Design & Functionality
The Laptop Lunch Bento Box was modeled after the traditional bento box, a container used in Japanese culture to pack single-portion takeout meals. Updating this classic design, the Laptop Lunch Bento Box integrates a large snap-shut tray, five colorful, modular containers and stainless steel utensils. All the pieces fit together like a puzzle, making it easy to identify a missing item from the set. The five food containers vary in size and two come with lids, enabling parents to pack dry and wet foods securely. The un-lidded containers are designed to accommodate dry foods such as vegetable sticks, crackers, cereal, sliced apple, etc. The lidded containers are perfect for wet foods, such as soups, yogurt, cottage cheese, and dressings. All of the food containers fit into a larger snap-shut tray.
The choice to include only two lids was intentional – surveys indicated that usually one wet food was packed in kid's lunches, and the search for mismatched lids was the number one frustration for parents that packed lunches in reusable containers. The Laptop Lunch Bento Box's unique design alleviates these issues. And from a kid’s perspective, the presentation is exciting. It's more fun to open a bag and see nicely presented food, as opposed to a row of lids.

Materials
Dishwasher safe food containers are made using plastics (polypropylene and polyethylene) that are FDA-approved for food use, and will not leach harmful chemicals into food. No binding agents, plasticizers, or other materials suspected to contain carcinogens or endocrine disrupters are used to make the Laptop Lunch Bento Box.
Sustainability
One of the main design objectives for the Laptop Lunch Bento Box was to provide parents with a sustainable alternative to the wasteful, single-use containers so prevalent in today's school lunches. Home made lunches are not only more nutritious than prepackaged lunches, but they tend to cost less as well. It has been estimated that a person taking a disposable lunch to school will spend an average of $4.02 per day or $723.60 per school year. A person who packs a waste-free lunch will spend about $2.65 a day or $477.00 per school year. That equates into about $250 in savings per person/year.

Laptop Lunches Product Name and Number
My 2 boys have been using the same Laptop Lunches Bento Box for 3 years and we have not had any breakages or other product problems. We will order new ones this year only because both boys have been quite rough on the case and they are starting to look a little ragged. These are great products and I would recommend them to anyone who cares about the reduction of waste.

Keeping wet foods separate
I just read everyone else's reviews, and if I am concerned about too much moisture in the open containers, I just put a piece of paper towel around or on top of the wet food (ex: carrots or olives) and then there is no problem. If I have something really wet, or something that has to stay really dry, then I put it in the container with the lid.

A Great Investment
My 8 year old son has used the laptop lunch box every school day for two years, and the quality has held up great. He has food allergies so we have also taken it with us to restaurants and everywhere we've needed to bring food for him. It's "cool" looking, and he's still really happy with the way it looks. I hooked a $1 neoprene "drink huggy" onto the side and that is what I pack his daily school "snack time" snack in (wrapped in brown wax paper bags), as there wasn't enough room for an extra snack in the lunch box. We have gotten our money's worth out of this far and beyond my expectations; it's a great product and a great investment.

These are great for portion control, but mine was broken when I got it and is continues to chip away. They are on the small side, so you have to get creative with your packing. I still use it everyday!

LOVE that my child is able to just open up his lunch and begin eating! No need to open/close lids. Also, the box offers a "clean" space (versus laying items on the lunch table). I highly recommend this product!

I love these for travel trips with the kids. I pack the Bento Box with lots of different things. The kids are always excited about "what" is in it and no junk food stops needed on the way. When they are finish they just shut the lid and no mess. They are good solid containers and easy to wash. As the kids get older I will use for lunch at school.

I thought this box would be so great in theory, but it is a bit impractical. Only one box has a lid and a miniature one comes with one as well. All boxes should come with one as option, especially with the price, which I think is a little hefty for a bunch of plastic boxes and a non-illustrated book of recipes. But its still a cute idea to have a bento lunch for my son.

This box worked well for my preschooler because I carried it level until we got to school and then put in the school fridge until lunch. She then didn't have to worry about removing lids and because it was set out attractively she ate more of her vegetables etc. However I actually bought this for my school age daughter who tried it for one day caryying it in her backpack to school and when she opened it at lunch everythng had got mixed together - strawberry juice on stuff and she didn't eat anything so we never used again. Now everyone is in school it is sitting unsed in the cupboard. Maybe if each compartment had a lid it would work but the lids aren't easy to remove for a kid. Plus then its as many little pots and lids that i have to wash as with the current pots i use.

I love my laptop lunchbox and use it every day. I constantly get compliments from my coworkers when they see it -- especially about how "cute" and appetizing my lunch looks. It's fun to pack my lunch and see what I can fit into the different containers; it encourages variety and portion control. This product may be marketed for children, but I'm 32 and I've also bought laptop lunchboxes for my brother and friends -- who all love theirs too.

Perfect for after-school activities!

This Bento box is great for my kids' after school activities, especially when they are not able to be home for dinner. I love all of the separate compartments and containers. It allows for great variety in a cold lunch. I do, however, wish that each container had a lid as it is unlikely that a child using this box will keep it flat before they open it to eat. Also, it is difficult to open, even for an adult! It could be that not all are difficult to open, but the one I have definitely is. If each container had it's own lid, I would give this product 5++++++ Stars!!

I really like the idea of this lunch box. I have found a way to include an ice pack to keep the food cool. My daughter likes it but she says it is very messy. I think this is due to the fact that there is only one larger section with a lid. I do wish there was a way to send a whole piece of fruit within the larger outer carrier. I would buy this again but I have a different bag that I send when I need to include larger or items that do not fit in the bento stlye containers.

AWFUL product in terms of design. I really don't understand where all the rave reviews are coming from. I just received 2 of these lunch boxes in the mail after seeing them advertised in a parenting magazine. I liked the idea of a compact, environmentally friendly lunch box. But when I opened it, I was dismayed to see that: 1. All of the containers don't have lids!! I then reviewed their website and saw in the FAQ that their "research" showed that most parents only pack 1 wet item for their child at lunch. Not me. I usually pack 2-3 wet items. Not having enough lids on all the containers is not realistic. 2. The box takes a bit of practice to open. 3. The containers that DO have lids are hard to open. 4. Realized it would have been nice to have a built in handle. I called the company and they are going to give me a full refund......however, they are trying to say that I am responsible for paying shipping costs to send it back, because "the company doesn't want to lose money." Umm....yeah...but what about the unsatisfied customer? Should *I* be the one to lose money because their product didn't meet my expectations?? I think not.
