Care Instructions
Do not freeze your SIGG aluminum bottle – it will crack! Rinsing your SIGG thoroughly under the faucet with warm, soapy water at the end of every day and letting it air dry with the top off provides sufficient cleaning in most cases. When more thorough cleaning is required, you can use baking soda and vinegar. For tough jobs, pick up some SIGG cleaning tablets and a SIGG brush. Do not use a hard bristled brush to clean the interior of your SIGG bottle as this may damage the liner.

Design & Functionality
SIGG’s are safe, reusable bottles that do not leach toxins into its contents. Reusable, lightweight & durable. These bottles can take a hit without compromising the interior lining. About 20% lighter weight than a comparable sized Lexan plastic bottle, SIGG’s are incredibly durable, virtually unbreakable. Just ask the guys at Backpacker magazine who recently tested the leading bottle brands. Test results showed SIGG as "The World’s Toughest Water Bottle".

Fashionable as they are functional, each year SIGG launches exciting new designs from artists around the world. Much like a fashion house, SIGG rotates and drops designs to keep things fresh. SIGG reusable bottles are beautifully designed - in fact, SIGG bottles are part of the permanent Design Collection at the NY Museum of Modern Art.

Materials
Designed and manufactured in Switzerland from a single piece of pure aluminum, each bottle is perfectly extruded for uniform, seamless construction. The brilliant exterior of a SIGG is created using a solvent-free, eco-friendly, powder-based coating which is baked on to create a vibrant finish.

SIGG reusable bottles have been independently tested to prove no detectable leaching of harmful chemicals like BPA (learn more about BPA).

"While the polycarbonate #7 (aka Lexan) bottles leached a significant amount of BPA, the SIGG bottles – both new & used – showed no detectable BPA." -- Dr. Jonathan Chun PhD, Alliance Technology 2007

"According to the results of our evaluation, use of a SIGG bottle does not add to the beverage any particles or components which are dangerous to human health" -- Dr. Ulrich Nehring, Institute Nehring, 2007

Sustainability
Not only are SIGG bottles designed to be reusable, they are 100% recyclable at the end of their very long lives. Aluminum is one of the most environmentally friendly materials in the world because it is extremely easy to recycle, regaining nearly all of its properties and making it ideal for repurposing.

Single-use, disposable water bottles (PET plastic) create millions of tons of unnecessary waste each year. In fact, according to the Container Recycling Institute, less than 15% of plastic water bottles in the U.S. are actually recycled – most wind up in landfills where they can take up to 1000 years to biodegrade. Using SIGG bottles helps replace wasteful, use-and-toss single serving plastic and paper beverage containers, while saving you money in the process. Reusing durable SIGG bottles ultimately helps you consume less over time.

"More than 90% of the environmental impact of a plastic bottle takes place before the bottle hits the landfill... energy to manufacture, energy to transport, energy to refrigerate--and ultimately energy to recycle." – Dr. Allen Hershkowitz, NRDC

About SIGG
For 100+ years, SIGG has utilized Swiss precision and craftsmanship to produce high-quality reusable bottles. The history of SIGG Switzerland dates back to 1908 when metal processing specialist Ferdinand Sigg established an aluminum product factory in Biel, Switzerland. The SIGG bottle became a fixture in Swiss households; in fact, every member of the Swiss Army had a SIGG bottle issued as standard field gear. A USA subsidiary was launched in 2005, but SIGG operations still remain in the quaint village of Frauenfeld, Switzerland to this day.

SIGG is committed to preserving nature. A member of 1% for the Planet, SIGG USA donates 1% of all sales to helping preserve our environment. They choose FSC-certified papers for all their publications, and work with eco-printing plants to actively reduce CO2 emissions and participate in voluntary climate protection.

Please note that SIGG bottles made prior to Aug of 2008 and have the brassy looking inside are actually not BPA free. They can be returned and replaced through the SIGG company. The SIGG company was actually aware of this information for over a year before releasing the information to consumers. In fact when challenged by the EWG, they insisted their name be removed from the BPA list as their product did not contain BPA, when in fact it did. While I have liked these bottles to date, I am no longer going to buy SIGG products due to the handling of this situation. The safe SIGGs have a dull beige interior.

    We love this thermos

    by Christine M - 05/2009

We love this thermos. We usually only use it for water, which stays cold for a long time. It is light, easy to fill, and easy for our kids to open and close. A seemingly small design attribute is that you cannot close the outer cap if the spout is open - we purchased a Laken thermos that did not do this - so we would assume the spout was closed when the cap was closed, and water would spill everywhere. We went back to the Sigg thermos.

My daughter really likes this water bottle

    by Liza D - 04/2009

My daughter really likes this water bottle. It's great for using in the car and on the run. We're trying to get away from plastic in general, and it's especially hard to find things for kids. We get lots of positive comments from everyone who sees it too.

Safari Fun reusable bottle looks GREAT!! Baby's not even due until August, so I'm a little ahead of the game in being able to rate its use. But we all love it

    SIGG bottles are the best!

    by Amy C - 04/2009

SIGG bottles are the best! They're a bit pricey, but if you watch for sales, you can occasionally pick one up for a bit less. And my son LOVES the bright colors of this and our other SIGG bottles.

    by Lisa S - 04/2009

My son loves these bottles. He has several and enjoys the fun prints. I love that they work well, without leaking. I pack them in his lunch box for preschool and take them in the car for day trips.

    by Lawrence L - 03/2009

My son loves this bottle. This one comes with the hinged cap. The only downside is it requires twisting to open and close the spout. I'm not sure a toddler can do this on his own since it requires a bit of finger strength to turn.

I love the Safari reusable bottle!

    by Lesley G - 02/2009

I love the Safari reusable bottle! I already am saving, by not buying juice boxes! My 3 yr old daughter does have some problems opening the lid, but once her fingers get a little stronger, she will get it!

    by Brandy E - 02/2009

This is a great alternative to a plastic sippy or straw cup for preschoolers. I got this for my 4-year-old, and was a little worried after reading other reviews that it would be hard for her to open and close the valve, but after 1 day, she had no trouble. The safari design is cute, even if the olive green color isn't the prettiest, but it doesn't bother my girl, who is happy not to have another pink princess cup from her big sister! I have had 2 other Sigg bottles (a 1L screw top and a 0.6L sport top) for over a year and love them. They are both dented from being dropped, and have some paint peeling, and must be hand washed every day, but that's my only complaint about these!

    by William M - 02/2009

This was bought to replace the 10-ounce plastic juice bottles in my 6-year old son's lunch. Work's great! The kids use the SIGG bottles for their water around the house during the day, and this means no more plastic bottles being wasted in our house (even though we did recycle them!). A perfect size for jusice for lunch!

    Great bottle

    by Eric C - 02/2009

Great bottle. Durable, perfect size. I bought one for my 2 year old. The flip top opens easily, but he hasn't quite mastered twisting the top to open or close.

The Positive: Fluids taste great in this and there

    by Elizabeth P - 09/2008

The Positive: Fluids taste great in this and there's no plastic leaching into what we are drinking. The size is ideal for taking in your purse as it's not too large The Negative: My 2 yr old broke this within 5 minutes. He threw it on the ground and the plastic lid cracked off. Then he picked it up, drank from it and got scratched by the bits of plastic poking off the hinge. My husband had to get pliers to pry off the left over plastic. The bottle now remains lid less, but is still usable. Negative #2: I also bought one for myself. At least 2-3 times it opened up in my bag and spilled everywhere. How this happened, I don't know. However, I have the wet purse contents to prove it. My SIG has the plastic cover intact. But the lid easily flips up, and I suppose the turn top must not be so secure.

Super cute bottles, but the paint does chip when they fall. We also have the nalgene bottles and I like those better for the kids as they are easier to clean.

    My son loves this bottle!

    by Karen E - 06/2008

My son loves this bottle! He is 11 mo. and it is the only thing (other than our big SIGG bottles) that he will drink out of (baby bottles included. We had gotten the Klean Kanteen bottle a few months earlier, but he wouldn't really take to that one. The spout on the SIGG bottles seemed to be more familiar to our breastfed babe! We will definitely get the next size up as he grows.

    by Sarah D - 06/2008

We love our new sippy bottle! My daughter loves the fun, bright colors, and the fact that she can hang on to it. It is very light weight and easy for her to carry around. I am happy that there is a safe alternative to the plastic sippy cup. Thanks
