys indicated that usually one wet food was packed in kid's lunches, and the search for mismatched lids was the number one frustration for parents that packed lunches in reusable containers.

Made of FDA-approved plastics that will not leach harmful chemicals into food. No binding agents, plasticizers, or other materials suspected to contain carcinogens or endocrine disrupters are used in the Laptop Lunch Bento Kit. Sturdy, rigid containers help prevent "squishing," keeping foods secure during the occasional bumps and bruises on trips to school.

Materials
Made with 10% recycled plastics (polypropylene #5 and polyethylene #2)

Sustainability
Billions of single-use bags, baggies and food containers are consumed each year. When used in place of disposable single-serving containers and throwaway packaging, each Laptop Lunch kit has the potential to eliminate 1000s of disposables over its lifetime, preserving natural resources, protecting the environment and saving you money in the process.

Additionally, home made lunches are not only more nutritious than prepackaged lunches, but they tend to cost less as well. Estimates suggest that families can save about $250 per person each year this way

About Laptop Lunches
The Laptop Lunch Kit was developed by two mothers (Tammy Pelstring and Amy Hemmert) with a mission of helping families improve lunchtime nutrition and reduce waste. And since they believe that healthy kids come from healthy communities, they donate a portion of profits to schools and environmental organizations.

The Laptop Lunches bento box is Made in the USA at a California manufacturing site that adheres to strict health, safety and environmental standards. This was a conscious decision by the product's developers, who wanted to ensure that the food containers were made safely and to the highest standards possible.

I like the different shapes and colors. They are strong and durable.

If it had a handle it would be perfect.

3.0 Good for adults or older children

Comments about Product:

I bought this for my 3 year old for her preschool snacks. She can not open the kit itself and has a lot of difficulty opening the smaller containers inside. On a positive note the construction of the product is good quality. Honestly though, i would return it if it hadn't already been opened and washed and tried out. I guess I'll save it for when she's older...

4.0 Happy with Purchase

Comments about Product:

We do like the Bento Box system and have been using it for several weeks now. It is versatile and the containers are a nice size. I do believe I may order the extra containers with the large open compartment for more variability as my children grow and their portion sizes get larger. That being said, I hope all of the pieces maintain their durability over time because they are not inexpensive!

5.0 Quality product

Comments about Product:

I have used it for 4 days only.

My kids love it. It is fun for them open up container lidand see what is inside.

For me it easy to clean up - dishwasher or just rinse it.

I did not get the right food yet to fill in the containers. the Safeway laucheables, cheese sticks, Gogurt fit there too, making me sad that the individual packaging litters the earth :-) I'll look for some other types of food.

I would recommend to put some different design on upper cover of the box. I have two Launch Bento Boxes - blue and purple. Some time in the morning rush I'm puzzeled - is this my son' or daughter's box? different design would help me to separate them. Well, for now i put different stickers and that works all right. I wonder how many dish wash bath they would hold.

4.0 Bento Box

Comments about Product:

I really like my bento box. The only thing I would change about it if I could would be a way to keep it cool. I also bought the insulated lunch bag, but it would be great if there was a place in the bento box to hold an ice pack.

5.0 K,1,2 - still going strong !

Comments about Product:

I ordered this for my daughter when she entered Kindergarten. She’s used it every school day since, and 2nd grade is nearly over. Great quality, and the real advantage is that I can see what she has eaten. We have the original version, which fits perfectly into an LL Bean lunchbox, Check if new size is the same. There is plenty of room for a cloth napkin and a cold pack. She has not had any trouble opening it. She carries her Kleen Kanteen in her Built NY sleeve. Nearly 3 years of school lunches... no trash yet!

5.0 Excellent for busy, healthy Adults too!

Comments about Product:

I bought the Bento Box 2.0 after much consideration for a new lunch box system. I wanted to be more proactive about planning and bringing lunch to work (a small office) to save money (we go out a lot) and also to be a bit more health conscious. In addition, I have collected a lot of tupperware already, but so much of it is bulky and is too big for proper serving sizes / tosses everything together in transit I have used my bento box 4 times sicne receiving it last week and each time I am delighted. I know it's designed for kids but honestly, the options with the lidded and open containers (and the cutest dip container EVER!) makes me think "hmm what fruit or veggie could I add to this meal" that I wouldn't if I was putting it all in one big tupperware. I pack lunch with some leftovers from my main-dish from dinner, and then have fun filling the other containers with foods I like that I can buy in bulk (and save even more money) but also that go together. (cut-up fruit, veggies and dip, trail mix, nuts, some chocolates, soup!, jelly or jam to go with crackers and cheese....) Everything stays right where you want it too, and so far no leakage issues. I can't wait for lunch today!

4.0 Good Product

Comments about Product:

I like these bento style lunch boxes. I ordered 2 of them so I could set aside my 9 month old's meals (homemade baby food in frozen cubes) for the baby sitter. The different small containers work well for pureed baby food, finger foods and nutritional add ins. The containers don't "snap" shut like Tupperware but they seem to be water tight all the same. The bento box itself can be hard to shut- it seems to need to be lined up just "so" with the inner boxes closed and seated correctly.

4.0 These are the best!

Comments about Product:

My kids LOVE these. I was skeptical that they'd lose the parts when they started taking them to school, but so far (about six months of school lunch now) all the pieces have been coming home. I think they enjoy putting them together again, like puzzles.

5.0 My 3yo and I love it!

Comments about Product:

When my daughter started preschool, they asked us to pack easy-to-open containers. The Laptop Lunch Box works great for this, because one latch opens her whole lunch. (I admit, I don't often pack juicy or saucy things, so I don't use the little internal lids much.) After a couple of weeks, I succumbed to envy and bought one for myself. So cute! I fit a medium-size sandwich in a big container by trimming it a bit and cutting it into quarters. My daughter gets two triangles with a couple of mini ice packs underneath, and I get four triangles stacked two-and-two. Either way, there are spaces which I fill with grapes, baby carrots, etc. The slot on the side for utensils works well for mini ice packs, yogurt tubes, cheese sticks or Babybel cheeses. Cleaning has not been a problem - I just give it a quick hand wash in the evening or morning. Sometimes the containers retain the smell of things like spaghetti sauce, but soaking them overnight in soapy water or baking soda has worked fine. The lunch box takes up a lot of space on the little preschool lunch table, but it hasn't been a problem yet. And it works great for impromptu picnics in our car or at a playground. I'm not sure how long the hinge on the outer container will last. The reviews saying that kids have used them for years are reassuring, but sooner or later that thing will wear out. I am now trying to find a good tote for this. I don't especially like the ones sold by Laptop Lunches. So far we've been using a cheapy from Whole Foods, but it's time for an upgrade!

5.0 love this lunch box

Comments about Product:

I have been using the laptop lunch boxes (with the coordinating bag) for three years now for all three of my children. It is perfect: no searching for lids, no wasting plastic bags. I line them up, fill the boxes, close the one lid and off they go. There is a space in the box for utensils and a space in the bag for a water bottle as well as a mesh pocket for ice pack. These lunch boxes have lasted three years through multiple grades (starting with pre kindergarten) and are appropriate for younger and older children. My husband even uses it!

1.0 Not recommended for children

Comments about Product:

I was very disappointed with this product and have returned it as defective. My 8-year old daughter could not open the box. The clasp was just too hard to maneuver. Even I found it a pain to open. A Reuseit.com representative told me they would only consider it defective only if 3 other similar boxes were easier to open. My guess is that this product simply should not be sold for children's use. I also question why this product is sold on this site. It is made of plastic. How is it more reusable or kinder to the environment than any lunch box on the market? Another problem with a bento box is that there's no place for a thermos or a water bottle. It is really nothing more than a large, hard-plastic container. To carry these things, you would need a large bag. In short, while Bento Boxes appear to be fashionable, I would not recommend any of them for a child.
