Waste less, make fewer produce shopping trips and enjoy your fruits and vegetables longer. Reuseit produce savers absorb excess humidity and ethylene gas that builds up in the crisper bin as produce ripens, significantly improving fresh produce shelf life. Helps you waste less food & money.

    • Increases shelf life of food up to 3-10 times, for about 5-cents a day
    • Each set of two is good for 4-6 months
    • 100% safe, natural ingredients
    • Same minerals used in the produce industry
    • Package size is designed to absorb ethylene gas & humidity quickly

Humidity and ethylene gas are nature's ripening agents. As fruits and vegetables ripen in their natural environment, the ethylene is released into the surrounding air. However, when ethylene is released inside the refrigerator, it gets trapped and builds up causing produce to ripen much faster than it would in nature.

reuseit.com produce savers help reduce produce waste by extending the life of your produce by 3-10 times. Just toss a produce saver in your fridge’s produce drawer, and the FDA-approved mineral combination will absorb ethylene gas and humidity – the two main reasons food spoils. In fact, each produce saver can absorb 55% of its weight in humidity. Our produce savers are designed to maximize the surface area exposure of the internal materials -- this ensures ethylene gas and humidity are absorbed quickly, helping keep your produce fresh longer than similar products.

reuseit.com produce savers come in sets of two, which will help preserve your produce for 4-6 months. Take a produce saver out of the plastic bag and put it in your crisper drawer, but do not allow it to get wet. Keep the unused packed in the zip-locked bag. Use the calendar printed on the bag to track when you need to change it.

Sustainability
On average, Americans toss out 25% of the produce they’ve purchased just because it’s spoiled. Our produce savers help reduce this waste by absorbing ethylene gas and humidity to slow the spoiling process, saving produce and money, too.

Materials
Made of FDA-approved, food-safe Dupont Tyvek, which is made of HDPE (#2 recyclable plastic). The packet contains montomoillonite and potassium permanganate, which are safe, non-toxic, non-corrosive, non-flammable, non-caustic and non-irritating.

Care Instructions
Always keep produce savers dry. Keep unused produce savers in zip-lock bag.

To dispose: Minerals are safe enough to toss into the garden, but please note that potassium permanganate is basically a salt and will harm plants if there is too much in the soil. If this is a concern, dispose of in the garbage.

Tips
  • Keep your produce saver in an empty plastic berry container in your crisper. It will keep the saver dry, but allow air circulation.
  • You can also tape the produce saver to the side of your produce drawer.

great product

by Ruth A - 03/2012

produce saver works great, I put one in each crisper drawer and things just stay fresher longer. I use produce reusable bags and with the two products my produce such as carrots and celery stay fresher longer.

really extends fruit&veggie life

by Pamela M - 02/2011

These little packets really do work to extend the freshness life of fruit & veggies in the fridge bins. I won't be without them again! Just be sure to position them where the air can flow around them in the bin -- not buried in the bottom -- remind the kids & hubby about that, too, after they raid the fridge!

Too early to tell

I have to agree with some of the other customers. Not having bought produce more than once since I purchased these, I really don't have a good "feel" yet. I have put one in crisper container with fresh spinach and romaine, and the other in a bowl on the table with fresh fruits. (most fruit doesn't last long anyway at my house with two boys). I do wonder if it helps with fruits like bananas which I always keep in separate areas to stay fresh longer.

Perfect with reusable produce bags!

by Melissa E - 07/2010

I am so happy to have found these! I really wanted to leave my leafy greens, herbs and lettuce in the reusable produce bags (I have Smart Cycle and Baggu) without moving them into a plastic bags. These solve that dilemna beautifully as long as you keep both the produce and the Reusit produce savers in a crisper or some kind of enclosed drawer in your refrigerator. I belong to a CSA and I've even put produce directly into the crisper and it lasts a couple of weeks, no problem!

After 3 weeks, the jury's still out

After deciding to switch from plastic produce bags to reusable (net) bags, I eagerly read the reviews to determine the best option. A recurring concern by other reviewers was that produce went bad more quickly than with regular plastic bags. I purchased these to solve that problem--other reviewers claimed that it kept their produce fresher, and the product seemed sound. One of the most impressive reviews was that lettuce stayed fresh for weeks. With regular bags, I had red-leaf lettuce that stayed good for about a week, so extending that to 2 weeks seemed great. With this product, my lettuce wilted within 2 days. The product removes humidity from the produce drawer, and it resulted in the removal of all water from the lettuce leaves as well as in the air. I was able to rescue the lettuce by placing it cold water for about 10 minutes and wrapping the remaining portion with wet paper towels, placing it in an old plastic produce bag, and keeping it out of the produce drawer. I've noticed some drying of other vegetables, like zucchini and cucumber. So, three stars for the product: it definitely does what it claims to do (remove humidity and, presumably, ripening gasses), but I'm not sure that removing the humidity is a good thing.

I like it, seems to be working

by Lynn F - 06/2010

I have been using a produce saver for about a month now and there does seem to be a significant extension of life to my produce. Of course when my fruit is tied up tightly in a pastic bag next to the produce saver the fruit degrades quickly because I have locked all the ethelyne in the plastic bag. I try to remember to punch holes in the spinich and other bags so the ethelyne can escape and be captured by the produce saver. I thrust in the product enough to offer it for sale at the local farmers' market.

crisp lettuce much longer

I have a box of organic vegetables delivered to my door every other week. Depending on the season sometime the vegetables will last me through 10 days, if they don't go all limp and nasty. These have extended the life of my vegies, less compost more dinner!

Veggies still fresh!

by Vanessa A - 05/2010

My family and I were getting sick and tired of buying produce only for it to go bad a few days later. It really was a waste of money, an yet we couldnt stop buying our favorite tomatoes and peppers. Once we got these, however, tomatoes are still fresh, firm, and peppers are far from wrinkly. Produce saver saved my veggies for when i finally need them! :)

so far so good

by David H - 04/2010

I've been using one of these in my fride's produce drawer for about a month, and it seems to be fairly effective. You won't be able to keep your produce forever, but it does seem to slow down the spoilage process, particularly with berries. I've been able to keep blackberries and strawberries for about 8-10 days; without the Produce Saver, it was more like 5-7 days. I'm not sure how this product works, which makes me a bit nervous, but I like the results.

The Produce Saver is fantastic! I like that they are pretty flat to go in the produce bin without taking up alot of space, ours is usually full of produce. I can't wait until our garden comes in and can save and use all of our great home-grown veggies before they get yucky.

better than other produce savers

by Natalie S - 03/2010

I've used green bags and didn't like having to eventually throw them away - and the produce savers in the plastic containers are too cumbersome and don't last long enough. These produce savers are huge - so they work for a long time, on a lot of fruits and veggies and they don't take up much room.

great value, less waste

Stripped down, no excessive packaging - you get a ton of the ethylene absorbing minerals for a low price. Con: It's hard to tell when it's stopped absorbing, but the calendar helps with that.

I am so impressed with your product!

I am so impressed with your product! There was "nothing wrong" with my Sub Zero refrigerator. However, since using your product, I noticed that the fruit no longer gets dried out, nor is there "fur" growing on the strawberries and the blueberries. I can't believe that the berries lasted 10 days. What a worthwhile investment!
