2.0 Still can\'t get lid to sit on right

I bought this in Nov. 2010, and use it about 1-2x week. I love drinking out of glass. BUT, I just spilled juice all over my front yesterday because the lids are very, very hard to get on correctly. I had just bought juice from the grocery store and poured it into some leftover water in my Lifefactory container. Before driving off, I took extra care to screw it on as flat as possible, not at any angle. Mind you, I wasn't even using the original lid. No, I spent another $10+ ordering the flip-cap lid, since I couldn't put the flat lid on well enough and gave up on it, and figured why not try another lid, especially one that I don't have to unscrew every time (I can refill it using the small mouth-hole).It seems that there's no rhyme or reason to putting it on correctly. I can't tell when it's on wrong until it's too late. I usually stand over the sink to test it, and as I tip it, I think: this is a waste of time, I'm sure I got it right this time... but NO - it leaks! Other times I feel like I'm testing it in vain, since I think it's probably on wrong, but NO - it doesn't leak! So frustrating that I cannot recommend it, but this seems to be a personal problem. Take your chances. My kids aren't allowed to use it since it spilled out in the backseat a couple of times. We're all talented at screwing on the lids of our other metal bottles just fine!

This product is really great. We have nothing like it in my country (Norway), here it is common to drink from plastic bottles. I know that it's not the healthiest thing for you to drink from a plastic bottle, so when I found this glass bottle I got so excited! Shipping was really fast, and the bottle was packed really well! I thought it would be weird at first to drink from it, since it doesn't have a spout, but I have found out that it just like drinking from a glass. 1.0 Huge disappointment - Shattered

I was excited when I ordered this bottle, and more so when it arrived. It's great looking, easy to fill, and keeps water tasting clean. However, after having it for a few weeks, it rolled out of my bag onto a sidewalk and completely shattered. I purchased it because it noted its shatter-resistant design and the silicone sleeve that would protect it from breakage. Not so. Total waste of money. By Maria W

I've only had this bottle for 2 weeks but I'm quite happy with it so far. I take it to work everyday and the water tastes so much better from a glass bottle. The wide opening makes it so easy to drop ice cubes in.At first I thought it a bit pricey, but it will save money in the long run. And it looks great too! Only test left is to see if it breaks easily. Time will tell.

I purchase this bottle after first purchasing another and I really wish that I had gotten this one first! I really wasted money on the others. The wide opening on this bottle by Lifefactory fits ice!! The other didn't. It opens and closes tight easily. I like the handle on the top. 1.0 Not Worth the Money

Had my water bottle for less than three months and used it daily. The bottle was top heavy; fell over easily; difficult to screw on cap properly. In the end, the water bottle was in a tote bag with other containers when the bag got dropped. The bottle shattered immediately, ruining the bag and everything in it! I was very concerned that the bottle did not crack...it initially shattered. This bottle is not worth anyone's money, especially if you have ever dropped your tote bag, let alone any type of bottle! I couldn't believe the difference to drink out of a glass container!! I find I drink much more plain water than before. I don't feel I need to add flavorings, because it tastes better drinking out of glass. Same water, just different container. I use it for work, since I hate running to the water fountain for a drink. Just like advertised, the wide mouthpiece is great for cleaning and for ice cubes. It also have the amount of water in ml and oz in case you're curious about your intake. Not as bulky or awkward as the takeya glass bottle. I bought three Lifefactory bottles - for me and my two daughters. When they arrived i was a little concerned at the size and the weight especially for my kids who take it to school. But, we all got used to them and lovvvvve them - they look cool (which is important) are easy to clean and, keep the water fresh tasting.I was also extremely impressed with Re-use it - which i happened to stumble upon through a listing site called Pristine Planet (which has some awesome green product sites). The transaction was painless and the bottles arrived within three days - will definitely but more stuff from them and seek out more vendors from Pristine Planet!

My girls love these bottles; we have one in 16oz and the larger one. The wide mouth is great for ease of cleaning, the lid seals well and has a comfotable handle on top and they like that there is no metallic taste as from stainless steel bottles. The bottles also look super cute. One challenge, for younger kids: the wide open mouth can lead to more spillage, especially when they're used to a sports bottle top...they need to remember to put that lid back on! By Susan P

The bottle is a bit heavy but I love it...I purchased the mint green color and it is absolutely beautiful, washes easily too. I used to use the metal bottles but found that they made my water taste odd and they dented up quite too frequently. This glass bottle is super easy to wash because of the wide neck and makes your water taste fresh every time. This stupendous bottle is well designed and practical. Enables one to enjoy the purity and taste of water! Silicone sleeve easy to grip and soft,comfortable to the touch. I especially like the ring top cover which makes the bottle easy to tote. Bottle Cover removes and returns easily. Wide mouth easy to clean and drink from. I will purchase another as it is aesthetically pleasing to look at and makes one mindful and appreciative of the simple act of "hydrating oneself". I would prefer the top had an inner opening with a drinking lid instead of a jar like opening, but I am adjusting to the design which prevents me from gulping my beverage and requires that I focus while sipping which is much better for my health than rushing as I tended to do with plastic bottles. I was ecstatic to get this water bottle. I don't like the plastic taste from plastic water bottles and metal water bottles start to get a taste (in my opinion) after a while. I figured this was the perfect solution- it would be like drinking out of a glass, because I would be drinking out of glass!The product came and was beautiful, I chose the green and it was a lovely pastel sage. The bottle was durable, I didn't need to worry if it tipped over on the table, the silicone sleeve protected it from damage. Having the handle on the cap also seems more secure to me than having it attached to the sleeve- I knew it wouldn't break off and let the bottle drop.
It was a reasonable cost for a bottle, about what you'd spend on anything else and unlike metal water bottles, it's dishwasher safe.
The only problem I had was that I put some water in it to freeze and it cracked and died in the freezer. I made sure to not fill it up and leave room for the water to expand and kept the lid off, but it still didn't last. I'm considering getting another one because up until then I loved it, and if I do get another one, I won't freeze ice in the bottle.

I've tried many water bottles and have had to give up on all of them for one reason or another. I hate drinking out of plastic, stainless steel leaves a metallic taste to the water, and almost all bottles are simply hard to keep clean. This one is perfect. The wide mouth lets me fit a bottle brush inside to prevent scale buildup and keep my water tasting fresh every time. The lid fits on securely and prevents leaks, while providing an easy carry handle as well. I liked this one so much I ordered the smaller size as well, for travel purposes. This is my favorite water bottle. I purchased the white color. I also own a klean kanteen, which has gotten beaten up a bit from being dropped. I accidentally dropped this glass water bottle on the pavement, and it did not even crack! The bottle it's self is gorgeous. I like the fact that it is glass, and does not alter the taste of my water. It fits in the cup holder of the car & stroller. I love these bottles & have them in every color. Also gave them as gifts to friends. Accidentally knocked one off a counter & it did not break! Glass leaves no odor & washes in dishwasher. I like the 22 oz. size tho' I wish it came in the 16 oz colors! Lid fits well. Need to watch where I put lip of glass to my lips -- it can spill if not careful however OK if I pay attention. We've had our water bottle for 10 months now. I use it A LOT taking it with me to Karate, the playground, walks on the trail and any place I think we might be thirsty. I love the wide mouth for adding ice and washing. I like the handle on the lid for carrying. It is a big bottle AND it's made of glass, so it can be heavy. If that is a concern for someone, perhaps the smaller bottle would help? Sometimes, my littlest girl (5) has a hard time getting the lid on straight. And then it will leak, but we've had no leaking when the lid is on properly. I dropped mine once outside on the cement driveway and it didn't break. It should have broken, but I got very lucky. I have a friend who bought one of these for each of her children, and her 7th grader has already broken 3 of them. I wouldn't recommend it for kids. And I don't think they have a chance of lasting as long as the metal ones, but for me, that's a chance I'm willing to take because the taste of metal and plastic bothers me. I know it sounds like I gave a lot of negative comments and still a good review, but I really love this bottle. But you do need to be careful with it (in the same way you would any glass bottle). We love the Lifefactory water bottles! They come in wonderful colors and we like the fact that they are made out of glass. It is a great plus to wash these in the dishwasher. We like the size of the openings and also the caps with a handle. They are pretty durable, can't say we've dropped any yet (knock on wood. Finally a way to transport water in a non-toxic container that does not negatively affect the way your water tastes! I am sensitive to the taste in the stainless steel bottles so have been hoping someone would come up with a solution and this is it. The mouth is wide enough to add ice cubes and the entire thing is able to be put in the dishwasher for cleaning. The silicone sleeve stays attached to the glass which I thought would be a problem trapping water and becoming moldy -however this is not the case. It seems to fit so snuggly water doesn't get under it to create this problem. I like that the lid is a screw on type and I never need to touch anything that will be touching my mouth.The only negative thing is that the bottle is so tall it is a bit clumsy when trying to fit it into the car cup holders. It is not a problem to let it roll around on the seat next to you because it is not going to leak and the mouth remains sanitary. I take it to the gym and it fits fine in the spinning cycle cup holder. By Renata K

The glass won't survive a nasty fall, but my bottle takes a fair amount of abuse and hasn't broken yet. The only problem I've had is my first one got swiped and I had to get another one. I love my water bottle and have given it as a gift too. Drinking from glass tastes much better than from staneless steel, which is what my other water bottles were. Easy to clean in the dish washer and the covering really protects the glass. The mouth is nice and wide and ice goes in easily. This is a great water bottle, but it turned out to not be worth the money for me. I originally chose it to get away from plastic, aluminum, and other prevalent materials out there for water bottles. This had a great look and was unique. The downfalls were there though. It's pretty heavy for a water bottle, which was expected, but it turned out to be so heavy with water in it that I rarely brought it out with me. Also, mine broke. I admit that I'm pretty clumsy, but I dropped it once (just standing still!) and it completely shattered. It looks durable, but apparently not so much. Other than that, I loved it. But this was a pretty expensive water bottle that only lasted me about a month. If you tend to drop things once in a while, I'd think about it before taking the risk. By Danielle R

Usually after yoga, I get smoothies... I spent nearly 2 months not getting smoothies and when I saw this water bottle I decided that I would get it with the hopes that I could either make smoothies to-go or buy smoothies and have them put in this bottle. I LOVE this.... the wide mouth makes it convenient for smoothies to be poured in with little to no mess... I bought this bottle as an alternative to both plastic and stainless steel bottles as I don't like the way either of them taste. I really love this bottle. The water only tastes like water, nothing from the container. I am generally clumsy so I bought two so that if I broke one, I would have a spare. So far I have not used the extra one at all! The silicone sleeve makes the bottle very easy to carry. The only downside is that it is a little heavy when full. I have had so many people ask me where I got the bottle and I have pointed a least a dozen to this site! Love this place! Great bottle! By Amy P

I've been reusing a Starbucks Frappucino bottle for my iced coffee. I was very happy to find this well-designed glass bottle for both water and iced coffee. The very thoughtful features allow this bottle to be carried easily by its cap. You can hold the cap easily in the large C-shaped top while drinking from the cap. The silicon outer sleeve to minimizes dropping the bottle and provides mild cushion for a minor drop. The water tastes great-- nice and clean, without the plastic or metallic taste from other bottles. It washes easily in the dishwasher. Unfortunately it's a bit heavy since it's glass. I can't take it with me on long walks, hikes, etc... I still have to take the old aluminum or SS bottles on those excursions. But it's perfect for places where you don't have to carry the bottle around constantly, e.g., at work while it's sitting on your desk, for the brief jaunt to the gym. By Lynn Miya F

I absolutely love this bottle. I have been looking for a glass reusable bottle for a long time now. Not only are they stylish, they don't give me that funky after taste that stainless steel bottles give, and I don't have to worry about toxins from plastic bottles. This bottle has a nice wide mouth and is easy to clean. I have one at my work, one in the car, one in my bedroom, and one that I carry around with my smoothie snack! I love this product!! I have had several different types of water bottles over the years. This is my favorite because the water tastes great coming out of it! I've even used it at home. No more metal or plastic after taste. The cons are that it is a bit heavy, the top doesn't always screw on smoothly, and the mouth is a bit wide, so I tend to spill a bit on myself. Also, I did accidently drop it once onto the pavement, but no breakage:-). By Sharon D

I just love my Lifefactory Water Bottle..It is big enough to hold my ice tea and water..love that it is made of glass..have put it in the dishwasher and came out fine..have had alot of compliments about it at Whole Foods..they carry the bottles for babies and just might be ordering the bottle that I had!! I loooove this bottle! I was SO sick of using my Kleen Canteens because of the metal taste so when I saw these glass bottles I had to get one. I love it. My water tastes so clean and fresh - no more metal taste! The bottle is very pretty, love the red color. Only minor negative is that it's pretty heavy. I ordered one for me and my kids but it will be way to heavy to carry both bottles around at the same time. I wish it came in a smaller kids size. Overall, looove it!! By Sylvia S

Glass is simply the best. Plastic leaches chemicals. Metals leach metals. Now there's finally a great glass option. Very well made. Cap is sturdy. Wish the cap wasn't plastic, but it's at least BPA free and I don't know what other option there could be with glass. Oh and they look cool too. I bought 2 and love them. By alyssa r

This water bottle is so great! You can avoid the aluminum or plastic taste with this bottle & it looks so great. I always get comments on it. I have not dropped it yet but I am hoping that when that happens, there will be no issue due to the thick glass and silicone sleeve. Water does not get warm too fast because of the thickness as well. My only complaint is the price, despite this-I will purchase another! I know with the baby bottles they make, some websites offer just the bottle w/o the sleeve for MUCH less expensive and you can just trade off the sleeve. I will be on the lookout for this option for the large water bottle. By lauren n

I've used plastic bottles (non-BPA included) - they always get stinky and hard to clean. I've used metal bottles - mine were cheapies that aggregated white slime in the bottle and sort of rusted. I LOVE my LifeFactory bottle. I can't wait for cooler colors (forest green would be fabulous). I love the dark blue one. It's easy to wash/rinse. I use a bottle brush every other week for the inside, but feel I could go a very long time without doing so. I use a toothbrush to scrub the spiral portion on the lid once every other month when lip gloss builds up. So easy! Perfect for lazy people like me who don't have dishwashers. After a certain plastic bottle company had a major recall, then a certain metal bottle company had a major recall, I became pretty mistrusting of anything but good old-fashioned glass. I looked forever and was beyond excited to find this one. I bought the red one and I love, love, love it! It is a perfect size (tall and slender) and easy to grip and carry around. Since it is glass...there isn't any nasty metal or plastic taste to the water. The silicone sleeve overlaps on the bottom to give it some extra traction. The glass has a satisfying weight to it and the thickness is somewhere between a drinking glass and a mason jar. It feels surprisingly durable considering it is glass. It is substantial enough I don't feel like I have to be super careful with it...I feel like it could take a pretty good beating. The wide mouth is great because you can add ice straight from the freezer without having to crush it or use the long specialty ice tube trays. It is also super easy to clean as opposed to the metal bottles with the teeny tiny mouth that aren't dishwasher safe and need a bottle brush to really clean properly. Overall, this is just a great product! I HIGHLY recommend it! By Alison S

I would never choose to drink from plastic or metal at home, and now I get to drink from glass when I am in my car, taking a water break from a volleyball game, hanging out at the park with my kids, or attending an all-day conference. You might still be wondering how a glass bottle is going to make it to all of these things without breaking. The bottle has a non-toxic tight-fitting silicone sleeve that protects it from breaking, and also gives you a good grip on the bottle. The sleeves are brightly colored with a cool, modern design. These bottle are great, I love them. My children are grown now but I have these for my grandchildren as they have transitioned off of nursing. I have always disliked plastic bottles, they look horrible and they wind up eventually in the garbage and out to a landfill. The glass can be recycled...fabulous!!View All
