Gecko Traders Recycled XL Koren "Bucket" Bag

I have the yellow and the green, so when the red went on sale....why not? I use these bags in my craft room as they are big enough to hold fabrics and remnants and look much better than the paper shopping bags I've used in the past. Gecko Traders bags are attractive, sturdy and very useful. I have a couple of their smaller bags for shopping.

I love all the bags made of this material. I have several of the Recycled Market Bags which I love for regular grocery shopping, but the Koren Bucket bag is perfect for shopping at Costco where everything is big. I need to get more of these bags. Right now I only have one, but every time I shop at Costco everyone oohs and aahs over it.

I was one of the first to purchase Gecko bags - Market, Wave and Bucket - when they first appeared on this site. I still use them A LOT and am now in awe at how well they have held up given the way they've been used all these years.

Yes, these bags start at $20 plus, but they prove the adage "You get what you pay for". These bags are an investment, not just a purchase.

The Gecko Traders bags are beautifully designed, and I owned a few of them before I realized they cannot be used to transport anything wet, as there is, in fact, the real possibility of color transfer. Granted, it takes a lot to get the color to transfer, but the point is, the color is not permanent and can either rub or bleed off.
Here is how I found out: Worried about this possibility, and wanting to know if the bags could be washed intermittently, I tried washing a couple of them in the machine (cold water, mild detergent, gentle cycle). They came out fine, if a little faded. I did notice some of the color on one of them had been removed in places. I also noticed what looked like color transfer on one bag, so I dabbed at the spot with a little rubbing alcohol. To my horror, the color completely dissolved! Then I decided to try hand scrubbing them to remove the graphics entirely, but it proved to be way too labor intensive. Now they sit in a closet unused, while I try to figure out what to do with them. So sad! If only, if only the recycled fabric had been somehow sealed before the bags were sewn so they could be safely used for the many purposes they are designed for!

I was really disappointed to receive a bucket bag and a wave tote that, basically, stink. There is a pervasive mildew smell that does not air out. I called customer service and they sent a replacement bag that also smells of mildew. I have another bucket tote that is wonderful and does not have the slightest odor, so I wonder if they received a bad shipment. Very disappointing that they send a replacement bag and did not bother to make sure that it did not have the same problem. Shame on you, Reuseit!

This tote is nice for carrying large items or heavy items because it holds up very well. I carry paint supplies between my house and a rental I own. It also cleans up well so spills are nothing to worry about. The only thing I would change is adding an additional color recycled material to tone down the bright green.

this bag is infinitely reusable and perfectly pride-inducing in its colors and carryability. i use it with larger grocery runs and to carry items that don't fit in my smaller, foldable bags, and it works like a dream. i also use it as an overnight bag and for car-trip utility. it's fabulous.

It would be really nice if the handles on a bag were EITHER - long enough to comfortably sling over your shoulder with one hand, OR - short enough to use just your hand without the handles becoming tangled up, or the bag dragging the ground, or flopping in the way so you have to "arrange" them to get to the inside of the bag! Floppy handles in-between these two useful lengths (hand-short or shoulder-long) are just aggravating. What is the point of making the handles of a bag longer than a few inches above the top of the bag if they are not long enough to easily sling over your shoulder?????

I LOVE my Koren "bucket bag." It's seemingly indestructible. I use it for groceries, trips to Home Depot, and gardening. Buy this bag!

The previous reviewers of this product are insane. While I agree that, conceptually, this bad is great, there is one major flaw that trumps all of its positive features. Specifically, the bag comes with a disclosure statement that basically tells you that the ink used in printing the bag for its original, intended use is not stable in its new purpose. As a result, if you purchase this bag, you may very experience what I have experienced: both discoloration my hands (easy to wash off) and staining of your clothes if you sling the bag over your shoulder - both at the shoulder itself and where the bag rubs along your torso. Buyer beware. It would have been helpful to see the disclosure BEFORE purchase.

I love my bucket bag. The pattern is super cute and its a great recycled product to buy. I use it for a beach bag as well as to tote my tennis and soccer equipment. It also makes a fantastic book bag and grocery bag.

I've had this bag for almost 2 years and it is the best. It can practically carry an entire grocery shopping trip worth of stuff. I'm back to order more-- maybe a different style this time.

I really like all 3 of my Gecko bags - roomy, strong, and made of recycled materials. I have given 4 of the wave bags as gifts (in the past) and they are favorites of all recipients.

I purchased the white version of this bag to transport damp laundry from the washer to the outdoor clothesline. It's spacious and stands up on its own, so it works perfectly for my purposes! Because other reviewers had mentioned a smell when the bag was newly unwrapped, I hung mine out on the clothesline for day and then sponged the inside with unscented soap before using. I haven't noticed any smell or had any problems with color transfer. The bag is strong, great looking and easy to fold up when not in use.
