Materials
LunchBots are made from high-quality, food-grade Type 304 stainless steel. It resists stain and rust due to its chromium content, making it a favored material in food processing, dairy and brewing. It's also one of the safest materials for food storage and handling, because it's easy to clean, durable and sanitary. LunchBots have been tested and certified by Metallurgical Laboratories Type 300-series stainless steel and are lead free. View the lab results.

Stainless steel is an iron-containing alloy made from some of the basic elements found in earth: iron ore, silicon, nickel, carbon, nitrogen and manganese. Properties of the final alloy are tailored by varying amounts of these elements. There are more than 57 stainless steels recognized as standard alloys on the market. High-quality, sanitary-grade 304 stainless steel has low nickel content. It has excellent resistance to stain or rust due to its chromium content, making it a material of choice among the food processing, dairy and brewery industries. It's easy to clean, durable, inert and sanitary.

Sustainability
LunchBots eliminate the need for use-and-toss plastic baggies, wraps and aluminum foil, saving money and natural resources over time. I loved the old version of these (5 stars), which were more rectangular.
These new ones have rounded corners and my bread (sandwiches) no longer fit in them.
I'm disappointed.

I still love the sturdy nature and easy washability but I really wish they didn't change the shape.

A+

by Laura H - 03/2012

Love this little box. It came smaller than I expected, but it's working out perfectly to hold three snacks but keep them separate from each other. Very handy, love that it's stainless steel, easy to open (for older kids 6+?), easy to clean in dishwasher.

Good for snacks - not leak-proof

by Camille K - 02/2012

These containers are perfectly sized and easy to clean since they are stainless steel. However, they are only good for sandwiches or snacks, rather than anything "wet" or "leaky" since the lids are not leak-proof.

good value

We've been using these for school lunches, snack packs when out and about on the weekend, and for small odds & ends snack storage in the fridge for about 3 years now. I'm glad to say they are holding up very well. They are not totally leak-proof in the lunch bag, so only use them with dry or moist food, nothing too wet. Still, my kid never has problems opening them on her own at school, and we have never had one come open in the lunch either - so the lid fits *just right*, not too tight or loose. The paint has gotten just slightly chipped after 3 years of pretty heavy use. (and taking them to the park, having them bang around with camping gear in my satchel, etc.) One time after leaving some perishables in the divided one for too long it took two washings to get the funky smell out because I didn't scrub around the divider area thoroughly, but that was really my own fault. These are probably the most trouble free, highly useful containers we have, mostly fool-proof. Between these and a couple of locking lid larger metal ones, and we have eliminated the need for plastic storage in our kitchen. Yay! I'd recommend these to anyone.

I've bought 4 each of the SS Uno, Duo, and Trio. A bit pricey, but perfect sizes, well-made, and will last a lifetime. They fit in our lunchboxes/bags well.

Smaller than EcoLunchbox

by Frances M - 10/2011

We have both the Lunchbots Uno and Ecolunchbox for sandwiches. If you're deciding between the two, go with the Ecolunchbox. The Uno is pretty with its painted lid, which I figure would eventually chip off (as noted by other reviewers), but it is also slightly smaller than the Ecolunchbox. This is evident by the listed dimensions, but what it means in real use is that the Uno's lid will not fit over a bagel. Bagels are no problem in the Ecolunchbox. Also, the snug fitting lid of the Uno requires a bit of manipulation to break the suction. This is okay for my 4th grader to do, but maybe not so easy for a kindergartener. The Lunchbot Uno is also made of a lighter gauge stainless steel - not as substantial as the Ecolunchbox, but lighter. Over all, although the Uno is less expensive than the Ecolunchbox, its lower quality and design make it less of a value. I would not buy this make/model again.

Exactly what we needed

by Tiffany F - 09/2011

We purchased the Uno and Duo for my 5.5 yo daughter's lunch and have enjoyed them. The lid is easy on/off for her petite hands and is secure. We used some reusable snack bags last year which ended up moldy on the inside after a year of use and hand-washing. These stainless steel containers will be cleaner and easier to use/keep for many years of school lunches.

Dries in Dishwasher & Fit Std Lunchbox!

by Marylou C - 08/2011

We love all 3 styles of LunchBots! My kids use them for school lunches every day. They fit nicely inside the lunchbox and still leave room for a thermos and something bulky like a piece of fruit or yogurt cup. The Pico and Duo are especially great because you can pack two items in one container. The best aspect of LunchBots is that they dry in your dishwasher, unless EVERY reusable plastic container we used to own!!

I would only order with the stainless lid. Our duo's with the orange lids, peeled and flaked off. Unfortunately even after trying to pick/scrap off since 11/2009, still some remains. I think the all in one would be better, because since they do not seal tightly, even with dry foods their is cross "contamination", which does not make many in the under 10 crowd happy.

Lunchbots

by Cindy W - 07/2011

I use this for snacks for my daughter's lunch. It works great and it is nice to have the separate compartments. You can't fit a sandwich
in it, but it is great for fruit, crackers, etc.

Big fan of the Lunchbot

by Amy D - 07/2011

I ordered the stainless steel lunchbot b/c I had previously had some of the colored (painted) ones and the lids were peeling. Let me take the oppportunity to say that I read another review that said the company had a bad batch and would replace any lids you asked for. I emailed them and within a week I had all new lids, and they assured me that they had fixed the problem. However I decided to try the plain stainless one this time and am very pleased. Some reviews complain that they leak but it CLEARLY says in the product description NOT to use it with liquid foods. I find it very convenient to pack snacks in - one side for a fruit and one side for pretzels or something similar. I would definitey purchase this product again.
