Design & functionality
Klean Kanteen is a reusable, risk-free stainless steel container that does not leach toxins into its contents. Reusable, lightweight & durable. The wide-mouth accommodates ice cubes and makes cleaning easy. Loop cap can be attached to bags and is easy to carry with one finger.
Materials
Made from electropolished, non-leaching, high grade 304 L.N. (18/8) stainless steel. Klean Kanteen’s 304 L.N. stainless steel is grade blended specifically for food preparation, dairy, brewing, various medical uses and other applications where mineral migration is unacceptable. The steel is put through a electropolishing process which seals the surface and prevents minerals from migrating into the contents. These reusable, risk-free stainless steel containers do not impart taste and do not leach toxins into their contents. Plastics (polycarbonate) have been shown to leach carcinogens including BPA during regular use, exposure to heat and especially after cleaning. From manufacturing, to use and disposal, plastics pollute our health and environment.
Stainless steel is an iron-containing alloy made from some of the basic elements found on earth: iron ore, chromium, silicon, nickel, carbon, nitrogen, and manganese. Properties of the final alloy are tailored by varying amounts of these elements. There are more than 57 stainless steels recognized as standard alloys on the market. Klean Kanteens are constructed from high quality sanitary grade 304 stainless steel which has a low nickel content. Stainless steel has excellent resistance to stain or rust due to its chromium content making it a material of choice among the food processing, dairy and brewery industries. Stainless steel is easy to clean, durable, inert and sanitary.

100% recyclable. Using Klean Kanteen bottles helps replace wasteful, use-and-toss single serving plastic beverage containers, while saving you money in the process. Reusing durable Klean Kanteen bottles ultimately helps you consume less over time. Furthermore, 304 (or 18/8) stainless steel is a sustainable material, having a long service life, usability in a number of applications and is environmentally friendly. About Klean Kanteen
Klean Kanteen, a family-owned company in Chico, CA, was the first to create a stainless steel beverage container to curb the use of the one-time use water bottle and in response to credible reports about chemicals in common plastic drinking and food containers. Since 2004, Klean Kanteen has been informing the public about the health and environmental hazards of eating and drinking from plastic containers at consumer and trade shows such as Green Festivals, Outdoor Retailer Market, Natural Products Expo West and East, Interbike Expo, Whole Children Whole Planet and many others.
Klean Kanteen visits their manufacturing facilities 4-5 times per year and perform audits every six months to ensure all of their products are produced with respect for the environment and fair labor standards, including: the ethical treatment of factory workers, child labor, wages/benefits, health and safety, etc. Additionally, they do regular lab testing on random shipments through a local lab in the U.S. to ensure their products are made per their specifications, are free of hazardous substances such as lead, and do not leach chromium, manganese, etc.

Care Instructions
Klean Kanteens are dishwasher safe (washing caps in the dishwasher is not recommended because H2O can squeeze into the cap) or easy to clean with a bottle brush and mild soap. We recommend an old fashioned cleaner: white vinegar and baking soda. Stainless steel does not rust. If your bottle appears to have rusted, it is a harmless residue left behind from the electro-polishing process. Electro charges remove fine particles from the stainless steel surface, remove impurities and seal it. Electrolytes left behind sometimes turn a rust color, but it's harmless.

Nice product
The kanteens appear to be safe--that is #1 priority. I wish they were prettier/had designs. Very boring looking & interchangable--easy to grab the wrong one.

I got two for my boys, ages 6 and 3 to take to sch
I got two for my boys, ages 6 and 3 to take to school. They're a good size and we like the sports top that we got too, but if they don't push it down completely, it leaks. They're getting the hang of it but it can be tough for kids.

finally a bottle that lasts. I have owned a variety of different high end bottles, but they all have had the same problem. If anything gets left in them long enough to go bad (an easy mistake with kids!) them smell forever. These Klean Kanteen are the only ones that I can get anything compleatly out of, and without any special products. They work fine in the dishwasher.

Klean Kanteens are what every water bottle should
Klean Kanteens are what every water bottle should aspire to be. This thing would be great on camping trips. If you needed to boil water, you could do it right in the bottle. (Make sure you remove the plastic lid first!) Its light weight, about the same weight as my old plastic bottles without the nasty plastic taste. I have tried many different canteens, and this one is exactly what I have been looking for.

Perfect
Perfect. I fill these 1/3 way with water and lay them on their side in the freezer to make a giant ice cube (when I sat one upright in the freezer, I think the bottom expanded a bit). My kids love them, although the old style sports cap is a little hard for them to open. We all think the sucking sound is a funny, but if you press on the little dot, it goes away, but we like the extra noise!

I love the Klean Kanteen-I've bought one for each
I love the Klean Kanteen-I've bought one for each member of the family. The stainless steel leaves water tasting fresh- no strange odors or after taste like other bottles. The amount of plastic water bottles we've saved with a family of 5 is impressive. They're an investment that quickly pays for itself- think how many times you pick up bottled water at a couple bucks each. Small size is perfect for lunch boxes.

Great product!
Great product! I love putting orange juice in it, and also taking it to work, because although we have a water dispenser, we almost never have any cups. This solves that problem! I like that I don't have to worry about dropping it, like a ceramic or glass cup, and that it fits in my lunch bag perfectly. I also use this at home, instead of regular glasses. It's become my favorite drink container.

I purchased this bottle, along with three others, for my son. It is the perfect size to fit into his lunch box for school. My son love his Klean Kanteen because it "looks cool and the water tastes great." I love his bottle because I know that he is not ingesting chemicals that leach into the water when using a plastic bottle. I will continue to shop at reusablebags.com. Very good size to grab-and-go to fit in a purse
Very good size to grab-and-go to fit in a purse. The metal allows for holding hot beverages, but because there's no insulation, be careful of handling. I haven't noticed much of a smell from the metal nor the plastic, so overall, it's what I expected and I'm happy with it, especially during the holiday sale price.

Gave this to my elderly mom for her birthday. She wanted something to replace the plastic bottles she used to carry around just in case she needed to take a pill. This one fits in her purse. She loves it.
