Design and Functionality
Klean Kanteen is a reusable, risk-free stainless steel container that does not leach toxins into its contents. Reusable, lightweight & durable. The wide-mouth accommodates ice cubes and makes cleaning easy. Loop caps on sports caps and screw on loop tops can be attached to bags with a carabiner and is easy to carry with one finger.
Klean Kanteen recently altered the design of their sport cap to allow for better air ventilation and easier drinking. Air is allowed into the bottle via an air vent, which is plugged with a small silicone plug. The plug helps to keep the water in, but it is not leak proof.
Materials
Made from electropolished, non-leaching, high grade 304 L.N. (18/8) stainless steel. Klean Kanteen’s 304 L.N. stainless steel is grade blended specifically for food preparation, dairy, brewing, various medical uses and other applications where mineral migration is unacceptable. The steel is put through a electropolishing process which seals the surface and prevents minerals from migrating into the contents. These reusable, risk-free stainless steel containers do not impart taste and do not leach toxins into their contents. Plastics (polycarbonate) have been shown to leach carcinogens including BPA during regular use, exposure to heat and especially after cleaning. .
Sustainability
100% recyclable. Using Klean Kanteen bottles helps replace wasteful, use-and-toss single-serving plastic beverage containers, while saving you money in the process. Reusing durable Klean Kanteen bottles ultimately helps you consume less over time. Furthermore, 304 (or 18/8) stainless steel is a sustainable material, having a long service life, usability in a number of applications and is environmentally friendly. Stainless steel needs less maintenance and its hygienic qualities means that we do not have to use harsh cleaners to get a clean surface.

Klean Kanteen, a family-owned company in Chico, CA, was the first to create a stainless steel beverage container to curb the use of the one-time use water bottle and in response to credible reports about chemicals in common plastic drinking and food containers. Since 2004, Klean Kanteen has been informing the public about the health and environmental hazards of eating and drinking from plastic containers at consumer and trade shows such as Green Festivals, Outdoor Retailer Market, Natural Products Expo West and East, Interbike Expo, Whole Children Whole Planet and many others.
Klean Kanteen visits their manufacturing facilities 4-5 times per year and perform audits every six months to ensure all of their products are produced with respect for the environment and fair labor standards, including: the ethical treatment of factory workers, child labor, wages/benefits, health and safety, etc. Additionally, they do regular lab testing on random shipments through a local lab in the U.S. to ensure their products are made per their specifications, are free of hazardous substances such as lead, and do not leach chromium, manganese, etc.

Care Instructions
- Klean Kanteens are easy to clean with a bottle brush and mild soap. We recommend an old fashioned cleaner: white vinegar and baking soda.
- Stainless steel does not rust. If your bottle appears to have rusted, it is a harmless residue left behind from the electro-polishing process. Electro charges remove fine particles from the stainless steel surface, remove impurities and seal it. Electrolytes left behind sometimes turn a rust color, but it's harmless.
- Do not freeze bottle. The force of liquids expanding as they freeze can cause your Klean Kanteen to become deformed and can also break the weld that holds the bottle together. Freezing any Klean Kanteen will void the one-year warranty against manufacturer defects.
- If your sport caps occasionally make a chirping or squeaking noise when they may be screwed on too tight. To alleviate this problem, try slightly loosening your cap before you drink.

I love my Klean Kanteen! If only I hadn't lost my first one - but I ordered another one which was shipped very quickly and now I use it every time I go to town as I did before. The 18 oz size is not to heavy to carry around with me and I'm glad to have a stainless steel container instead of plastic and also to be able to drink my own well water instead of city tap water. I like the streamlined appearance of the bottle and the convenience of the sippy cap.

My 5th Klean Kanteen
This 18 ounce bottle is just right to carry with me on shopping trips, doctors office, etc. Not too heavy and when placed in a Built water bottle tote it is easy to carry. Love it!

Could be better
Having to buy these again because yet another one broke. The original one I have from 3-4years ago is still going strong but any painted ones I've bought since then are not made of the same quality. They seem to be thinner and always break at the joint near the bottom of the bottles. Very disappointed with kleen kanteen and am giving this plain one a last chance.

Excellent water bottle
This was a replacement for the same water bottle that we lost. We use these water bottles constantly - for biking, walking, taking to meetings, in the car, etc. The stainless really holds up to abuse and washes easily! I even knit covers for ours.

I love Kleen Kanteen
I have several Kleen Kanteens of different sizes and I love all of them. I take my 40oz Kanteen to work every day and the two 18oz Kanteens when I go hiking. They last extremely well and the only reason I just bought another 18oz Kanteen is because I lost one of two I owned. I highly recommend this product.

nice water bottle
There are many nice design features you don't realize until using it: I really is leak proof and it is easy to open, and to clean; probably just about the right size for daily use, although athletes in action (eg soccer players) may want more than 18 oz. Overall, great product which allows us to avoid plastic water bottles!

Love it
A great water bottle: very easy to carry around, and yet enough water for me to actually quench my thirst without having to refill constantly. I also use it to "refill" my kids' smaller water bottles when we're out and about.

Great size
Love my KK's, they are great reusable bottles...their 12 oz size is perfect for kids. The 18 oz is great for older kids/toddlers as well, my son can guzzle down the 12oz in no time and then he's left with nothing. The 18 oz doesn't take up much more space than the 12 so I really like that. I have a 27 oz but it's annoyingly/awkwardly tall. I'm going to add another one of the 18 oz to our collection. I love our 40oz too.

Great size for summer!

Kleen Kanteen is great!
I enjoyed having a Kleen Kanteen 18 oz Stainless Steel water bottle for quite awhile, but then - I lost it! Now I have re-ordered and received a new one - very promptly - from Reusable Bags and am so happy not to have to drink out of a plastic bottle anymore. The 18 oz. size fits perfectly in my fanny pack pocket, is light-weight, and easy to keep clean (kleen).
