Healthy & Safe
SIGG reusable bottles have been independently tested to prove 0.0% leaching, helping reduce your exposure to harmful chemicals like BPA (for more on BPA visit our Newsroom). SIGG's proprietary bottle lining is a water-based, non-toxic coating that is baked into the interior walls and remains flexible and crack resistant for the life of the bottle. SIGG's lining is not plastic – it is a micro-thin epoxy. Due to the finish of the liner, there is much less chance for bacteria build-up with a SIGG as opposed to plastic containers. The liner is taste-neutral and resistant to fruit acids and energy drinks, ensuring that your drinks taste like your drinks every time.
"While the polycarbonate #7 (aka Lexan) bottles leached a significant amount of BPA, the SIGG bottles – both new & used – showed no detectable BPA." - Dr. Jonathan Chun PhD, Alliance Technology 2007
"According to the results of our evaluation, use of a SIGG bottle does not add to the beverage any particles or components which are dangerous to human health" -- Dr. Ulrich Nehring, Institute Nehring, 2007
Materials
Designed and manufactured in Switzerland from a single piece of pure aluminum, each bottle is perfectly extruded for uniform, seamless construction. About 20% lighter weight than a comparable sized Lexan plastic bottle, SIGG’s are incredibly durable, virtually unbreakable. Just ask the guys at Backpacker magazine who recently tested the leading bottle brands. Test results showed SIGG as “The World’s Toughest Water Bottle”. Click here for more.
The brilliant exterior of a SIGG is created using a solvent-free, eco-friendly, powder-based coating which is baked on to create a vibrant finish. SIGG reusable bottles are beautifully designed, portable works of art that are a perfect blend of function and fashion. In fact, SIGG bottles are part of the permanent Design Collection at the NY Museum of Modern Art. Like a fashion house, SIGG drops and introduces new styles every year keeping designs fresh.
Sustainability
Not only are SIGG bottles designed to be reusable, they are 100% recyclable at the end of their very long lives. Single use, disposable water bottles (PET plastic) create millions of tons of unnecessary waste each year. In fact, according to the Container Recycling Institute, less than 15% of plastic water bottles in the U.S. are actually recycled – most wind up in landfills where they can take up to 1000 years to biodegrade. Using SIGG bottles helps replace wasteful, use-and-toss single serving plastic and paper beverage containers, while saving you money in the process. Reusing durable SIGG bottles ultimately helps you consume less over time.
About SIGG
For 100+ years, SIGG has utilized Swiss precision and craftsmanship to produce high-quality reusable bottles. The history of SIGG Switzerland dates back to 1908 when metal processing specialist Ferdinand Sigg established an aluminum product factory in Biel, Switzerland. The SIGG bottle became a fixture in Swiss households; in fact, every member of the Swiss Army had a SIGG bottle issued as standard field gear. A USA subsidiary was launched in 2005, but SIGG operations still remain in the quaint village of Frauenfeld, Switzerland to this day. In addition, as a member of 1% for the Planet, SIGG USA donates 1% of all sales to helping preserve our environment.

I got this for my husband as a congratulations/new job gift. He loves it! He's a really outdoorsy, active guy, and he thinks this thing is so cool! He's trading in the ol' nalgene. In the morning, he drinks his coffee out of the attached cup. This thing is cool! I had originally ordered a different flask, and then they were totally out of them- and this was the only one left. So reusablebags.com gave me a great deal, and now I am so glad it was the only one left! This is a great flask/bottle.

I love the retro rugged look and the oval shape makes it fit very nicely in a bag. I haven't had a chance yet to take this bad boy on a river trip so I don't know how well the connecting strap will hold up, but I'm confident. The cap screws in pretty well even though it's plastic and the bottle is steel. I'm VERY happy with this product and It's pretty unique.

I bought this as a post-Christmas gift to myself
I bought this as a post-Christmas gift to myself.. I love most all things Swiss and have been converting over to metal water bottles lately.. I always liked the old style swiss canteens that this is modeled after and the old WW2 era canteens are a favorite of mine... This i my first SIGG bottle and will pay better attenetion to this brand in the future.. The stainless flat black bottle/flask is no doubt high quality! The screw top is also durable and does not tend to cross thread like I thought it would. The stainless cup is very functional (like the GI canteen cups). Just a couple things I would have done differently.. 1) The strap that attaches the flask to the cup is not real leather - but is a sort of pleather naugahide.. I used it as a template and made my own from real leather.. If they are not going to use real leather they should use neoprene or something - not fake vinyl leather. 2) This thing screams for a classic canvas duck and/or leather case with belt attachment.. I note that you can get neoprene socks for the the flasks alone.. So,, one cold night I will be making a leather case for this dandy 3) Most minor- The stainless cup is not a onepiece stamping -but is two piece with the bottom part welded/brazed to the top part. I would have done it in 1 piece and not then have to worry about lead in braze or solder (or whatever) Maybe there is none.. We'll see how it does over a backpacking stove.... This baby will see some duty..

The bottle is nice but I have a few complaints: The screw top is swiss made but the the bottle and cup are made in china and the quality of the cup is not what I expect from SIGG. The chinese MFG practices come through. The strap is not leather and the cup is not made from one piece of stainless steel(I hope it hold up for the cost). It does have a nice feel and it's still pretty cool.

This is a wonderful product
This is a wonderful product. The bottle feels great in your hand, and is truly a pleasure to drink from. The construction is beautiful and the entire set fits well together. It is a bit smaller than I expected, but would buy it again, without hesitation.

I've been using this as my main water bottle for a number of months now. It's easy to carry in my bookbag. Pouring myself a cup of something nice to drink instead of sucking from a plastic bottle is quite nice during lectures. If one can put up with the silly comments about whiskey (one from each of my professors!) then this is the perfect thing! Once people get used to it, they agree that it is very good design. A few have even asked where to purchase it.
