A sustainable choice to reduce waste and save money – soft, 100% organic cotton reusable pantyliners save hundreds of disposables from landfills. Machine washable.

Why It Gets Our Seal of Approval

    • Replaces hundreds of disposable tampons and pads
    • Made of soft, absorbent 100% organic cotton
    • Ultra-light protection

“Recommended as an Eco-Friendly Choice” - Grist, November 2008

“How to Have Happier Periods” - BUST Magazine, October 2008

When we heard about Lunapads, we were intrigued – and concerned about making such a big lifestyle change. Disposable tampons and pads contribute tremendous waste to our environment, but the idea of reusable menstrual products seemed impractical. Fortunately, seeing how attractive and well-made Lunapads were won us over.

These innovative reusable Pads are top-of-line, in terms of both quality and convenience. Made from the softest, most absorbent organic cotton, with a protective nylon lining, Lunapads offer a simple way to make the switch to reusable pads and pantyliners. Like practicing recycling or remembering to bring your own shopping bags to the market with you, washing Lunapads is admittedly a little more work than just throwing away used pads and tampons.

Even if you’re not ready for a complete change, adding one Lunapad to your monthly routine can be a step in the right direction.
Dimensions
8” L x 6.5” W

Design & Functionality
Lunapads Pantyliners are designed for ultra-light protection for daily discharge, very light menstrual flow, or as backup protection for other feminine hygiene products, such as the DivaCup. Unlike Lunapads Pads, Pantyliners do not have an extra layer of nylon lining and are not compatible with Lunapad Liners.

Reusable pantyliners from Lunapads are a great way to start minimizing waste from disposable pads and tampons. If you’re like many women, making the switch to reusable menstrual pads can seem daunting. Using Lunapads Pantyliners help reduce waste during your monthly period. If you're new to Lunapads, check out their Intro Kit.

Materials
Lunapads Pantyliners have a 100% organic cotton flannel base, topped with a panel made of 2 layers of 100% organic cotton fleece.

Organic cotton is a far superior alternative to chemical-laden conventional cotton. More and more farmers around the world are growing cotton without costly, harmful chemicals. Their yield is high and the quality of the cotton they grow is equal to or better than conventionally grown cotton. Their methods support biodiversity and healthy ecosystems, improve the quality of soil and often use less water.

Sustainability
Each Lunapad replaces hundreds of disposable tampons and sanitary napkins over the course of its lifetime. Used and cared for as directed, Lunapads last for at least 3 to 5 years, and possibly far longer. Each year, women dispose of more than 20 billion disposable pads and tampons – that’s 10,000 menstrual pads and tampons in an average woman’s lifetime – according to waste consultant Franklin Associates. Disposable pads and tampons (including packaging and applicators) also require tremendous resources to produce, and can take hundreds of years to degrade in landfills.

In addition to supporting a cleaner planet by curbing the environmental impact of disposable tampons and pads, Lunapads also save you money. Replacing disposables with Lunapads could save you anywhere between $200 to $1,000. Click here to see a cost comparison.

About Lunapads International
Lunapads International is a women-owned small business based in Vancouver, Canada. Their mission is to help women have healthier and more positive experiences of their menstrual cycles, and by extension, their bodies overall. Lunapads are made in Vancouver at a small, family-owned garment manufacturing facility adjacent to the Lunapads offices. Partial proceeds of Lunapads sales benefit Pads4Girls, a unique program that provides girls in developing nations with sustainable menstrual supplies, thereby helping them to stay in school.

Care Instructions
Lunapads can be handwashed or machine washed. Soak or rinse Lunapads in cold water prior to washing them with your regular detergent. Some women add a cleaning agent to the soaking process, but this is optional. Washed feminine pads may be air or machine-dried. They will shrink somewhat if you put them in the dryer, as they are made from cotton, but it makes them nice and soft! If staining is a concern, there are many effective non-chlorine based cleaning products available at your local natural foods store. Do not use chlorine bleach or fabric softeners as it will degrade the quality of the pads and harm the environment.

We recommend washing Lunapads once prior to using - not only does this ensure they are clean for you but it also helps to increase the absorbency.

Lunapads may be returned to us in their original condition. We accept returns on unopened, unused personal items only.

Perfect

by Rachel M - 02/2011

This feels about the same as a regular pad, except I don't feel guilty about throwing a pad away after I'm done using it, not to mention all the packaging that comes with each box. I suggest getting the BunchaFarmers Stain Remover to wash these, you can find it on the lunapads website. Also, if you need to change the pad and you're out, they've got a waterproof carrying pouch that you can use to keep soiled pantyliners in until you get home. And no, I don't work for lunapads, I just love them!

Best reusable cloth pad design.

by Kara E - 09/2010

In comparison to other reusable cloth pads (e.g. Party in My Pants), these have the best shape and feel. They're soft, stay in place well, and are easy to clean. However, they are bulkier than disposable panty liners - BUT are really comfortable, thus the extra bulk is not uncomfortable. They work great in conjunction with the Diva Cup too. Also, the Lunapad website offers more colors and sizes.

Great alternative!

These are a wonderful alternative to disposable pads. I used them during my last period and will definitely be buying more in the near future. Definitely more comfortable. The white ones do stain, but that doesn't bother me.

I have sensitive skin, so this product is well worth the purchase! I'll be buying more in the very near future just to keep from washing this one so frequently during those days!

Lunapads products are simply fantastic!

Lunapads products are simply fantastic!!! I am so elated that my two favourite sites are coming together like this! I've used Lunapads, Lunapanties and the Diva Cup for several years now, and I will never go back to disposables. Switching was not hard at all, and the pads and panties are SO much more comfortable than disposables. My daughter also recently started using Lunapads, and prefers them over paper products by far. To celebrate the start of her menses, we donated a kit for a girl in a developing nation through the Lunapads website, too.

Thank you for such a wonderful product! I am relieved to finally find a responsible alternative menstrual product for my cycle. Last month, I had to throw away a disposable pad. It made me feel sick! Never again. Lunapads are so comfortable. And washing them is so easy! I only wish I'd found you sooner. Thank you!

Just wanted to drop you a note and tell you how great I think my Lunapads are. I was really surprised at how absorbent the pads are, and I love the fact that they don’t hold moisture close to your body, very much unlike plastic pads. And best of all, I feel like I'm doing the landfills a favor when I toss my pads in with my laundry every month. Thanks!
