bluesign - Keeping textiles safe and earth-friendly

Switzerland-based bluesign® technologies offer an independent series of standards applied to the entire process of manufacturing textiles. These standards are specifically crafted to ensure any resources are used with maximum efficiency while holding participating manufacturers to a higher standard of environmental responsibility, health and safety.

By continuously auditing the energy, chemical and water usage of participating members, bluesign® intends to markedly reduce the ecological impact of the textile industry, beginning at the chemical supplier, through production, up to the customer’s doorstep.

When a company becomes a bluesign® member they agree to establish a system to improve environmental performance in five areas: resource productivity, consumer safety, water emissions, air emissions, and occupational health and safety. In order to maintain their status, members must meet specific improvement benchmarks.

These standards lead to better productivity, and a dual outcome of safety and economic success for the company involved and maximum protection for the consumer.
