Design & functionality
Why put 100% biodegradable dog waste into a plastic bag that will take hundreds of years to photodegrade? Using BioBag Dog Waste Bags in place of plastic bags makes sense: the waste and the BioBag can be thrown in your backyard compost, where both items will decompose naturally; the waste and bag can be buried, where micro-organisms will quickly eat both; the waste and bag can be set at curbside with other yard waste where communities collect biodegradable waste for composting. Lightweight & highly compressible, it’s easy to carry a bunch in your pocket while taking the dog for a walk.
Also great for refrigerated food storage (yeah, we know it's kind of gross using a "dog waste" bag for this purpose but it works). Since a BioBag "breathes" without leaking it allows heat and moisture to escape, which helps keep food fresher longer so you waste less food. Try BioBags for storing your fruits and vegetables, then reuse the same bag to line your composting pail or as a trash can liner for smaller trash cans, e.g. bathroom.
Materials
BioBags are made from a bio-polymer called Mater-Bi™, the first 100% biodegradable and compostable bio-polymer ever invented. Mater-Bi™ is made from cornstarch, vegetable oil & other renewable resources. It is completely biodegradable in different environments: in composting, in the soil & in fresh / salt water. 3rd party certifications include US, National & International certificates. BioBag packaging represents the company’s commitment to producing as environmentally friendly as possible and is not only made from natural fibers and recycled material, it’s 100% biodegradable & compostable. Inks and dyes are also soy based.
Sustainability
BioBags are a smart alternative to polyethylene/polypropylene based plastic bags. They’re designed to help people reduce the usage of new and recycled polyethylene-based plastic. Regular usage will help rid plastic bags from our environment. BioBags are made primarily from cornstarch and are certified to be 100% biodegradable and 100% compostable. Regular plastic bags do not biodegrade – they photodegrade whereby the elements break them down into smaller and toxic bits.
Some manufacturers are blending additives to polyethylene to produce bags marketed as “biodegradable” or “degradable”; these merely accelerate the photodegredation process. By rapidly breaking plastic into tiny bits – it gets rid of the eyesore but the plastic remains! Of course these do not meet the ASTM D6400-99 standard for biodegradable and compostable plastic. The claim of biodegradability offered by these products is misleading and should be avoided since we believe they represent the worst possible alternative. Click here for more.
About BioBag
BioBag is the world’s largest selling brand of biodegradable and compostable bags made from the material, Mater-Bi. Widely used for the collection of food waste for composting, BioBags are also popular among consumers who seek to reduce the amount of polyethylene-based plastics in the environment. BioBags are GMO free, certified for use in organic agriculture and CEN certified for restricted use of metals in our vegetable-based inks and dyes. BioBag products meet the ASTM D6400-99 requirements, which is the gold standard for compostable plastic. BioBags are shelf-stable, just like paper towels, yet biodegrade quickly when exposed to nature’s elements and micro-organisms, leaving no harmful residues behind.
Biobags are made in Norway.
Care Instructions
Please note: We get a lot of questions about using these bags for cat litter. Some people have used them for scoopable litter, but they are not large enough to use as a litter box liner. Please note the size of each bag before using these for cat waste.

A relief to ditch those bags!
It is distressing to think about how many bags we were using -- grocery store plastic bags (overkill), sandwich baggies, and so on. It is a big relief to use these biodegradable dog waste bags. I am not rich and had previously resisted the idea of buying bags for dog waste, but I really think it is irresponsible to use so many plastic bags. I am also horrified that most dog waste bags are not biodegradable as these are. They're about 10 cents each when not on sale, so I think we can afford them -- and the peace of mind about our pets' environmental impact.

I and my daughter really like the new and improved doggie waste bags. They are larger thus making them easier to handle.

BioBag...the PERFECT doggie waste bag! I have been on a mission to find an eco friendly bag that wouldn't tear the instant you attempted to use it. Well...I finally found it!!!

Good product
We have two dogs that we walk regularly in our neighborhood. We have a lot to pick up. Often we use one bag for two pick ups. It works. Rarely do they break or have holes and we are not particularly careful with them. I would definitely recommend this product. It's worth it!

Bags could be a bit bigger
The Bio Bag dog waste bags are a great product, but could be a bit longer. They are adequate in size for my dog's waste, but not long enough to tie a knot in. This would be handy on long walks as I am schlepping the bag until I find a waste recepticle.

great bags, need handles

I use these bags for my cat's scoopable litter, so it would be nice to have some larger handles that could be tied tighter so that it doesn't smell. Otherwise, it's a perfect size and works great!

I love the doggie poop bags and especially since they are black and you cannot see the mess inside. I have small dogs,so the small bags are perfect.

NOT usuable for compost crock
I was very excited & looking forward to using this for my compost crock as suggested. I measured my crock. The size should have been great. But the bags are TOTALLY flat. They don't pop open like normal plastic bags. So they wouldn't work for my compost or automatic cat litter box that takes very small plastic bags. They would never work for a small garbage can as suggested. Very disappointed. The next size up is a tall kitchen garbage can.

I like these bags.
Another customer said they rip easily, but that has not been my experience. I wish they came in a roll so I could put them in the bag dispenser that attaches to the leash. Since they don't, I usually just tie a few to the leash handle.

Love Them
I've been using these daily for several weeks now, and will continue to do so indefinitely. I have had no problems with these tearing -- as long as you're not trying to use a pooper scooper with them, or picking up sticks or pokey objects while picking up dog poo, tearing shouldn't be an issue. We have a 13 lb dog & 18 lb dog and one bag holds a days' worth of their poo (I now de-poo our backyard daily, weather permitting). The bag would actually hold twice that much, but I can only pick up that amount in my hand at one time -- then, once you flip the bag inside out, there's not an easy way to add to it. So a package of bags will last us nearly a month, and I think that's a good buy for the purpose. And I really haven't minded switching from using a pooper scooper to using these bags instead.

not at all happy
I am sorry to report that these are not at all worth buying. They literally rip upon starting to open them. I bought two boxes for two separate pet owners, both people had the same reaction.
