We offer lots of additional info on SIGG in our SIGG FAQs.

Healthy & Safe
SIGG reusable bottles have been independently tested to prove no detectable leaching of harmful chemicals like BPA (learn more about BPA). SIGG's proprietary bottle lining is a water-based, non-toxic coating that is baked into the interior walls and remains flexible and crack resistant for the life of the bottle. SIGG's lining is not plastic – it is a micro-thin epoxy. Due to the finish of the liner, there is much less chance for bacteria build-up with a SIGG as opposed to plastic containers. The liner is taste-neutral and resistant to fruit acids and energy drinks, ensuring that your drinks taste like your drinks every time.

"While the polycarbonate #7 (aka Lexan) bottles leached a significant amount of BPA, the SIGG bottles – both new & used – showed no detectable BPA." -- Dr. Jonathan Chun PhD, Alliance Technology 2007

"According to the results of our evaluation, use of a SIGG bottle does not add to the beverage any particles or components which are dangerous to human health" -- Dr. Ulrich Nehring, Institute Nehring, 2007

Materials
Designed and manufactured in Switzerland from a single piece of pure aluminum, each bottle is perfectly extruded for uniform, seamless construction. About 20% lighter weight than a comparable sized Lexan plastic bottle, SIGG’s are incredibly durable, virtually unbreakable. Just ask the guys at Backpacker magazine who recently tested the leading bottle brands. Test results showed SIGG as “The World’s Toughest Water Bottle”. Click here for more.

The brilliant exterior of a SIGG is created using a solvent-free, eco-friendly, powder-based coating which is baked on to create a vibrant finish. SIGG reusable bottles are beautifully designed, portable works of art that are a perfect blend of function and fashion. In fact, SIGG bottles are part of the permanent Design Collection at the NY Museum of Modern Art. Like a fashion house, SIGG drops and introduces new styles every year keeping designs fresh.

Sustainability
Not only are SIGG bottles designed to be reusable, they are 100% recyclable at the end of their very long lives. Single use, disposable water bottles (PET plastic) create millions of tons of unnecessary waste each year. In fact, according to the Container Recycling Institute, less than 15% of plastic water bottles in the U.S. are actually recycled – most wind up in landfills where they can take up to 1000 years to biodegrade. Using SIGG bottles helps replace wasteful, use-and-toss single serving plastic and paper beverage containers, while saving you money in the process. Reusing durable SIGG bottles ultimately helps you consume less over time.

About SIGG
For 100+ years, SIGG has utilized Swiss precision and craftsmanship to produce high-quality reusable bottles. The history of SIGG Switzerland dates back to 1908 when metal processing specialist Ferdinand Sigg established an aluminum product factory in Biel, Switzerland. The SIGG bottle became a fixture in Swiss households; in fact, every member of the Swiss Army had a SIGG bottle issued as standard field gear. A USA subsidiary was launched in 2005, but SIGG operations still remain in the quaint village of Frauenfeld, Switzerland to this day. In addition, as a member of 1% for the Planet, SIGG USA donates 1% of all sales to helping preserve our environment.

    Problems with Plastic
To learn more on potential leaching from certain plastic containers, BPA, phthalates & additional info showing why SIGG is a safe choice, check out the BPA & Phthalates category in our Newsroom.

    Care Instructions
Rinsing your SIGG thoroughly under the faucet with warm, soapy water at the end of every day and letting it air dry with the top off provides sufficient cleaning in most cases. When more thorough cleaning is required, you can use baking soda and vinegar. For tough jobs, pick up some SIGG cleaning tablets and a SIGG brush. Do not use a hard bristled brush to clean the interior of your SIGG bottle as this may damage the liner.

These water bottles are the best, no more worrying

    by Angela W - 06/2008

These water bottles are the best, no more worrying about toxic plastics. They clean up great, stay cold longer and no more plastic taste in my water. Since the first purchase for my son I've bought two more.

    by Brenda C - 02/2008

My kindergarten son takes this bottle to school with him every day. We have only had it a couple of months and it is already seriously dented from normal 6 year old use. He loves the ninja design and the dents haven't seemed to affect the function of the bottle (at least not yet anyway) but I feel like it is going to have a short life span in our house. When this one gasps it's last breath, I plan to order him a Kleen Kanteen instead. The KK, although missing the cool graphics on the SIGG, seems to be much less dent prone. Also, my son is really bugged that the cubes from our ice maker don't fit in the bottle. The mouth of the SIGG is just too small while the KK mouth is big enough to fit our cubes without ordering a special ice tray. This bottle is much better for an adult who is going be more careful. (I have a SIGG bottle myself and haven't had any trouble with dents.)

So far the claims are true

    by Brenda G - 01/2008

So far the claims are true. No smell, easy to clean. Unfortunately my 7 year old son dropped it the first day, snapping the bottle top cover off, leaving a sharp shard of plastic. I could not take the lid apart to remove the sharp leftovers so just had to saw it off with a knife. A flexible cover would be an inprovement.

My son loves his new bottle

    by Erin P - 12/2007

My son loves his new bottle. My only problem is that it's a little difficult to clean, with the smaller opening. I'm used to the wide-mouth bottles that my scrubbie brush can fit into, but it doesn't fit in the opening on his bottle. Other than that, it's a great bottle.

    by Teresa A - 10/2007

Just a note to let you know how pleased I was with the SIGG 0.6L Big Kids reusable bottle. My 5 year old grandson, Jack, loves it. It's a great way to encourage him to drink more water. He loves having his own bottle in the refrigerator when he gets thirsty. The quality of the product is obvious when you open the package. The "Team" design is so cool. Now I must order a sippy cup for his sister! Thanks for a great product.

    My son loves this bottle

    by Linda C - 10/2007

My son loves this bottle. It makes drinking water cool. It gives me peace of mind that he is not drinking out of plastic, plus it saves on waste. Sigg bottles are both sturdy and stylish. I bought one for everyone in the family!

As always, SIGG exhibits the tendency of the Swiss

    by William M - 09/2007

As always, SIGG exhibits the tendency of the Swiss to be very consistent-consistent quality and craftmanship. This SIGG bottle has a very unique style, ying and yang mixed with a little spy vs.spy. Overall a very creative design.
