These bags came to me very quickly, thank you Reuseit. They are just what I expected, simple organic cotton bags with a nice sturdy drawstring at the top. I plan to use these bags for a sewing project with friends called crazy quilting. What each person decides to use their new creation for after that I am not sure but I plan to store small knitting projects like socks and gloves in mine.
These produce bags are great not just as produce bags but also useful to wash clothes in the delicate cycle of the laundry machine as to avoid stretching wool and delicate fabrics. It is also a handy way for getting them washed. I got a set ten years ago and are still are using them. Not one has ripped apart because they are very well made. I have gotten more as gifts and just to have a few more handy as I have started buying more from the bulk area in the supermarket.
These Produce and Snack Bags will never see an apple or a candy bar. I knit once a week with a crazy bunch of gals and we try to come up with something unique for Christmas each year. I started storing "in-progress" knitting projects in the lovely bags, then I started creating iron-on transfers for them...socks or dishcloth or sweater or whatever. Then it hit me. Most of us bring small easy projects to our get-togethers (it is impossible to knit lace and carry on a spirited or hysterically funny conversation) and I could make each person a personalized bag to tote from home to meeting and so on. I can already see "Divine Diane." I've had a batch of these bags for more than 4 years and they are still as good as new. And yes, they get washed regularly. I don't put nice, clean yarn in a dirty bag. Life is too short to knit with poor yarn.
I love these bags -- great for everything from dry bulk goods, to keeping my roma tomatoes together in the drawer, to storage of freshly harvested sprouts and leafy greens.
For stuff that tends to wilt, I use the cotton inside a plastic bag. Keeps the leaves fresher longer and the cotton does a great job of absorbing any moisture so the greens don't get slimy.
This product is great! I use them in my 2nd grade classroom as book bags. They are durable enough for 7 year-olds to use on a daily basis for carrying and storing their reading books. I first bought a set of 20 for my classroom 3 years ago and those bags are still in great shape!
I love this bag for keeping veggies in the drawers in my refrigerator - just grab it and all my salad fixins are at my disposall in a few seconds flat!!
I love the produce bags, we go to the farmer's market every Sunday and all the farmer's comment on them and they are happy we are not using their plastic bags. Other people have asked where I got them and I tell them about your website. My husband says I am saving the world, one bag at a time.
Love them, work great. Hold a lot more than what I originally thought.
Long lasting in every way! I use these every day and have had the same handfull (both sizes) for over a year. Crumbs shake out easily, and all produce stains have washed out quickly. Though they are machine washable, they hand wash and hang dry quickly! I love the basic look, I think that adds to their "long lasting" quality. My other snack and misc carry bags are prints that I get in & out of the mood to use but these are ever handy in any situation. I've also used the small bags to carry toiletries & make up products, and the larger size has come in handy to carry a change of clothes. I often keep these in my pack or purse "just in case".
I ordered these bags to use as bread bags (for home made cinnamon bread gifts) for xmas presents. Unfortunately, the small bags were too small, and the large bags were too large. I do like the bags a lot, and I will use them for other things. Thanks.
Every time I went to the organic farm to get my vegetables I kept thinking there has to be a better way besides using the plastic bags provided at the farm. I was so happy to find these cotton bags, they work wonderfully, and I can now shop without guilt. When I get home I just transport the produce items to another container that I keep in the refrigerator. When they get dirty I just throw them in the washing machine. The best thing is I never have to use another wretched plastic bag.
I have a whole set of these bags to use for things in my luggage ie: shoes, toiletries, dirty laundry, etc. These xl bags are perfect for a pair of shoes-or 2! I also put all my "dirty" laundry folded up in one so my other items stay clean. I also use them to put cat food in when I have to send my cat to a friends house for extended stays, and birdseed from bulk from my feedstore. So many uses beyond the grocery store....
I use this bag when I shop at farmer's markets. The bag lets the moisture out, so the fruits and certain vegetables last longer. It did not work well with leafy green veggies; the leaves wilted after a few days in the refrigerator. On the other hand, my potatoes and pears are still fresh. The draw string works well to keep the produce in the bag and is easy to open and close.
I like them & am glad I bought them (after months of hesitation because of the price). Easy to use & wash. I've had them for about 8 months- so far so good. I use them less than the mesh bags for produce, but they're great for bulk grains, etc.
These bags are very well made and very useful. My 15 year old son used them all last year. This year we chose black bags so the stains don't show up.
I love these produce bags! Not only do i feel good using them cause i know its for the great cause but ive gotten several people asking aboout them not to mention people turning their heads! Thanks so much
These bags are fantastic for buying bulk items: beans, nuts, dried fruit, spices, granola, grains, seeds, dried coconut, corn meal, rolled oats, chocolate chips, etc... I recommend the laundry mat technique to wrap and tuck of the draw string to contain small items like sesame seeds and rice. After pulling the drawstring closed wrap the string around once and then tuck it under and pull to create a tight closure. It works perfectly! This design is so simple and multifunctional I can't imagine an improvement on the design. Several people have said that the weight of the bag is not a concern. I disagree. I only use them at stores where I know the sales person knows how to ring a tare. Most healthfood stores and food coops will do this, but you would be surprised. I would check first. For example a pound of organic almonds might cost 11.99. With a tare of 0.09 that would be an additional $1.07 per pound! This adds up if you buy all or most of your groceries in bulk. Not weighing the bag tare would probably cost me an additional $100/year. Buisinesses will offer to tare bags if there is enough demand. It won't hurt to ask.
Second time ordering these bags. They are great for the farmers market, washable and sturdy.
I got these bags just in time for summer when all the produce stands are coming out and I am so glad I did. I have been able to avoid plastic bags since buying these. I love how they didn't come in any plastic either.
Will be using them for a wedding. They will be filled with healthy organic treats and given to the children coming to our wedding. We are hoping they will have a snack to tide them over during the reception before dinner is served. We are also ironing on a transfer to personalize them!
I purchased these bags to replace the wasteful produce bags at the grocery store. This purchase was to increase my supply because I am sometimes left without them when they are in the wash. The large size bags are REALLY big compared to the small ones. I wish there was a medium! The small will hold a couple onions or apples, while the large is about the size (maybe a little bigger) of a plastic produce bag (but WAY sturdier). They are so versatile - I keep one for my iPod and headphones for the gym - and they are easy to clean. I sometimes accidentally put them in the dryer and they shrink A LOT, so you want to be careful with the small ones - I think I'll purposefully put the large ones in the dryer, though. They do weigh more than plastic bags and although they are marked for the cashier to tare them on the scale, I seriously doubt many cashiers know how to do this, even if they are able to. Wegman's grocery stores allow you to weigh and print your own labels, so I just weigh without the bag and then put them in. When shopping elsewhere, I just accept that I'm going to pay a few cents more - I'm sure if I asked them to give me credit for the reusable produce bags along with the grocery bags, they probably would.
Product use: The intention of the product is to serve as a reusable alternative to the plastic bags that are made available by grocery stores for things such as a produce and other stuff (i.e., purchasing rice or yogurt covered pretzels in bulk). This serves its purpose wonderfully. The only hassle is that it's easy to spill grains, such as rice. For things such as a produce or other bulk items that aren't as small, these are perfect. It's highly suggested that things like leafy fresh greens not be stored in these past the trip to the grocery store. Storage for fruits like apples, mushrooms, etc., they're not too bad. Construction: Built with organic cotton, the make of these are suitable for the intended use. Obviously, washing produce isn't a solid option in this respect. The drawstring helps secure the contents of the bag. There's a tag on the inside with washing instructions as well as the weight of the bag. Appearance: Plain and simple natural color. No logos or anything. Value: I'm neutral about it. I can see why these could be a problem - these cost more than the reusable bags probably four times the size. Because the are organic cotton though, I see the price as suitable. They are of good quality. Dislikes: None.
I use these bags to take to the grocery store to hold bulk items, such as nuts or seeds.
I was already using reusable bags for all of my shopping and produce but couldn't figure out how to get around using plastic bags in the bulk section. These are perfect! I even put flour and corn meal in them! I have also been using them as freezer bags. These bags are the best!
I have 3 of these bags now and use them to purchase produce at the grocery store. They are lightweight and easy to wash. I've also used them to bring snacks, like almonds, to work. Very useful product!
I love these bags for the bulk bins of my grocery store. The small size are perfect for the granola or grains, while the large are big enough for fresh greens.
I purchased my first lot of these a few years ago and they work excellent. Some people have complained about the extra weight cost but unless you are drenching them with water I don't see how this could drive the cost up that much. Most of the produce is per bunch and the ones that require a weight measurement have not cost much extra at all. The drawstrings make them easy to close and keep the items in and when I get them dirty they are easy to wash. I highly recommend these for anyone looking to replace those awful produce bags in the grocery store. These bags are so light, easy to carry, easy to clean and affordable.I have recently purchased more of these bags and I use them all the time. I think it's great that there are also two sizes though I mostly use the large because I never know what type of produce or how much I will be buying.
These bags are great, both my girls and myself use them for snacks (tortilla chips, crackers, etc).
I love not needing to use the bulk and produce bags when I go shopping now! I try to reuse the plastic bags I have and to recycle the ones that are falling apart, but now I don't have to collect any new ones. I feel more wholesome showing up with my organic cotton bags.
I absolutely love these very practical bags - I use them for so many different things, including snacks, bulk herbs/tea/beans/rice at the grocery store, to keep utensils clean in a lunch bag. I just throw them in the washer and dryer - I don't worry about shrinkage because the size they end up are fine. I do prefer mesh bags for produce but for bulk produce these are so much better than using the plastic baggies!
Love that we can stop using so many plastic baggies for the fruit and other snacks on our kids lunches. We just throw them in the wash with the rest of the laundry and at such a reasonable price we bought enough to cycle through everyday. Would recommend.
As a long time recycler, opver 30 years, I was still struggling with the holidays and a festive way to give my gifts. I came upon your bags and went with them. I made a gift tag out of fabric and pinned it to your bags. Put the gifts in and that was it. My family will receive their gifts from me in the same bag for eavery occasion from now on! I loved it! My family is coming around!! They were a little surprised that I asked for each bag back.
I Purchased the bags to use for gift wrapping gifts as well as my own personal use. I try to always give gifts that carry a message and why stop at the wrapping? I have been using reusable canvas bags instead of plastic for a few years now. I would refuse to use the plastice produce bags for my produce and when it came time to check out- I often made things pretty difficult for the cashier with all the loose produce. I was pretty grossed out too when my bare fruits and veggies would be on the checkout counter, the scale, and finally touched by the cashiere and the bagger. That's so much exposure to additional germs and grime. The bags now serve as a little piece of mind for me when I go to the grocery store.
Produce, snacks and customized gift bags. These bags are versatile and priced just right for a number of uses.
The largest size are perfect for bigger produce items.
I own and have used many different types of snack bags over the years, and the Acme ones have the best quality and design by far. They are a heavier fabric material that keeps its shape well and protects the contents from crushing. The top stays open which makes for easy snacking. They are easily wiped down for cleaning and also come out great from the washing machine. They are good for both dry and wet (chopped veggie) snacks and would work for sandwiches - although I prefer wrap mats for sandwiches. Buy them - you will not be disappointed.
I love these bags! I have enough for me, now I order them to use for wrapping gifts. A second gift for the receiver and spreading the green message. I leave the tag on them The little ones are great for gift cards, and then the children can use them for snacks.
I love these little bags to put snacks in when I go out with my kids. I also use them for putting my son's sandwich in for his school lunch. I will never use plastic sandwich bags again!!
The bags are awesome. My girls love using these for lunch items like tortilla chips or crackers and other snacks. My teenager was proud to show the bag off to her Green Club at school.
I think they're great! Another customer in the grocery store saw them and wanted some for herself. Then on another day another customer saw them and wanted some, but thought I'd made them.
Fabulous bags - I'm so happy not to use plastic. They keep produce pretty well and wash well too!
I recently ordered your muslin and net organic bags and I am so pleased with them. The stores have no problem with them. I leave the bag a little open at checkout so they can check inside. I washed them first in cold water and let them drip dry and they shrank about an inch in length so the small bags are not as useful as the larger ones. I leave produce such as carrots in the bags in the frig. Thank you for helping the planet. Good-bye plastic bags.
I love these bags! I bought this one to replace one I lost. The large bags can hold a lot and are great when going to Farmers Markets. The only drawback I have seen is that since they are cotton they can of course stain. Other than that I have been very pleased with them and will continue to use them.
These are terrific to take to the Farmer's Market every Saturday am. They hold a great deal, yet are comfortable to carry, even loaded with produce.
I like that they hold ears of corn, eggplant, cabbage, tomatoes, and are washable. they are a great addition to my other muslin bags that are smaller!
These bags are great, I orginally bought them for my children to take dry snacks in their lunches.....but they are so big, we are using them for lunch bags!!! They are very affordable, sturdy, and wash up very nice. I highly recommend them.
Invaluable when shopping for produce. Between these mesh bags and the looser woven cotton variety, I haven't had to use a plastic produce bag in ages.
Wonderful bags! Very durable. I've come back to buy more!
These are great little bags. I take them to the farmers market where everyone oohs and ahhs over them. They are so handy and great for keeping produce in the frig as well. It is the complete opposite of a grocery produce bag - organic, does not effect the favor of the produce, reusable, washable, strong, durable and easy to open. I just love them!
I think these bags are great! We use them to hold fruit, tortilla chips, cookies, anything you would use a plastic ziplock snack/sandwich bag for.
These are great for the bulk items at your grocery store instead of plastic -- use them for nuts, flour, grains -- simply use one of the twist ties in top as you would a plastic one to indicate to the checker what item you have. I transfer to glass jars at home. I use the mesh bags for produce so the checker can see what's inside.
We are a teaching nature center and one of our field trip activities involves "mystery bags" that the students use - we wanted to use something reusable and environmentally-friendly to promote our values. The small muslin bags were perfect - durable and well-made. We stamped them with colorful animal stamps and they're perfect!
I love these bags! I always take my compact bags to the produce stand, but it is hard getting the smaller items together to put on the scale....things like beans, okra, etc. These cotton bags have totally solved that problem! The vegetables go in there, on the scale, and then in the big bag! Problem solved! Now I leave the produce stand with as many plastic bags as I came in with. ZERO!
An excellent investment. I use them for fresh produce and fruits. They work very well.
I love these reuseable bags. I put snacks in them when I go out with the kids. What a great idea these are to save from using those plastic sandwich bags! I will use the reuseable bag for the school year too for my son's lunches!
When I saw a young lady using these bags at my local market, I just knew I had to have them. She told me about your website and I ordered immediately. After I got a selection for myself, I bought some for my parents - and we LOVE them!! I can shop virtually guilt free, the SKU stickers from the store peel right off, and the small bags are great to store veggies in the crisper drawer in the frig. My one and only suggestion is that I could do without the tags that come on each individual bag at the time of shipping. Other than that - a wonderful and earth-conscious product. ~Thanks!
ACME Bags are well-made and have a multitude of uses. I like using the muslin bags for produce items like broccoli and asparagus that tend to get caught in the mesh bags. I have also found that the large size bags are just right to use as travel shoe bags (place a pair sole to sole). ACME Bags are an excellent value and I appreciate that the company uses fair labor/trade practices.
really useful in all sizes, washes easily. we use ours for snacks and sandwiches in lunches
These are great, bigger than I thought. I would recommend them.
Great! Several uses- produce, lunch, etc. Great fabric, easy to store. Lots of uses. Very happy. Wash well.
Purchased the small version to hold one-offs like garlic, ginger, etc. Works great. I feel good about not grabbing the plastic bags...
I bought these to add to some that I already had, another brand. The small one is pretty small, about 5 apples. I love the size of the big ones, really big, great for long items. Good value.
Great price, and an even better product! I have been wanting a natural, reusable-bag solution, for this purpose, for years now. And boy, am I satisfied with these... Lite-weight, made of a natural material, washable and sturdy, but best of all they replace those nasty little plastic baggies. What more could you ask of a product? Their smaller sized bags are perfect for nuts, herbs, and small veggies and fruits. But for your larger fruits and veggies; apples, tomatoes, pears, spinach, potatoes, etc...you really need the larger sized bags. I recommend purchasing at least 5 of each size, cause when you get them you will have wished you bought more. I absolutely love this product! Thank you, ReusableBags.com!
Loves these bags, they're perfect for bulk items, fruits & vegetables. I no longer use the produce plastic bags when I shop!
Really the produce bags were the last plastic bags I was using so I'm very happy to have found a substitute. Excellent product. Only bought 5 though and that is just not enough for market day. Have bought more but the mesh variety - I think it might be better to see what is inside.
My grocery store can't set the tare for the weight of the bag but the bag doesn't even register on their scale so it's no big deal. Great bags, I wish I would've gotten more :-)
Small size perfect for grains and beans.
Reusable produce bags are a great idea and I'm glad I bought them. The large size was larger than expected. I wish I would have ordered a few of the small ones. This is just one little way we can all make a difference.
I got the bags quickly and have used them. They seem great. No problems at all. Thanks!
These are fantastic. The small size is a little bigger than expected but still great! Beats plastic any day.
love them! easy to take with you and functional. i hate the thin plastic bags the grocery stores provide b/c they break and if you tie them, you have to tear or cut them to get into them. great idea and i'll probably be getting these for family and friends for the holidays.
I recently received my first order from reusablebags.com. I love the organic cotton produce bags. They are well made. As we eat at ton of produce, I especially like the fact that I don't have to use all those nasty plastic produce bags anymore!!
I purchased the smaller size and loved them. I bought the larger size for the farmer's market and larger produce. I get compliments on them all the time!
Great product! I never go to the grocery store without a few of these bags to put my produce in.
These sturdy cotton bags make excellent gift bags and bags for transporting snacks. They're big enough to carry a beverage and an apple, but not so big that a sandwich would be lost inside. The fact that they're machine washable is also a bonus. I gave an eco-conscious friend a gift and used it as a gift bag and she was thrilled! Excellent value for the price. I'm going to use these at holiday time as gift bags for homemade gifts.
These are an excellent alternative to those flimsy plastic bags. The best part is the tare weight is sewn into the bag so you can alert your cashier of the weight and not be overcharge for your efforts to reduce plastic use. They are also very useful for small errand bags.
i love these bags! i no longer use any plastic bags at the store. i plan to order more for friends and family
Love. I use them for produce, knitting projects, anything I need to corral.
I think these bags are the best! I own several, and have given several away as gifts. I keep my produce in them when I place it in the fridge. It keeps the produce nice longer than the plastic bags. I just take them with me to Farmers Market every week. I own the large ones and the small ones. I can fit broccoli, aspargus and cauliflower in one big bag. They are also good for apples and oranges. I keep bell peppers, green onions, cilantro and things like that in the small bags. They do wrinkle when you wash them, and I don't iron, nor do I care about wrinkles.
The bags are cute and simple. I keep them with my reusable shopping bags in the trunk of my car so I don't forget them at the store. I do wash them between uses and they get a little wrinkled. I would never do the work of ironing them (I actually don't iron anything.)
Love 'em. What a wonderful idea. Especially nice for shopping at the co-op or health food store, where you scoop your dried beans and what-not from the big containers. One hint- if buying vanilla beans (or any other really expensive by-the-ounce good), take them out of the bag to be weighed at checkout. I let them weigh them in the bag at first, and almost got charged double! Lucky I realized the bag made a difference! Anyway- great produce bags, furthering the rage against a throwaway world!
I've had these bags for a couple of years and found I needed more to hold my produce at the store. I love passing by the plastic bags, knowing that I am not contributing to more plastic in landfills. I leave the tags on so people can see where I got them and never fail to take an opportunity to talk about this product. Keep up the good work, Susi Godfrey
I have been using cloth bags for years to carry my groceries, but I did not think about the produce bags. I read an article last moth mentioning them and had to get some. I have been using them for a few weeks now and love them. I highly recommend them!
I had been using reusable grocery bags for quite a while but still used those darned plastic produce bags in the store until I found these cotton bags on your website. Why didn't I think of that? They were inexpensive and exactly what I needed. Now every time I go to the grocery store with my bags, someone asks, "Where did you get those?" I bought some large and some small, and use them for everything from a couple heads of lettuce to a pound of nuts from the bulk bins.
Great product. Can fit a lot of produce in them. I love how the market gives $0.05 off each time I use one. After a few trisp the bag will pay for itself and no more plastic bags.
The bags are great.
These are basic but very useful, and I would definitely recommend them.
We love them! They work for many things, and the kids used cloth markers and colored the bags as gifts and to mark what should go in it.
LOVE LOVE LOVE these! I can even store my potatoes in them so they don't fall all over. High quality and very usable.
I love the muslin bags and take them to the produce store all the time. I purchased extras for gift wrapping this year and then the recipients can get a little 'green' themselves.
These are a great alternative to plastic bags and easy to wash.
Love these! Again, those insidious plastic bags are everywhere, and these are a great alternative. I've also found that produce stored in these actually seems to last longer than in plastic!
These are a little heavier than I would like produce bags to be (just because you pay per ounce), but I love that they're reusable. I get so many compliments on them at the grocery store and the farmer's market, and people always ask where I got them. Plus these were A LOT cheaper than some of the other reusable produce bags I've seen.
The bags are great. I decided to use them as party favor bags on my son's birthday party. The small ones can fit a lot of stuff.
I love these bags, they are durable and easy to take care of.
Love the bags! My guilt lessens after each use. :D The only disapointment being that a grocery in town "can't" deduct the weight. So they take out all of the veggies and weigh them individually. To fix this problem I'll just shop elsewhere.
Great Product... My Organic Muslin Bags arrived quickly and in perfect shape. They are a great value for the price paid. I have already recommended this product to my friends. Thanks, Rebecca Springfield, IL
love these bags! feel great not having to use a million plastic bags for bulk purchases.
These are great--the perfect size for a few pieces of fruit or vegetables. Is too small for lettuces, carrots, or other larger/longer produce. Fits 3-4 tomatoes/apples/pears/etc.
My New Year's resolution this year is to reduce my waste- especially plastic waste. I purchased a large organic cotton muslin bags for buying oats in bulk. They are sturdy, don't leak, and I haven't had any problems in the grocery check out line. In order to mark the bag with the product number from the bulk bins, I have found that a tag from a bread bag works just fine when it is attached to the drawstring.
I really like this product. The muslin bags are sturdy as well as roomy and I love not having to use the plastic produce bags at the grocery store anymore. I just stuff them in my reusable grocery bags so that they are with me when I go to the store.
ive only used them once but they seem to do the job!
These are great! I always feel so guilty always using all of the little plastic bags at the grocery stores. It is a great solution and I can just throw them in the wash to clean. Every time I use them I get someone asking me about them.
the small bags fit about 3 apples and secure nicely. They are soft, so the drawstring is easy to secure. I really enjoy using them and am very pleased with my choice.
I recently purchased the organic cotton produce bags to serve double duty. My neices and nephews received their Christmas gifts in them, and I told them that they were to pass them on to their moms & dads to use when shopping for fruits and vegetables. These bags are absolutely wonderful, I use mine all of the time when buying produce or nuts. And I like the fact that they are made from organic cotton.
These are great! Glad I have them; now I can really cut down on shopping waste. Thanks!
I love these bags. I have the small and the large and they're just so convenient. Plus, all the uber-eco-friendly people at my farmer's market and grocery stores are jealous.
I love the produce bags. They're easy to use and versatile and small enough to carry in my purse. I bought some for my sister for Christmas and I liked the idea so much I got some for myself. I was using them to bring things to the Christmas dinner and she admired mine. Little did she know she was about to open her very own! Great gift for people who have (nearly) everything. I look forward to using them at the farmers market.
We used the muslin bags for gift wrapping. As usual, we love your products! Thank you for the extra compacted nylon type bag! We will use these next year for our gift wrapping.
These are great bags! Not only do I use them for my produce, which they are great for, but I'm also able to use them as lunch bags with my Wrap-n-Mat sandwich wraps. These are wonderful bags!
My husband and I have been using the small cotton produce bags for going on 4 years now (and have never had to replace them because they are so durable, even after weekly washes). Whenever we check out at our grocery store or farmer's market, we are inevitably asked where to buy this great product. This year, as part of our "sustainability Christmas," we purchased sets of the produce bags for our (not so environmentally conscious) families- it's great to see our plastic-bag loving parents dutifully toting the produce bags to the grocery store now.
These are great to use for fruits and veggies. I bought the smaller and larger bags, so I can use them for anything! They haven't gotten dirty yet, but I expect they'll be easy to clean. So much better than those plastic bags!!
I like shopping with the muslin bags. I bought two sizes and both are great. The only thing is that you can not see what is inside once they are in the fridge and it is easier to forget the content then. I don't know if the produce rotts faster or not in them instead of plastic.
Haven't used it yet, but I have big plans for a stuffed chicken. The stuffable grocery sack gift is a great thing. Thanks!
I am on a mission to rid my family of plastic bags! My dad used a plastic bag to bring his lunch into work so I gave him the large cotton muslin one to use instead. He surprising has embraced it and uses it everyday! I also bought the snack sized cotton muslin one. It is really to small to hold more then two apples: I used it for little [non=food] items that I would normally stick in a plastic baggie - for example last week I went on a trip and I put hair bands, bobby pins, earrings and my rings in it. [I also bought the large cotton net bag. That one I actually used for fruit. I put about 5 apples in it and had no problems at all - I could have put in several more. I also agree with other comments the names are a bit confusing but this one is perfect bc you can see through it. I recommend it to anyone and everyone!]
Love these bags but they are definitely more ideal for the Farmer's Market than the supermarket, since everything has to be taken out and weighed.
I highly recommend purchasing a few of these Organic Cotton Mesh Produce/Snack bags for your next shopping trip. I absolutely love the ones I have and ordered more to use as gift bags for Christmas presents! I can honestly say that I did not find any cons with this product. I have both sizes and they each serve their own purpose. They are so easy to use; I place my produce into the bags and pull the draw string. Easy as that! I also like that they are machine washable. It felt so good to not be putting my produce into plastic bags. The store that I was shopping at gave me a discount for using them too which was an added bonus!
A GREAT purchase. I've gotten several batches over the last three years and now use them for all produce and bulk goods. They even hold flour well- the older ones are getting a little thin with repeated washes, so they make a little "puff" of flour but it's minimal and beats the thin and gross plastic in strength, reusablity and the positive impact on the environment any day. People at the market respond favorably (customers and help alike), and they even started carrying them for sale in the produce department.
I love these produce bags! Every time I go to the grocery store, at least 1 person asks where I got them. They're great for purchasing things in the bulk section, so you don't have to use their zip-lock baggies. This Christmas I'm using them to "wrap" small gifts too & spread the word about these great reusable bags. I know my family & friends will love them too. They're such a great idea!
Wonderful little produce bags! The small bag can hold up to five large pears or six apples, and I have filled the large bags with oranges and bunches of broccoli. The bags are nice and soft after washing with no noticeable shrinkage. A very ripe tomato, deciding to burst in my too packed car trunk on the way home from the grocery store, left no stain after cleaning. My shopping kit includes three cotton produce bags each, of both sizes, stuffed into my Envirosax set. No more plastic bags for me...ever!
Love 'em!! Interesting too, how the cotton produce bags [by design, and simply by their "newness" in this consumerist, disposable society we live in] create a necessary dialogue with checkout personnel in the grocery store. Two things I've found when using these lovely bags are: a) staff has not been trained to take the tare weight of the bag first OR b) scales simply aren't designed to get the tare weight of a product container I know that as more and more people get used to re-using items, store personnel will catch up!! It's also funny how doing something that they used to do in the "old days" like reusing bags, has suddenly become the most viable option again!
I used the bag for my stuffing in my Thanksgiving turkey on the recommendation of the Food Networks' Alton Brown. It worked like a charm! My stuffing came out nice and moist, and cleaning up the carcass for broth-making was easier. I ordered 4 bags, and I plan on using the other 3 for produce at the grocery store. Thanks.
I really love these bags. I am so glad there is an alternative to the flimsy plastic bags in the store and what a cool way to help our environment. The only thing I would change is to put the tare weight tag on the outside. I had the bags weighed at my store to verify the weight and they matched perfectly. It does usually take the cashier a little to figure out how to deduct the weight but they always get it done.
Produce bags don't get much better than these! They wash great too.
I really like these bags. I will agree with previous reviewers that "mesh" is not really an accurate description of the material. They are more like lightweight canvas. What most people think of as "mesh" (i.e., a fabric with see-through holes) are actually called "net bags" for this brand. I would recommend the "mesh" bags if you DON'T want to be able to see the contents of the bag and the "net" bags if you DO want to be able to see the contents of the bag. I also bought the ACME Stuff Sack to transport these bags. Love 'em. These produce bags in combination with my Envirosax have allowed me to go completely bag-free. Yea!
This is a nice bag to have when making trips to the store. I dedided to go for the smaller one since I don't buy much fruit. I figured I could at least put 5 apples in it. NO. It only holds a nice size onion and a few cloves of garlic. This is still a nice bag, but if your looking for a fruit bag, get the big'un
I felt so proud to use my cotton produce bag at the supermarket. I even took the little tags to give to anyone interested in purchasing them. I haven't used a produce bag since and it feels great. I'm using them for other things as well, like little totes for organizing things in my purse and baby bag. I think I'll try and see if my local grocery store would be interested in making them available for purchase!
This was just what I needed! My first grade son needs a daily snack for school and this snack bag is the right size and the drawstring is also very convenient. I especially like not having to label a new paper lunch bag everyday!
Very nice bags. Although I've found that they are not so light that you should ignore weighing them empty to give the cashier a tare weight. I found this out the other day when the cashier weighed my organic mushrooms, then out of curiosity she took them out of the bag and weighed them. It took 50 cents USD off the price! I was very surprised! I assumed they were light enough to not make enough of a difference.(Update: I just found that the tare weight is listed on a tag inside the bag as 0.1 pounds US) I noticed some people wrote some reviews about shrinkage problems after washing them. I haven't tried this yet. But you should note that the washing instructions are on a tag inside the bag. Which say cold wash only and drip dry. I'm betting a typical hot water wash for whites and then put in a hot dryer is what is making it shrink.
Love the bags. Been using them for a few weeks now. At my grocer, we weigh and price the produce before bringing it to the register, The price stickers stick well, but come off easily when I get home. I have been using re usable bags for my groceries for a while now, but hated using the plastic produce bags. Now I don'r have to.
Very nice, I can think of many uses for these bags.
I love the bags. I used some of them for my Community Supported Agriculture vegetables, and the others for craft supplies. They worked great for both and are the perfect size. They are called mesh produce bags, but are really not mesh at all. They don't have holes in them, so the name is a little misleading, but I like them better the way they are than the way they're named!
I absolutely love these bags!!! They are a perfect size for all your produce needs, they are strong and sturdy, and best of all they are machine washable. I always laugh when I see people fumbling to get those cheap plastic produce bags open. I just grab my items, toss them in the bag, and use the drawstring to pull it shut. Simple!
Love them!! Great for shopping for bulk items like oatmeal and flour and small ones for loose tea etc.
I bought the large and small cotton bags. I love them & feel so good that I am no longer throwing away all those plastic bags. You will need the large bags for items like a bundle of banassas or several ears of corn on the cob. The small bags are good for avocados, peppers, onions, garlic, etc. The drawstring on each bag is nice, keeps all veggies & fruit secure! Enjoy, Karen P.
Really good product. What can I say. It's handy, sturdy, & looks clean & it looks like something that will last for many years. I like the draw string. I also like that the tag has the Tare weight on it. I use it at a local health food store & of course they readily accept it. I haven't used it at a big chain supermarket yet, but probably will soon & see what they say. I prefer this over the net bags because certain odd-shaped items, such as bananas, can get stuck to it. I highly recommend the mesh bag, but of course either are good depending on what you use them for.
I am very satisfied with the products I have received including the water bottles and different kinds of bags. I have been very impressed with the low or no shipping costs and the speedy delivery. I have recommended your company to others. Thank you Sharon Greene
I purchased these bags as an alternative to the plastic bags in the produce department. They have worked great - even on the items that are a little wet from the misters!
I love these bags. I have both large and small. They open and close with ease. The only drawback I have found is that they don't keep lettuce from getting wilty.
I bought a bunch of these bags (small size) to use as goodie bags for my kid's birthday party. I love these bags! It would be helpful if the site had a better description of what could really fit in each one, because (despite the dimensions being listed) they were bigger than I expected.
Great! These hold a lot more than I thought they would. I just used them for the first time, at the store a few days ago and I was able to fit 2, very large, bell pepers into one fo the small bags. So far, I have no complaints.
I've been using the cotton bags for my kids lunches. I have two kids, a 2 year old and a 7 year old. Both of them use the bags for their lunches and their snacks. They aren't leak proof, being that they are cotton, so obviously I don't put anyting in them that can leak. I do use them daily for their sandwiches, chips, crackers, etc. I get great satisfaction out of using them knowing that I am helping to contribute to the health of our environment and our families. They are easy to clean, just drop them in the laundry. The items that I put in their lunches that may leak or smoosh (like fruit) I put in glass containers (found them at Target). Haven't had any complaints from either school about either product. Love them.
I love my canvas produce bags. We bring our large canvas bags for bagging all our groceries. But the small/big canvas produce bags stop you from using the plastic bags for your produce.I use them at the Farmer's Market and the grocery stores. I recently bought more for my sisters and nieces. I told them I am trying to save the world, one bag at a time, but the bags are winning, so I told them to let me know how many bags they need and I would buy for them. They loved them so much, they wanted the website to buy more. Yay! a few more people trying to save the world. Think you could make a medium size? Julie Love Sacramento, CA
We use these organic cotton produce bags as snack bags for our elementary age kids. The school recommends the snack be separate from their lunches so this is a perfect solution from using brown paper bags.
The bags are perfect. I wish grocery stores would sell them so that more people would use them. I wish I had them years ago. I've used too many plastic produce bags while looking for something like this. Thank you for giving consumers a chance to be responsible citizens.
Having a product that helps to eliminate the use of plastic bags is a most welcome and valued product. I bought enough of them so that all my cloth shopping bags have them in them and so there is no excuse to use the plastic. I also like that as a product that helps me walk the talk, other customers and the check-out clerks see them and thus the awareness that we can make a difference spreads. Bill Chisholm
We recently went on a bicycle tour and used the bags to carry our bulk nuts and fruit. They were AWESOME! i also use the big one to drain my yogurt. i'm sold and am purchasing more! Thank you for giving us a choice other than plastic and making sure those that make them get paid a fair wage and are made with organic cotton. yours are the only ones out there i can find that are also at a great price!
These little bags are perfect for nuts and snacks. I take them everywhere and save money by not stopping for expensive junk food.
I have been looking for these bags forever, and was so excited to see them on your website. I love them!!! good bye plastic bags!
Reusable Bags, thank you so much for the wonderful bags. My household has gone completely plastic bag free. We use your organic cotton bags for all our produce shopping at the grocery store and farmers market. We get compliments and praise for reusing our own bags everywhere we go.
The bags are exactly what we were looking for. Delivery was fast and at a very reasonable cost.
Great as usual, thanks very much! It is great that you can offer products in ORGANIC cotton!
I love the bags. I hated having to waste all those plastic bags when buying produce. Funny, I have confused several check-out clerks at the grocery store!! The only down side is that they could be a little more see-through.
I love the mesh bags. my husband hates having to use them.
Its a real nice size bag, well constructed. I have used it at the Farmer Market to keep my small items together. I have also used it in the grocery store - today for example one bag provided enough room for 4 oranges, 6 peaches, 4 plums and 4 large mushrooms. We use to recycle the produce plastic bags, BUT this is a more earth friendly way to shop. Thanks!
I love these bags! They wash up great -- and the large ones fit so much! (a huge head of lettuce/bunch of potatoes, celery stocks, apples etc) and the small size bags are great for peppers, tomatoes, green beans, herbs, lemons, limes, I could go on! I used a large one as a shopping bag on a recent trip to the grocery store and it fit a bag of hamburger buns, 2 pounds of chicken, and some apples! I was worried that the check-out staff would be annoyed and confused but I haven't had a single complaint and I go to several different grocery stores. A great investment!
Love, love, love! I am so glad I spent the money. I can finally reduce my guilt every time I buy a mountain of veggies. The small is really small...think a few heads of garlic, bulk foods, a couple of apples. The large is perfect for long or oversized vegetables....think leafy greens, broccoli, celery. Definitely buy the other kind as well. It will round out the sizes and you can see thru the other style. The mesh cotton ones are not see thru. Not a big deal if you leave the top uncinched, the checker can easily identify what is inside.
great bags. They get noticed at the supermarket. Others want to know where I got them. I also use them in other shops. I keep a stash in my car so I'm never without a bag.
I purchased 10 of the organic cotton mesh produce bags. I give them as "green" gifts putting your stainless steel water bottles, lunch carriers, vacuum seal hot/cold containers, sandwich wrappers, etc. inside them. I also use them to put wedding, Christmas, Birthday, etc. gifts inside, tying them up with cloth ribbons. They are a big hit. I used your colorful stringbags to place books, toys, etc. for baby showers and children's birthdays. I give out your website info with all the gifts. The partygoers also want the info so I write it down for them. It would be great if you included extra tags in the packaging so we could readily handout the website info. I get lots of questions as to where did I my stainless steel water bottle and lunch pail when I am out and about. I give your info out then also. Tnanks for the great products and speedy delivery.
Excellent bags - love them. I just loaded up at the farmers market this week and everyone was asking about them.
I really like the Organic Cotton Mesh Produce Bags. I no longer waste those plastic bags located in the produce department. I have even used the bag for loose sunflower seeds. It helps that the tare weight is listed inside the bag.
I really like these bags - the various sizes are great, and they are strong enough to hold heavy produce (even a watermelon!). I will say that "mesh" is not really an accurate description of the material. They are more like lightweight canvas.
i like these bags, i have them in two sizes. i use them for everything, not just produce.. and they wash up nicely.
Bags work great and I feel much better avoiding all of the plastic bags for my produce. They are attracting quite a bit of attention at the market so hopefully more people will begin using them.
Most of my produce purchases are just one or two of each item, since I am only shopping for two people. Once I started using reusable shopping bags, I started to feel guilty about the ridiculous amount of waste I was creating when I was coming home from the grocery store with five or more produce bags. I bought four small bags at first and I bought four more so I have a rotation when some are in the wash. The small bags will hold 1-3 bell peppers - for higher volume produce purchases, I would recommend the large bag.
These bags are great! The large size is deceiving, they look small but they really stretch. I can put a large head of green leaf lettuce in one without bruising it. I rinse them when needed in the sink and let them air dry so they don't shrink. Most of the stores where I shop give a 5 cent bag credit, so the weight is not an issue for me. The draw strings are a plus too, they make handy handles if you only buy a few things at the market! My kids use one for pool toys, they don't hold water.
These bags are great! I hated throwing away a pile of plastic produce bags after every trip to the grocery store. The bags are very sturdy. The only thing I'd change ... I'd buy the see-through ones for easier checkout.
After watching Garbage Island on YouTube I was determined to stop using plastic bags for my food shopping, so Reusablebags was the solution. I love how they look (hand made fair-trade in India) and they seem very well-constructed.
I have been using these for a while. Much better than the plastic bags. Easy to wash. I use them to store my greens in the fridge but don't try to keep them in there too long. They weren't designed for fridge storsgr. Highly recommended.
I love these. They are much bigger than I expected, and strong. They work great with produce and also with bulk. With bulk items, like rice, the plastic bags used to break. Now I don't have to worry about spilling my purchase ad I'm helping protect the environment at the same time.
Great product. The bags can be easly stowed away until use.
I wouldn't call these bags 'cotton mesh', more like cotton canvas....nonetheless, I love them! Much better than putting produce in plastic bags! I carry them with me anytime I am shopping.
Great bags made of durable material. I actually use the small bags to hold my reusable grocery totes, and use the big bags for my laundry when I travel.
these work out great for my produce. i weigh them before i put in the bags, and print the stickers, and place the stickers on a 3x10" piece of cardboard I use over and over again. they work great! I've washed them as well and they hold up great.
I'm so glad I ordered several of the Organic Cotton Mesh Produce Bags. I've used them for produce, and they're great for that... but I've also used them for a lot of other things. They're sturdy but light and quite versatile. Thanks!
Functional, light, strong, washable - great simple reusable cotton drawstring bags.
We have been using these bags for a few weeks now and like them quite a bit. They don't add much weight on the scale, they wash nicely in the machine, and they are plenty sturdy for frequent use. My one problem with the bags is the sizing. The small is a nice size-- large enough for two big mangos, for instance-- but not large enough for, e.g., a half dozen pears. The medium, on the other hand, is huge. I didn't try, but I bet I could put two cantaloupes in one, so they are too big for a half dozen pears. A size between the small and medium would be nice. All in all, I like these bags quite a bit. (Note, you do have to open them up to see what is inside. This isn't a problem for me, but some cashers may not like it.)
I love my organic cotton mesh produce bags. I use them for dry goods (raisins, oats, baking soda, etc.) as well as produce. The experience of storing my food in cotton, as opposed to plastic, is a great sensory pleasure. Oh happy day, when I will be able to banish plastic bags altogether!
I love these bags - I got 4 of the large ones. I've had them for about a month and they are VERY useful -- I've used them for cauliflower, leeks, left over parts for a stove we installed at my uncle's, clothing hooks from Lowe's. They're about the size of the normal plastic shopping bags, so anything going into those, you can put into these, and feel tons better. These also fold up very flat into my purse. I also got a string cotton bag and I use that for bigger, odd-shaped items. I'm putting together another order. I love that I never forget my reusable bags anymore. Fabulous!
In love with them... hated using plastic bags and hated leaving them out on the cart. I use them for all fruits and vegs I buy. Worth it!
The large bags are great we use them for produce from the market and they are also great to use to throw a few snacks in for a car trip!
This is my second purchase of these bags. I use them every time I go to the grocery store to eliminate the need for plastic produce bags. The small ones are quite small, they only fit about 5 medium apples. The large ones are great though, for whole heads of broccoli, a dozen potatoes, etc. They shrink when you wash them, so best to buy the large size. In the store, checkers usually don't mind them, and if you put a piece of fruit at the top with the bar code sticker showing, it makes it easier for them. On paying for the extra weight of the bag, the tare weight of each bag is printed inside on the label, so you can show it to the checker, but most checkers in large supermarket chains don't know how to subtract the tare weight on their scales or registers. Yesterday, at Loblaws in Toronto, the checker gave me a reusable bag discount for each produce bag I used, which usually only goes for each carrying bag. She was interested in the product, so I gave her one of the "reusabelebags.com" tags I had just cut off the produce bag.
I'm so glad to have an alternative to plastic produce bags and these fit the bill. They hold a great deal and wash up nicely. I bought four and fill three in the store while shopping, then when weighing the produce from one bag, I transfer to the empty bag, and so on. It works out great!
These are great! I use them not only for produce, but for bulk items (grains, nuts, etc) from my local health food store. I highly recommend them.
I love these bags. We can use them at the grocery store and then wash them if they get gunky or wet and we don't have to worry about bacteria build up. They have saved so many plastic bags for us! The are also great for bringing to the farmer's market. I was worried about their weight, but they are very light and don't add anything to the price. We have bought these as gifts for friends and they are great. Just be aware that they will shrink in the wash.
Very nice. Heavier duty than I imagined. Plus, I don't have all those plastic produce bags collecting in my pantry- or storing rotting food in the crisper.
I bought 20 organic cotton mesh produce bags; 10 large, 10 small, and split them with my mom. We LOVE them! The large ones are the size of a normal plastic produce bag, the small ones are great for little things like fresh herbs or nuts or green beans, etc. These bags are super sturdy and machine washable. I highly recommend them!
I love them! I was feeling a bit ridiculous putting all my plastic produce bags into my reusable grocery bags. They have been the answer to my problem. Every time I am at the grocery store people admire them and ask me where I got them. So, Thanks.
Wow! These are great! I've been using them as bags for my bulk bin products more than for produce, but they've also done really well as produce bags. My only complaint is that I wish they closed more tightly (so rice grains wouldn't leak out the top), but I can easily work around that.
I love the organic cotton mesh produce bags. I'm not using the plastic produce bags in the store anymore and even though you can recylce them, they can still end up in our lakes and oceans. The cotton produce bags wash well and keep produce fresh. The only problem I've had is that the check out clerks are confused by them. At first, I put produce in the bags like I did before, but they took it out, either because they didn't wan't to charge me for the weight of the bag or that they couldn't see what was in there. Now, I put produce in my cart, have them weigh it, and put it in the bags with varying results. Sometimes, I get my apples, onion and peppers all in the same bag. I'll keep trying and the more of us using reusable bags, the more people will know what to do with us!
Great product No dramam with the ordering process. Order was here within a week. Perfect.
i love the produce bags. i can wash them if they are dirty and i use them every time. the only problem is remembering them. i put them in my car so i don't forget- and even if i do, i walk into the store right away i walk back out to get them
I love the cotton mesh produce bags! I use the large ones for bulk cereals and flours and the smaller ones for nuts and chocolate chips. They have their weight on them so the checkers know how much to deduct from the weight. They are so easy. You'll love them!
We really like the produce bags that we got. They are great because we don't like to use plastic bags.
I use these bags to buy fruit every week at the grocery store and farmer's market and I love them. I never had a use for the plastic produce bags that I would have to use before, so they seemed like such a waste. These bags solved that problem!
I love the cotton mesh produce bags and take them with me where ever I go. They are a big hit at the grocery store and local farmer's market. They are a good companion to the recycled PET grocery bags. Both bags have generated multiple converstions regarding reusable bags and hopefully have led others to your website.
The cotton mesh produce bags have worked wonderfully! We keep them in our reusable shopping bags for when we go shopping. The bags are a strong cotton with a draw-string top that keeps even small produce items secure. They have even kept the produce fresher for longer! Thanks!
these bags are wonderful..I recommend them to everyone.. very affordable, holds a ton of items and of course so much better then those plastic produce bags. You wont be disappointed!!
These bags have made my life better! We buy fruit in large quantities, and the bags hold everything. You never have to worry about them breaking, and they have drawstring tops, so you never have to tie the bag or look for a fastener. Also, produce definitely stays fresh longer when stored in the bags. Plus, they are pretty!
I especially like the mesh bags as they make checkout a little easier.
Love the products you offer and I always recommend your website to friends!
I'm very happy with my order of cotton produce bags. They were shipped very quickly as well, which I appreciate.
These bags are wonderful! I love them. I got both the large and the small sizes. They're great...what else can I say?!? Also, the cashiers in the stores I have used them in actually take the produce out of the bag so the weight is accurate. It's wonderful that they are becoming increasingly savvy about working with those of us who are trying to reduce plastic bags!
I love these bags! I have had the large ones for a while, and they are great for using at the grocery store, and also for storing produce at home. They are especially good for lettuce (if they are kept moist), and mushrooms. I just ordered the small size, and I had intended to use them for produce as well, but I discovered that they are great for storing my daughter's toys! She is 2.5, and has a lot of "sets" of toys, like a wooden pizza with toppings, and dolls with several outfits. These are great for keeping all of those items together, and the fact that they have a drawstring closure makes them easy to open, but at the same time, they can close so that stuff doesn't spill out. I ended up using all 6 of the bags I ordered for this purpose, and will probably order more for use with produce!
I use these when I go to the grocery store instead of coming home whith many more plastic bags. My store also deducts the weight of the bag for me when weighing the produce. Win win situation
I love these bags! They're handy to keep around the house, and they're great to keep produce in between trips! I use mine for produce, as well as bulk nuts, grains, etc. They're sturdy, and wash well!
Organic Cotton Mesh Bags: Awesome! I use them for produce, and even when buying bulk foods. There's no excuse to use plastic now, and I love it!!
I really like the mesh produce bags. The sizing is adequate and the mesh makes it easy to see the numbers on the items. I prefer these over the solid canvas bags.
The bags are great. They are sturdy and well-made. They are so much better than wasting all of those plastic produce bags!
These bags work great for produce, my kids love using them for their things too.
Wow! I have been bringing my own grocery bags for years now, but not produce bags until last month. Usually, I would not use any bag at all, which made for an upset cashier sorting all of the single apples, etc. out by hand. These mesh bags are so cute and light. The drawstring works well. I bought a few of several different bags so I could try each type out. The mesh ones are by far the easiest for the cashier to read the sku right thru the bag.
I love these!! I ordered one for my bulk purchases, then had to come back and order 4 more because they are so handy! Very quick delivery & excellent customer service. Can't rave enough about this site!!
these are much better then those flimsy plastic bags they offer at the produce section at the grocery store, not to mention you cant even really reuse those plastic bags for anything. I love the produce bags they are easy and small.
I loved the idea of these so I bought some and they ended up working out great!
I love my new reusable produce bags. It's a good feeling to know that I've found another way to be green and save on the use of plastic bags. And it's fun explaining what they are to the checkout person at the grocery store. Most of them have asked where I got them and expressed interest in purchasing for themselves.
A great way to cut down on the plastic vegetable and fruit bags! I feel better using all of your great products and will continue to buy and try new things from your website!
We love these bags! Besides using them at the grocery store, I am using them in lieu of gift wrapping to give gifts. People love when I explain to them the many uses for these bags. Thanks!
I love the mesh bags, and the cloth veggie bags. I keep some in my purse and in my truck at all times. I give them as gifts to my friends to help encourage them to be more earth friendly.
I can't recommend these highly enough. It is wonderful to not have to use plastic bags ever when buying produce. Make sure you have at least 4. You'll want more later anyway!
I have enjoyed these bags, which I use every week grocery shopping for my produce. One unexpected side benefit: after storing herbs in the fridge for a week, I no longer have to pitch out a soggy, disgusting mess of leftovers. In these breathable bags, items dry, making the mess much more bearable! Construction is excellent. Now, I just need to remember to bring them to the farmers market when I go...
These cotton bags are great! I especially love the drawstring closure - much easier to use than those twist-ties you need with the grocery store plastic bags! Perfect for all of my produce - I am thrilled with this purchase! Thank you!
The bags are great and work wonderfully for produce!! I am in love. I get strange looks from the grocery store staff but that's ok. :-)
The bags are great! I used them on my last shopping trip and was able to not use the plastic produce bags on this trip. I also used them on a recent trip to Disneyland to keep all of our fruit in, they worked great, Thanks!
I've only had a chance to use the bags once, but I liked them. They were just the right size for 2 onions or 3 parsnips. They were easy for the checker to look into to see the contents and then weigh and ring them up. I bought 6, sent three to my daughter. after more use, I anticipate ordering more for both of us.
We use the cotton mesh produce bags several times weekly and love them. They are sturdy and easy to clean. One of the best investments we've ever made.
I love using the Organic Cotton Mesh Produce Bags. I buy at least 3 produce items each week and when I use the reusable bags instead of plactic bags, I really feel like I am helping Mother Earth.
Making the transition to reusable grocery bags was very easy - but none of the stores looked at the plastic produce bag. I was so excited to find you had a solution - and it's a great one. The bags are small and lightweight - so they don't add to the cost of your produce. If you get them dirty, they are easy to wash, and the people at my grocery store all asked where I had gotten them - I of course referred them to reusablebags.com!!
Everybody should have one! Let's stop using those horrible plastic bags and protect our environment!
I love your products! I bought cloth grocery bags years ago in Ireland when the country decided to dump plastic, or at least charge for plastic bags. I wish the US would do the same. However, the produce bags you stock are great, I have reached the point of being emotionally unable to put anything in plastic, and my 21 year old daughter is even more avid to avoid plastic. Advertise more so more people learn about your company.
I love that I am actually able to fold them back into the tiny little pocket they came in! They work great.
I use these in my kitchen to store onions and potatoes. They work great because they keep them dry and they cinch shut. I also like them because the onion skins don't fall out like they do in the mesh bags from the store. I really like them.
We use these bags for wine or other items that the plastic green produce bags are not good for. I'm getting the hang of reusing all my grocery gear and really enjoy the attention it brings at the checkout line. Thanks!
The mesh bags are good for storing produce in the refrigerator, but I prefer the net bags for use at the grocery store. The size difference between the small and large bags is minimal, so in retrospect, I would order the larger bags.
I love my organic cotton mesh produce bags. I've used them for a few years, and was happy to find the larger sized bags to use when buying/storing lettuce, cabbage, and other large produce. I encourage everyone to carry them into the stores and use them. If a retailer declines...don't shop there! Thanks again for a great product.
I love the cotton bags, and they complement the larger reusable bags well. I use them instead of plastic bags for smaller purchases and as produce bags. They work better than I could have imagined, and I'm kicking myself for not buying them sooner!
It is a lot larger than I expected it to be. I like the closable top, no fruits or vegetables can escape in transport home. I'm happy with my purchase.
Awesome bags. Well worth the price! i liked the fact they are washable and sturdy.
This bag is perfect for holding the produce and reducing or eliminating our need for the little plastic bags at the store. I only wish I had gotten a larger bag.
I bought these bags for my son's preschool class so they wouldn't have to waste paper bags for a weekly project that lasts for months and involves filling the bags with household items starting with a certain letter each week. The bags seem to be working out prefectly, and I am very happy to have saved some trees (I hope!).
I love all the green choices Reusable Bags has for day-to-day living. The organic cotton produce bags work great and they gets lots of attention at the grocery store. I
I use these bags to carry bulk cereal, fruits, and vegetables back from the market. They are easy to use, very sturdy, and a great alternative to plastic produce bags!
The strength of these bags are great! The large one holds quite a lot. Good value for the money.
The bags are great! Very durable and the drawstring at the top is great for holding my produce while I'm shopping.
These little bags are perfect for fruits and veggies. So much better than accumulating all those little plastic bags from the grocer. Haven't had to clean my bags yet but they look like they'll be fine in the washer. I only ordered 2 but I definitely will be getting more!!
These are great little bags! The fabric is a little thicker than it looks in the picture. (you can't really see through it) The cotton was a little stiff at first, but broke in easily. The drawstring stays tight, once pulled.
these are great bags! strong enough to hold my daughter's wooden blocks, but also thin enough for produce. for being organic bags too, the price is very reasonable!
I love these bags- they are very versitile! I even use them for a quick gym bag (I hate the big duffle bags!) I love that they have 2 sets of handles for carrying or over-the-shoulder. LOVE THESE BAGS!
ooopss.. talking about wrong bags... THese produce bags are good too! You can fit a lot of stuff in the large one~
The bags are great for produce. The bags hold a lot. Only problem was at checkout. The clerk did not know what the bags were for. I had to explain that I used my own bags instead of the plastic produce bags!!
I am thrilled with my new produce bags. They are sturdy and clean easily. Best of all, no waste! I gave some as gifts and kept the rest. The clerks at the check out at my local co-op loved them and were asking me where I got such cool bags. Awesome product.
The quality is awesome. I definately dump out my produce before weighing as they are thick, but they are also versitle. I used one as a lunch sack just the other day.
I used these to wrap Christmas presents in. It worked great - only one larger gift that would not fit. I made gift tags from modeling dough and wrote the name on it. For the kids, I added some fabric paint with a note for them to paint their bag and use it for their toys.
Really great product! Sturdy and washes well!!! Should've bought more!!
I bought a couple of these bags on a whim after reading some of the reviews and thought they would go well with the other bags I had purchased. I didn't realize how huge the large produce bag was! I'm pleasantly surprised, and it will definitely be able to hold whatever fruits and veggies I pick up in a trip to the grocery store. Definitely a great value!
i use these at the store all the time..i love that im saving plastic bags from just being thrown into the garbage
I like the sturdiness of the bags - and the checkers at the grocery store were very excited about them
For some reason, produce seems to be the last thing people think of for reusable bags. I love these fabric ones. Easy to wash, easy to carry to the farmers markets.
I love these bags. Very practical and good quality. I will definitely buy more in the future.
These bags are great. I love not having to use plastic produce bags anymore. I've gotten a few strange looks but the folks at my grocery store are used to it now. They have even started selling their own reusable grocery bags too.
Wonderful product! No more messing with nasty plastic bags in the produce section. Shopping bags are rather common; however, these little gems serve just as great a purpose.
These are great! I use the large ones for lettuce, celery, apples, onions and the like, and the small ones are perfect for herbs, mushrooms, limes and so on. I love not bringing home mountains of plastic bags. We'd already been bringing our own shopping totes, so for us this was the next step in reducing our use of plastic bags.
I bought several of these bags and gave them as gifts. They were a big hit with everyone, including myself! They are light and easy to use.
I received the reuseable procude bags in fantastic time! They are incredibly (sp?) well made and I am thrilled to be able to do away with those silly thin plastic bags they give you at the grocery store. And to avoid the change in weight, I just take the produce out of the bag when I pay for it (I always self-checkout)... Will definitely buy more if I need them, and will recommend to everyone! Thanks for a high quality product!
I always feel great at the checkout counter when I use your cotton mesh produce bags. It's the perfect guilt-free solution when shopping. The bags last forever, and many people have coveted them and asked me where I got them.
These are fantastic! My only complaint is that it's hard to see the produce label through the bag. But I got over that as soon as the lady checking me out at the store was so thrilled to see me using these bags.
I am ashamed to admit that I often forget to take these bags with me when I go to the store. I need to start stashing them in the car. However, I am planning to purchase more of them to use as gift bags this holiday season. I'll embellish them somehow - with a ribbon or stamp - and they'll be less expensive then patterned reusable gift bags. Plus they may actually be reused for produce! They work great for produce - and for gifts, too, I'm sure.
I love these bags for produce at the stores. If they get dirty you just throw in the wash. The checkers especially have commented on how great they think they are. A lot of people have reusable grocery bags but no one has the produce ones. I bought some as a gift along with the Earthtotes because I love them so much. I feel great everytime I use them and I know it's making an impression on my children also. They're very economical and make a great addition to your reusable shopping tote.
The Produce bags are fabulous. They make it easy to buy lettuce, kale, and other bunched vegetables. You can feel the difference immediately in the amount of plastic bags you are saving. Make sure to take your veggies out of the bag before keeping in the refridgerator. The kale wilted a bit. Otherwise they are great.
I am proud to be a earth friendly consumer. I have purchased some of your produce bags and have had almost every cashier ask me where I found them!! I love knowing that everytime I use them I am creating less waste in the land fills and leading by example. My two little girls fight over who gets to put our rpoduce in the bags!! Thank you for making it easier for those of us that care about our impact on the earth!! I will for ever be a faithfull customer!! Demerie Bennion Layton, Utah
When I was placing my order, I almost didn't get the produce bags, thinking I didn't need them.... that my produce would just go in the string or tote bags I was buying. I forgot about those nasty rolls of plastic bags in the produce dept. Now it is so nice to have my fruits & veggies breathing in cotton, instead of smothering in plastic! They even taste better! So don't forget the produce bags!
I love these bags! Every time I take them to the grocery store or the farmers market, I get questions about them - namely, "where'd you get those?". I love bringing home produce or bulk food in these and transferring them to my own reusable storage containers. I love that I can wash them and use them endlessly, and no worries about harm to the planet or even landfill fodder. Even when they can no longer be used, because they are cloth, they will gently biodegrade. These bags are wonderful!
I love these bags for getting fruits and veggies from the grocery store. I only have the large ones and would suggest getting those for all uses. I do ask the cashier to take them out of the bag for check out so I won't get charged more. The never have a problem with it. I plan on giving these to everyone for Christmas this year!
The cotton mesh bags are the perfect accompaniment to the totes. I store mine in the tote so they are always handy. When they need washing out I dry them in the drying chamber above my dryer. I also purchased the set as christmas gifts this year (to go along with the totes). My husband is proud of me for using your products.
I really love the bags--they are roomy, very strong and well made. I use them ALL of the time! Thank you for such a great alternative to PLASTIC!
These are great. I bought like 6 of them and they are large enough to handle my produce needs. You definitely cannot see through the bags, that is the only problem...you have to open the bag to see what's in it. They seem like very sturdy bags.
These are great, I bought them for my mom b/c she hates wasting plastic at the grocery store.
I LOVE my new produce (small-size) reusable cloth bags. Many other shoppers stop me in the store asking me where I got them and how I like using them. These bags are perfect for produce and bulk items such as nuts, seeds and pasta or rice. The bags are very sturdy and easy to use. When soiled, I simply handwash them in cold water and hang up to dry..they dry very quickly. Depending on the store, most checkers are okay with cloth produce bags, especially whole food or organic food stores. Checkers in the regular supermarkets can be a bit annoyed they have to open the bags to see what's inside or to scan one item. Nonetheless, I will continue using these bags. NO MORE PLASTIC BAGS FOR ME! Eda Greene
Love them! I have a few large and a few small, and I've used them for way more than just produce and bulk grains. I have one as a lunch bag, one for my gym shoes, and I keep one in my work bag all the time. These bags have cut down on my plastic bag use at the grocery store and beyond.
I love these reusable produce bags! They're great for produce, as lunch bags and even for travel! Another great use for these is ripening produce. I put my hard-as-rocks fresh avocados in these bags, set them on the table and in 2days or less, perfectly ripened avocados! Amazing!
I was thrilled to find these bags. My teenagers were loosing lunchboxes frequently. With these, they can stuff them in a pocket or backpack no problem. They hold just the right amount of food. I love these!
Awesome! From store to fridge it keeps veggies and fruit fresh.
I love these bags!!! They are perfect. I plan to buy more of them.
Fantastic bags! I already have some of the smaller sized bags and love them so much, I opted to get a few of the large sized ones. These are quite roomy while the small will hold about 4-5 apples/oranges/etc, you could probably get a good twice that amount in the large size. Great for potatoes, sweet potatoes and onions!
these are great! i got a few of the small ones and a couple big ones - the big ones fit things like kale and lettuce and bunches of carrots or apples. the little ones are great for bulk or smaller veggies/fruits.
My husband was concerned about the extra weight added to the price at checkout, so I wanted to point out to all that the tare weights are printed on the label inside the bag. You can point this out to the checkers when they are looking in the bag to get the produce product code. They can enter the tare weight on the scale to account for the extra bag weight. Don't forget to ask if the store offers a discount for bringing your own bag!
I love these. I bought a lot because of the positive reviews and I'm glad I did. I wish I had bought more of the larger size, though, because they are better for carrying produce and not much heavier than the smaller bags. I haven't washed them yet, so I'm wondering how they hold up.
The bags are great, easier to use than plastic. I love them!
The produce bags are great. Good sizes, solid construction. Now if only I could get my husband to use them!
wonderful. I am very happy with the usefulness and quality of this product.
They do exactly what they're supposed to do. The large bags are pretty huge.
I love how I can throw my reusable bag in the washer...and then reuse it...and then reuse it...
I've had my recycled cotton grocery totes for about 2 weeks and I absolutely love them! They are very sturdy- I know I've gone over the max weight for them a few times, and so easy to carry over my shoulder. They hold so much that I've used only 7 to do my major trip to the grocery store for my family of 5. I've taken to carrying a bag with me everywhere. These are such a wonderful investment. I feel good every time I say no to plastic bags. It's such an easy way to do my part in helping the environment. I also bought a few produce bags and am very pleased, although the cashiers are often puzzled as to how to handle the produce inside. You have a wonderful product and I plan to give your bags as gifts this Christmas. Thank you!
These bags are great for the grocery store and the farmer's market, and even for other errands such as the drugstore. They are well-constructed, appropriately sized, and lightweight. It feels great not to use the thin plastic produce bags anymore!
These little produce bag are the best! They hold a lot of produce and they actually keep the foods fresher in the fridge! I have had grapes for 2 weeks now in this bag and they are still like new! Plus wait till people all look at you because you are NOT using the cruddy little plastic produce bags, that usually tear open before you even fill the bag! You will get noticed that for sure, people will ask you where you bought them. I hope everyone will switch to using cotton for their shopping, not just the produce bags but also give the stringbags and the canvas totes a try. You will be amazed at how much these bags will hold! For the sake of mother Earth...please switch to cotton bags! Plastic is NOT COOL anymore!
I love these bags, they are very friendly to the market and the supermarket. I've even used them as lunch bags!
I love the cotton mesh produce bags, I bought some in both sizes and they are just what I needed. I feel good about not using the plastic bags anymore!
Great bags, I wish I could afford many more. Would like to replace all plastic with different materials and never have to use a plastic bag in the store. Hope more eco-materials will be on the way. Thank you.
The mesh bags are roomie enough (I bought large) for any type of produce. They are well made and keep my food fresh longer then a plastic bag. I have only gotten positive feedback from other shoppers/workers at the grocery. I have purchased more to give as gifts to family. This is truly the gift that keeps on giving...
Another great product! My veggies and fruits easily fit into these wonderful bags. The bag even holds up when I use it for heavy items like potatoes! I'm so glad I don't have to use those plastic produce bags in the store now.
I really like the bags. They're sturdy and hold up well in the wash, just make sure to hang dry them or they get wrinkly. The only downside is that grocery stores don't exactly make it easy to compensate for the added weight, although I have found that the bulk section of my grocery store will tare the bag first then let me fill it with rice or beans and then bring it back to be weighed. They're great for farmers markets! It makes me happy to not have to throw away a thing when I come home from my local market.
These bags are great and so easy to use! However, they continue to confuse the checkers at the grocery store. Ha!
These are the best! I take them with me to the grocery and the local farmers market every week! The only problem... I need more! :) They hold a decent amount, and clean up well if your son squishes a tomato inside!! I just tossed it in the washer and hung to dry- looks good as new! I'd highly recommend!!
These, i love and use fir everything, not just produce. They are very light weight, and comfortable to take around. I bought my mom a couple, who says its an inconvenience to take to the store, remembering to bring them, etc... So i bought one for every car she has, and now has no excuse. If shes using them and loves them, everyone can and should!! great bags!
These cotton mesh produce bags are well made, affordable and great for fruits, veggies and loose bulk items. They wash up nice too. I always get people asking me where I got them from in the check out line. A must have for the green shopper!
These bags work well. They might add a fraction of an ounce more than a plastic bag, but that's not a big deal. The grocery store I go to gives a 5 cent refund for each bag you bring, so the bags at least break even and might even save me a few cents. The bags hold produce, have a nice drawstring and have held up in the wash, so they have done all I need them to do.
These bags are really roomy and hold a lot of apple, peaches, whatever. The drawstring is very durable and works easily. Only downside is that the check out clerk needs to open them to access the produce code for the fruit or vegetable. Very little negative compared with eliminating those wasteful plastic bags that wind up trashing our Earth.
The organic cotton mesh produce bags are wonderful. They do seem to shrink a bit when dried and washed, so the small size becomes rather small afterwards. I'd suggest just sticking to the larger 17"x13" size.
These are excellent. I have some in both large and small sizes. The small size is pretty small, and works better for bulk grains or beans than for produce. For fruits and veggies, I recommend the large bag, which accomodates a couple pounds of carrots, a bunch of collards, or a head of lettuce with no problem. I haven't washed these bags yet, so I can't say how they hold up over time, but so far they have been really useful.
The produce bags I ordered are exactly what I expected. They are the right size and they are well constructed, that is, they seem like they will hold up for some time. I am excited that I can go to the grocery store and have even less use for their plastic bags!
I love these little bags. It makes me feel good every time I use them! The people at the register are a little confused to have to look inside in order to know what they're ringing up...but they have learned that it's really no big deal to peak inside. I think they are being educated too!. The bags are easy to use and if they ever need cleaning, they are really easy to wash. I'm am very pleased with the product and feel so much better about using them than plastic!!
The large bags can fit a lot of produce or bulk items. I get asked about these bags all the time!
These bags are great. The small ones fit 4 large apples (even after I accidentally dried them in the dryer). The drawstring close makes it easy for the checkout clerk to peak inside and close them back up quickly. I haven't used them in the refrigerator yet, but it's great to finally reduce the amount of plastic produce bags I use!
I like these bags. The checkout has to open the bags to see what is in the bags but I think well worth is to not have to bring home a ton of plastic bags.
These bags are great! They definitely add 3-5 days to the shelf life of my fruits and veggies. I just bought a few to include with wedding gifts for a bunch of my friends. Excellent!
This is our second order of reusable bags. We found we are using more and more produce and we don't want to make use of anything but your bags. And we keep getting comments from the store clerks about what great bags they are.
I love these bags. I use them when buying produce and I also store veggies in them to help keep them nice and crisp!
I love the bags. A little pricey I would of bought more if they were less. I do love them though.Good quality.
Like the bags alot. I only ordered the small size and was disappointed that I couldn't fit enough fruit in it. I would recommend only two small and ordering more larger sizes.
I really like these. This takes my shopping to a whole new eco-level! The smaller ones are large enough for about 3 apples, so I would recommend at least one large one, too.
we just received our 2nd order of the large produce bags. We order from reusablebags.com often, and we are always thrilled with the products and the customer service. In fact, we accidentally ordered the wrong product -- reusablebags.com quickly responded and fixed our error. The bags are great, but please note that they do significantly shrink. I would go for the large over the small if you are buying over 4 to 5 apples, for example. Great product, great service, thank you!
The produce bags are great. They wash up nicely and are very durable. I feel great not bringing home a bunch of plastic produce bags. I have received a few odd looks @ the market checkout which is fine ~ Hopefully BYOB will catch on soon.
I like to take these bags to the pet store for carrying cans of dog food. They can easily support many cans without fear of breaking, and since they take up little space when empty, I can just stuff one into my purse on the way into the store. Very convenient.
My review describes the string bags, not the cotton mesh bags!
I loved the new produce bag. They are the perfect size for a small family. Theresa Alexandria VA
These bags are really wonderful! They are great when going to the Farmer's Market. Doesn't work well with packing green beans, though. I use the reusable produce bags for the green beans.
I actually ordered this product for a family member of mine, who had an upcoming birthday. Along with these two bags(the cotton mesh produce bags), I ordered another bag that was going to be used for her groceries that was on another website and that she specifically requested. Well I placed both orders the night before I went away and when I came back your package was already there, while the other package I was waiting for took another whole WEEK! So thank you for your speediness and thank you for your product! I definitely will be looking at other items on this website!
These bags are great! They soak up all the excess water on the leafy vegetables, so they're pretty dry by the time you get home.
We love your bags. They are just the perfect size for the large amounts of produce we buy. What's more they are very ecologically friendly which we appreciate. In fact, many comments have been made at the grocery store we shop at - "Where did you get those?" / "They are so good for the environment."
I am thoroughly delighted with your product. It is extremely satisfying to use my reusable bags rather than plastic knowing that I'm helping, not hurting, the planet. They are durable and sturdy and I love them! I will be recommending them to everyone I know! Sincerely, Suzanne Czerwinski [email protected]
I highly recommend the resusable cotton mesh produce bags. I purchased both the large and small bags and have used both with much success! They are extremely sturdy and lightweight. I'm so happy not to be using plastic bags!
Biobags are answering a need- I love the compostable qualities, and they are so soft. I'm delighted with the product.
The bag are a little smaller than I thought but work great.
The Cotton Mesh Produce Bags were a great purchase! I'm not finding slick, ruined produce 2 days after going to the grocery store. The bags machine wash well and hang to dry in no time.
When I was at the Farmer's market last weekend, I received so many inquiries about these bags! The large is really great for bulk items, and it eliminates the farmers having to give me their items in plastic. The looks on their faces were one of definite but pleasant surprise. I highly recommend these, in fact, at my local grocer, they take my produce out of the bag, weigh it, then put it back in. It's fantastic!
I just love the bags! I have been trying to swear off plastic bags but it was so hard with the big bulky canvas bags I was trying to use. These bags are so nice- they are strong and very compact to carry. I highly recommend them to everyone. The bags are easy to open up and to put back into the compact state. I have had several checkout cashiers and other shoppers comment on them and I give them this site address. You need this bag!
Love our bags!! They fit so much more than what they look like they can. We were grocery shopping and the checkout clerk said ok I think that one's full, but I was able to stick quite a few more items in it. I love how I don't have a 'Home Alone' moment when I'm carrying the bags to the car. They are so strong. I love the mini one that I can stick in my purse for all of those small quick purchases. When I get home and put my groceries away I feel 'lighter' when I'm finished because I don't have a wad of plastic bags to shove under the sink.
I love these bags! Sturdy, but lightweight. Convenient tag to put sticker on when weighing in the store. Easy to bring to the farmer's market, as they are compact.
These bags are great. Light weight and durable feeling with an easy to use drawstring. Plus the veggies/fruit store well in them too.
First off I must say how good it feels to not have all of those plastic bags around. These bags are and have been put to great use. They are sturdy, reliable and extremely convenient. The drawstring makes them not only easy to close but easy to carry. And the sheer nature of the material used to make them provides a far more durable product than plastic could ever hope to be. Thank you for everything.
I purchased two small and one of the cotton produce bags and they are wonderful. They are large enough to hold what I need. Everytime I use them people are staring and the clerks smile. I hope more people catch on soon.
Such a good idea! I always hated those long, sticky plastic produce bags, and now I don't have to use them. I'm impressed with the light-weight construction and varied sizes of these bags. And the lady at the check-out didn't even look twice, so it's easy.
I use the small and large produce bags all the time, particularly now that it's summer. When people see me with them, they ask about them, and I tell them how environmentally sound they are, and easy to use and reuse and reuse some more. I'm now buying more to give as gifts.
We have used them for our bulk purchases of flours, grains and seeds and are so happy with the alternative to plastic bags. Looking forward to many years of use!
I love these bags--very handy, incredibly portable, good for carrying lunches or buying produce at the farmer's market.
I have a few dozen of these and keep them with several of your canvas grocery bags in the car. That way they are always on hand when we run into the grocery store. Also, my husband keeps several at work during the summer for when he buys fresh produce at the farmer's market in downtown Chicago. Since we buy fresh produce several times per week, we are pleased to keep multitudes of plastic produce bags out of circulation. These are an excellent product. Thanks and please consider making much larger ones as we buy a dozen apples or oranges at a time for our large family. We can't fit all of the green beans we need into one bag either. The bags are way too small for the produce needs of a large family.
Your reusable cotton mesh produce bags are the best! They amply hold everything from plump ears of locally grown corn to delicate items like organic Italian parsley. And they go in the washer and dryer with no problem. Not only do I use them at the grocery store, they are great to take to the farmer's market each week. I get asked all the time about where I got these bags so I tell people about this site and encourage them to follow in my footsteps. Plastic bags blow!
I just love my produce bags! They are perfect for hugging my veggies.
Bags are larger than I realized! I like getting the bag credit taken off of my bill at the end! I have used them every week since they arrived and I really like knowing how many plastic bags have gone unused due to my reusable ones. I will be buying more as presents for my family!
This bag is great. It passes the "sweet potato test"... that is it can hold 5 lbs of sweet potatoes no problem.
Sturdy and light, hold produce nicely in refrigerator
I love these bags! They're strong and washable, and I love the idea that I'm not bringing home tons of throwaway plastic bags. The looks on the faces of the supermarket checkers is a great opener into spreading the word, too. Now if I could just remember to keep them out of the dryer...
I have no complaints about my bags. I always used to forget to bring/re-use plastic grocery bags that I saved because I tucked them away in a drawer at my house. With the stuff sack these came in, I just throw them in my trunk and have them at all times. I also keep one in my purse just in case I forget. I can fit all of my groceries in these bags and don't have to worry about my more fragile things getting crushed. I would love to order more in the future & convince my boyfriend to try them!
I could no longer bear the idea of collecting more plastic bags and thought of making my own produce bags. I did a search on-line and found reusablebags.com. I bought both sizes of the produce bags and I love them. I followed the directions to wet down the bag before putting in the refrigerator, and attest to the fact that the contents (lettuce) stayed fresh. I'll buy more for gifts during the holiday season. Kristin from California
I like these little bags. My only complaint is that in the description it says they are mesh bags, but what I received was just little cotton muslin bags not really what I expected. I like mesh bags because the checkout clerks can see what's inside without opening the bag...makes checkout quicker. The muslin also shrinks after they have been washed so my bags are a bit tiny now...next time I would definitely get the medium bags. But these little bags work just fine, they are nice and light and since they are untreated muslin I can use them when I make cheese too...an unexpected benenfit.
Great bags for shopping and for storing veggies in the fridge. I'd definitely get more. Lyndsay F. Massachusetts
We LOVE these bags! The large size fits a lot of produce - so much better than using several of those plastic bags for each grocery trip.
I just started using this bags two weeks ago. So far, I love them so much that I am buying more of them. They are very useful; lots of different uses. Not only to put your produce at the store for checkout, but I also use them for storage at home. I store my sweet potatoes, potatoes, onions, bulk beans, etc. in my pantry. I also store my produce in the fridge. My favorite use is to store my washed lettuce in it. My lettuce seems to keep fresh pretty good. I purchased the small and large sizes, and like both. But find the large size of more use. I like the tag on the outside, since I use it to label the contents. All my friends like them so much, that they want to buy them too. I can't rate the quality, since I haven't used them long enough. They do shrink after the first wash in cold water and air dry. But still large enough to be used.
Love the large bags and the tag on outside is great - can easily put a sticker from produce on bag so speeds up check out.
I have not yet used the produce bags but the quality is fantastic and appears to be not only well made but durable!!
The produce bags came in real handy while shopping as it's just the right size for tomatoes, onions and bell peppers.
This product meet my expectations to the highest degree. I would not hesitate to recommend these mesh produce bags to others. They are just the best!
This product is great for the bulk foods section, even grains! The drawstring stays closed tightly too - if there were an erasable label on it, I would needed to mark the twisty ties. The larger size is very generous, so I've found the smaller size suits my buying habits better for our family of two.
I've already had a chance to use the cotton mesh produce bags several times and like them very much. I've also gotten positive comments from people working in the store/ farmer's market and I've shared your address with them. I hope word spreads about your products. Keep up the good work. Thanks.
I love taking these to the store. The first use really got the cashier's attention, and we had a nice discussion about plastic. The only things I would change would be to include more of the smaller bags in the kit, and some sort of labeling system to avoid opening each one to view the contents. Makes a great lunch bag, too!
These cotton mesh produce bags are EXACTLY what I've been looking for. I have to restock our produce every week and have been frustrated by the number of plastic bags that we're using. They're lightweight and very easy to tote around. The only disadvantage is that the cashier has to open up each bag to see the items, so that may slow check-out down a bit. But, if you're cool with that, these are AWESOME!
These bags are great! Well-made and they fold up small when not needed. I use them for groceries such as fruits and onions as intended, but they also make great lightweight ditty bags for camping when you don't need something heavy-duty or waterproof.
I really like the produce bags. I always try to not use the plastic bags at the store but this causes my produce to roam around in my cart. These bags are convient. I would recommend the larger bags which are the perfect size for all my produce needs.
Great product! The large bags are REALLY large - good for grapefruit, ears of corn, or larger amounts of fruits and vegetables. The small bags are great for apricots, plums, and smaller items. Very nice and they wash very well.
I love the bags even though they are opaque. The only way the bags would be better would be if they were a little see-through.
These bags are great! For years I've been carrying canvas grocery bags with me but still using the same old plastic produce bags, so it is nice to be fully free of disposable bags. Note: they're a little heavier than plastic produce bags, so you'll want to weigh them in advance and then have the cashier subtract their weight.
The bags itself are great but the small is smaller than I had thought and the large is more similar to the grocery store produce bags. I think I ordered too many small and not enough large.
I've always hated the awful polypropolene bags offered at grocery stores... They weak, too large and wasteful. Recently I bought these reusable produce bags and they are wonderful! There are large and small bags which is nice. The large bag easily fits 8 ears of corn still in the husks! The smaller bags are wonderful for apples. pears, or even small bunches of bananas. Now I can take my reusable canvas shopping bags back home without any plastic in them!
I love them as well as the reusable string bags. So light and convenient--I take them everywhere. I'm now a no paper-no plastic shopper. Thanks for making this so easy and instantly rewarding!
We really like these bags. We were getting tired of bringing home all the little plastic bags. My husband likes the rope, it is long enough to go over his shoulder. We use the bags to pick our produce and carry it home.
I bought 10 so that I could have 5 for shopping in the stores and 5 for cleaned produce in the fridge. They have been in constant use since I received them. Other reviewers complained about opaqueness...I simply leave the bags partly open for the checkers and so far there hasn't been any problems. In fact one checker commented on what a great idea they are. I completely heartly them.
I am THRILLED I no longer have to use those stupid plastic produce bags! What a waste! These cotton mesh bags are great for practically anything, not just produce (for example ice cream and yogurt). Great value for the price, I'm very happy with these bags.
Very versatile bags! We bought some reusable grocery bags but realized we needed produce bags to eliminate those small plastic ones. These do just the thing.
I shop at Whole Foods most of the time. They give a $0.05 credit for every bag you bring in, including the produce bags. I was very pleased to come home and NOT have any plastic to dispose of. Thank you.
i love this bag. its roomy and extremely sturdy but what i like most is the fact that its made out of recycled plastic bottles.
I absolutely live these bags. They fit far more than the conventional plastic bags, and you avoid the double bagging issue because they are so strong! Every time I use one of these bags I am saving 2 plastic bags. Thats a good feeling.
Great product, well-made. It keeps produce fresh in the fridge for an extended time. It is great value for the money.
These bags hold a lot of produce, I bought one large and one small and find I use the smaller one more often.
I have not used these yet - am planning to this weekend - but they seem like they are going to work just fine!!
I love the canvas bags that I ordered. The squared bottom allow them to hold many items. I keep them rolled together in my car & use them for all of my grocery & other shopping. One thing that I do not like about my orderis that I am now receiving frequent emails. Please remove me from your email marketing list. Thanks.
At first I was apprehensive about carrying my own bags to the grocery. But they were very hospitable and filled my bags with no problem. The nicest part is that my reuseuable bags are stronger and I can carry more! I wish I had done this a long time ago.
The cotton mesh produce bags are a wonderful item when purchasing wet produce or items from the bulk aisle and just as easy to remember to bring as my reusable shopping bags! I am now able to walk away from the store completely plastic free, thank you!
These are fantastic! I thought I might have a problem with the cashier as the bags aren't see through but our supermarket has the DIY scales with price stickers that pop out and I just put one of those on the outside for an easy transaction. Thanks!!
I purchased several of the produce bags and love them. I get a couple of looks at the grocery store these days, but they are used to my cloth bags for holding all the groceries --so they will get used to these, too. They were great for use at the farmer's market in town, too! They wash easily and hold up nicely so far.
I love these bags, I bring them with me everytime I go shopping. They stretch to hold a lot, and stuff up small enough for me to cram several in my purse as I'm heading out the door.
These produce bags are a real find! Everyone at the grocery store asks me about them (so of course I plug reusablebags.com). I love the fact that I'm not using throw away plastic produce bags, and these are easily washed for reuse. I will be taking these to the farmer's market when it starts in a couple of weeks. They are sure to be a big hit there as well.
I love these bags. I feel so much better not using tons of plastic bags just to bring my fruits and vegetables home.
I love these bags, its a great way to avoid the use of plastic completely! They are very sturdy adn much larger than I was expecting. The grocery store even took my produce out (to weight it) and then put it back in the bag, to avoid paying for the bag's weight! They were very responsive to the bags!
I love the reusable cotton mesh produce bags. They are just the right size. The drawstring closure works effeciently. They are lightweigh and wash easily. They are problematic at stores as cashiers don't know what to do with them and even Whole Foods doesn't have a tare weight available for them. But it's still better than the plastic or paper alternative.
These bags are very convenient and seem to be well made. I just toss them in the reusable bag I purchased at my local grocery store and I'm ready to go. So far I've used them just for apples. I am very happy with the purchase. I will gladly tell anyone who asks where to get them. Thanks.
You can use these bags for more than veggies. I purchased a couple of these bags however, I use them to carry my string grocery bags. I purchased some BIO BAGS for my veggies. I just stuff a couple in with my string bags and use those.
I only bought 5 of these, but I am going to need 5 more. I always hated using the grocery store plastic produce bags and would try not to, but if I'm buying more than 3 tomatoes, it would just be inconvenient not to. And so ... I love these bags. And I could swear it's keeping my cilantro fresh much longer than usual. I feel good using these, and not just immediately throwing away bags when I get home from the store. I highly recommend these.
Overall I am happy with the purchase. I would like a larger bag for produce such as broccoli and kale.
I find them to be very useful and a good way to save resources. I simply pile all my veggies in it, separate it at check out for the weighing and immediately put it all back in the bag once the clerk weighs it. The check out clerks in this rather non-eco friendly store were excited about the bags. Perhaps they will catch on.
Nice product - stronger than one would guess based on the photo. I stick the produce sticker (if it has one) on the outside of the bag so the checker does not have to open the bag. Order a bunch, you will find many uses for them. My husband and kids have usurped half of my stash of these bags! Brenda G.
These small bags are nice and sturdy. I tend to put my produce in them after the cashier has weighed them since they can't see what's inside. Once I forgot most of my large mesh carry-bags and these worked well in the interim. Carrying a bunch of these is pretty bulky though (which is part of why I didn't realize that I didn't have my shopping bags with me!). A friend of mine uses these for buying bulk grains at the store, too.
I love the fabric produce bags, but the bagger at the grocery store kept trying to put groceries in them. Thanks for providing me with such a great and useful product!
This is a very useful product, well made, and used often.
The bags are awesome! Anything that helps the enviornment, I'm all for it! The only thing I would add to them would be the weight of the bag, printed on the tag...The ECOBAGS are heavier than the plastic bags, and if the cashier is willing to, they could then subtract that wieght...
The bags are wonderful and very useful. I even use them to carry my lunch sometimes. I will buy more in the future for gifts.
These are just terrific--they hold a lot more than I expected. I easily fit ten large lemons into one bag.
I love your cotton bags. I've recommended them to all my friends and family. The only improvement would be to have them be made of some kind of net-like cotton, so the check-out person can see what's inside. I use them every time I shop. THANK YOU.
I loved the Reusable Cotton Mesh Produce Bags. At first, I thought they looked a little small but then once I filled them at the supermarket, they held just the right amount. The construction seems strong, and I feel they will last a long time. Having no plastic produce bags to throw out realy made me feel good. I will certainly return to your website for future purchases.
Love the cotton produce bags. Easy to use and clean. I couldn't believe how many plastic bags I would have wasted. I've handed them out to people in the store and friends. They love them too. This will be my Christmas gift to the family this year. Thank you.
Great for grocery shopping--my colleagues and I love them.
The bags are very easy to use. I keep them by the back door so I won't forget them, and keep one in my purse. I just wish they were see through!
these are great bags for produce, small outings, or for taking your lunch to work. i really like these bags.
I have been an avid canvas bag user for a few years now and have always been able to find good quality bags at my local health food store. Recently I have chosen to buy bulk grains and pastas but the stores do not stock the very fine mesh produce bags I needed. A quick search online led me to reusablebags.com and the fine mesh produces bags I was looking for. These are fair priced, sturdy, and non-descript; perfect for bulk shopping.
This bag is great! It may look little but it holds a lot. I used it to pack snacks in.
I really like these. The best part is not using those extra plastic bags for produce!
I like these bags very much. They are bigger than they appear (meaning you can fit loads of stuff in there) and they have a nice rope for cinching the bag up tight when it's full of stuff. Way better alternative to plastic bags!
We love this product, purchased 10 and it seems to be plenty for our shopping needs. Easy to use, plenty of room in the bags. I do highly recommend.
I absolutely love these produce bags. The small version is totally big enough for all my produce and veggies. I love the ability to wash the bags when they start to get dirty.
These produce bags are great. I do get funny looks and comments when I check out from other customers and cashiers but it a great opportunity to talk about how there is always something more we can do to cut down on our use of plastic bags. They work wonderfully and I like the drawstrings.
These are great...just what I expected...I was looking for a product like this for awhile... I have come to loathe plastic bags and now I can get my groceries into my house without any plastic ...HOORAY. Now, just stop the people at the supermarket from giving me funny looks when take them out of my shopping cart and all will be well.
Fantastic. Couldn't be better. Except lettuce doesn't keep as well in them.
Like the item because it is well made and easy to use. Would be better if were more translucent, since it is difficult to see produce. On the other hand, it gives me an opportunity to work on honing my sense of touch.
I got a few strange looks when I went through the check out with these bags, mainly because the cashier had to open up each bag to check the produce code and the actual produce, but as soon as they got over the initial shock, they thought these bags were awesome. They even asked me where I bought them, so props to reusablebags.com, for selling a great product at a reasonable price!
perfect size and strength - I'm so happy I don't have to keep taking plastic bags for produce!
These are just the right size for my 2 person household. I've gotten lots of inquiries from checkers and patrons as to where I got them and what they are for. They are so handy! I should of bought these months ago when I first found your website.
The bags are great. I use them for produce and bulk foods like nuts and candy. They easily fit in my pocket or purse. I feel so much better about grocery shopping now that I am using less plastic to bring my groceries home!
Kept damp, it is a great way to keep produce fresh in the fridge.
We use the smaller ones for things like garlic and ginger. The bigger ones for fruits and heavier veggies. We take them to the farmer's markets, weigh in the provided plastics (scales are set for them not the cotton bags) then we transfer the purchased produce to the cotton bags in our cart and hand the plastic bag to the next customer. We now have no plastic bag hell when we get home.
This produce bags are a great storage device at home and obviously a great way to reduce the amount of bags I pick up at the market.
These bags rock. They're easily portable, sturdy, and hold more then you'd think by looking at them. And you get the best looks from checkout clerks when you use them! :)
I love these!! The bags are quite big...if you're going to buy a clove of garlic or a handful of spices the small ones will work fine. These bags are good for lbs. of potatoes, apples, etc. The fabric is thick and durable, these bags will last forever!
These things are amazing, no joke! The first time i used these at the farmers market i got al least a dozen positive comments, plus they look so cool. If you are single, you won't be for long. In regards to functionality, these things are perfect. Leave produce in slightly damp bags and it will stay fresh for a long time. My expectations were meet and exceeded.
I feel so much better about buying produce at the grocery store now that I can put it in these reusable bags. And you can't beat the price!
I love the produce bags. I hated bringing home those useless thin plastic produce bags every week. The better we ate, the more garbage I brough home in the form of those bags. I shop for my multigenerational family of 7 and this has helped me tremendously.
We love these bags! We use them at farmer's markets and the grocery store. When filling them with produce, don't close them. It's much easier for the check-out person to see what's inside if they're not struggling with the strings!
I used my produce bag for the first time and loved it. I bags are so lightweight, I can't imagine how much weight they could add to the total cost. Definitely worth the small price if it means not collecting anymore plastic produce bags.
I like the produce bags. I am going to have to train the checkers at my local grocery store though. The first time I used them the checker was a mite confused and was trying to figure out how much to charge me for them!
I love the bags. They hold a lot of groceries and I love knowing that we're doing my part. My 3 year old daughter loves the new bags and everytime we use them, she says, "Reduce, reuse, recycle!"
These bags are stylish and practical. Though they do not hold as much weight as other bags, they stretch around groceries quite well and are easy to carry over the shoulder.
Just down the road there is a small produce market. They are wonderful with local fruits and veggies, but unfortunately they are always out of those flimsy plastic bags. I bought some of these and they store the produce so much better. Plus, I can use them for other things.
I’ve discovered plenty of other uses for these versatile bags! Picked up a bunch to use as gift bags – my kids like decorating them and they are a fun alternative to using wrap. The drawstring also turns it into a convenient pouch for items you want to keep together – we use it for school supplies and toys. Large size is also great for storing/organizing stuff in our closets.
These are such a fab idea! I always end up with so many of those silly, flimsy plazzie bags when I do my grocery shopping (and they only end up in the bin) but these totally solve the problem! If I had any complaints it would be that when people see me putting fruit and veg in the bag sometimes I swear they think I'm trying to steal it, but who cares what other people think! As always, thank you reusablebags.com!
I bought some of these bags for ~ would you believe ~ putting live birds in! Yep. And any other Ringer / Bander out there will know exactly what I mean.
I'm not yet sure how they compare, price wise, to the BTO ones. But, the size and quality are certainly good.
Just the one little niggle; I thought the draw string could be a bit thicker /stronger .....
Well-made fabric bags that wash well and have simple, non-clashing designs. The drawstrings hold up well. I use them to store my son's blocks. Not inexpensive, but until I learn to sew, probably worthwhile.
I purchased this bag to avoid buying bread in plastic bags. Now I just hand over the cotton bag at the grocery store to be filled with fresh loaves of bread! So far it has worked great.
These bags are a great step in making my household free of plastic bags. I especially love them at the co-op and farmer's market when shopping for green beans, apples or anything else that normally gets tucked into the ubiquitous produce bag. I'm still trying to work out a system in my fridge. Because I cannot see through them, I often forget what I bought. Keeps me on my toes.
These bags are so handy for heavy produce and trips to the bulk bins! The downside is I cannot use for storage in the refrigerator for items like lettuce as it will wilt so I have to transfer some produce to the plastic I reuse at home.
theses are great for going to the bulk bins! keep one empty one, or remember that they weigh about 1 1/2 oz. and ask the cahier if they can tare them, and do all of your bulk in one section. great for produce at the farmer's markets too! clean great, and they should definitely be air dried (you shouldn't waste all of that energy with a drier anyway) i remove one point for not being made in the usa
I'm very satisfied. The bags appear well made and are easy to use. I haven't had a chance to launder them.
These bags are a pretty good product. I got the small ones, though, and they're a little bit too small for my needs. The problem is that you can't fit much in them unless you don't mind having stuff sticking out of it (although it isn't a bad thing since the cashier knows what's in it. I'm still pretty happy with them, since I don't have to use those plastic produce bags anymore. These are a great next step after starting to use reusable shopping bags. Like them!
I purchased the produce and snack bags. Like both and use them. However, the snack bags turned out to be a little smaller than I thought and a bunch of cilantro barely fits in it. Like the fact that I have don't have to have all those produce plastic bags around the house or have to worry about bringing them back to the store to recycle. Still the cashiers freak out when they see them!!!
I find these produce bags are good for bulk bins items that would fall through mesh bags -- flour, rice, corn meal, lentils, nuts, chocolate-covered anything. But because of their weight, they are not ideal for very light items, unless your grocery will weigh the bags for you and then subtract the weight. Also, some checkers dislike them because they need to peer into the bag to verify you have not cheated and labeled an expensive item with a cheaper code (eg, calling pine nuts split peas). It is better to turn the bags inside out before washing in the washing machine. Also line-dry instead of placing in the dryer.
I recently purchased the small and large produce bags for myself and my daughter as well. They are a great addition to the mesh bags which expand to hold a huge amount of products when packing my groceries! The one improvement that might be considered is to create a mesh weave for the produce bags instead of the solid muslin. This way, you can readily see what you have in the bag without having to re-open at check-out.

Great product. Just make sure that you follow the care instructions and wash cold and not dry them. They definitely shrink.
These bags are great! I've been using them for lunch bags and chips with my Wrap-n-Mat sandwich wraps. I've never felt so good about bringing my lunch to work! Thanks!
Ordered both small and large size produce bags. They work great for fruits- I just wish the large size was larger so I could fit greens into them.
I like the small size to use when getting produce at the grocery store. I think it would be better if they were made from mesh instead of organic cotton, but whatever the fabric, I like them very much. Bonnie Logan
Great size for getting produce at the store. Love not taking more of those plastic bags!
Canteen bottles are working well. You kindly exchanged the one that was leaking. The snack bags are also good. However the fold up blue mats for sandwiches are losing their velcro tags after one washing. THey need to be stiched stronger to the material. Anita
A little less "mesh-y" than I expected, but good quality, and will be useful for a lot of things.
So far I like these. They're bigger than I expected so I might buy some of the smaller ones for smaller produce purchases, but I used these for my "apple stock-up" and it was great. My store doesn't honor the tare weight shown on the bag tag, but it's only a fraction and I don't mind
I haven't used them yet, but washed them first and they shrank beyond all belief! I looked inside too late to see that they are cold wash (which I did) and line dry (which I didn't do). I'm very sad they are so small now. They held up well to the washer and drier though. I still like the idea and will use them for smaller produce, but perhaps you can either make extra large ones so I can dry them or make some that can be dried? I have a small apartment and not much room to hang stuff to dry.
I like the bags but for what i'd like the sizes are a but weird . We've used the big ones to pack 6 apples for my husband and 3 kids on hikes or trips to museum etc but I think the mesh bags would work better for produce bags. The small ones weren't as small as I would have liked . I do like the size of the small. I pack my son a few snacks ..like a pudding cup and an apple with a spoon can all fit. He likes that because he is 9 and is too 'cool' for insulated lunch boxes. I was looking more along the size to pack individual items. Like to replace the snack packs of goldfish. I'd love a samller size like that, you know to just give the kids a portion of chips, pretzels etc. The small size is too large for that.
The bags are wonderful for large items like corn and pinnaple. I love them...
The produce bags are great. The small size is smaller than I thought. But it helps us(2 people) to buy only what we will eat for the week. The ags are not mesh but more like a cotton fabric. My grocery store refunds 6 cents for each bag that I use including the produce bags.
Hi there! The Cotton Mesh bags are a hit. I love the idea of being a trend setter in grocery shopping and going one step further than just a mesh shopping bag, but mesh produce bags as well. The only draw back in the bags I purchased was that they are not see thru. What I mean is that the cashier has to open each bag at the store to see what is inside and the product code. I noticed it's not such a great idea to go shopping on a busy saturday afternoon....but they work just fine for Wednesday morning shopping. I will continue to use them but would love to see some kind of a see thru bag made. Thank you
Order the larger bags! The small ones will barely hold two apples before you will be unable to close the bags.
They shrunk a lot during wash, and they are heavy enough that they can cost $.50-.90 for expensive organic stuff, by the pound. But quality is great and am happy with them.
I love this item...! Each bag holds loads of produce (a dozen apples easily fit in the bag) and I feel good that I've been able to replace using the plastic bags in the produce section. I also have used this (as well as my larger canvas bag(s) when shopping at other retail outlets, (clothing, books, home improvement....etc). People comment that they didn't even think to bring their shopping bags beyond the grocery store... there have been some good discussions as a result. For some reason I didn't realize that these were not 'mesh' as in see-through... they are more like muslin---opaque, so when checking out the produce, the checker cannot see what's inside and sometimes empties the whole bag 1st... I'll probably try the other bags that are available to ease this.
These bags are a great size. (Fits a head of green leaf lettuce no problem.) And they wash up well in delicate cycle. Perfect for the farmers market! I just wish you could see what's inside them when they are in the crisper drawer.
Nice idea to reduce the plastic bag waste. However, not to be used with garden fresh greens since it makes them wilt. Overall , a great investment.
Good size. These are not mesh, however. More like unbleached muslin. My local store sells small bags that are a lighter weight cotton, closer to a mesh. They are suitable only for mushrooms, kiwis, and other produce of that size. This product's shrinkage dictates that the medium/large size is the best size to begin with.
What a fabulous idea! I use resusable bags to pack my groceries at the store but i still always felt guilty for using those plastic produce bags. Then i saw a man with reusable ones and i knew i had to find them. I only wish they were a bit thinner. The ones this man had were almost like cheese cloth. But that is just a personal preference of mine. Either way I say no to the plastic bag!
We are so happy that we no longer have to use the plastic produce bags! We have people ask us about the bags every time we shop. I do wish they were somehow see-through so I could tell what I have in my veggie drawer, and the bag with the onion retained the smell even post-laundering, but all in all, we're so happy to have an alternative.
The small bags are small, they held 2 small cukes. The large bag held about 2-3 lbs of potatoes
These bags are great. I was sick of filling my reusable shopping bags with plastic produce bags so I decided to try these. The only issue was at checkout when most of the items had to be removed to be scanned and weighed, but the checkout woman at Whole Foods loved the bags so she didn't mind the extra effort.
The Organic Cotton Mesh Produce Bags are GREAT! Very convenient and they hold more that you expect! Definitely better than plastic! Here's to saving the Planet, One Bag at a Time! Marleea
These are very useful, though I don't get why they're called "mesh"? They're more like a really light muslin. I actually like that it's not mesh though as I could see using the bigger ones to buy bulk rice or cornmeal or something. I use the smaller ones in place of plastic baggies to bring things like nuts or pretzels to work for lunch.
Satisified with the quality of the bags. However, if they accidentally go through the dryer, they will shrink quite a bit.
These are great, but I wish they were a little more transparent for the sake of the checkout person seeing what's in there.
I love the bags I purchased from your website. I purchased both size small and size large of the canvas produce bags. The only complaint I would have with these bags is that there is no in-between size. The "small" seems too small for certain things, but the "large" seems way too big. I would love an in-between size. Everything else about them in wonderful, though. They are sturdy and so easy to use.
These bags are of good quality. The problem is that they are not see-thru like a platic bag. So, if you have a bunch of them filled with your favorite vegetables, you cant tell without opening as to what is inside them. Also, the bags are deep and narrow (like they are supposed to be), but it makes cleaning them (making them reuable) rather difficult.
These bags are well made, fairly priced and do the job. If you are a sewer, though, sew them up yourself and make extras for friends.
We like the bags very much. They are pretty strong. We have put a few through the wash and there is no fraying or pulling. I would have liked for a bit more transparency to the bag - the check out person has to open the bag every time to see the product code. But I guess we could use the self scanner that you carry around the market that many markets have now.
I loved the bags that I ordered and use them all the time...for everything. They are of better quality than what I had thought. My only issue is the shrinkage when i washed them, be careful with washing.
I like these bags. I use these in conjunction with the trolley bag to go completely plastic-bag-free at the grocery store. I bought 10 of them and store them in the trolley zipped up for when I go to the store.
These bags are great! I love using them. The small size is sufficient for most items (beans, peaches, 4-5 apples, etc.) and the large size for bigger items (celery, lettuce). They're durable and wash well. The mesh is thick enough that the cashier can't see through them, though, so if that's a concern, consider the net bags instead.
Good for about 5 apples, for lettuce and broccoli Large bags are necessary.
These are soft and the size Large will hold a lot. The size Small is smaller than I thought it would be... it would only hold a few avocados or apples.
These bags are good for keeping produce. They're big with draw strings so they work well at the farmers market. I would recommend them to a friend.
We have really liked these and use them each time we purchase produce at the store. A great idea.
These are perfect! I use the large ones for buying greens, and the small ones for buying apples, oranges, etc.
A little bulkier than I thought they'd be, but I like not having to take so many plastic bags.
Small really does mean small, so if you buy a lot of produce I would recommend the larger size. I do not buy very much (a few tomatoes, bunch of carrots, spinach, etc) and it's tight. Other than size, it's an excellent produce sack.
I really like these. I keep the fruit or herbs right in the bag and put them in the fridge. The only down side is that the clerk needs to open the bag, take an apple out and type in the code to ring up the item. Not like a clear plastic bag.
This is more like solid cotton, than mesh cotton but it worked well for buying and storing swiss chard.
Very nice bags, but much larger than I thought they would be. Will probably buy 2 more but in a smaller size for smaller items. Also what I thought 'mesh' means is not what the website means. Not as open a weave as I thought. Would have liked a more open weave, lighter bag, more 'see-thru' for produce.
Big enough for a large bunch of kale, pretty light-weight, and holds in the minimal amount of water that's on the produce w/o leaking it into the rest of your shopping bag. They could be a little more transparent, to identify what's inside w/o taking out the produce at the checkout stand, but otherwise i think these are great!
I ordered five bags. They were made of cotton and I was expecting a much lighter material. I've used them for food storage and they help keep the bananas from rotting so quickly. They're going to be good for the future but will take a little time to get use to using the bags and carring them on a regular.
I should have bought the larger size ( I tried to fit a big bunch a swiss chard into the smaller- not a good idea haha) but these are excellent and a great alternative to the wasteful plastic that I usually throw out.
They are organic, but the produce cannot be seen from the outside, needs a more open weave.
I love mine. I get the big ones. They are perfect for things like apples and oranges but when I get the small stuff... like beans... then it's a little large so I wish I had gotten a couple of the small ones too. That's my fault though. I think they're great and I love the strange stares I get from people when I'm using them... =)
I bought a buch of the produce bags to use as gifts for several of my friends. I want to try to encourage them to stop the single use bag habit. I did not know that I would be so fond of the bags that I almost did not give the gifts! Great Product!
I love the idea of these bags and ordered both the large and the small. I am very happy with the large but the small is much smaller than expected. You can fit about 2 large apples in the bag before it is full. Is there a medium??
It's nice to have an alternative to plastic vegetable/fruit bags when grocery shopping. These work well and I like the two sizes.
I recently used my cotton mesh produce bags for the first time. The size is good for most fruit and the person running the checkout had no problem opening the bags to check the produce stickers. I was hoping the bags would be more mesh-like. They are a tighter weave than I thought they would be. I think a looser weave would be better for leafy greens which tend to be damp.
I really like using these instead of throwing away those little 'disposable' produce bags. After all they really aren't disposable for a very long time. The only problem with these is that they will cost you more than the plastic bags because of their weight. Otherwise they are great and hold basically anything you want in them. I don't bother with the small ones and always get the large.
Great pruduct! The only downside is that they're heavier than plastic bags so vegetables end up costing a little more.
These bags work great for self-checkout. More difficult with a cashier because they can't see the item inside. I use these bags all the time and just throw them in the wash if they get dirty from produce. Large bags are best because they do shrink some when washed. You can also dampen the bag and store produce in the refrigerator for a little longer than usual!
I really like these bags, they are perfect for apples and oranges. A little small for more than 2 bananas. I love not having a bunch of those plastic produce bags when i get home.
Really good bags. I forgot to dampen the bags before putting the produce in the fridge and don't forget because they can dry out your produce if you don't keep it damp! I love the natural look and feel of them and they have served me and my fruits and veggies well so far. They wash up nicely and serve my family well!
I thought these would be meshier (more like net), but in retrospect I'm glad they aren't because perhaps some produce would fall out. I also didn't think I'd use them, but I do. Am thinking of ordering more, and larger sizes. Appear to wash very well.
Not bad, but I wish I could see through them. Fully functional and a good value though.
The produce bags are great. They keep fruit and veggies fresh, and are very convenient size-wise. The only issue I've had is that at regular run-of-the-mill grocery stores, the check-out people have a lot of trouble seeing through the mesh and identifying the numbers on the fruit/veggie labels. This can be a bit awkward, so I'd suggest using them for natural/specialty grocery stores instead.
I shop all summer at the local farmer's market and these are really wonderful for keeping my purchases together for weighig and then in my Earthtote shopping bags. I will be taking them to my grocery store this fall for produce also.
These bags are huge! They hold all of my produce with room to spare.
a little heavier than would've liked, but otherwise very useful.
I love the bags. They are actully a replacement for some I purchased years ago from another source. One of the, however is not coompletely sewn on the side. I am hoping the hole does not get larger.
These are great, but MUCH larger than I thought! I would get a smaller size next time! Very durable and washable! Thanks for a great product
When I saw the word mesh ... I assumed "see through" but still better than plastic.
These are way better than getting all those plastic produce bags. The only drawbacks are that they weigh more than the bags, the checkout person has to look inside the bag, and the produce doesn't stay as crisp when storing in the fridge for a while (even though the company says you can wet the bag and that keeps the produce fresh, I did not have success with this).
I've been using these bags for a few weeks now, and am generally quite pleased with them. The only major shock I've had is when I washed them before using them the first time. The instructions say to wash in cold water, but they don't specify whether or not machine washing is ok. I took the lack of specificity as a sign that it was fine to machine wash, but when I pulled them out (to let them air dry), I found some pretty major shrinkage. The large bags were about 10% smaller, and the small bags slightly less so. But even though they're smaller, capacity hasn't been much of a problem, though I'm only shopping for two people, so I tend to buy in smaller volumes. Checkers at stores seem to get a kick out of these bags. They see a mass of little white bags coming at them down the conveyer belt and wonder out loud what's going on. It slows down the process a fraction for them not to be able to see through the clear plastic to what's inside, but I've started positioning the opening of the bags to make for easy checker access, and everyone has been very good-natured about it.
So far, I've been using these bags to pick up produce at a Community Supported Agriculture farm. Most of this produce is not pre-washed so the bags get quite dirty. I just turn them inside out and rinse them off and they dry fairly quickly. They're too small to hold really bulky items like large heads of lettuce, etc. Great for transporting produce, not the best choice for storing most produce. Also, these are not see through bags.
Wish they were mesh, to allow air flow. Or had a few holes here and there
I like them. Good sized and fair price. The only thing I don't like is I can't see through them. however I am willing to deal with that for the quality of product they are.
These are nice and easy to use. Keep in mind that they are not see-through though! We are finding these less-fun to use because we can't see at-a-glance what we have in the fridge. And the large bags are REALLY large - what you'd use for potatoes, onions, or huge bags of rice. I will be using these primary for produce that I plan to transfer to another container when I get home.
i like the bags but they are smaller than i expected. i know you included dimensions in the copy about the bags, but i didn't realize they would shrink so much. they are good, even though they don't hold much.
Love, love, love these! No plastic bags to wash or mess with. Only thing is that some produce do better with plastic in the fridge, so you don't want to use these for everything.
I'm quite happy with the bags I purchased from reusablebags.com. My biggest problem with them is REMEMBERING I have them with me! (It's amazing how socially conditioned we are to just stand there passively at the checkout.) I use the bags mainly for grocery shopping. The cashiers and baggers seem to be totally thrown off by the concept, and I DO get many odd looks. (But then, I live in a part of the country where this REALLY needs more exposure anyway!) I can't wait until the Farmer's Markets open for the season. :-) The bags are tough, and well-constructed...I'm always amazed by how few I really need. They're also much more convenient than the reusable bags I've tried in the past; those took up a great deal of space, and you had to remember to haul them into the store with you, and of course you NEVER had them for impulse purchases. These bags simply live in my purse, and they're *always* there with me, so I never end up forgetting them. They're also easy to load, as box corners never get caught or snagged on anything! I'm still on a learning curve on opening them from their little packet forms. Invariably I have to fumble around with them to find the "top" so I can turn them right-side out again. I assume one of the days I'll get far more proficient!
I really like these but I think they are a little annoying for the cashiers since they have to be opened to look at the produce codes. Otherwise it is a very good product. I will be ordering more of these in the future.
These bags are high quality, but you cant see through them, so i get grubby cashier ands touching my fruits :(. the other kinda of produce bags were sold out when i ordered. these bags are good but i recommend those.
All in all I like the product. It's holding up well. The one drawback is that the bag is not transparent, which forces the check out person to have to stop and open the bag. The use of the word 'mesh' in the bag description let me to belive that the bag would be see-through.
I am glad I bought these however, I was under the impression they are transparent, which they are not. As for the complain about extra weight, it can't be more than a few pennies and if you're that concerned with the monetary aspect why are you paying for produce bags when you could just reuse plastic ones until they break, then recycle them?
Also, a solution to making the cashier open the bag to see the PLU # is to simply take one of the stickers off the produce and stick it on the outside of the bag. They stay put for the duration of your shopping experience.
These are not seethrough, as the picture suggests. Also, the large is quite large. I wish I had gotten the small size too. They also work well to store dry veggies, such as potatoes.
I was a bit worried that I'd be embarrassed bringing my bulk items to the cashier in these wierd cloth bags but it turned out that was silly. For my bananas, I just left it open a bit so the cashier could see what was in there without a problem. I even put my granola in there and attached the tag with the bin number to the string. Even if it takes the cashier a few seconds to figure out what the cloth bags are about I'm still the fastest customer because I bring my own bags so the cashier doesn't have to do any bagging. However, of course they would be better if they were lighter.
I like the bag but it is an awkward size. I do enjoy using it though instead of plastic!
nice size but was a little disappointed - looks like something I can whip up on my sewing machine in a couple of minutes. Great if you're a non-sewer, though.
I like the muslin bags except they are too big to be snack bags. (for pretzels or goldfish) I ordered them because they were much cheaper than the other snack bags that I have seen. I would love for them to be smaller! I use them to put my children's whole snack in which does work great, just not what I intended.
I love them for rice and other produce. It isn't the best for produce that just got sprayed at the market. I found that it made a mess and the lettuce stained it a little. Overall, a useful product!
The muslin snack bag is disappointing - I thought it could be used to store greens in the refrigerator but they just wilted instead of staying crisp. I trust that the bags will be fine for hardier fruits and vegetables and for dry snacks. They are light and easy to use, that's a plus.
Usually I just reuse plastic bags for my farmer's market purchases, but these bags are a nice alternative (albeit a lot more expensive). They are strong, but a bit bulkier than reused plastic. Haven't tested them out in the fridge yet. Don't know how the material's permeability will affect freshness. Actually, I'm using them more as craft bags to tote my yarn and knitting projects...
I bought these bags to use at the store for produce so I wouldn't have to use plastic bags. They work ok, but I have since seen the nylon see through bags and I think i would like those better because you can see what is inside without peeking in the top.
My organic cotton mesh produce bags are great. However, I will look for produce bags that I can see through.
These bags are good. However, you can't see what's in them, so once you get to checkout, it can slow things down. All in all though, I've used them several times and I really like them. Plus, they was well.
While I love the idea of having reusable produce bags...these were oddly sized. The small bags are too small and the large are too big. (EX: you can probably only fit 2 apples in the small bag, but you could fit 3 heads of lettuce in the large bag) It'd be better if there was something in between...like a Medium.
The muslin cloth was not what I considered mesh. They were larger than I thought - but the drawstring was handy.
I have mixed opinions about these. They are pretty heavy weight which adds weight to my produce price unless I unload them (which isn't convenient). Also they must be opened to find the produce code, another inconvenience. Construction is fine. I ordered the large size and it is too big for most produce I buy--get the smaller if you buy them.
Be careful washing these - mine got into the dryer and are now suitable for carrying doll-sized produce! It's my own fault, so I can't really write a bad review, but I can't use the product, either.
Oops, wrong bag, this one doesn't fold up into a tiny pouch. I like these alot too though.
I like the cotton mesh produce bags a lot. But I wish they were bigger. They are trying to replace produce bags at grocerty stores that can fit several heads of brocolli or 2 bunches of asperagus with out complaint. And these bags just can't do it. They are too small. In general I like the idea and I think I purchased enough for my family but it's hard to tell if you can really use them for every produce purchase until you try them.
I'd have liked them better if they had two handles to make carrying easier. But that was my fault for not noticing when I ordered them.
These vegetable bags are a bit too small. I live alone and buy only a few fruits and veggies at any one time but the bags still could be a little larger. Otherwise they are fine and have prompted some curiosity which allows me to spread the re-usable bag message.
I am happy with the cotton produce bags overall. However, they did shrink when I washed them (exactly as directed), and now they are too small for many of my purchases. I am planning on buying something larger. Maybe the same in the larger size or in a different material that my not shrink as much.
**Warning, do not put in dryer. I forgot to take them out and they shrink** Pre-shrunk cotton would be nice. Besides that, Really good bags. I forgot to dampen the bags before putting the produce in the fridge and don't forget because they can dry out your produce if you don't keep it damp! I love the natural look and feel of them and they have served me and my fruits and veggies well so far. I love that I can use them over and over so if they didn't shrink I'd give them 5 stars!
These bags are good to use instead of plastic vegetable bags from the grocery store. The only drawback is do shrink a lot if you put them in the dryer, so if you don't have space to hang them to dry or know you'll forget,be aware of that. Also the small size is not that useful even unshrunk. Bags made of pre-shrunk cotton might be nice.
I love this idea since you can't recycle produce bags. I purchased the small ones which were smaller than I though and I would recommend the larger ones or to get a variety of both.
GREAT bags but a little too pricey for me considering I just found out I could buy them from my local grocery store for $1.50!! So check there first! So I rated it kinda low for the price itself.
I would like them better if they were lighter in weight and if I could see through them.
nice tote but very expensive. I purchased it because my daughter requested it for a birthday gift.
Great for buying produce, but not good for storing. We put some lettuce in a bag in the fridge, and the next day it was all wilted and we had to throw it out. We've reverted to keeping lettuce in plastic.
I have used the bags seveal times, but do wish they were a little bigger. I have to buy large items like chard, and kale and have found these items are hard to put into the bag.
I should have added that the product I received was not mesh or gauze-like at all -more like muslin (completely opaque). The picture and description do not seem accurate.
These work fine, but I wish they were see through for ease of checkout. I bought the large one, but should have gotten several small ones so I don't have to pile all the produce together. I thought these had a strange scent even after washing.
The product says cotton mesh bags, but received cotton muslin bags - misleading. I would like mesh because you can see through them and dont have to open them at checkout.
Correction on my earlier review: sorry, I spelled "privilege" incorrectly. And now I see the website said the bag was 0.09 lbs, not quite 2 ounces, which comes out to an extra 17 cents per bag if apples cost $1.99, not 25 cents. I don't know how to go back and edit my review. Lisa H.
I love the idea of using cloth produce bags and these bags have gotten good reviews even at the store. I wrote the tare weight on the underside of the tag using a permanent marker and the cashiers have taken my word for it. My only complaint is that I washed one of the bags (so far) and it shrank considerably. I thought I liked the small bags, but I think the larger ones, after they are washed, will be just about the right size.
I've just started using cloth grocery bags at my local Vons store. I love using my string bags, but I'm having trouble getting myself to use these cotton mesh produce bags for my produce. The main reason is that I weighed one (the large size) at about 2 ounces on the grocery store's produce scales. Today I bought some apples at $1.99 a pound. I calculated that if I used my cloth bag assuming a weight of 2 ounces, it would add another 25 cents to the cost of the apples. Maybe I'm cheap, but I don't want to needlessly pay an extra 25 cents per bag for the priviledge of using cloth produce bags. I need to talk to the cashier to see if she can subtract the weight of the bag from the total weight, but they all seem so busy that I haven't done this yet. I have the same complaint with the large net produce sacks: they are about a half ounce heavier than the mesh bag.
Was really looking forward to these, but was a little bummed when they arrived for two reasons: 1) I thought I was getting 4 in a package instead of 1 (clearly my error) and 2) my produce does not stay crisp very long in them (duh, it's muslin). I think $4.45(plus shipping) for a single, muslin bag is a bit much, maybe because I support localism more than fair trade.
Lessons learned: 1) read the information page a little more closely before ordering, and 2) try the polyester bags as an alternative to turning every faucet, handle and vase in my kitchen into a plastic bag drying rack. Or have a little fun with DIY night.
I have really loved the other bags that I have purchased from you, but I am disappointed in the cotton produce bags. I was under the impression that "mesh" meant that there were small holes in the material and you would be able to see inside the bag. I plan to return these bags because they are solid. I intended to use them in the produce department of the grocery store. The clerk in the grocery will have to open each bag to determine the produce inside. The young people who work the bagging end of the operation are already displeased with me because the cloth bags do not fit on or hold open particularly well on their counter top as they attempt to fill them with my groceries. I smile, make some comment about the environment and help them bag. I really don't want to have the check-out clerk irritated with me also! Do you have a product that is see-through for this use?
I haven't used these much because the produce gets wilted and doesn't last as long in these. They are good sized and I will have to try them again.
I found these bags disappointing. I expected cotton "mesh" bags and instead got muslin. They also seem smaller than I expected and they shrunk when washed.
I would prefer it if this bag if the fabric were lighter weight. I have seen other mesh bags on the market in the past that have finer cotton material and retain their strength.
I think the concept of these bags are great. However, they shrunk to half their size after washing/drying. So, you may want to keep that in mind.
Bags are smaller than I had anticipated. So far, I have not used them.
I was disappointed in the large bags because I was expecting a heavier duty bag.It was my mistake however since I was expecting more of a tote quality and size. I have decided to use them to wrap holiday /birthday gifts instead of wrapping paper and am pleased with them for this.
The bags are convenient and sturdy but they shrunk considerably when washed in cold water & I did not put them in the dryer. Now the small size bags are too small for some of the uses I had planned for them.
I did not receive my product yet, so I cannot submit a review!
This size is too small for much. I'll order the larger size next time.
Great idea that falls short in real-world use. They're too thick to see through, so your cashier has to open them in order to see the produce stickers and ring your order. So, you're the chick holding up the check-out line! Also, because of their thickness, they add to the weight -- and cost -- of your order. LOVE this idea, but I have to "pay" for it every time I use them at the grocery store.
