    Design and Functionality
LunchSkins are a sustainable, convenient replacement for plastic baggies, wraps or bulky plastic containers. (See our tips below!) The same size as a typical Ziploc sandwich bag, LunchSkins have a secure Velcro closure that keeps your food in place. Made with the same material that high-end patisseries use to keep baked goods fresh, they’ll hold any food items without absorbing moisture or grease. And, unlike plastic baggies, you can store hot items in the LunchSkin without melting. Plus, all of the bright patterns go together (and with the snack-sized version), so you can create your own custom lunch set! A discrete area to write your (or your child’s) name means you won’t lose or confuse your Lunch Skins.

    Materials
Made from thick cotton fabric coated with food-safe, moisture-proof polyurethane liner. Fabric has been used for years in bakeries and patisseries and meets all EU and U.S. standards for food contact. The highly-adhesive ink used to screen print fabrics has been independently tested for safety and determined to be lead-free, BPA-free and phthalate-free.

    Sustainability
Replaces plastic baggies, wrap and aluminum foil – keeping thousands of bags and unnecessary plastic wrap and foil from the landfill.

    Care instructions
LunchSkins are dishwasher safe – turn them inside out before washing & let them dry completely before using with food. It’s recommended that you wash LunchSkins before the first use. They will soften and fade with use and multiple washings – just like a pair of your favorite old jeans. To keep them newer longer, spot clean them and air dry.

Love to use the Lunchskins bags! However, the velcro strip was not sewn properly and is tearing loose after just one use. Very disappointed for the price! I have 2 other Sandwich bags and 2 snack bags that are fine.

WHY IS THIS BETTER THAN PLASTIC?

    by Melissa R - 08/2010

My sister sent me these bags as a gift. Not only do I have 3 boys, but I'm a 2nd grade teacher as well, so we use a lot of baggies! I was so excited when they arrived! I loved the design of the fabric and idea of not having to use plastic for our lunches. After a few uses & washing, they started giving off an odd, chemical odor. Then I started thinking... they say it's a food safe material, but what exactly are these made of? What's involved in the process of making the fabric. Do they biodegrade or end up in land fills like plastic? In the end, I just stopped using them. I LOVE your website. I live in an area where I have few shopping options. I'll continue to shop with you all for many years. Thanks! Melissa

    LOVE IT!

I ordered three of these for my kids lunchboxes and I wish I had ordered more. The sandwich bag is good sized and will fit any type and I also use it for snacks. I am a huge fan that it can go in the dishwasher. HIGHLY recommend this product.

Not air tight but good for lunches and snacks on the go. Not good storage for any length of time. Cleans easily. I would reccommend this item.

    Good mom

    by Tracey M - 07/2010

My son's Montessori school strongly discourages the use of plastic bags, so I was so happy to find lunchskins on your website. The designs are cute, they are easy for him to use and easy for me to clean up and now I'M back on the good mom list....

    I love them!

    by Kristina P - 07/2010

These durable bags have great prints and make it fun to pack my lunch for work every day. At the same time I am eliminating plastics! My cowrorkers love them. It is fun to set the trend!

    love.

    by Larkin S - 06/2010

I bought two of these and I use them nearly every day. The velcro is great, and I am never worried about leakage. I pack grapes and carrots in them and never feel at the mercy of fast food places any longer since I can just grab a pre-made, healthy snack from my lunch bag or even my purse when I use these pouches. The designs are great and it has an almost vintage feel. It would be magical if they made a model of these that was insulated, which would extend the shelf life of lunches...

cute, but overall not worth it...

My wife and I have used these bags extensively (and nearly exclusively) for our two kids' lunches during the past school year (approximately nine months). For the most part, we washed the bags inside out in the washing machine nightly. While we purchased the LunchSkins to cut down on our use of plastic baggies, there are two major drawbacks to the LunchSkin line. One, as was flagged by another reviewer, our bags began to smell chemically / terribly over time. We washed them frequently, too! Second, the bags become very tiring over time, especially with school-aged children. Nearly everyday our kids would come home with lunchboxes full of crumbs. The crumbs fall out of the LunchSkins (even when they are closed) --- think cookies, crackers, bread, EVERYTHING. It gets old is all I can say. I truly wish the LunchSkins worked better for us (because I believe in everything they are trying to do) but after nine months of use, we are looking for a better alternative to plastic bags (still).

trying to cut down on plastic wrap use..

I have tried other products for my bag lunches and all have failed me. These are good if the food is dry, I had a sandwich with tomatoes and mayo and juice escaped into my backpack. I will have to put into plastic bag which kind of defeats the purpose. They also stated these were dishwasher safe, which is true but I found the food particles get caught into the velco. Best to hand wash or place higher in the dishwasher.

    Dry sandwich

    by Meredith K - 04/2010

I have enjoyed using this product, however for sandwiches I'm looking for something different. My sandwich is awfully dry after being stored in one of these bags for four hours. I do agree with others that the price is steep for only one bag. On the plus side, the bag is well constructed, easy to clean, and holds just the right amount of other lunch food, such as carrot sticks or other vegetables, crackers, nuts, grapes or cut up fruit.

    A bit pricy

I like the lunch skins, but $8.95 is awfully steep for one bag. I didn't read the description carefully, and thought I'd be getting a package of bags, rather than a single one.

    Excellent, Versatile Bags

    by Jennifer K - 03/2010

I love my LunchSkins! They are easy to use, easy to wash and great for holding all kinds of foods. The only thing they aren't great for is wet foods like very juicy fruit. I should have figured this out beforehand, esp. since they don't claim to be watertight, but in case anyone was wondering, I've run the experiment and things like fresh pineapple leak. :) Otherwise, they are terrific for things like nuts, sandwiches, cut up veggies and more. Highly recommend for toting your food and snacks around. Large holds several small muffins, small holds a handful of cut-up peppers or ~ 1/2 cup of nuts.

super cute designs, convenient sizes, dishwasher safe...I love my lunchskins! These will go a long way toward convincing my summer campers and their parents to pack waste free lunches. I haven't noticed any sort of 'chemical smell' that other people have mentioned, so no complaints there either
