Ideal for those of you that have cut plastic bag consumption to the point that you no longer have enough to reuse for dog poop, garbage can liners, yard waste, etc. They're a smart alternative to polyethylene / polypropylene based plastic bags & designed to help people 100% committed to being plastic bag-free.

Design & functionality
Why put 100% biodegradable dog waste into a plastic bag that will take hundreds of years to photodegrade? Using BioBag Dog Waste Bags in place of plastic bags makes sense: the waste and the BioBag can be thrown in your backyard compost, where both items will decompose naturally; the waste and bag can be buried, where micro-organisms will quickly eat both; the waste and bag can be set at curbside with other yard waste where communities collect biodegradable waste for composting. Lightweight & highly compressible, it’s easy to carry a bunch in your pocket while taking the dog for a walk.

Also great for refrigerated food storage (yeah, we know it's kind of gross using a "dog waste" bag for this purpose but it works). Since a BioBag "breathes" without leaking it allows heat and moisture to escape, which helps keep food fresher longer so you waste less food. Try BioBags for storing your fruits and vegetables, then reuse the same bag to line your composting pail or as a trash can liner for smaller trash cans, e.g. bathroom.

Materials
BioBags are made from a bio-polymer called Mater-Bi™, the first 100% biodegradable and compostable bio-polymer ever invented. Mater-Bi™ is made from cornstarch, vegetable oil & other renewable resources. It is completely biodegradable in different environments: in composting, in the soil & in fresh / salt water. 3rd party certifications include US, National & International certificates. Click here for more.

BioBag packaging represents the company’s commitment to producing as environmentally friendly as possible and is not only made from natural fibers and recycled material, it’s 100% biodegradable & compostable. Inks and dyes are also soy based.

Sustainability
BioBags are a smart alternative to polyethylene/polypropylene based plastic bags. They’re designed to help people reduce the usage of new and recycled polyethylene-based plastic. Regular usage will help rid plastic bags from our environment. BioBags are made primarily from cornstarch and are certified to be 100% biodegradable and 100% compostable. Regular plastic bags do not biodegrade – they photodegrade whereby the elements break them down into smaller and toxic bits.

Some manufacturers are blending additives to polyethylene to produce bags marketed as “biodegradable” or “degradable”; these merely accelerate the photodegredation process. By rapidly breaking plastic into tiny bits – it gets rid of the eyesore but the plastic remains! Of course these do not meet the ASTM D6400-99 standard for biodegradable and compostable plastic. The claim of biodegradability offered by these products is misleading and should be avoided since we believe they represent the worst possible alternative. Click here for more.

About BioBag
BioBag is the world’s largest selling brand of biodegradable and compostable bags made from the material, Mater-Bi. Widely used for the collection of food waste for composting, BioBags are also popular among consumers who seek to reduce the amount of polyethylene-based plastics in the environment. BioBags are GMO free, certified for use in organic agriculture and CEN certified for restricted use of metals in our vegetable-based inks and dyes. BioBag products meet the ASTM D6400-99 requirements, which is the gold standard for compostable plastic. BioBags are shelf-stable, just like paper towels, yet biodegrade quickly when exposed to nature’s elements and micro-organisms, leaving no harmful residues behind.

Biobags are made in Norway.

Care Instructions
  • Avoid sharp objects
  • Avoid over-filling
  • Placing excessive wet contents into bags can stimulate bag decomposition within three or four days
  • Extended heat may eventually cause splitting

Please note: We get a lot of questions about using these bags for cat litter. Some people have used them for scoopable litter, but they are not large enough to use as a litter box liner. Please note the size of each bag before using these for cat waste.

I'm not using these for dog poop pickups, but for cleaning out the litter box. I am thrilled that they are biodegradable, but they are on the small side for my purpose. I understand they make a larger size and that's what I'll buy in the future. These bags open easily and are sturdy enough to carry from cellar to breezeway to trash can without tearing.

    Great little bags!

I love this product for the simple fact that they are biodegradable. I have a tabby cat and I use them for daily litter cleaning. It a perfect little size for me. If you have a larger dog, I would recommend the larger size. I also just put a few Command hooks on my apartment wall that they hang from so it's easy access and super clean/organized. The bags that I recently purchased in November 2011 are a little thicker than when I purchased from my local pet store in the summer. I appreciate the slight upgrade in strength.

I LOVE THE BAGS--I HAVE 2 4 MO. OLD PUPPIES, ONE LIKES TO EAT POO(I KNOW-GROSS!), SO I HAVE TO PICK IT UP RIGHT AWAY-EVERY TIME. I LIKE THAT THE BAGS ARE NOT HUGE. I DON'T FEEL GUILTY NOW WHEN I PUT THEM IN THE GARBAGE. JUST ORDERED 10 MORE BOXES, AS WE GO THROUGH THEM VERY FAST. I ALSO LIKE THE 4.95 SHIPPING. THX FOR A GREAT PRODUCT. M from MN

I like using bags that are biodegradable when cleaning up after my dog. However, I would like it if the bags were a bit longer

    Eco-conscious, convenient

    by Anna D - 08/2011

These bags are a fine invention. The fact that they totally break down in the environment is their best feature. They are strong enough to get the job done, and fairly easy to tie up once the poop is scooped. We have a large chocolate lab, though, and a larger size would be a better choice for us. Otherwise, we are very pleased with this product.

I have a 45 lb retriever who poos three times on an average walk. I dropped the first bag while trying to tie a knot in the bag and the bag split open along the bottom seam. The second bag split open at the bottom as I carried it. I then put both bags into a plastic grocery bag and completed the morning walk without further incident (or mess). This is my first time purchasing the bags, perhaps I received a defective batch but if this is typical then these bags are not strong enough or large enough for a medium to large size dog on a ten block walk.

    Wonderful

    by Karen C - 05/2011

These bags are wonderful!! My only complaint is that each bag is only good for one use opposed to the other store brand biodegradable bags which I could use two times by tying a knot after the first "#1" they using the same bag again for the second "#1". Nevertheless I love them!

    Great bags

In the 2 acre dog park in our neighborhood, there are 5 trashcans, all of which are FULL with little plastic poo baggies by 8 pm each night. In an effort to be more eco-conscious, I've bought biodegradable poo bags in the past, but have been dissatisfied with the quality (one set disintegrated, and each time we pulled a bag out tiny bits of bag would go everywhere). These bags are durable. Don't fall apart, good size, will absolutely buy again. I do wish there were some deal where you could buy 4 and get the 5th box free or something, since we run through these pretty fast!

biobag dog waste bags are great!

    by Carolann P - 11/2010

We travel quite a bit with our miniature poodle, Manny. We have biobag dog waste bags with us at all times, while travelling or walking him at home. It's nice to know that these bags will not be clogging up our landfills for years.
