About Bazura Bags
Bazura Bags come from a women's co-op in the Philippines that set up a Livelihood Project assisted by the local village council. With almost no capital, the women found a very clever way to support themselves.

Every day, children from the local schools collect over 50,000 used drink containers, called doy packs, then sell them to the co-op. The bags are sanitized and the women sew them together into attractive, durable bags.

Unlike most third world factory workers toiling away in sweatshops, these women are entrepreneurs and shareholders. They work for themselves, have a positive impact on their community, and encourage environmentalism.

Fact
It's estimated that millions of juice containers get thrown in the trash everyday in the Philippines.

Love them!

by Elizabeth S - 05/2012

I have used two of these daily for the last school year and they have stood up to my 5 year old's lunch use. (And can fit two lunches for my twin girls.) They keep his lunch cool and they remind people to reuse! The handle on the medium bag has the same outer covering as the whole bag and that's the only wear I can see on the box-- the largest bag (I've used for over 4 years) has a nonjuicebox handle and has stood up better. These wash well although I've only washed them 2-3 times in the washing machine.

Sturdy

by Laurel S - 02/2012

I was pleasantly surprised at how sturdy this bag feels. It's a pretty good size for lunches. I think one long strap may work better than the two smaller straps. It would be easier to put over your shoulder if you are carting around mutiple work bags.

Love this bag!

by Kristi J - 02/2012

I get so many questions about this bag and get to share their story. Mine has juice boxes that are not made here in the U.S. so it makes for some great story starters. I like the shape and size because I usually take a pretty large salad. I found other bags weren't large enough to hold my salad, drink and snack. This bag is just the right size to hold all I need. Love this bag!

Love these bags!

by Elizabeth S - 06/2011

I bought 2 of these bags for the summer lunches. They are just the right size for fitting a sandwich tupperware, a 2 cup tupperware for veggies (with ice underneath) and a cup and banana on top. In fact my twin toddlers share one of these with 4 -8oz containers and still have room for 2 bananas. They are durable- I have the large size that I've used for over 4 years and it is still in great shape. Plus they look so cheerful. I get comments all the time from people who love my kids lunch bags. I'll never buy anything else.

Great roomy bag!

by Meredyth B - 05/2011

I've really enjoyed using the Bazura bags. They're cute and the medium bag is really roomy. Lots of room for lunch and snacks for the day. Being insulated, by including an ice pack I don't have to worry about fitting it in a crowded break room fridge.

I am so happy with this lunch bag. It looks great, it's put together really well and I really feel like it's a great value. My favorite thing about it is the story behind it. People are always complimenting on the bag and I get to tell them the story. It's great to not only reuse the old juice boxes, but help other people provide for themselves and their community. This is going on my Christmas list to give to others.

Huge but very handy

I bought one of these for my older daughter at the beginning of the school year and it has lasted very well. I love that you don't have to be delicate about washing it. I haven't had any trouble with the zip. But it is enormous, which is a mixed blessing: you can fit any number of food items and, more importantly, ice packs in it, unlike the letter-sized box my other daughter had to put up with, but if you have something squashable, like a banana, it might get beaten up in the backpack. I bought a new one basically just for kicks for my first daughter, and to replace the too-small one for my second. They love the colors too.

Delicious!

This is my second Bazura lunch bag, as I sadly left the first one on a bench at the bus station. It was a no-brainer to buy a second one. I can't say that works well as an "insulated bag" (since I always put it in the fridge at work, I've never tested its ability to keep things hot or cold), but it's the perfect size for me - I can fit two Tupperware containers and an apple, yogurt, napkin, etc. I've found it to be very durable and easy to clean. Best of all it's sooo cute, and I get compliments wherever I go.

Great bag with a great story

by Ann C - 01/2010

I love my bazura lunch bag! It's the perfect size, and the bright fun colors make me smile every day. I've gotten lots of compliments on it from my co-workers. It feels good to be able to tell them about the co-op in the Philippines that makes them from recycled juice boxes.

Looks great!

by Caroline A - 12/2009

I can't wait to give it as a surprise gift when my good friend lands her job. I think the bright colors will make learning new ropes at work a lot easier and get her noticed right away!

I got one for my oldest son last year, who was 11, and he loves it. It did however start to rip near the handle at the end of the year. He doesn't mind that and keeps using it becuase he likes it so much. I bought one this year for my youngest, and in the second week the lining inside cracked at the corner, and of course he had a major spill in the lunch box too. So the food leaked through this crack between the layers. The crack is too small to be able to clean it out, and water gets in and just sits there. So I checked our first bag and it too has cracks in the inner liner, but since there have been no major spills it hasn't been a huge issue. So we love the concept, and the size and the look, but the cracking liners and ripping handles mean I can't really rate it very highly

Great lunch bag

Great lunch bag. I have been using it this summer for beach trips - it is roomy enough to several sandwiches. I also really like that it is big enough for a frozen meal or the larger size tupperware - perfect for taking leftovers to work! It is also adorable and bright- mine is made of all orange drinks.
