Everybody loves the qualities of bamboo textiles: silky-smooth, lightweight and strong. But learning that bamboo fabric production can be extremely harmful to the environment gave us pause.

Materials
Made from a blend of 40% cotton and 60% bamboo. Bamboo is an organic, earth-friendly material known for its fast growth cycle and natural strength. Highly adaptable, bamboo can grow almost anywhere and protects the environment by generating more oxygen than other trees. Unlike conventional cotton, bamboo requires no fertilizer, pesticides or chemicals to grow. Best of all, it’s milled into an incredibly soft, beautiful and durable fabric.

The Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 is a globally-uniform testing and certification system for textile raw materials, intermediate and end products at all stages of production. Oeko-Tex Standard 100 is the benchmark of safety in the textile industry. Testing criteria include: no chemicals known to be harmful to health, environmentally responsible manufacturing practices and no child labor or other practices that harm human ecology. I love my bamboo tote! Not only does it look beautiful and feel awesome (the bamboo fabric is so soft!), but I really appreciate the wide shoulder straps and how they don't cut into my arm when it's full. I use this when I'm walking around town. I have to say, my favorite thing is absentmindedly feeling the fabric. It's so soothing. Is that weird?

I have to disagree with the reviewer who said this bag is flimsy - I've found it to be really strong. It's lightweight, and the fabric is really silky, so maybe it doesn't seem like it's going to hold a lot but it really does. I keep one rolled up in my purse so I don't get caught without a bag.

I have several products from you which I really like and have given as gifts. However, I am disappointed with the bamboo tote because it is so flimsy! I love the fact that it is bamboo, but I did not realize that it would not be sturdier than it is. You put one book in it, and it plops to the bottom and looks and feels awkward. I probably should have chosen the hemp.
