Materials
18/8 sanitary and inert stainless steel. Made from electropolished, non-leaching, high grade 304 L.N. 304 L.N. stainless steel is grade blended specifically for food preparation, dairy, brewing, various medical uses and other applications where mineral migration is unacceptable. The steel is put through a electropolishing process which seals the surface and prevents minerals from migrating into the contents.
Stainless steel is an iron-containing alloy made from some of the basic elements found on earth: iron ore, chromium, silicon, nickel, carbon, nitrogen, and manganese. Properties of the final alloy are tailored by varying amounts of these elements. There are more than 57 stainless steels recognized as standard alloys on the market. Stainless steel has excellent resistance to stain or rust due to its chromium content making it a material of choice among the food processing, dairy and brewery industries. Stainless steel is easy to clean, durable, inert and sanitary.
Sustainability
Billions of single-use, disposable plastic utensils are consumed each year. Most are used for less than an hour then thrown away - while handy, this "free" convenience comes at a massive cost to society. They generate millions of tons of unnecessary waste each year - not to mention the natural resources required to make them in the first place (the price of which is passed along to consumers). Using reusable utensils helps preserve natural resources, protect the environment and save money in the process.
Not only is the SIGG cutlery set designed to be reusable, they are 100% recyclable at the end of their very long lives. Stainless steel is one of the most environmentally friendly materials in the world because it is extremely easy to recycle, regaining nearly all of its properties and making it ideal for repurposing.
About SIGG
For 100+ years, SIGG has utilized Swiss precision and craftsmanship to produce high-quality reusable bottles. The history of SIGG Switzerland dates back to 1908 when metal processing specialist Ferdinand Sigg established an aluminum product factory in Biel, Switzerland. The SIGG bottle became a fixture in Swiss households; in fact, every member of the Swiss Army had a SIGG bottle issued as standard field gear. A USA subsidiary was launched in 2005, but SIGG operations still remain in the quaint village of Frauenfeld, Switzerland to this day.
SIGG is committed to preserving nature. They choose FSC-certified papers for all their publications, and work with eco-printing plants to actively reduce CO2 emissions and participate in voluntary climate protection.

No More Plastic!

So far, I like this product very much. It's compact and I can carry it in my purse without a second thought. Already, I've been able to avoid using plastic utensils from the deli, etc. I don't love the knife, actually. I've never been a pocket-knife person so I'm not quite comfortable using it. I think a serrated knife might have been more appropriate for every-day use vs. a very sharp knife. Nonetheless, it's come in quite handy and I would definitely purchase it again and recommend it.

Top quality

The quality of this all in one folding utensil is very high. Great functional replacement to the maddening quantity of disposable cutlery out there. Also, I really like pulling out this macho steel gadget when I'm getting lunch at work, especially since I'm a feminine, petite woman.

I bought this set and loved it

I bought this set and loved it. However, less than a year later, the spoon broke and is showing signs of rust at the base of the spoon. I don't use the fork and knife on a daily basis but do use the spoon. May have to go bamboo next.

Quite the conversation piece when I whip out the cutlery set from my belt-mounted sheath! My friends are amazed at the versatility of the unit and how it comes apart. I'm very happy with it, and thoroughly enjoy the baffled, bewildered, and sometimes ridiculous reactions I get from the take-out places when I show them WHY I don't require they're plastic utensils.

This is a really great little tool
2 out of 2 customers found this review helpful
This is a really great little tool. I love that the utensils separate for ease of use. The knife is super sharp and because of a clever design the spoon isn't too shallow but still folds up nice. The only reason I won't give this a perfect rating is because the fork is a bit narrow. Makes it tricky to eat noodles but for everything else it seems fine. The construction is really solid and the knife locks in place for safety.

I like the idea of the product, but after washing it one time (without ever having used it), it rusted.

It was great and very useful until the spoon fell apart. This was despite careful washing and drying after using. Maybe we got a dud one.

Compact, sturdy, heavyweight and well made
Compact, sturdy, heavyweight and well made. Not hard to use once you get the hang of it, or if you've used pocket knives before. Great for camping or every-day use. I keep it in my purse. The fork is a little small but they all are when they are this portable. Very pleased with this product. All three items come apart to be used separately.

I use my Sigg Knife/Fork/Spoon at least daily
1 out of 1 customers found this review helpful
I use my Sigg Knife/Fork/Spoon at least daily. It helps that it's so cool! I keep it on my back pack strap because the knife itself is high quality enough to replace my everyday pocket knife. (Love the locking blade!) The spoon is also fantastic. The fork isn't something that works all that well with big pieces of lettuce, but if I had to hold chicken still to cut it, it would work great. It's nice that it includes a bottle opener. It comes apart a little stiff the first time, but I think that's just because it takes a couple tries to get the hang of. It's great for travel, and I have to imagine it would be great for scouts and camping, although I haven't yet taken it camping. It's also easy to clean, and nice that it's stainless so I don't have to worry about rust. It helps you stay sustainable because it's easy and fun to carry with you. Downside: you'd probably have an easier time getting bamboo utensils on an airplane in your carryon. This one wouldn't make it. I don't care though- I'd check it and then use it as an excuse to buy the bamboo utensils! :-)

I recently purchased this cutlery set
4 out of 4 customers found this review helpful
I recently purchased this cutlery set. Perhaps I am not the average outdoors person because I did not find this set easy to use. First let me say that it is very sturdy and high quality. But a word of caution, read the instructions for use first and DON'T Open the knife part until the fork and spoon are disconnected. 1 cut and a lot of frustration later I am still trying to disconnect the fork. I have a feeling this will be a great set once I can figure it out but, for my low skill level I probably should have stuck to regular silverware.
