I think my favorite thing about the spork is that for my 6 and 4 year old sitting down at the table, there is no more "but I don't have a spoon (or fork". Inevitably the one they wanted would be missing. Ah ha! These are well made. I broke one once scooping a block of ice cream...well use an ice cream scoop. I also really like tossing one into the lunch box and always having the right utensil. The colors seem to match kid-related products on the market right now...coincidentally coordinated...that's my style.
Having the spoon on one side and the fork on the other is a great design. My son takes it to school for salads and the fork side works much better than most spoon/fork combos. It is sharp enought to grab the food. He really likes them.
Great product. I keep mine in my purse so no food goes uneaten for lack of a utensil. Great gifts to encourage friends and family to forgo plastic-wear! Fabulous for frozen yogurt! Would love to see more crazy colors!
Love the colours! Took a while getting used to, as it seemed to large at first, but I eventually got comfortable with it. Although if seems sturdy and strong I have a feeling with too much pressure it would break, so I handle them very gently. The knife part is actually quite sharp, and they are of course ideal for taking with you, so you could leave the real flatware home. Would be getting the kids' version as it is sometimes too large for my cup. All in all, they are serving the purpose in a funky and sporty way. I love them!
We've had two green spoons for a long time now (speaks to their durability), so when my daughter found these in the drawer she squealed, "Ooooh! These come in other colors!!" Ah, the excitement of a 6-year-old. My kids love these in their lunches for fruit. We've tried renaming it a million things. A spoknork? Because you can't forget that there's a built-in serrated edge in addition to the spoon and fork. Very handy for cutting up chunks of fruit!
These are much bigger than I envisioned, but that's definitely a good thing. I haven't used them extensively enough to comment on their durability. The only complaint I would have is that I have to be careful about closing my lips around the fork due to the serrated edge. It won't cut you the first time, but it can rough up your lips after an entire meal.
I've been trying to get my boyfriend to take me hiking, but he says I pack too much, so he loves these.
I loved the Spork set. They are very sturdy and are great to throw in my children's lunch sacks. We even use them at home if the spoons are in the dishwasher.
We use these sporks in the kids lunchboxes for fruit salad, yogurt, pasta and other non-finger foods.
This is the perfect utensil for my son's lunchbox. They are lightweight, durable and colorful. The price is right in case one gets lost.
I originally ordered the sporks to save for camping next summer . . . . but my family loves to use them now! My husband takes them to school because they "do everything". Love the quality, the colors . . . a great purchase.
Whether you need a fork or a spoon, these are just the utinsels you need.
I love these sporks! I always get compliments on these items. I use it for soups, fruit, yogurt and they are super easy to clean!
Couldn't be happier with these. They make a nice addition to my lunch bag since work doesn't provide eating utensils. They are a little odd feeling in your hand because of the shape but they do what they are made to do...so can't complain.
I love these! My husband and I take them to work every day - though it is hard to eat soup with the spoon side. The other two are for our camping gear, and I also thought we'd take them on our upcoming trip since you never know when you might end up having an impromptu picnic lunch.
I got these for my kids lunch bags. They love them and I love not using disposable plasticware! They are just the right size to pack.
I have to admit I use the spoon side of the spork more, as it is generously sized, and perfect for eating soups and cereal. It feels a little awkward at first, with the limited handle space, especially if you use the spoon and fork for the same meal. But overall, I'm happy with these sporks.
I took this to work to eat my lunch with there and I love it. I have used it 5 days a week for at least one meal, some days for two and have never had any problems. I've eaten everything from spaghetti to meat loaf, used all three parts of this utensil and recommended it to several people. Mind you I wouldn't try to cut steak with the cutting edge but for the average meal it works just fine.
My three year old enjoys using these at home. I carry one with lunch because they are so convenient. No food staining so far and easy to clean. Yay!
These are everything I had hoped in a reusable utensil. I like the way they look and work. I have used them to eat my lunch at work and they really get attention from my co-workers. I will buy more!
My son loves them in his lunch box. This way he's prepared no matter what he takes or happens to pick up at school. I'm considering replacing the disposable utensils at our office w/ these.
I actually got my kids the small, kid sized ones, but they like these bigger ones. They are very sturdy. I love that we don't have to waste disposables at school anymore. I'm going to get several sets for my Girl Scout Troop.
We enjoy using the sporks. My husband and I travel daily for work and these sporks are wonderful for food on the go(goodbye sandwiches and hello, lasagna, soup, grilled chicken, etc) Our daughter is in elementary school where the focus is on reuse and or recycle. I was a bit hesitant because the fork is serrsted, that she would not be allowed to utilize it, but it is fine. She is very popular with her lunch accessories from Reusable Bags which incudes a teracycle lunch bag and kleen canteen water bottle. We have several birthday parties to aatend and sporks will be a part of the gift for each.
These sporks are just great. I took one with me on a trip to Bangkok, Bhutan, and India, and it both survived the rigors of my day pack and came in very handy. The serrated surface peels fruits and vegetables but somehow doesn't get in the way when you're using the spork for food delivery. I gave sporks as stocking stuffers to my nephews for Christmas this year so they could get into the habit of avoiding plastic cutlery when they go to fast food joints. And I still carry one with me at all times in the event I find myself needing cutlery while out and about.
Bought a couple before!Once someone sees it yours will be gone! Stock up with extras. This is the cheapest I found
This tool takes a little getting used to, but overall I am really pleased with my purchase. I took one to work to keep in my desk drawer to use at lunch, and it is satisfying to always have an eating tool and not have to scrounge around begging and borrowing plastic forks or spoons. All the utensils work pretty well, although it feels awkward at first. I wish the shank were just a bit longer, so you could get a better grip, but that is a minor problem. I love that I can just give it a quick wash and toss it back in my drawer, ready for tomorrow's meal. I would definitely buy again.
I just ordered a 4-pack of the Light My Fire Sporks and my kids LOVE them! Every day they ask me to pack something for lunch that requires the use of a spork. They particularly like the knife on the side which most other sporks don't have. Great for pasta, applesauce, yogurt, anything!
Bought these to put in my 7 year-old's lunch, and he loves them. They have cool colors, easy to clean, and so far quite durable.
My kids love these and a month in, all of them have made it back home in their lunch boxes - no accidental toss-outs. My left-handed child commented that the serrated edge was not well-placed for her. So maybe Light my Lefty Fire Sporks are in order?
My 14 year old son loves these in his lunches. He said they remind him of backpacking! A lot of the boys in his class also think they are cool. They are awesome and we aren't throwing plastic ware away!
I love these sporks!! I found at a huge selection of them at a local art museum and my friends and i all got matching ones!! I happen to be using one right now! And the serrated edge doesn't cut your mouth like you think it would!
We love this spork -- it's the only utensil my daughter used through two years of preschool lunches. She had no problem eating with it or holding it. We bought 4 of them and they still look perfect. We first wrote her name on them in Sharpie, but it faded in the dishwasher, so we stuck a Mabel's Labels dishwasher-safe label on each one and that worked well. She's starting Kindergarten now and the sporks are coming with us. A great part of a zero-waste lunch!
Bought this for myself, but when the bamboo spork we bought was a bust, we let our kids try these out. They loved it and it's a good size for them too (pre-schooler and school age). I like using it too. Very cool product!
I am using these for lunches at work and at meal and snack times at home. Because I prefer non-metal utensils for eating most of the time, they are handy. One spork tine broke about the fourth time it was used while I was using the cutting edge to start peeling an orange. (I have requested a complementary replacement.) I would like to have them available for a zero waste housewarming to help others appreciate that reducing trash accumulation can be colorful and fun.
Very convenient; covers all utensil needs; even fits in the laptop bento box. One less question to address when packing 4 kids' lunches 5 times a week. The navy one discolored in the dishwasher (very top rack); I hope the plastic is still safe.
My foray into sporks started with the cheap plastic ones, then progressed to the Microbites, which I really liked for their strength and convenience. But the spoon was too small, and so were the fork tines, making eating a frustrating experience every day. When I saw the Light My Fire spork, I had to try it. Although it doesn't feel as sturdy as the Microbite, the design is far better, and I love that there is only one utensil for all three functions. The spoon and fork are both functional, and the knife is Suggestions for the future: Make the shaft stronger, punch a hole through it so people can strap it to their packs, and consider a fold down knife on the shaft (w/edge protector).
My daughter likes her sporks...my only complaint is that I ordered one pink and one blue set and received two pinks so my son didn't get to have his own. But, I didn't want to go through the process of returning it to get the order corrected.
After using my spork for only the second time, it broke. My son had finished using it, then washed it in hot water, when it snapped in two. I have yet to use the others, I hope this was a fluke.
Oops. Sorry, I rated the wrong sporks. My last review was regarding the kids sporks not these. I gave these away as a gift so not sure how my brother liked them yet.
I really love how these look and they worked great once or twice, but when I started to use mine regularly, they snapped in two after only 5 or so uses. I hoped it was a fluke but it happened to me three times, and one of those times I got pretty badly cut when it snapped.
If they made these tougher, I'd be happy to try them again!
If you are a lefty, when you use the spoon, the knife edge of the fork rubs your hand. It's still a reasonable product, just irritating for lefties.
I have had these forks for over a year. One broke within 2 weeks after my son accidentally bit the fork while eating his lunch. I wondered whether he was just too rough...then it happened to me...the fork cracked at the prongs with a simple bite. I did not return them, but I am sure they would have been easily replaced. I still have the other two. They have held up fair, but appear to be fading and becoming brittle. They have never been placed in a dishwasher because I must hand wash the kid's thermos' anyways. I wonder about how they would last with regular cleaning in a dishwasher? Everyone loves them- colorful, convenient, eco friendly, etc. However, I would not purchase these again even though 2 are still in use a year later. For the expense, I really ended up with two fancy plastic sporks when I paid for four very expensive items. My next purchase will be stainless steel camping utensils. The new Tritan chemicals (although BPA free) still leave all health concerns unanswered as well. My rating is neutral because they do serve their purpose. I would recommend trying another product first.
