Bazura Small Insulated Lunch Bags are made in the Philippines by a women's cooperative, utilizing used juice containers. These containers are purchased through a network of local school children. Indestructible and non-biodegradable by nature, foil juice packs clog landfills, fields and streets throughout the Philippines. Using clever designs that combine the material's strength & brilliant colors, the co-op helps keep the environment clean via this very cool method of recycling.

About Bazura Bags

Bazura Bags come from a women's co-op in the Philippines that set up a Livelihood Project assisted by the local village council. With almost no capital, the women found a very clever way to support themselves.

Every day, children from the local schools collect over 50,000 used drink containers, called doy packs, then sell them to the co-op. The bags are sanitized and the women sew them together into attractive, durable bags.

Unlike most third world factory workers toiling away in sweatshops, these women are entrepreneurs and shareholders. They work for themselves and have a positive impact on their community and, at the same time, they encourage environmentalism.

Fact
It's estimated that millions of juice containers get thrown in the trash everyday in the Philippines.

Tips
  • Got a stuck zipper? Rubbing both sides of the zipper with a bar of soap or wax helps! Or try our other zipper tips.

love the Bazura bags

by Mary C - 05/2010

I am happily using my Bazura lunch bag. The size small is perfect for fruit, a petite sandwich and a small yogurt. The bags are cute, too.

Great example of creative reuse!

by Bette D - 12/2009

These not only are eye-catching, but a great example of creative reuse of what others would consider "trash"!

I bought this bag for a friend

by Catherine K - 10/2009

I bought this bag for a friend. She's a teacher and she loves that she doesn't have to worry about putting her lunch bag in the fridge since this bag is insulated. It is small, but perfect for someone who does not take a huge lunch to work (she is able to fit a soda, fruit, and string cheese).

This is a cute bag my daughter loves, but it's too small for a lunch bag. If it were 25-30% bigger it would be perfect.

The concept behind this bag is wonderful and the design is cute, however since you can't choose color or pattern, you might end up with something you really don't like the look of...mine is bright orange "Plus juice drink", my daughter however loves the little bag, it is the perfect size for her.

The design is cute and easily rinsed off

by Kelley B - 05/2009

The design is cute and easily rinsed off. I bought it for my preschooler as a lunch bag and I wish it was a bit larger but is great for packing snacks on quick outings. I'll have to get the larger size next time I buy!

This is the perfect size for a bento bag!

by Ann L - 04/2009

This is the perfect size for a bento bag! My bento box fits neatly in the bottom and there's plenty of room on top for a sidecar or some fruit. It was a bit difficult to unzip the first couple of times but no I have no problem and so far it's held up well.

Nice little bag for my son's lunch

by Lindsey W - 03/2009

Nice little bag for my son's lunch. A great size for a smaller child, probably not the right size for an adult or "big kid".

by Joanne E - 02/2009

My 9 year old daughter uses this bag for school lunch, every day. She loves it. I love it. The inside is very easy to clean and there is a small pocket to put utensils (or whatever)in. It is funky and fun to look at. And we are helping women. It is on the small side but perfect for my daughter. Obviously, we are not using paper bags or exposing her to the possibility of lead from another type of lunch box. It is so well made that I'm sure we will not have to buy another bag for many years. I am going to buy the medium size for myself.

by Kathy K - 02/2009

I really like the little lunch bag, it is cute and I have gotten several compliments on it. There is however one problem. It is not big enough to hold a frozen lunch ( like weight watchers of healthy choice). If it were taller they would fit. Kathy Kerridge

by Linda S - 01/2009

Actually my order was for a birthday gift for a friend. I was impressed when I received the item by how cute it was and it seemed to be well made and I liked the fact that it was made of recycled juice containers by a women's group in the Phillipines. I did hear that my friend likes the bag and is using it daily to transport her lunch from home to her job. Thanks.

We ordered a bag to hold laptop lunch kits

by Lauren R - 10/2008

We ordered a bag to hold laptop lunch kits. They fit with space for a bottle however, we only used it for less then a week. My son, who is not normally rough on stuff managed to shred the thing. After lunch they put their lunch boxes in a pile on the cement ground. During this process the rubbing from the cement literally shredded the bag. He actually cut himself on some of the little bits. I wouldn't recommend this bag unless an adult has complete control of it for the child.

by Denise G - 10/2008

My Bazura lunch bag is very cute, well made and prompts discussion about where I bought it and who made. I like the idea of supporting a womens co-op and keeping unnecessary waste out of landfills.

I love your site and products

by susan r - 10/2008

I love your site and products. Unfortuantely, not the case with my last purchse, the Basura lunch bag. It was difficult to use from the beginning; the zipper getting stuck. Much too difficult for a 4 year old in pre K, when I'm not there. Pretty soon the sipper began splitting--not broken, per se, but open in two different areas. Thus, I stopped using it and went out and bought another immediately. I need to return this for an exchange. I need another Sigg canister--It's not lined anymore right?Don't want it if it is. Only want stainless steel. How do I go about returning the bag? Susan Rios
