Materials
Made from high-quality, food grade Type 304 stainless steel, which resists stain and rust due to its chromium content, making it a favored material in food processing, dairy and brewing. It's also one of the safest materials for food storage and handling, because it's easy to clean, durable and sanitary. Stainless steel is an iron-containing alloy made from some of the basic elements found in earth: iron ore, silicon, nickel, carbon, nitrogen and manganese.

Properties of the final alloy are tailored by varying amounts of these elements. There are more than 57 stainless steels recognized as standard alloys on the market. High-quality, sanitary-grade 304 stainless steel has low nickel content. It has excellent resistance to stain or rust due to its chromium content, making it a material of choice among the food processing, dairy and brewery industries. It's easy to clean, durable, inert and sanitary.

Lid is made from a European food-grade silicone.

Sustainability
Eliminates the need for use-and-toss plastic baggies, wraps and aluminum foil, saving money and natural resources over time. Since stainless steel containers do not leach harmful chemicals like certain plastics do, they are a healthy, eco-friendly lunch-time alternative.

I\'m going to buy 2 more.

by Terry B - 03/2012

I love the innate MC stainless steel food container. At first I bought them for toting leftovers to work, but they also work as a sandwich container too. My husband keeps stealing them from me for his own lunchs that I need to buy two more. We have put them in the diswasher on the top rack just to be sure & put them in the freezer. No problems & we have been using them regularly for a year now. I do recommend this food container.

Mothball smell in silicone rubber lid

by John C - 11/2011

I bought one of these containers with the red silicone rubber lid. The lid smelled strongly of mothballs, specifically the dichlorobenzene type of mothballs. In addition to a taste I would not want in my food, dichlorodbenzene is listed by the States of Maine and California as a likely carcinogen. Soaking the lid for several hours in hot soapy water (using Dawn dish detergent) did not remove the smell.

Easy to use

by Carolyn C - 10/2011

This is my second time purchasing this container, and I still love them! I find the lids very easy to put on and off, and I love how tightly the top seals. I keep one in my car at all times in case I need to take my leftovers home, and I also use it for taking lunch to work. This is an excellent, well-made product.

WAY TOO SMALL

by melody m - 08/2011

I am confused by the reviews here. This container barely holds anything, how are people using it?? I cannot believe a child could handle the lidding since I barely could.
I wanted it for restaurant leftovers since I bring half of my order home. I am tired of throwing out plastic.
These are the true dimensions from the bottom of the container and not the top lip. 5 3/4 long by 4 1/2 wide. One sandwich would fit, anything along with it would have to be placed on top. I also struggled with this to put the lid on-I would have my food all spilled out of the container by the time the lid was placed correctly. Having to return.

There does not seem to be an option for a large take out container on the site.

Follow-up review

I called the company about my broken lid & they agreed to replace it without any problem & mailed a new one out to me the next day. I also realized that, on my other criticism of the lid being too difficult for my pre-schooler to put back on, when I received the new one, it was much tighter than my prior one and I realized with time it stretches a bit and becomes easier to put on. I thought my preschooler had just eventually learned how to do it, but it actually becomes easier and more pliable, so that's good!

Great idea, but mine lasted only a year

by Margaret L - 06/2011

I use this every day for my four-year-old son's lunch which, for a year, is quite a bit of use. It worked for his hot food because they microwave the kids' food and can't in the stainless and it was nice to have a flat container rather than pre-heat in a thermos. Like other reviewers, it took him a loooong time to be able to put the top on himself (without his teacher's help). We've had this about a year and the top where it folds in has just ripped along the crease. For the money, I had really hoped this would last longer than a year, espeically given that it's supposed to be an alternative to throwing things away. I plan to contact the company, perhaps they'll send a replacement lid. Other than this disappointment, it's been a great container.

Excellent container!

by helen r - 04/2011

I really like these containers. They hold a lot are really eco-friendly. The stainless steel is great and I am happy I don't have to use plastic anymore. I own a lot of these containers and really love them.

Very nice

by Heather B - 02/2011

The lid is very nifty the way it folds into a bowl, but I probably will not use that feature. It's pretty and a good size and lighter than glass. I am very happy with it.

Good size

We use these containers for take out and bringing home leftover from restaurant meals. They are a good size for both uses especially since the silicone seal can be used fully extended for large portions. Not sure how the silicone seals will hold up on the long run but so far so good. We have teamed these containers up with our Built Market tote and Kids Konserve containers to make a versatile "Take Out" kit.

Great for commuters!

I pack my lunch in this container every day and bike with it to work. It will not spill! It is also the perfect size for lunch, and because it is flatter, it fits perfectly in my bag. I recommend it to anyone, but especially those of us who need a container you can toss in your bag without the worry of leakage.

Replacing All Plastic!

by Elspeth M - 08/2010

These things are great. We'd had little success finding non-plastic food storage that actually sealed, but these are it. We've used them for liquids (no spills if you make sure the top is on tight) and tried the top in the microwave, and they do their job. This size is large enough for a good lunch portion of leftovers or a nice big salad. Easy to clean.

Great all around

by Jennifer P - 08/2010

My five year old was so jealous of her dad's container, she wanted one for herself. She was able to open and close it, but there is a slight trick to getting it over the edge all the way before completely putting it on. My husband also reported that it can only heat half the food it holds at a time, but said that was minor issue given how useful it is. Overall, we are very happy with the product.

Well designed & practical

by Joachim R - 07/2010

Got this for hiking and lunches. It does what it claims to do and does so well. I haven't used it with liquids, but am not really planning on doing so. The lid fits snug, pops up well (as designed) but will only hold about half of what's in the box (keep that in mind when you use it with microwaves). Given how tricky it sometimes is to put back on the lid (wouldn't recommend it for children) I figure it must hold liquids as well, but I haven't tried it for hikes (works when you try it out in the kitchen).

Good product, but not for children

by Deborah S - 06/2010

5 out of 5 customers found this review helpful

My intent was to use this stainless steel container in my child's lunch box. However, the top is extremely hard to manipulate (even for an adult), as you need to "stretch" the silicone top so that it fits over the container. The nesting set of three stainless containers with regular "pop on" tops are much better for kids. However, I kept the containers for adult use (fruits and veggie snacks) and it's been great. While we don't use the top to microwave, it's still handy to have an extra bowl when traveling/out on a picnic. It's a good product, just not for kids, and you need to be willing to work with the top, not just pop it on.
