Certain plastics containers tend to leach unwelcome compounds such as Bisphenol A during regular use, exposure to heat, and especially after cleaning. Klean Kanteen is lab tested proven to be 100% free of heavy metals and toxins. Use this adapter kit to convert any Klean Kanteen bottle into a kids sippy cup. Materials
Made from electropolished, non-leaching, high grade 304 L.N. (18/8) stainless steel. Klean Kanteen’s 304 L.N. stainless steel is grade blended specifically for food preparation, dairy, brewing, various medical uses and other applications where mineral migration is unacceptable. The steel is put through a electropolishing process which seals the surface and prevents minerals from migrating into the contents. These reusable, risk-free stainless steel containers do not impart taste and do not leach toxins into their contents. Plastics (polycarbonate) have been shown to leach carcinogens including BPA during regular use, exposure to heat and especially after cleaning. From manufacturing, to use and disposal, plastics pollute our health and environment.

Stainless steel is an iron-containing alloy made from some of the basic elements found on earth: iron ore, chromium, silicon, nickel, carbon, nitrogen, and manganese. Properties of the final alloy are tailored by varying amounts of these elements. There are more than 57 stainless steels recognized as standard alloys on the market. Klean Kanteens are constructed from high quality sanitary grade 304 stainless steel which has a low nickel content. Stainless steel has excellent resistance to stain or rust due to its chromium content making it a material of choice among the food processing, dairy and brewery industries. Stainless steel is easy to clean, durable, inert and sanitary.

Sustainability
100% recyclable. Using Klean Kanteen bottles helps replace wasteful, use-and-toss single serving plastic beverage containers, while saving you money in the process. Reusing durable Klean Kanteen bottles ultimately helps you consume less over time. Furthermore, 304 (or 18/8) stainless steel is a sustainable material, having a long service life, usability in a number of applications and is environmentally friendly. Stainless steel needs less maintenance and its hygienic qualities means that we do not have to use harsh cleaners to get a clean surface. There is little or nothing to dump into the drain that could have an environmental impact.

Fact: over 50% of new stainless steel comes from old re-melted stainless steel scrap (SSINA)

About Klean Kanteen
Klean Kanteen, a family-owned company in Chico, CA, was the first to create a stainless steel beverage container to curb the use of the one-time use water bottle and in response to credible reports about chemicals in common plastic drinking and food containers. Since 2004, Klean Kanteen has been informing the public about the health and environmental hazards of eating and drinking from plastic containers at consumer and trade shows such as Green Festivals, Outdoor Retailer Market, Natural Products Expo West and East, Interbike Expo, Whole Children Whole Planet and many others.

Klean Kanteen visits their manufacturing facilities 4-5 times per year and perform audits every six months to ensure all of our products are produced with respect for the environment and fair labor standards, including: the ethical treatment of factory workers, child labor, wages/benefits, health and safety, etc. Additionally, they do regular lab testing on random shipments through a local lab in the U.S. to ensure their products are made per their specifications, are free of hazardous substances such as lead, and do not leach chromium, manganese, etc.

Care Instructions
Dishwasher safe.

    Ideal for toddler's

    by warren p - 04/2010

Our 1 year old uses this sippy adapter on the 12oz Kanteen all the time, however lately he's been interested in using a regular open cup. But you can't go wrong with this when in the car or at play. I feel it definitely keeps him more hydrated due to the fact that he has H2O available at all times without us having to worry about spills in the house. If you use it daily, and all day, be sure to wash it once or twice per day. There was a time I forgot to wash it, and by the end of the second day I noticed a little mold starting under the clear plastic ring inside the adapter. Of course this was likely due to our water having zero chlorine content, as we are on well water. Buy this item with confidence.

    Good product

    by Katie R - 03/2010

I like these sippy cups because everything stays cold for so much longer. They do leak though but any sippy cup that says it is leak proof is lying because i haven't had a single one yet that doesn't! So with that in mind it is a good product but has some minor problems.

I bought these for my kids, but they always leaked

    by Jennifer M - 08/2009

I bought these for my kids, but they always leaked. I had to go back to regular (i.e., plastic) sippy cups until they were old enough for the klean kanteen sports caps (which they now use all the time, but the sports caps are not spill-proof and they make an awkward/distracting noise in their classrooms at school).

    by rio d - 08/2009

GREAT stainless container. Avent spout SUCKS terribly. All it does is LEAK. LEAK and LEAK all over the place. I've just about had it! I would NOT recommend this container with the Avent spout at all.

I have been using these for about a year, and the lids can leak-I think when the clear part is wet and is attached to the green part. Also, I wish they sold just the black part of the lid separately as my child tends to drop her cup and eventually breaks the lid.

    Crack crack crack!

Crack crack crack! I\'ve had two out of three adapters crack now. The first cracked and Reusable bags sent me a new kit. That one cracked too. (Just the black ring around the bottle cracks). No other rings fit as well (I tried the Avent white rings that come with the Avent bottles that I use...I figured they should work because the rubber piece is from Avent and fits inside the black ring. Those leak. So, I\'m not happy. I wish just the black rings were sold separately. At least then I could let my son use the bottle as a sippy cup like it was intended for. Now I will just use this 12 oz bottle when he\'s older. It\'s not a total waste but still....

    by sarah l - 03/2009

I love that my whole family has switched over to stainless steel! The only problem that we are having with the adaptor is that the green mouthpiece leaks through the small opening. When my 2 year old holds it upside-down at the angle of the mouthpiece, it is fine. When he holds it upside-down angled down at the air hole and it starts dripping like mad. He thinks it's funny... Anyone have any suggestions?

I might change this review after "further review"

I might change this review after "further review" however here's my experience: I had my son use the sippy cup and he dropped it on the kitchen floor. The adapter cracked and rendered the cup (as a sippy cup) useless. The cracked adapter leaked juice all over his little body. Now, I am not 100% sure this happened due to the fall or if it arrived that way. Reusable Bags quickly sent me a new adapter. I have purchased two bottles. I'm eager to see how they hold up to a toddler's "abuse". My son is 11 months old. I was so happy to get him these cool sippy cups. I bought two 40 oz ones for myself and for his daddy too, so my son can feel like he's drinking out of big person bottles. I love the cool design and the durability of the stainless steel bottles. I just hope the adapters hold up well! I'll let y'all know how the next two adapters go.

The sippy cup works great for my 12 month old

    by Bonnie T - 12/2008

The sippy cup works great for my 12 month old. I have the neoprene cover to keep her drinks cold and not her hands; she really liked it because she could swing it around by the handle.

    by Holly L - 11/2008

I am happy with the attachments. I decided to purchase the 12 oz.water bottle and the sippy attachments separately so I could use them as water bottles when my son outgrows the sippy. No problems with leaks.
