I use these containers to make and freeze lunches for work ahead of time. They freeze well, and are indeed leak-proof. I found that they are easy to clean and did not stain, even with tomato products, but I did not heat these in the microwave. 4.0 lunchbox champs

When my kids started preschool and Kindergarten, they had to take a lunch and two snacks to school, every day. I was very excited about the bento system, only to find that my kids could not re-close the cute containers. Their lunch boxes would come home with open containers and a gooey mess of leftovers.But even my 3yo can open (and re-close!) the snapware. I like being able to see what is inside the containers, and love the fact that they can operate them properly by themselves.
I first found Snapware in a large set at Costco, then bought more of the small square containers here at reuseit.com. I wish somebody sold a set of the small squares, the very small rounds (great for yogurt & applesauce parfaits), and a few of the small rectangles (good for 2 halves of a sandwich).
My son lost a few containers last year, but this year I found that the not-so-smooth edging on the lids is a great place to write our last name with a Sharpie, and the ink stays on for quite a few washings.

5.0 Space saving, non-leaking, safe and easy

I've gone through many many types of glass and plastic containers and these are my favorites by far. This is the third time in 2 years that I'm buying more of these from reuse-it.Pros:
1. Dishwasher safe - comes out without funky food / plastic odor or coloring
2. They nest within each other. I live in a small city apartment with minimal storage space. They stack nicely within each other so I can store about 15 of these in different sizes all in one drawer.
3. They do not leak. I can take tomato soup to work and not spill a drop in my backpack.
4. Microwave safe
5. Lightweight, safe plastic that don't break even if you drop them. This is really nice for carrying food in backpacks and for commuters, and kid-friendly.
6. Really useful portion sizes
7. Flat tops make it easy to stack them in the fridge or lunch box
8. I love being able to buy the individual sizes that I need from reuseit. I've seen a box of snapware from costco but they're all different sizes and shapes, which makes it hard to nest them all in a small drawer
9. Long lasting. Each container gets used for storing food in the fridge, being carried to school or work, dropped on the floor, microwaved, and washed in the dishwasher several times a week. My toddler like to play with them - towers, water play, stacking, etc. I find that they last way over a year with hard use before a snap breaks off or the plastic starts looking a little worn. That's great value!
10. Inexpensive - if one gets lost or if leftovers get so gross that it's turned into a bio-hazard, I can throw it away without crying about replacement costs
11. Color coded lids make it easy to find the right lid for the right shape.
Cons:
1. They're not very good for freezer use - the snaps on the size become brittle and can break off
2. These won't last as long as glass containers. But they are really durable.
3. Sometimes one of the sides doesn't snap down, but just rotate the lid or tuck in the gasket tightly and that should fix it.

The more I use these, the less I'm satisfied with them. I have 4 each of the red gasket square and rectangle ones. The size and shape are perfect for my needs, but the sides don't always snap down and my newest problem is that stuff can eek under the gasket and mold, and it is a pain to remove that gasket. I've had a lot of problems with the flaps breaking off, especially if you use them in the freezer. Whatever you do, do NOT accidentally drop the container after you take it out of the freezer!I have replaced all my Snapware with Lock & Locks and haven't regretted it since.

3.0 Not suitable for long term freezing

I purchased two 26 oz and two 16 oz containers. I like the snap lid and they work great in the microwave. Plus, the 16 oz containers are the perfect size for taking salads or leftovers to work.However, I made some beans on New Years day and froze some of the leftovers. Yesterday (1/7/12), I noticed that a full layer of ice crystals had formed. I didn't fill the container completely, but I was disappointed to learn that there was so much air leakage. In the future, I will only use the containers for very short term refrigerator storage.
To those complaining about the size: The dimensions are written on the website. You can't blame reuseit.com for YOUR oversite.

3.0 Perfect for lunch

The best thing about these containers is that both sizes are great for lunch. They can be finicky to snap down at times, but nothing a 90 degree turn can't fix. I made the mistake of reheating some chicken legs in the microwave for 15-30s too long. The plastic became discolored in the corner where the stub and gravy met. I bought these for one purpose. I take them with me when we eat out because I can't stand bringing all those styrofoam containers home with me when we have leftovers. What a bunch of waste! They don't leak and they are compact so they are PERFECT to stash in a purse or a backpack. I just wish I'd thought of this years ago! Thanks to these handy containers, styrofoam is BANNED from my house! (IF I get styrofoam peanuts, I just save them and take them to a UPS or Fed-x store--they are happy to get them and reuse them.) I love these!! I bought the smallest size, about a dozen of them, to freeze oatmeal and soups to bring to work. The small ones are perfect for portion control. They do not leak, even when transporting non-frozen food. And they don't stain. I am buying the next size up for entree size meals. I'm so glad I found these. The snap-down flaps on the sides of the lid make these very easy to close securely, compared to other brands of airtight plasticware where I'm never sure if it's actually closed all the way. The gasket keeps these containers totally airtight; they don't leak at all, so they're great for bringing salads or wet-ish foods to lunch at school or work. The plastic does not infiltrate the flavor of the food inside, and they seem well made and durable. I am quite pleased with this product.View All
