I lost the use of an arm and the long strap on this bag allows me to carry things like groceries and larger items a that won't fit in a standard size bag. The bag is well-made and easily folds up nicely so I can keep it in my car and always have it when I need it. The delivery was right on time. I couldn't be more pleased

Perfect Canvass Bag

by Sam S - 04/2012

If you are looking for a traditional newspaper bag . . . this is it. Lightweight and sturdy. Can be a little flimsy but it is perfect for over the shoulder carrying of bulk items.

I wanted a strong, well put-together canvas bag for lugging things around, for example, books to and from the library, and this nifty bag does the job very well.

Just Right

I received my two “super strong cotton canvas carrier bags” about a month ago, and they are working great. I bought them because a work friend suggested that my conventional canvas carry sacks looked gay (not that there is anything wrong with that; he used the word “murse”). Searching for a solution, I was originally remembering Jean Seberg selling the International Herald Tribune in Breathless; it turns out, from stills anyway, that she was just holding the papers without a bag! Pretty woman. The bags (my subject here) are roomy, with a long, wide and slightly low shape. My first expedition was to Acme, where large containers of laundry and dish detergent, vegetarian chili, fruit and tomatoes all fit and coexisted through the walk home. A second trip by car also worked, although one plum did briefly escape. We were ready for a trip to Reading Market, where cheese, frisee and salad type stuff all fit and were happy together.
I can carry the sack either on shoulder or (better) crossways across chest, like Antonio Banderas, Arnold Schwarzenegger or Raquel Welch carry ammo belts. The latter position has added advantage of disguising my belly, at least from one angle. With heavy loads one might wish for a padded strap, or even bearers, but some degree of suffering is educational. A trip to Whole Foods was also successful, although, even carrying a complete set of Remembrance of Things Past to impress the ladies with my sensitivity, all I came back with was groceries. Next time I’ll try a Vin Diesel DVD.
To test longevity, I washed/dried one of the bags. It limped back from the cellar with serious shrinkage (see Seinfeld episode), not to mention wrinkles. However, still works fine, and seems to be recovering.
All in all, lots of utility and cool look. Maybe they can print International Herald Tribune on the side? Daily Planet?

Perfect for large loads

With a distinguished 5 year term as a Chicago Tribune paperboy under my belt, I know a thing or two about canvas messenger bags. While this one lacks the canvas flap to keep light rain off all the news that is fit to print, it is more than adequate to carry large loads while keeping your hands free to use keys, open doors, retrieve bus passes, etc.

The strap on the bag is wide enough to prevent heavy loads from cutting into your shoulder and has sufficient capacity to hold 3 traditional sized plastic bags worth of groceries. I use the ReuseIt Workhorse bags at the self-checkout and then load them into the messenger bag to bring it all back home by bike.

Love this bag

My favorite use for this bag is bookshopping. I am avid reader and make trips to Half Price books in Texas on regular occasion. This bag holds a ton of books, keeps thems corralled so they're not spilling out and looks great. I also use it for smaller items that I purchase in bulk at Costco and even at the regular grocery store. Definitely worth the money.

Big bag!

by Karen C - 06/2011

This is a nice big bag. I haven't used it much yet, but i got it to help me carry bigger bulky things when I am throwing a shower at church or something like that. It's nice to have a big bag with a long strap to "wear". I agree with other reviews, some sort of top flap or even a snap strap to help the bag maintain some of its structural integrity when full would make it even better in my book, but that's a modification I can easily make myself.

Love this bag

So far this bag has taken everything I've thrown at it. If I wear it across my body it can hold an incredible amount of stuff, making it wonderful for walking trips through the farmer's market. Washable, durable, capacious...what more could I ask?

IDEAL SHAPE

Great for groceries. Not as deep as regular grocery bags so you can spread your stuff out and not crush everything on the bottom. You can carry a lot as the shoulder strap saves wrists, elbows and shoulders. I fill mine till its really heavy as I hate to make two trips and so far it doesn't seem to phase it.

Good product

by Thomas H - 01/2011

I've been searching for a carrier bag like this for some time now and you people at reuseit are the only one that provided this particular product. I do parcel deliveries for a living and this bag is perfect for carrying small packages. It seems durable enough but I think it could be made better by using a heavier weight canvas- all in all a good product that I would recommend to friends..

Great surprise

by Nicole B - 12/2010

I'm usually skeptical to when it comes to messenger style bags. They are either not big enough, badly made or just ugly. I got this one in black to haul books back and forth from the library and the book store. I really like this bag and will be buying more for me and for presents. Seriously good bag.

LOVE this bag

by Lisa G - 10/2010

I initially purchased this bag as a symptom of the very problem with which it now helps-- the dreaded impulse buy. I have a habit of forgetting my list and I noticed that I had started to go into a store with the Workhorse bags and find so many things at a "bargain" that I would not have enough bags and end up needing a plastic bag or two. No more! Now I unroll and hook the bag on my cart; if it doesn't fit into the bag, it doesn't get bought.
