This kit includes everything you need to cut back on waste – from plastic bags and spoiled food – when buying fresh produce at the grocery store or farmers market. Our extra large lightweight, muslin cotton bags are bigger than the standard plastic produce bags found in most grocery stores – great for oranges, broccoli and other leafy vegetables. Used with our produce savers you can save money as you help the environment by dramatically increasing the shelf life of your fruits and vegetables.
The organic cotton bags are also great for grains and other bulk products; to replace single-use baggies for use with dry snacks, nuts and lunch items; and as all-purpose gift or party favor bags. Alton Brown of The Food Network's Good Eats featured these handy bags to cook stuffing in on a Thanksgiving episode! The tare weight (34g) of these bags in conveniently printed on the inside tags so you can let the cashier know to deduct this from the weight of your purchase. Plus, many stores will knock a few cents off your purchase when you bring your own bags.

Just toss a produce saver in your fridge’s produce drawer, and the FDA-approved mineral combination will absorb ethylene gas and humidity – the two main reasons food spoils. In fact, each produce saver can absorb 55% of its weight in humidity. Our produce savers are designed to maximize the surface area exposure of the internal materials -- this ensures ethylene gas and humidity are absorbed quickly, helping keep your produce fresh longer than similar products.
Materials
Organic cotton is a far superior alternative to chemical-laden conventional cotton. More and more farmers around the world are growing cotton without costly, harmful chemicals. Their yield is high and the quality of the cotton they grow is equal to or better than conventionally grown cotton. Their methods support biodiversity and healthy ecosystems, improve the quality of soil and often use less water.
Our produce savers are made of FDA approved, food-safe Dupont Tyvek, which is made of HDPE (#2 recyclable plastic). The packet contains montomoillonite and potassium permanganate, which are safe, non-toxic, non-corrosive, non-flammable, non-caustic and non-irritating.

Care Instructions
Always keep produce savers dry. Keep unused produce savers in zip-lock bag.
To dispose produce savers: Minerals are safe enough to toss into the garden, but please note that potassium permanganate is basically a salt and will harm plants if there is too much in the soil. If this is a concern, dispose of in the garbage.
Machine wash cotton produce bag cold, drip dry. Store in a cool, dry place. These are natural fibers and mold can grow if they're not stored properly.
Tips
- Keep your produce saver in an empty plastic berry container in your crisper. It will keep the saver dry, but allow air circulation.
- You can also tape the produce saver to the side of your produce drawer.

Debbie Meyer vs. Evert-Fresh

The Evert-Fresh Green Bags I purchased from ReusableBags.com some years ago have been a real money saver for me. I shop once per month, so the veggies I buy really have to last. With the Evert-Fresh Green Bags (and a paper towel to absorb excess moisture), heads of lettuce last more than four weeks, tomatoes are good for at least three if not four weeks, and bananas are still quite tasty after two weeks (blackened from the cold refrigerator, but firm and tasty). I was concerned about the Debbie Meyer "formerly known as Evert-Fresh" claim, so I called the toll-free number at EvertFresh.com and was happy to learn that they make all the bags and package them as Debbie Meyer and as Evert-Fresh.

I\'m not very fond the produce bags. The checkout people always think they are pillowcases and dump the produce out in order to see it and weigh it. I wish there were a lighter and see-through produce bag-- maybe some sort of recycled mesh.

These produce bags are wonderful! It used to make me crazy to use those plastic produce bags, then put them into my reuseable shopping bags. The mesh bags that were part of the set were not m
The mesh bags that were part of the set were not mesh at all, they were cotton canvas. My purpose for ordering them was to take to the grocery store for produce, wanting the store cashier to be able to read the label and see the produce through the bag. Was disappointed about that.

The produce bags are a best keep secret
The produce bags are a best keep secret. I buy a lot of vegetables and go bad fast. The vegetables last a lot longer when stored in these produce bags. I think I recouped the cost of the bags back in one week with the savings of not having to buy fresh vegetables. It is diffinitely one of the best purchases that I have made.

I ordered and received both the green produce bags
I ordered and received both the green produce bags and the cotton storage bags. I had done some research on these products and had some reasonable hopes. Well, I've been using both types of bags for a little over 2 weeks, and have been surprised at the results. My produce stays fresh longer in the green bags, and fruits clean an much less bruised in the cotton storage bags. I am very happy with both products and plan on purchasing some sets as gifts.

I thought the bags would be see-through because the word 'mesh' is in the title of the product. They are not see-through. I don't suppose the checkout workers will like opening every bag to see what's inside.

The Reusable Produce Bag kit is great
The Reusable Produce Bag kit is great. We haven't had enough time to test the produce life-extending discs and bags, but we have a lot of faith in them and hope they help use waste less. Our refrigerator crispers are packed full of vegetables and fruits in the bags. As far as the cloth produce bags go, we feel great carrying them around in the store instead of plastic bags. For each reusable bag that we carry, Kroger takes $0.05 off of our grocery bill. The appear to be durable, and can be washed if dirty. They cinch up at the top. They have been more than large enough thus far for what we have been buying. We use some of them as our lunch bags. We hope to buy reusable grocery bags very soon from this website!
