Bazura Medium Insulated Lunch Bags are made in the Philippines by a women's cooperative, utilizing used juice containers. These containers are purchased through a network of local school children. Indestructible and non-biodegradable by nature, foil juice packs clog landfills, fields and streets throughout the Philippines. Using clever designs that combine the material's strength & brilliant colors, the co-op helps keep the environment clean via this very cool method of recycling.
About Bazura Bags
Bazura Bags come from a women's co-op in the Philippines that set up a Livelihood Project assisted by the local village council. With almost no capital, the women found a very clever way to support themselves.
Every day, children from the local schools collect over 50,000 used drink containers, called doy packs, then sell them to the co-op. The bags are sanitized and the women sew them together into attractive, durable bags.
Unlike most third world factory workers toiling away in sweatshops, these women are entrepreneurs and shareholders. They work for themselves and have a positive impact on their community and, at the same time, they encourage environmentalism.
Fact
It's estimated that millions of juice containers get thrown in the trash everyday in the Philippines.

Huge but very handy

I bought one of these for my older daughter at the beginning of the school year and it has lasted very well. I love that you don't have to be delicate about washing it. I haven't had any trouble with the zip. But it is enormous, which is a mixed blessing: you can fit any number of food items and, more importantly, ice packs in it, unlike the letter-sized box my other daughter had to put up with, but if you have something squashable, like a banana, it might get beaten up in the backpack. I bought a new one basically just for kicks for my first daughter, and to replace the too-small one for my second. They love the colors too.

Delicious!
This is my second Bazura lunch bag, as I sadly left the first one on a bench at the bus station. It was a no-brainer to buy a second one. I can't say that works well as an "insulated bag" (since I always put it in the fridge at work, I've never tested its ability to keep things hot or cold), but it's the perfect size for me - I can fit two Tupperware containers and an apple, yogurt, napkin, etc. I've found it to be very durable and easy to clean. Best of all it's sooo cute, and I get compliments wherever I go.

Great bag with a great story
I love my bazura lunch bag! It's the perfect size, and the bright fun colors make me smile every day. I've gotten lots of compliments on it from my co-workers. It feels good to be able to tell them about the co-op in the Philippines that makes them from recycled juice boxes.

Looks great!
I can't wait to give it as a surprise gift when my good friend lands her job. I think the bright colors will make learning new ropes at work a lot easier and get her noticed right away!

I got one for my oldest son last year, who was 11, and he loves it. It did however start to rip near the handle at the end of the year. He doesn't mind that and keeps using it becuase he likes it so much. I bought one this year for my youngest, and in the second week the lining inside cracked at the corner, and of course he had a major spill in the lunch box too. So the food leaked through this crack between the layers. The crack is too small to be able to clean it out, and water gets in and just sits there. So I checked our first bag and it too has cracks in the inner liner, but since there have been no major spills it hasn't been a huge issue. So we love the concept, and the size and the look, but the cracking liners and ripping handles mean I can't really rate it very highly

Great lunch bag
Great lunch bag. I have been using it this summer for beach trips - it is roomy enough to several sandwiches. I also really like that it is big enough for a frozen meal or the larger size tupperware - perfect for taking leftovers to work! It is also adorable and bright- mine is made of all orange drinks.

I have been using this bag for a while (maybe over a year now). It is generously sized, easy to clean, and sturdy. I don't know if it really insulates very well; my stuff always goes into a refrigerator as soon as I get to work. The biggest problem is the zipper. It was problematic from the beginning. I have to be very careful to prevent the 2 sides from separating. It is only a problem on one half of the bag. I would not recommend this for children.

Received two bags about 2 weeks ago
Received two bags about 2 weeks ago. Well made, cute, easy to use (zipper is sometimes a little hard to get started from corner). Bags were bigger than expected! We are very pleased with the productand the fact that the materials are recycled and provide work for people who need a source of income!

This sturdy lunch pail is roomy and colorful
This sturdy lunch pail is roomy and colorful. We have ordered two so far, for our daughter and her friend, but only wish we could have received a different design on our second order, instead of another identical one.

I've gotten quite a few compliments on this bag at work. Since my family is from the Phillippines, I thought it was a cool way to keep the trash off the streets. I've seen the horrible amount of trash that accumulates there, the saddest in a lake that my dad learned to swim in. It's a nice size, and will hold a 12oz kleen kanteen, 2 sandwiches, 2 small apples, a tiny tub of grape tomatoes and a full size of salad dressing all at once. I was surprised that after leaving my lunch with a cold klean kanteen (full of water) in there for two hours, the kanteen was still very cold! I would suggest using this with an ice pack or other cold item if you know your lunch needs to stay cold. However, if you put it in the refrigerator, it will easily chill because it's not think or of a traditional insulating material. I love this bag! I put my utensils and napkin in the pocket inside, though you could use it to hold an ice pack. My only complaint is that yesterday, I noticed that the material used as trim was starting to fray in the back, where they had finished it off. I'm going to put some Fray Check on it, which works really well and you can find it in a crafts store. Or use nail polish. It is a little bit disappointing, but since it's an easy fix I am not very troubled by it. I can see this product lasting a long, long time! The other reviewers do mention that it is hard to zip around the corners; it's more like an annoyance than a hassle, though I also recommend not unzipping it all the way.

The medium Bazura bag is the perfect size for lunc
The medium Bazura bag is the perfect size for lunch - enough room for a to-go container or a couple of sandwiches, fruit, snacks, and a bottle of juice or soda. The rectangular shape and two sturdy handles make it easy to carry and store upright with little risk of spilling. It fits easily into the communal fridge at work without taking up too much space, and everyone comments on its fun appearance! Best of all, its made of re-purposed materials by a cooperative. What could be better?
