Design & Functionality
A wide-mouth version of Klean Kanteen‘s highly-rated, 100% BPA-free, stainless steel reusable bottle. It provides a great alternative for those who love the wider mouth of standard cups but want to avoid polycarbonate (plastics). This affordable bottle works with most hiking water filters, and the slim design fits comfortably into bottle and cup holders - great for on-the-go. The wide mouth is perfect for filling the bottle with ice cubes and makes it extremely easy to clean. Cap is interchangeable with any other Klean Kanteen Wide cap.
Materials
Made from electro-polished, non-leaching, high-grade 18/8 stainless steel blended specifically for food preparation, dairy, brewing and various other applications where mineral migration is unacceptable. Plastics (polycarbonate) have been shown to leach carcinogens including BPA after cleaning and with regular use and exposure to heat.
Stainless steel is an iron-containing alloy made from some of the basic elements found in earth: iron ore, chromium, silicon, nickel, carbon, nitrogen and manganese. Properties of the final alloy are tailored by varying amounts of these elements. There are more than 57 stainless steels recognized as standard alloys on the market. Klean Kanteens are constructed from high-quality sanitary-grade 304 stainless steel, which has low nickel content. Stainless steel has excellent resistance to stain or rust due to its chromium content, making it a material of choice among the food processing, dairy and brewery industries. It’s easy to clean, durable, inert and sanitary.

Klean Kanteen is a family-owned company in Chico, CA. It was the first company to create a stainless steel beverage container to curb the use of single-use water bottles and to respond to credible reports about chemicals in common plastic drinking & food containers. Since 2004, Klean Kanteen has informed the public about the health and environmental hazards of eating and drinking from plastic containers at consumer and trade shows such as Green Festivals, Outdoor Retailer Market, Natural Products Expo West and East, Interbike Expo, Whole Children Whole Planet and many others.
Klean Kanteen visits their manufacturing facilities in China 4-5 times per year and performs audits every six months to ensure all their products are produced with respect for the environment and fair labor standards, including: the ethical treatment of factory workers, child labor, wages/benefits, health and safety, etc. Additionally, they do regular lab testing on random shipments through a local lab in the U.S. to ensure their products are made per their specifications, are free of hazardous substances such as lead and do not leach chromium, manganese, etc.
Care Instructions
Klean Kanteens are dishwasher safe (washing caps in the dishwasher is not recommended because H2O can squeeze into the cap) or easy to clean with a bottle brush and mild soap. We recommend an old-fashioned cleaner: white vinegar and baking soda.
Stainless steel does not rust. If your bottle appears to have rusted, it is a harmless residue left behind from the electro-polishing process. (Electro charges remove fine particles from the stainless steel surface, remove impurities and seal it. Harmless electrolytes are left behind and sometimes turn a rust color).

Stainless Wide Mouth Loop Cap
I bought 4 wide mouth bottles a few months ago all with loop caps. I have been using them regularly and wash them in the dishwasher (using a low temperature setting), putting the bottle itself on the bottom rack and the bottle loop cap on the top rack. Perhaps one of the loop caps is defective since while using the bottle I first started noticing foam coming out of inside the cap near the rubber seals. Also since the begining this loop cap always tended to be a little more dificult to thread in on the bottle than the others. After a few months of washing this loop cap in the top rack of the dishwater I noticed one day that water was shaking inside the loop cap itself. This water refuses to come out, therefore I stopped using the cap since it must have soapy water inside. I'm not sure why this happened, perhaps it was just the result of a defective loop cap.

Love it!
Easy to clean, looks nice. Definitely would recommend it to anyone in the market for a new water bottle. Unlike some other bottles, the water has a clean, pure taste. No odd taste or odor to it.

Love this!
Love this! Doesn't leak, easy to clean with the Sigg bottle brush I also ordered, doesn't hold smells/tastes. I fill it with juice in the morning and just rinse it to refill it with water all day and it works great. It does sweat like crazy - I think they sell a sleeve for it, but I just pull a bandanna through the handle in the lid and wrap it in that.

These are just great
These are just great. We got the 27 oz size and they are the perfect size for taking on trips so we don't have to buy bottled water on vacation. The wide mouth is great for adding ice. We also got the medium insultating sleeve and that fits perfectly. Very happy with this purchase.
